Common Modding Crashes
Fluffy Cupcake and one other reacted to Cyrem for a topic
LEGO Rock Raiders can be quite touchy when it comes to modding. Some of the most smallest things can cause the game to crash. This topic lists common known things that cause mods to crash the game. Crashes on Game Load Crashing during the loading of the game is usually due to a mistake in the LEGO.CFG formatting, missing files or invalid values for properties. Crashes on Game Level Mission Briefing Panel won't disappear Reason: Game Camera is colliding with a wall. Solution: Move the camera into a more open area. Level crashes at the end of loading Reason: ObjectList file contains errors or Game is trying to create an object that does not exist. Solution: Check your level's OL file for mistakes. Make sure "Object" blocks go up incrementally: e.g 1,2,3,4 etc. Crashes on Reward Screen Clicking "Return to Level Menu" crashes game. Reason: Your NERPSMessages file for your level is empty. Solution: If you don't want any messages, remove the "NERPMessageFile" property from your level.2 points -

Borg Raiders
STUDZ reacted to Cirevam for a topic
If you thought Anna Navarre and Gunther Hermann were advanced, then these guys will blow you away. By combining both mechanical and nanoaugmentations, these elite Raiders can withstand the harshest conditions while outperforming any normal Lego-man. As you can clearly see, they have their own oxygen supply, so a Support Station becomes a minor issue. On the chest one can see a slightly upgraded shield generator and some status lights above the waistline. They also run faster due to the speed augmentations in their legs. The "C" on the headband stands for "Cirevam", the lead engineer of Project Borg. There are a few enhancements to the arms, but not as much as everywhere else. They can carry two crystals at a time since you can grab the top spike of them, but they can only carry one ore because of the odd shape. They can shovel much faster than the average Raider. Shown here is the vision augmentations. They can scan the walls about three squares deep to search for crystals, recharge seams, undiscovered caverns, and even monsters. Unfortunately, this doesn't increase their accuracy with weapons. I bring you: A New Hope. Yes, what you see is RR running at 1920x1080. I haven't done any testing on other systems yet for my new launcher, but my hack is working. BUT! I still haven't found a way to move that stupid toolbar position. So you currently have to wait until it moves out of screen, then when it comes back, the buttons will enable again. Meaning, I have to wait like 5 seconds each time I click a button on it . But ignore that problem for now, just look at it... YOU CAN SEE EVERYTHING SO CLEAR!1 point -

Hm, pretty much all I can think of has been said by now. How about: - Take your foot of the gas when hit by enemy missiles or affected by an oil slick - it will increase the chaces of your car doing a full 360° spin, instead of ending up facing backwards. - Try and wait with firing your cannon ball until your target activated a turbo boost. - Use Yellow and Red shields to turn your car into a moving obstacle and block the paths of your opponents on purpose. EDIT Doesn't work for me. I'm one of the few people with a 1999 build of the game, though.1 point -

I would like to share with everyone my latest progress: Toolbar Position: HAXXED. I've also gotten it to switch slightly faster. The two issues that remain are that the oxygen bar and ore bar aren't trasparent, so I can not make the image larger to move them, I can live without the bars, so i'll probably remove them.1 point -

Sounds like a good idea. I guess most have already been done now, but how about: When turning tight corners, move to the outside of the track and powerslide inwards. This will give you a tighter turn. When firing the Grappling Hook, make sure you manoeuvre your car around the opponent, or you'll bump into them. Instead of simply picking up a green powerup, why not switch it with a different one? You can set the number of opponents in a single race to 0 in the Options menu, helping you to learn the layout of tracks before racing them for real. There are two shortcuts in Desert Adventure Dragway that lead to the same powerups, choose which one you use wisely. Master the powerup locations in Ice Planet Pathway to speed ahead of your opponents. They are often hidden around corners. Developing a good track line will improve your lap times. Stay near corners to prevent a great speed loss when turning. Try and release yellow powerup bricks on narrow sections of track - this will maximize their chances of hitting an opponent. You can also listen to the colour console's beeps in Magma Moon Marathon to learn its combination code for the next lap. In the Build Driver menu, you can click on the parts themselves to scroll through them faster. Not sure how to build in the Build Car menu? Stay idle for a short period, and help messages will pop up for you. When building your car, you are limited to 30 bricks. Although this is plentiful for most people, don't build unnecessarily. Use the square grid below a part in the Build Car menu to accurately position your pieces. Veronica Voltage can be a tough racer to beat - learn the positions of all the white and green powerups to beat her! Is Veronica Voltage in your way? Just drive right through her, she won't stop you.1 point -

Just a selection of tips that came in useful for me (the yellow text is just extra information, not intended for using with the tip): - Make sure to grab a blue brick and use it, at the start of Alien Rally Asteroid. - Using the Mummy Curse power-up against opponents can be very useful, as it does slow them down. - Never use a turbo when cursed by the mummy. - Use a Grapple Hook on an opponent when dragged by the UFO, it will help you regain speed. - Press the gas-button right at the start of the race to get an extra boost. - Do not waste time searching for a 'real' shortcut on Knightmare-athon or Pirate Skull Pass, you wouldn't be able to use them anyway. (although, not without modding) - (as Alan somewhat said) Only fire missiles when knowing you will have a clear shot at your opponents (e.g. the opponent(s) is/are right in front of you, or on a straight part). - All red-type power-ups can be used to open shortcuts. (but the red-type power-up cannot open ALL shortcuts) - Do not even try to shoot at opponents with a yellow or red shield. I got more tips, but they would take too long (or to difficult) to explain.1 point -

During the warp powerup and shortly after, don't press any key. This will make you 'fly' further in some arrival places. To make the speed of a green powerup last longer, press also the braking key with the acceleration key when the green powerup is finishing. If you want to use the shortcut in Imperial Grand Prix, you can also open it by honking in the waterfall area. When you want to fire the missiles, forget about them! They hardly ever hit any AI (opponent) especially in narrow races. When flying (green powerup, 2 white bricks), you can do even harder turns than without them. Restart Rocket Racer's Run as long as RR himself has no rocket at the beginning. Then try to reach the green powerup at the start. When you got it, the race is almost won for you!1 point -

Don't use a turbo on a ramp, it will make your car unstable, and the effect of the turbo will be lost. Probably not the best tip ever, but hey...1 point -

How short do you want these? Give us a character limit if possible. Is that turn too tight for a power slide? Try a super slide! Hold the brake key as you begin your slide and you will turn even more tightly (need to confirm how to do this, it's been forever). When you have a warp powerup, try using it right before touching a powerup or white brick. You will pick up the brick as you enter the warp which can be helpful. Have you heard about the TRUCK DRIVER cheat? It's fake. Don't believe anyone who tells you otherwise.1 point -

Ert (my game currently in production)
Fluffy Cupcake reacted to Kenney for a topic
At the moment I can't work on LEGO Racers HD because of the game I'm creating myself. I thought it would be a good idea to create a topic where I can get you guys up-to-date with my game and the development of it. If you have any feedback, suggestions, complaints or idea feel free to post them! -- About the game -- Ert is a game where you take care of a pet pea. Feeding it, playing with it and making sure it's healthy and clean are just some of the tasks. You can even go into town to buy food, furniture (for your home) and accessories for your Ert. Money is earned by playing minigames in the arcade like Ert Ski or Ert Dig (more to come, I aim at 4 minigames when the game is launched and more through updates later on). The game is about 50% done right now and will be released around March for Android and later for iOS devices. It'll be available for free (in-app purchases, although everything is unlockable without spending money). I'm interested in hearing your feedback and ideas. I know this game is not something everyone would play but it's something that's very close to my own interest and I absolutely love working on it. -- Technology behind the game -- The game is being made in Adobe Flash CS6, ported to mobile using Adobe AIR. The game will have AIR included (adds about 9mb to the game filesize), so users don't have to install AIR separately. There are a few reasons I'm using this tech; I've been using Flash for about 10 years now, I'm very fluent in it and it allows me to work fast - as I'm 1 man development team this is very important. The second reason is so that I can later on release a version of the game that works in browsers which can be distributed around the web without any porting necessary. Third reason is that Flash and AIR allow me to use vector graphics, which means that it will look super smooth on ANY resolution out there - no need for HD textures ! -- What I'm working on right now -- Currently I'm working on the first two minigames (Ert Ski and Ert Dig). The minigames should be fun and easy to play while still addicting in a way. In Ert Ski you simply dodge flags, rocks and trees but collect stars - there might be a Yeti that follows you! In Ert Dig you dig holes for treasure, if the treasure isn't located in that spot an arrow will point you in the right direction. Every time you find treasure the game will become a little more difficult and arrows might point in a global direction rather than the actual precise direction the treasure is located. If the time runs out, you lose.1 point
