    I did it

It happens to all of us eventually. For years we find them impossibly challenging... then one day we find out that we can sit down and 100% the entire game in less than an hour. And then it's never the same again :'(

Indeed, indeed. It's most certainly that way when I play games deep in my long-lost memories I once thought were impossible.

    Tutorial: Change the Brick Colors

Just incase anyone who's curious about this hasn't tried it yet, I'd just like to make it clear that changing these files will only change the colors of the bricks you're given to build with, not bricks that you've already placed on your cars. This is actually really great for us, as this means you can change the colors in these files as much as you want to get the bricks you want in any color without messing up the colors of your existing cars. That said, just a heads up: removing a brick off of a car that's not currently placeable will crash the game. (Example, changing a brick from white to green, then attempting to remove a white version of that brick that had already been placed.)

    Volume of the game

Couldn't you turn it down in post (aka Windows Movie Maker, Sony Vegas or whatever you're going to use, just lower the volume of the recording from the game and overlay your voice (if you're doing voice)?)? What about the volume in the game options (press ESC and then Options), does that work?

    LEGO Racers PS1 Soundtrack

I've managed to extract the music from the PS1 version of LEGO Racers. I converted the XAI files to WAVs, then to MP3s. These aren't just a recording. Download link: Click me With updated metadata and album art (Courtesy of Xiron): Click me If anyone wants the WAVs, let me know and I'll throw them up on Mediafire (290MB). I say this, because the MP3 files have a small silence in the beginning that may affect looping.

    New Skyboxes

I'm not sure if this belongs here, since Skyboxes are gradients, rather than textures, but they change in-game visuals, so it's sort of fitting, I suppose. Anyway, I created some personal in-game backgrounds (skyboxes), based on the backgrounds from box deisgns and catalogues. Since LR1 skyboxes are defined by a mere three colours, the possibilities are sort of limited, but I chose to share this anyway... Tutorial: Learn 3D Modeling With Lightwave V9.0

So you want to learn 3D modeling with NewTek Lightwave 3D? This tutorial will go over the different features of Lightwave V9.0, which contains almost all, if not all, of the features covered by previous versions of the program. However, there are quite a few features that this tutorial covers that previous versions do not contain. Main Overview First, let's look at all the different areas of Lightwave 3D V9.0 and explain what each area's functions are. The Main Menu File New Object (SHIFT + N): Creates a new object file, opening in a different 'tab'. You can switch between objects in the Object Browser (see the picture) Load Object (CTRL+ O): Loads an existing .lwo file, saved somewhere on your computer/external media Save Object (S): Saves your .lwo file to the file location Save Object As (CTRL + S): Saves your .lwo file as a new file in the browsed directory with a given filename Save Incremental SHIFT + S): Apparently functions as the Save Object As, but rather automatically creates a new file in the same directory with a new version 'tag' (Ex: My file was called Box; the first save was called Box_v001; the second save was called Box_v002) Save All Objects (no default hotkey): Functions as the Save Object, but it saves all opened objects, rather than the one currently viewed in the modeler Sections (no default hotkeys): I am unsure as to the purpose of these Save-Object-Section: Save-Object-Section-Cut: Save-Object-Section-Points: Save-Object-Section-Points-Cut: [*]Recent Files --> [select a File]: Opens the chosen file [*]Close Object (no default hotkey): Closes the current opened object [*]Close All Objects (no default hotkey): Closes all current opened objects [*]Import: I am unsure how exactly to use these EPSF Loader: pdbreaderv3: Vertex Loader: [*]Export: Export 3DS: Exports to .3ds Export DXF: I am unsure what this exports to Export Encapsulated PostScript: I have absolutely no idea what the heck this is Export LightWave 5: Exports to .lwo, version 5 (Lightwave changed file formats after V5.X; LRR uses this file format) Export OBJ: Exports to .obj PathToMotion: No clue what this is Throw: No clue what this is, either [*]Edit Cut, Copy, Paste, Undo, Redo, Delete: You guys know what these do and what their shortcuts are (with the exception of redo, which is 'Z', not CTRL+Y), right? Copy Tool: Same as 'Paste', except you can drag where the center is, rather than keep the object's previous position Edit Keyboard Shortcuts: Brings up the keyboard shortcut editor, where you can add, remove, or change different keyboard shortcuts; I won't get into how all this works, so you'll just have to experiment. You can, however, save your keyboard shortcuts to a file and load them elsewhere, so that you can keep the same shortcuts wherever you are. Edit Menu Layout: Same as above, except it edits which items are in which of the menu tabs (Create, Modify, etc). Note, I have not used this, although I have used the Keyboard Shortcut Editor Edit Modeler Tools: I have not actually used this, but I believe this allows you to change the options of a couple different tools (I have Cut, Divide, and Make Poly) Preferences: I am not exactly sure to the exact functionality of this button General Options: Allows you to change a few options, such as the polygon mode, and the amount of undo levels that the program will keep record of Display Options: Allows you to change different options for the viewing (how each viewing window displays, the colors of different things, what actually displays on the screen, units, and much more Backdrop Options: Simply goes to the "Backdrop" tab of the "Display Options" menu Set Content Recovery: Not 100% sure what this does Recent Content Directories: Keeps record of the recent directories that was chosen in the "General Options" window (I think) In-progress

... Should I start worrying now? I'm still working this one out myself. By the sounds of things, if you don't like wearing pants, just avoid Extreme110. O.T. I'm sure the quote system has changed, I don't get any tags any more, so editing quoted comments isn't pleasant...

*cough* *cough* *cough* *cough* Also, don't forget all the Adventurers cameos Indiana Jones had, and all the throwbacks to old themes in LEGO Rock Band, and the cameos of classic LEGO space ships in LEGO Star Wars 2/TCS, and the Space Port astronaut cameo in LSW TCS, and the classic town sets appearing in the various "LEGO City" bonus levels. TT Games actually has quite a history of referencing past themes in their games. :P

    News: Tons of TT

I'm sorry to say, I don't think I have enough faith in TT Games to think that this was a deliberate LEGO Island reference. Nor do I have enough faith to believe that there will be any deliberate LEGO Island references in the whole game. Maybe I'm just pessimistic, but it seems like LEGO doesn't remember LEGO Island anymore. They have Legend of Zelda sound effects and Super Mario warp pipes, but still no sign of the one and only Brickster in a LEGO "cops & robbers" game? Come on! Soccer Mania had nothing to do with LEGO Island (discounting Captain Click's unexpected cameo appearance in the flesh... err, bone), and the Brickster was the main villain! Heck, you could call this guy "the Brickster", and I'd be cool with that because he's got a beanie cap, domino mask, mustache, grin, jail stripes, and black pants... and LEGO completely missed that opportunity.

    LEGO.jam File Extractor

Thanks JMMB! You are the dude with the LEGO JAM! BTW, you need to fix the topic post again. Xentax changed the link to the JAM documentation, and the link mentioning the no-JAM method is split in two. Also, I've made a GUI for your Python version, and if you want, you can add a link to it to encourage the use of the Python build.

    Hide Shoutbox In a Spoiler

Personally, I don't think anyone should get suspended or banned for a minor or medium offense in the shoutbox. If I see something naughty in the shoutbox I just edit it out. If it's a huge violation of forum rules then I bring it up with the other mods. And if things get really bad then we can purge every single shoutbox post and end arguments instantly. We have a lot of power that doesn't require us to use our banweapons.

    LEGO.jam File Extractor

Yes, I can make it print out the files as they are extracted, perhaps with a -verbose argument as that will be a lot of text. I can add that second feature as well, although it will end up creating a file named LEGO_1.JAM if there already is a LEGO.JAM file in the folder. Anyway, I've added the project to GitHub, if anyone would like to submit pull requests. The current version online is functionally the same as the original Python version, just a little cleaned up and now has a proper license.
