    LRS Files

I'd thought I'd post this for the sake of knowledge. The two(more if you count the one in each language folder) LRS files (QBUILD/DEFAULT) in MENUDATA are quite simply save games. You can in fact replace your normal save game file with either and the game will work fine... and you'll get the racers that come with them.

AI Racers - Strongest, Weakest, favourite and least favourite...

Well, as most of you probably know by now, AI opponents in Lego Racers are kind of my thing. So, yeah, I'm just interested in hearing your opinion on those guys. My personal opinion: Strongest: Gypsy Moth - High speed, good paths, 95% turbo start ratio, fast power-up activation Weakest: Commander Cold - Slow, path ignores most useful power-ups, hesitates before activating bricks - in fact, I never saw win a race. Pharaoh's Mummy, Alpha Dragonis and Achu have each at least one track they're good at (though not necessarily the one that fits their theme) Second Weakest: Gail Storm Favourite: Basil the Batlord, because his car looks cool and the Alpha Dragonis voice fits him really well, for some reason, and Pharaoh's Mummy, because that one's cute and has a scorpion on its hood. Least Favourite: Baron von Barron, because he usually wins simply by virtue of possessing stronger rubber-banding than anyone else, even without activating any power-ups. Also Captain Redbeard for spamming Cannon Ball. So, yeah, those are my thoughts. What are yours?

My Biggest Problem with Lego Racers

I assume a lot of people don't like this either, and a few people can probably guess what I am about to say... Reused tracks. That phrase makes me shudder. This has always been my biggest problem with Lego Racers. Obviously the warp issue is pretty glaring as well (Fixed, thank God!) but ever since I was little I always wanted more tracks. And really, it's just lazy to flip your tracks and stick them in again. Even with the mirrors, there isn't a huge number of tracks anyway, but it doesn't help that most of them are reused. Now that we've rid the game of the oppressive dictator known as the green brick, I'm finding the game quite enjoyable. But me enjoying the game more makes this issue more annoying. It seems that in the direction we are going with modding, this will eventually be fixable, but for now, what are your thoughts?

    Help with THPS3 model format.

sorry for bumping this, but I just found this post on the web. you can import thps3 DFF models in 3ds max by Kam's Max Scripts. actually i'd like to see some thps3 models in other games. here are those max scripts: http://www.gtagarage.com/mods/show.php?id=9172 and for example here's Neversoft Eyeball character ported to Left4Dead: http://www.l4dmaps.com/details.php?file=12929

My Biggest Problem with Lego Racers

See, I wouldn't mind if they reused themes. After they came up with the first three circuits, they could just take the same themes and make a different track from them. Two desert-jungle tracks, two imperial-port tracks, and certainly two space tracks. Yes, in a way, that's what they did, but that's stretching it more than making a Space Castle track.

My Biggest Problem with Lego Racers

From a gameplay standpoint, I agree that there should have been more tracks. But looking at the LEGO aspect, I'm really not sure how that could have happened. It's certainly not a problem for the Castle and Space themes, but they were already stretching Adventurers (Desert, jungle... Oh dear, nothing else, gotta merge the two for Adventure Temple Trail!), and Pirates was at its limit (Imperials, islanders, pirates... What else? That's it). I'm really not sure what they would have themed an additional set of tracks on for the two non-core themes... Sure, expand the final circuit, but again, what do you really base that off of when the theme is just generic racers?

My Biggest Problem with Lego Racers

Definitely, it's always been an issue for me. I would have been more satisfied if they just came up with four more tracks, or made Rocket Racer a four-course circuit instead of one, and taken out the mirrored courses altogether. Most kart racers at the time at least had 16 (Mario Kart 64, for example), so would it really have killed them to have three more? It was pretty much just a lazy excuse to double the amount of tracks the game had.

    AI Speed and Rubber-Banding

Yes. Yes, you can. You'll find that RRB files are named like this: "R2_M_2" or "R5_S_0", which translates to "2nd Racer, Medium Speed, 3rd Path" and "5th Racer, Slow Speed, 1st Path" respectively. The "S", "M", "F" part of the name is apparently not read by the game, changing the "F" in Redbeard's name to "S" does not prevent the game from using it. Technically, any given AI racer can have up to nine different path files, but High Voltage never gave them more than two or three. Lazy programmers! By the way, can anyone tell me what's up with RACEC2R2R5_S_2? It's one of Alpha Dragonis' path files for the third Adventurers track, but it's slightly larger than all the other RRB files and contains two blocks of what may be different values for the game to pick from.

    Writing Reviews

Reviews are a great way to share your opinion of a set you like or dislike, and has the power to encourage other people to buy or not to buy that set. This is why it's important to be as informative as you can when doing reviews. Template When starting a new topic in this forum, the topic begins with a template. This template is not mandatory, however it is recommended for consistency between reviews. Make sure you replace all content between brackets with relevant information. Tagging Reviews should contain the tags: 'Review' as well as the set number and theme. These tags help people find content related or other reviews on the same set. Images There is a specific gallery category for review images located here. It is recommended you upload the images here as it ensures the image will not become broken in time to come.
