HOW TO OVERWRITE LEGO.JAM
ANGellui and one other reacted to RobExplorien for a topic
Hmm, how to respond to this... First off, can you specify a bit more why and how you got into this problem? From what I read, I'm assuming that you've modded the .JAM archive contents a little or majorly, and would like to rebuild the modded .JAM, is that correct? If so, then paste the modded .JAM archive onto the JAMExtractor.exe, and it will build a new LEGO.JAM. To play with the modified LEGO.JAM, place the file in the archive in which your LEGORacers.exe is stored as well (often found in Program Files --> LEGO Media --> LEGO Racers). There should already be a LEGO.JAM in this archive, this probably is the original or former .JAM file. Opt for overwrite when you replace the 'original' LEGO.JAM with the modified LEGO.JAM, but also remember to have made a back-up of this original .JAM file, just in case.2 points -

Beta speedometer

I've seen that the speedometer looks different in the beta version of LEGO Racers, and thought it'd be nice to re-create this speedometer. So here it is. The indicator is not yet set in 'beta-style' though.1 point -

Find the program "To Configure LEGO Island." It's in the start menu, same place as the LEGO Island shortcut. What is it set on? You probably want to change it to any of the other three options there.1 point -

If Nubby Stevens was a Rock Raider
aidenpons reacted to Pranciblad for a topic
For some reason, a boring afternoon has brought upon me this hilarious concept: Nubby as a rock raider. "Why do we gather building materials if everything is teleported down from the explorer? And are the construction barriers really necessary? What kind of logic do the dependencies follow, anyway? Somehow the teleport pad needs no power, but only for the power station? What's so terrifying about harmless bats? How come dynamiting walls doesn't kill all the small spiders in them? How come firing the lasers on a vehicle drains the crystals back at the base instead of the ones actually in the vehicle? How do people not notice they stepped in lava? Is it the same reason monsters are blind to electric fences? Or rockwhales to water? Why is it raiders drain air out of a cavern, but not vehicles? Couldn't you just create remote-controlled vehicles and not have to worry about air? Can't we just cap off slimy slug holes? Why can't the small digger or the chrome crusher carry anything in their beds? And how come the hover scout can't go over water? How come the granite grinder's drill is so weak compared to the identical one on the chrome crusher? Why does the tunnel scout have drills if it can't use them? Why does the freezer beam's freezing last the same amount of time in all environments? Is it because it isn't real ice? But then if that's true, then why does it affect monsters differently? How come lava can erode straight up to a lake without it boiling? How does lava in an ice cavern make sense at all? If monsters can't emerge from solid rock, then how could they emerge from different areas separated by it? Why do slugs only go after bases, even if there are more plentiful sources of crystals around?"1 point -

You build the Teleport Pad before the Power Station, even though you need a Power Station AND a Support Station to use it. Remember that witch I was talking about? This is actually where she lives. You need to bring down her home.1 point -
Return To Planet U (THE END?)
Lair reacted to McJobless for a topic
This is highly unfortunate, and reading through you have a lot of terribly accurate points. I'm not sure if it's because we're just older and busier, or if modding has slowly crept out of grasp, but whatever has happened, I was really hoping you were going to break through this invisible *barrier* that seems to stop us from progressing on our overhauls, and give us something amazing. We are all entirely responsible for the actions of not just ourselves, but of everyone else on this site. It's a harrowing truth which should serve as a reminder of why the community sticking together is much more important than falling apart, even despite our collective differentiating opinions and attitudes. This has been enlightening and has given me even more of a push to go back and finish what I started, and I hope that this will act as a wake-up call to the community, so that they can finally get back to doing what this site was constructed to do; bring together a bunch of people who enjoy creating custom content for LEGO Rock Raiders, sharing and playing that custom content, in turn using it to make more custom content. The coming months will be difficult for us all, I am sure, but none-the-less we all have a commitment to giving back to this site and to Cyrem, who genuinely pays without receiving any compensation to keep this site alive. I've been fiddling with my custom resolution and with AIRSTRIKE, but nothing ready for launch, and SKN needs a major overhaul before I can make it into a proper...uh...overhaul (the problem is I wanted to do something that the game was not suited for; I need to reconsider the actual gameplay and focus on that instead of doing all this story stuff). Hopefully by the end of the year i might have done a significant amount of work and released a couple things. That we shall see.1 point -

The fact that you were able to build ANYTHING within LEGO Creator proves that you're very patient... Or very lucky to build something on it. From my brief experience of Creator, I couldn't build anything without constant glitches and stuff. But still... this precursor to LDD was OK for its time.1 point -

If Nubby Stevens was a Rock Raider
Lair reacted to McJobless for a topic
To replenish construction stock in the LMS so they can keep creating buildings to replace ones any creates destroy or otherwise don't get teleported safely. That didn't make sense. Because they're SUPPOSED to swoop down and annoy the working raiders, but the code is all over the place. The rock absorbs the shock of the explosion. The crystals are linked via some ancient black magic cast by a dark, sexy wizard in her mid-20s. Because the caves are dark and in those suits conditions are not good to be aware of your surroundings. Vehicles do not breathe and use the crystals for energy; they don't require air to cause the spark that makes the engine run. They're either too large or of a weird construction that makes them difficult to just cap. They aren't designed for carry material and have no way to fill them. The Hover Scout doesn't have enough power to fly over water which is much denser than land, and absorbs the rays the engine system uses to hover (I assume that's how it works). They're not identical, but share the same appearance. For emergencies. It's a special type of ice which is designed to be effective in all environments, but the different anatomies of each individual species of Monster modifies the effect. It's boiling, but you can't see the smoke because the player character has terrible eyesight and sees everything as if it were made with a low amount of polygons. Lava comes from under the ice-cavern but the temperature is cooler than that of lava in the other environments, so its effects are lesser. Caverns deeper underground connecting the areas together. Also, we are still unsure of the entire creation process of the rock monster. It's possible that certain types of microorganisms which are native to all environments on Planet U in all caverns form the monsters. They assume that a fully functioning base will have a greater source of power to keep it running. They are simple creatures. It's 2:22AM and I think I did pretty well.1 point -
