This is getting out of hand. Look, I know that you have a lot of ideas. We all do. I know what it's like to want to do everything. I have a veritable crapload of concepts and ideas that I want to see come to fruition. I have a number of projects that I am working on and off on in my spare time. I have not been posting them. Why? Because I have nothing to show for them of course. I highly doubt that most of them will ever happen. It's great that you have ideas, and it's great that you want to share them, but please tone it down a bit. You've posted several topics like this in a short span of time and I have not seen a single one make it beyond the concept stage. Please don't post a topic until you are sure that you can and will actually complete your proposed project. Try to pick one that interests you the most so that you won't get bored and jump to another project. Stop the constant juggling of projects. Pick one, focus on it, put some effort into it, and once you've got something to show for it then you can tell us. Make it something original, something you can do on your own. You want help here, and that is not a good sign. You need to show that you can do things for yourself before you ask for outside involvement, otherwise people will get the impression that they are doing everything for you, and why even include you to start with? This project in particular, not only are you asking for the forum's help on, but the whole thing is based on someone else's creation.. I highly doubt that this guy is going to let some random stranger use his model, especially when said stranger has no credentials and has yet to produce anything of value. I don't mean to sound harsh, but this must end here. Stop posting new projects, and finish one of your old ones first. And create something on your own before you try to involve other people. Please. I'm out. Who's up next?

Hello. I'm TheDoctor. Two words. Production value. Don't release a broken game. Don't release the result of you slapping your hands on the keyboard when Game Maker happens to be open. Release something that has some effort put into it. Don't waste your own time creating something that's not going to amount to little more than a poorly made fan game. The only people who play those are people who like to find awful games, break them, lambaste them, cry a little bit, then post the result to youtube. If you make something worth the time you put into it, and worth the time of those playing it, then you can release it. If not, either improve your game creation skills or perhaps find a different hobby. Perhaps modding LRR is more to your abilities if game creation is not.

Believe me, sir, I have modeled and re-modeled many LEGO minifigures with precision down to a hundredth of a millimeter. I'm not just sure how they look, but the shape of every piece has become lodged inside my mind. Bartemis, don't let the naysayers discourage you. Programming is a journey like anything else and I imagine you're at the beginning of yours. It's only natural that things will improve with time. Don't feel pressured to release anything if you don't want to. Unless you have an intended audience, your only goal is to please yourself. Take your time and have fun. GameMaker is just fine if that's what you want to use. Nothing at all wrong with it. That said, what Cyrem points out is also true. If you are injecting something into a public forum, you need to be able to deal with and take criticism, hopefully most of it being constructive. That's the only way anyone improves; critics may even point out things you never thought about or never saw.

Ben, I'm not sure whether or not you realize it but your oft sarcastic and terse replies are beginning to rub a lot of people the wrong way. If you genuninely would like feedback, then you need to be amicable in your communications with others. They are, after all, taking time out of their day to respond. If you can't, you will simply alienate yourself from the community.

If we all sat around saying "great" this game would never reach it's potential. Criticism on your game will give you things to work on and improve. If you don't want to do that you might as well leave the creative industry altogether, you will always receive criticism from the public. Instead of going "oh criticism, I'm leaving" you should be thanking McJobless for not only playing your game... but clearly telling you what needs to be worked on. Aside from what McJobless said, I can't see any other negative comments on your game.

The fact that the installers are right at the BOTTOM of the SECOND post (actually the 3rd one), and then you have to go through the damn SourceForge repository to get the right one...unbelievably annoying. My aim is to recreate as many (old) minifigures in LEGO Racers. Right now I'm focusing on LEGO Space minifigures. This is what I already textured. Long after their famous mission to Planet U, the LEGO Rock Raiders have traveled to a jungle planet on the far side of the galaxy. Beneath the planet's surface, they have discovered that the planet is rich in Brickonium Energy Crystals and other rare minerals. However, much like Planet U, these underground caverns are home to beings of living rock and crystal. But then, as the Rock Raiders stumble the ruins of an underground insectoid civilization, they uncover some dark secrets of the past... including one of the insectoids' "little" experiments. Calcite Copter The Rock Raiders Calcite Copter is a one-man aircraft designed for quick travel in underground caverns. Its sleek design lets it cut through the air with ease during flight, while its propeller, stabilized by means of advanced Rock Raider technology, gives it full vertical access to descend into the deepest underground trenches. The Calcite Copter also has a mounted mining laser turret that, when powered up with blue Brickonium, can cut through even hard rock with ease, although it expends much of the crystal's energy in doing so. Although designed for speed and maneuverability, the Calcite Copter is not particularly well-armored, and Jet was in for a horrific surprise when she stumbled upon this cybernetic rock monster! Gallery Cybernetic Rock Monster There is no name for this monstrosity, although some of the Rock Raiders have taken to referring to it by the nickname "Mad Jack". This ancient creature was once made of living rock and crystal, much like most of the rock monsters throughout the LEGO Universe. However, it was cybernetically enhanced by a civilization long since ruined, which replaced entire parts of its rock body with incredible machinery powered by a powerful energy crystal implanted into its chest. Now, this terror roams the underground caverns of the planet, posing a nightmare to anyone unfortunate to meet its rock claws and steel teeth. Gallery ----- This was a project I was working on since late 2010. The idea for the cybernetic rock monster was loosely inspired by Mad Jack from Donkey Kong 64. Don't care about the price. I bought my PS3 for $600 back in 2008, i'm still using it today. I got my monies worth out of it. For people who can't afford it day dot, layby & rental exists. High specs give it more potential and more longevity. I am by no means a graphics is everything guy, no quite the opposite, however I do enjoy a nice sparkly effect now end then... especially shiny cars.

That means you aren't sure it can happen, therefore it is still a concept, and due to your reliance on the cooperation of someone else, even more likely to fall through. The idea could be decent IF it could be followed through with a half decent plot and fairly good animation, but I don't see evidence of either. (A single model made by someone else doesn't count as evidence towards good animation.)

It's a tough love we share. I would love to play the good guy more often, but I believe that sometimes you need to push a person a little hard if you want to get them to excel to the best of their efforts. Sorry if you took any personally. I do recommend taking it at face value and trying to look at it as constructive criticism, even if I do sometimes go extra harsh just to try get a cheap joke in. I took a quick look over the site. The one thing they do seem to have is some creative ideas. Mind you, a lot of what I'm seeing has been done before and better, but I like to think at least some of them are genuinely under the belief they are creating a fantastic new game that's never been released...now only if they could work on their implementation skills... Not exactly; the point is, we want you to show us something we don't expect. Basically, the more you get done, the more impressed we will be. Of course, coding is difficult, but it might have been a little better if you slowly progressed, occasionally posting screenshots and telling us what you've included, and once most of the gameplay seems to be in a working state and you've got a few units (rock raiders, buildings, vehicles etc) prepared, then maybe have released it and told us to give you feedback on how the project is so far. A lot of the problem with people starting work is that if they don't show us a lot of progress, we take it as a joke. We really need to see commitment, dedication, and a lot of effort to take something seriously. Well, do remember, we have short attention spans, so if you don't check in regularly we will probably, unfortunately, forget you. Sorry about that... I'm going to be honest, I'd still call that a fan game, even if it is with slightly different gameplay. If you changed the graphics and the characters, then I'd be more willing to accept it as a new thing. It definitely couldn't hurt. Do be prepared for people to dissect it, but again, we want to help. The games industry is very big, and if you want to have people playing your game, sooner or later you do need to listen to the (potential) fans.

WHY ARE WE YELLING? DID I MISS SOMETHING?

I love these, especially the mechanic. It's too bad that we can't change the models to create (accurate) new pieces for the build, or I'm missing something out here.

*cough* I don't normally try these games, mainly because I always have a deep-seated fear of what horrors lurk within them. Before I go on the negative, some positives first. The game loads quick, which is nice. Raiders move fast. Game shuts down quick. Unfortunately, that's all I got. The game breaks if you Alt-Tab, which I frequently need to. There's no Pause menu, the game just closes. There's no crystals or ore. What the flippin' dolphins were you thinking when you decided that you need to right-click to see squares? What is a "Basis"? Shouldn't it be called "Base", or more correctly, "Tool Station"? Why can the raiders walk on the "Basis"? Why is the interface so limited? You can't shovel rubble, so why is it listed as a priority? Walking speed is the same for ground and rubble. What is with the numbers that appear in the corner and then suddenly the Rock Raiders run around randomly digging walls? I pressed a button that appeared and they went beserk... Furthermore, I was able to spam the teleport button about 1000 times. The raiders just walked in a pretty conga line until the game lagged so bad I needed to kill it (Esc button no longer worked). I know it's meant to be like a basic alpha, but still...you could probably have told us how limited it was instead of just saying "New Release!" Hmmm... I'll download the pack and have a look EDIT: Found the problem. LH cutscene expressions use files in MENUDATAC_AWARD[1-4] and MENUDATAWIN[RR]CAR. Only the LH and RR files use the files in there though, so all other heads can be modified in MENUDATAPARTDB as normal.
