Installer Not Working? You Can Salvage Your Game.
Starrocks923 reacted to Cyrem for a topic
A common problem with this game is that the game's installer will not run on newer systems. You may be able to get it to run by trying compatibility modes, ending programs or disabling UAC. However if all these efforts fail there is something you can do to save your game and be able to play it. Step 1 Download a program called 'Universal Extractor'. It has been uploaded here for your convenience. Then extract the contents of the zip file you've downloaded. Step 2 Insert your LEGO Rock Raiders disc and open the contents of the disc. Specifically you are looking for a file named 'data.cab' Step 3 Start up Universal extractor, browse and select the 'data.cab' file on your disc as the archive to extract. Set the destination directory to wherever you want the game. Step 4 Click 'ok' and wait until it has finished extracting. Step 5 In the disc you will see a folder named 'EXE'. Inside is an exe and icd file, copy these. Step 6 In the location you extracted the 'data.cab' paste those copied files and click 'yes' to overwriting. The reason for this is because the exe within the 'data.cab' file is for 16bit systems whereas the one in the 'EXE' folder is compatible with 32bit and 64bit systems. And that is all. You've manually installed the game and saved it. You can run the game by executing LegoRR.exe from the directory you've extracted everything. Note that this method can be used with many other games with which you are having the same issue. Additionally, if you feel inclined, you can make a new installer with programs such as InnoSetup.1 point -
Enable Select Level Menu
le717 reacted to legomoe for a topic
I was looking though the 'LEGO Island 2.exe' with a hex editor today, searching for embedded text strings, when I stumbled upon a section of the .exe from 5703360 to 5718543 that controls all the in-game menus. After poking around in this section for a while, I found a sub-menu labeled "Debug" that wasn't linked with any other existing menu. So I tried replacing an existing menu slot in the main menu with this "Debug" sub-menu, and lo and behold, it turned out to be a sub-menu that lets you load ANY level in the game. I've created an IPS patch that replaces the "New Game" option under the "Start" menu with this new "Select Level" sub-menu. Clicking this should give you a list where you can select what level to load. (The menu is kind of buggy, it will resize itself based on the width of the currently visible levels, so I find it a lot easier to scroll though and select levels using the arrow keys and enter, rather than the mouse). Here's a link to the patch: http://www.mediafire..._Any_Level).zip And here's a link to download Lunar IPS, which you'll need to apply the patch: http://fusoya.eludev...ility.org/lips/ EDIT: If the Lunar IPS patch won't work for some reason, I've created my own utility that will patch the exe all by itself. Here's the link: http://www.mediafire.com/file/4m3f5kcyxg3o91d/LI2_SelectLvl_Patch_v1.0.zip Just extract the 'LI2 SelectLvl Patch v1.0.exe' file into the same directory as your 'LEGO Island 2.exe' file and double click the patch exe to apply it. (this method does not require any ips patch file)1 point -

Manually Installing Lego Loco On Win7

I was mixed up with Racers. There is no 1999 LOCO release. It came out in 1998. I should know that...1 point -
Halo 4, Anyone?
McJobless reacted to Cirevam for a topic
It makes no sense that a seven-foot-tall guy who was trained since he was six to twelve years old (depending on the project) and augmented to be strong enough to wear the armour he's using can't carry more than two weapons. It's one of the stupidest mechanics in Halo and I hate it because it makes no sense and it's not fun. Maybe you could provide proof that a TV series exists before acting like we're idiots for not knowing. I googled it and all I see is that it's a future thing, so it doesn't exist yet. Dial it down a notch, man, not everyone is obsessively searching the web about Halo news... but I'm surprised Extreme isn't. :P1 point -

Ugh. I knew you guys would carry on. Don't. This is outright spamming. Move it to private PMs or skype or somewhere for you guys to argue with eachother. We mods have taken action, and the problem here is done. I'm locking this thread for a while to stop subsequent posts from piling up here. DO. NOT. CONTINUE. THESE. KINDS. OF. THINGS. EVER. The situation has been handled by us mods, and it is only to be handled by us mods in the past, present, and future. If anybody replies to this thread with more spam, fear my wrath. You've been warned. This conversation is done, over. Do not continue it. And don't continue other conversations like it. Report the post and shut up.1 point -

Please, just shut up. Posts like this make you look more and more noobish, and your member title doesn't help at all. You aren't a mod either! I don't think you understand how forums work. Mods are not here to be your parents when you're bing a bad boy. They're here to maintain the forum. Users are not here to do whatever they hell they please until someone with power tells them otherwise. Users are here to discuss or mod or create whatever. Users have the ability to self moderate. This is a cool thing called self control and judgment. This means they thing about what they're going to do it before they do so, and if it's not something they should be doing, they don't. Necroing threads and adding absolutely nothing to it is not needed here. If you want to do that, go find a forum where they don't give a flying bollock about it. Here's not the place. I would also advise you stop with your telling people they can't do anything about your behavior, because they can. It's called the report button. The way I see it, you have two options: Stop doing whatever the hell you're doing, and move on. Continue being obnoxious and get reported. Warning points are fun!1 point -

News about Red Quark, and Bionicle The Legend of Mata Nui
STUDZ reacted to Vahkiti for a topic
If nothing else, he'll gain a say in what happens to the game from that point onward, and may later be able to obtain the remaining rights to it OR get Lego's permission to redistribute the disk image to the public. Keep in mind, Bionicle is a dead franchise, serving no further financial gain to the Lego corporation or its affiliates, and if the rights held by the sole party who stands to make a buck are obtained by us, Lego would probably not object to free distribution. After all, they've only said that THEY personally have no plans on completing it, not that WE can't if we somehow manage to obtain it.1 point -

That's weird. You're going to need to mod the game, I think. Get a WAD Extractor from the uploads section and extract WAD LegoRR1.wad.1 point
