My Life As A Composer
Lair and 2 others reacted to Drill Master for a blog entry
Dear All, Some of you may know that I like music a lot, And that I have actually composed my own music. I have posted a few of my works on Skype and have gotten good feedback, so I am posting my works here for all of RRU to hear. Feel free to comment, criticize, suggest changes, or request anything. I have been composing since Freshman Year 5 years ago. I have played the Alto Saxophone in band for 6 years, and I also play the piano. I have loved the piano ever since I was young. My first keyboard had 32 keys but it was very small. Next I moved up to a 37 key keyboard which was bigger, but I quickly grew too old for it. My current keyboard has 61 full size keys. My choices of music are Soundtracks (video game and movie), New Age (relaxing instrumentals and ambience), Inspirational/Motivational, Classic Rock, and Today's Music. I can play music well by ear, and I have also written piano sheet music. I will update as I compose new works, or dig up some of my old ones. My first work is called "Rise", which some of you have heard on Skype: Rise.mid You need a MIDI Player to listen to it. I use Synthesia. It is free and works well. Other choices are also available. Synthesia Link: http://www.synthesiagame.com/ So have a listen, and see what you think! Notice: I take all of my work seriously. This music is not to be reproduced in any way, unless given permission by me. DM3 points -

You may have noticed that I was messing around with the LEGO Racers demo files earlier. After some more tinkering and experimenting I came up with this: What do you think? Any improvements you think it needs? I did try to get rid of the buildings but the game crashed whenever I tried anything. They don't stand out as much with the background I put in anyway. If for some reason anyone wants to use this in a video or something, feel free. I can put a download link up somewhere if you don't like ripping from youtube.3 points -

Taste of Music
Car CrazeXVI reacted to Ben24x7 for a blog entry
Todays topic, music... Music is like... like... how do I start? It is like a book, it can be good, exciting and joyful at some points but then there are the bad parts of the song. It might be fast, slow or just right. Every one has a different taste. Say someone liked Orchestra (such as me) and someone else likes rock, someone likes techy noises in music, etc... Music allows the feel of happiness, sadness, all different emotions to come to the mind. It doesn't even matter if the music is a new release or one before the 21st century. Even music in games (such as the ones in Rock raiders for example) sound good. There is one problem, when we want to create a piece of music we get stumped at how the song should sound, how fast the tempo should be, etc. And yes, I got this feeling when I tried to create some soundtrack for The Unexpected agent PROJECT. What better way to start creating music than cheating? That is exactly what I did for my soundtrack piece 'Welcome to the CITY'. One thing I suggest when you cheat is not to remix someone else's track, you would probably start to steal songtracks and mix them up rather than create your own. I cheated by having the IPad play for me while I recorded the sounds that came from it. The result was brilliant but I am unable to upload the song onto here but it is quite an upbeat, joyful song. It doesn't take a while to create some music, all you need is some decent music software (such as Garageband) and a range of instruments either on the computer/tablet or real physical ones. After a while of recording you are done, just export it and you can show the entire world what you have made. Sometimes the music you like is the one you made, when I made 'Welcome to the CITY' I couldn't help listening to it multiple times since I liked it so much. I have the file attached to this blog. It is the song 'Welcome to the CITY' (The one I cheated on). You can enjoy it if you want. This may not have been a detailed or good blog but I thought I might have a say on a subject I have never spoken about anywhere else on the internet.1 point -

Not sure if this is a compliment or insult. Also is it "based" or "biased"?1 point -

... Coming from a composer, I don't get stumped when creating music. I sit down at my piano, play some random notes, and when I hear something that clicks, I get to work. "What better way to start creating music than cheating?" Um, explain what you mean by this because what I am hearing is the equivalent of plagerism and breaking copyright law. All the music I compose is strictly from my own creation. I listen to music for inspiration, but I don't take any elements from them. Also, you can add that song to the blog by editing it and adding the file. It will come up as a download, so members will have to download to listen to it.1 point -
Cutscene base
Fush reacted to Jimbob for a topic
...but Frozen Frenzy is only the fifth level? I distinctly remember that this cutscene comes between Frozen Frenzy and the next level because at the end of Frozen Frenzy you uncover a cavern containing the Tunnel Transport and (as Ben mentioned) a small base made to represent this one. Looks like we were both wrong.1 point -

8th Console Generation - Wii U vs. Playstation 4 vs. Xbox One
Fush reacted to Cirevam for a topic
I found more statistics: I'm not sure what to make of this console generation. The last console I seriously wanted was the Gamecube, and the Wii was a bit "yeah sure, let's get one." I don't have any real interest in these new consoles, but maybe that's because I have a computer that's not trash. Before I got this one, consoles were my only option for quality gaming experiences.1 point -

Rock Raiders montage
aidenpons reacted to McJobless for a topic
You people need education. Basically, these are a parody of the constant gameplay montages people upload to YouTube, claiming to be "MLG" (Major League Gaming, in other words "Professional). The creators of said montages usually displayed foul behaviour, telling people to "get on their level". These videos were created to mock the creators of the original montage. Basically, they use the over-the-top camera tricks, colour filters, text, constant camera cuts, zoom in and outs etc, that original montage makers use, but of course, these guys go WAY over the top, and then use 1337-5p34k and whatnot in the description to parody the behaviour of the montage creators. These things are always hilarious. Especially considering they usually use slower-pace games like Farm/Train/Fork-Lift Simulator and even Internet Explorer.1 point -

The utter stupidity of this type of video fits in quite well with the fact that Rock Raiders are utterly stupid. It's perfect!1 point -
