The old lego.com
Aokpisz and 4 others reacted to Zed for a topic
I decided to check out the 2005 lego.com today using the wayback machine at http://archive.org/ . Here are some pictures: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Xtremestuntman1998/oldlegosite/lego.com_1.png http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Xtremestuntman1998/oldlegosite/lego.com_2.png http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Xtremestuntman1998/oldlegosite/lego.com_3.png http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Xtremestuntman1998/oldlegosite/lego.com_4.png http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Xtremestuntman1998/oldlegosite/lego.com_5.png It was great to see classic minifigs around parts of the site even though this is the late 2005 layout. I think Lego used to acknowledge the existence of older themes more than they do today. What I liked about the old 2005 site was the layout, games/comics/movies, and the avatar customization (The new one is bland in my opinion). I will upload some more pictures later. Unfortunately, many of the games, images, and links are broken. I really wish Lego archived this stuff to keep it alive. Even the comic captions are broken! (In case you don't know or remember what that was, it was a contest where members could add a comic caption to two pictures each month. At the end of the month, the winners would be displayed and the new pictures would be uploaded.) You still can view the blank photos that were current at the time, but you can't view any of the previous winners. Fortunately, some of the games have been restored by the BioMedia Project at http://biomediaproject.com/bmp/ . Not all the games are restored, though. The Great Kanohi Project
aidenpons and 3 others reacted to Prototyke for a topic
It's Monday and although I missed last one I have today's Kanohi completed an ready to - *A second Prototyke wearing a strange gold mask bursts in a flash of light into the room* "Don't show It! Don't show It! In my time stream, the whole world starts to end when you show the RRU community that." the strange new Prototyke frantically yells. "Wait wait wait. Are you wearing what I was going to show today? The - " "NO! DON'T EVEN SAY WHAT ITS CALLED!" screeches the other Prototyke. "... If I can't show the people it, can I at least use it? I could go back in time like Cirevam suggested and get some Toa Mata heads before the brains were put in. I would be cooler than the Doctor!" The normal Prototyke realizes. ... "TheDoctor can't travel through time..." The strange Prototyke finally replies The normal Prototyke lunges for the Prototyke with the funny gold mask on, but the strange Prototyke vanishes in a burst of light leaving only the smell of ozone. "Oh well... No Toa Mata heads for me, but at least I can show you the mask now." And without further ado, the Vahi, the mask of Time, in both orange and gold! See, nothing went wr4 points -

DEMO Kahuka on other tracks
Rock Monster reacted to alan for a topic
Note: Might only work on XP because DEMO doesn't run on Vista/7 (at least for me)! I just wondered how Kahuka would drive in the DEMO mode on his own circuit or on Basil's. Furthermore I wondered what Demo-Kahuka would do on Rocket Racer's Run. So I messed up the track folders in GAMEDATA: At first here's an overview of which folder belongs to which track name: C0R0 = Royal Knights Raceway C0R1 = Imper. Grand Prix C0R2 = Desert Track C0R3 = Moon Magma Marathon C1R0 = Dark forest dash C1R1 = Tribal Island Track C1R2 = Amazon Adventure C1R3 = Ice Race C2R0 = Nightmare-Athon C2R1 = Pirate Skull Pass C2R2 = Temple Trail C2R3 = Alien Asteroid C3R0 = Rocket Racer Run So, because Demo-Kahuka only drives in C0R1, C1R0, C0R3 and C0R2, we have to rename the folders. We now want to make Demo-Kahuka drive on his own circuit. So we rename the folders: C0R1 to C1R1 C1R0 to C0R0 C0R3 to C1R3 C0R2 to C1R2 and C1R1 to C0R1 C0R0 to C1R0 C1R3 to C0R3 C1R2 to C0R2 Because windows will accuse you to use one folder name multiple times, add any letter behind the renamed folder, e.g. C0R1 -> C1R1x Later you just remove the added letters (here: the x). (Hope you could follow what I meant, if not, please ask!) So, now we have switched the races of Circuit 1 and 2 (and 4 and 5, so the mirrored versions). But when you now start the game (after recompiling), the races will crash when you try to start them. So now we have to change the RACEC*R*.RAB files located in the track folders. For example, when you now go into RACEC1R1 (= the renamed Imp. Grand Prix) you will find a file called RACEC0R1.RAB Rename it to RACEC1R1.RAB and do the same with all other modified track names (so the RAB file names have to match with the folder names they are located in!). When you're done, [recompile (DATA method doesn't work for me)] and start the game. To check if you have done everything all right, go to Single Race and try each race. There should be the picture of Imp. Grand Prix but the race is the Tribal Island Track when you start it. So when you checked it, go to main menu and wait until DEMO-Kahuka starts to race. What happens when DEMO-Kahuka drives on non-demo tracks? When the race starts - the time when the camera flies to the player's position - Kahuka will already slide a bit forward. When the 3 appears, he will stop to move and idle until the race itself begins. Now Demo-Kahuka's race physics is not the typical AI driving physic. He drives the race as if you (as a player) have won or lost a race (when the camera looks to the back). You may already have recognised that this physic often drives as a drunk and so Demo-Kahuka does (especially in Amazon Adventure Alley). But sometimes - often when Kahuka crosses the finish line after Lap 1 - Demo-Kahuka jumps in the non-demo tracks. When he is done with that jumping he will behave as in the normal demo tracks. So after that 'jump' his racing physics are typically AI again and additionally he will be able to drive the right way again without any trouble. Of course you can do the same with circuit 3 races and also with RR's Race. Have fun messing Kahuka up If you have some more questions, please ask me EDIT: Special Thanks to RobExplorien for his video that shows Kahuka's strange behavior on Rocket Racer Run:1 point -

Project Terranova: MOC WIP
PeabodySam reacted to RRChief for a topic
Hey guys, I'm here to present my newest MOC, it's still a WIP as I wanted to ask you all for your views and recommendations before I begin work on the real thing. Basically, Project Terranova is meant to be the Rock Raiders' main HQ building from which they co-ordinate all their mining operations from. The building consists of five main parts, the four outer squares and the big rectangle base. Two of the outer squares each house a Guardian-class defense tower from my Guardian Outpost MOC (consisting of a laser cannon and sonic emitter dish) for base protection. The other two outer squares each house a power pylon unit to supply power to the base. The main part of the building is where all operations and communications are handled. The building will be built on the 32 x 48 RR HQ baseplate. Some parts are missing (e.g. the laser cannon) as LDD does not have them. What I'm worried about is that it might look a bit too similar to my Guardian Outpost MOC, making it lose a bit of its uniqueness. Also, I don't really know what else to add to the building to give it more interactive features. I wanted to add a control tower to the top of it, but now I'm thinking of building something like a huge laser cannon instead. Could you guys give me your views on it? Does the appearance look okay? And what would you recommend I change/remove or features that I should add to it? Thanks!1 point -

If it moves, I'd imagine that it would be something like... well... Let's scale that up a little... This is an epic MOC, I'd love to see the final product. Right now I can't think of suggestions for extra bits though. Is it just me or does the main body look a little like Ogel's Mountain Fortress?1 point -

Lucky. I had to get the orange one because I wasn't wiling to spend the 8 USD for a gold one. There was a time I wasn't insane? I assumed I was always like this. Maybe I should go back in time and check.1 point -

Minecraft is nothing like Rock Raiders. One is an overhead RTS, the other is a first person sandbox.1 point -
LEGO AcceleRacers [OVERHAUL MOD]
Jack Bluebeard reacted to plakrast for a topic
Okay, I've just played through the track, and I can say I definitely see what you mean in that the paths aren't smooth. That's not really a problem, I guess, it's just that sometimes it seems unfair when they appear to zip past with no warning. I was able to come in first on the first try, however. I think the most difficult part may have been the new powerup layout combined with the more aggressive racers; it ruined my typical racing line, but the race was still fresh and provided a hearty challenge. So, good job! By all means, continue!1 point
