This forum absolutely made my day. I've been playing Racers for years, and now I can do all the ridiculous stuff that I want with it.2 points -
Heavy Transport Vehicle
aidenpons reacted to Phoenyx for a topic
You know, I have to admit I found it weird that the Small transport truck was called a Small Transport Truck even though there isn't a Large Transport Truck. Well, I decided to build my interpretation of one in LDD. It's big. That's really all I can say. Well, that and I decided to take some artistic license and update the look of the chassis, which was originally going to be based on the Large Mobile Laser Cutter. I may actually make reinterpretations of the original vehicle designs later. I used those angled roof components to make the warning stripes on the side, similar to how the original Anakin's Pod Racer used them on the back of the cockpit.1 point -

Hello!
McJobless reacted to le717 for a topic
Welcome to RRU! I'm le717, also an LR fan (and one who doesn't own LRR). Most of the time you'll find me in the Racers areas, but I sometimes branch out and post on the LRR section. I (unintentionally) wrote the LEGO Racers 1 and 2 FAQ, the writer of a few LEGO Alternate installers, and the creator of the LEGO Island Windower tool. If you need any help, please ask! Someone will be glad to help! I hope you stay a long time, and please, mind the silliness around here. Some of us here... um... don't have all our bricks. BTW, stray away from the Brony Herd topic. It is the pitfall of RRU, and once you get in, you can't get out. Many a people have fallen prey, and it is a sad sight to see that happen. For the record, I am not a brony, nor do I ever plan to be one. I actually belong to the Foundation against the Creation of Bronies, in collaboration with the Anti-Brony Committee Society. :P1 point -

Writing Reviews
Rock Monster reacted to Cyrem for a topic
Reviews are a great way to share your opinion of a set you like or dislike, and has the power to encourage other people to buy or not to buy that set. This is why it's important to be as informative as you can when doing reviews. Template When starting a new topic in this forum, the topic begins with a template. This template is not mandatory, however it is recommended for consistency between reviews. Make sure you replace all content between brackets with relevant information. Tagging Reviews should contain the tags: 'Review' as well as the set number and theme. These tags help people find content related or other reviews on the same set. Images There is a specific gallery category for review images located here. It is recommended you upload the images here as it ensures the image will not become broken in time to come.1 point -

Don't worry mate - I've been lurking, and it isn't hard at all. 1. Get JrMasterModelBuilder's JAM extraction tool. He has a few versions, but you'll probably want the one with a GUI. 2. Click extract, browse to the Program Files of your computer, Lego Media, Lego Racers, then select LEGO.JAM 3. Choose a folder to extract to. 4. Done! To do what I've done here, just replace some of the BMP files in the GAMEDATA/TEST that you'll get. To figure out what's what (since you can't actually view the default ones), have a look at Cyrem's thread. Then, rebuild it into a new LEGO.JAM, and replace the one in your Lego racers directory. Be sure to keep a backup of the old JAM file, or you'll have to reinstall Lego Racers if anything goes wrong.1 point -

What The Heck Glitch

I'm afraid not. It could well be what you suggested: something to do with the Encyclopedia. I have no idea, without playing around with it to try reproducing it, what might be causing it. It is possible that there could be a undocumented keypress that 'enables' this behavior. (We had a few of those, but most were taken out for the release)1 point -

What You Don't Like About Rock Raiders
aidenpons reacted to rrcoder for a topic
I've read through this entire thread, nodding practically all the way through. I agree with most of these points unfortunately. To clear up a few of the points that spring to mind: Final level being too easy. I remember putting the final level together, and I originally set up wave after wave of creatures coming from the side walls (i.e. you kill one, another emerges). The idea was, the further towards the final cavern you go, the more creatures would be triggered. In order to overcome this, you would need to build a 'safe path' with electric fences either side. That or arm all of your units to the hilt. Unfortunately, it was deemed "too difficult" (by LEGO), and many of the creature triggers were taken out. In hindsight, I wish I had just left the old level files in the directory structure so you'd be able to recover that version of the level (I'd love to see it again myself after all this time). Weapons/battle being generally rubbish This one came from our overlords at LEGO. We were told to tone down the "violence" as it was a "family-friendly game". I haven't investigated, however I'd be interested to see if there are any remnants of the old Rock Monster "explosion" animations left behind. Also, you already know of the planned Rockwhale. I would have loved for that to have actually made it into the game!! A LANDSLIDE HAS OCCURED. A LANDSLIDE HAS OCCURED. A LANDSLIDE HAS OCCURED. A LANDSLIDE HAS OCCURED. Sorry. Sorry sorry sorry sorry sorry. Did I apologize enough yet? Also, one thing that *always* bugged me (and still does). AN ENERGY CRYSTAL HAS BEEN FOUND! I always hated the emphasis on the word 'HAS'.1 point -
