Was Buck Pounds going to appear in the PC version of LI2 at one point?
Lind Whisperer and 4 others reacted to ProfessorBrickkeeper for a topic
Hmm... Knowing the vast amount of quality put into LI2, it doesn'tbsurprise me to see that the original image was taken in editor and the developers didn't bother to edit out the XYZ axis thing in the lower left corner.5 points -
New version of ROCK RAIDERS - update

I thought I would share some good news on the remake of Lego Rock Raiders, we were going to call it Block Raiders (due to Lego trademark on the RR name, however the good news is that the trademark has expired and also the extra time they have to renew it, and we have just registered the 'Rock Raiders' trademark ourselves. The name will live on.2 points -
New version of ROCK RAIDERS - update
Biorune and one other reacted to PeabodySam for a topic
As I expressed over in another topic, I'm feeling... reservations regarding the future of this new game, especially given Data Design Interactive's post-LEGO Rock Raiders reputation, and just another piece of Wii shovelware titled "Rock Raiders" would be a travesty to the original. That being said, I definitely want to see where this goes, and I do hope that in the end, by being so close to such a dedicated community during the development of this new game (especially through this topic), you can successfully recapture that lightning which made the original game so memorable and create a new game that can live up to its predecessor's legacy. It definitely won't be easy, though, but I wish you the best of luck, and again thanks for sharing this with us.2 points -

Hey, welcome to RRU! I'm sure you'll enjoy it here As for the installers, le717's alternate installers fix a lot of bugs (I had to use his LEGOLAND one to install my copy), so it's up to you if you wish to use them.2 points -

Hi! I'm a 14 soon to be 15 year old boy from Denmark. I'm VERY new to forum, and i always wished that there were this forum (and that the old lego games still had an active community) I have Racers 1, Loco and Island 1 (Not counting newer games) I have a quick question before i begin installing again: do i use the official installers or the installers provided here: http://www.rockraidersunited.org/topic/3904-alternate-lego-video-game-installers/ I found this awesome website (or forum) here: http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Lego_Racers Greetings from Johan AKA Skashe1 point -
Rock Raiders for the IPad/Tablet?
lol username reacted to PeabodySam for a topic
It's not only a matter of the console being obsolete with the release of the Wii U. At first, I was excited about the whole prospect of DDI working on a spiritual successor to LEGO Rock Raiders... but if the Wii is being considered as a format for the game... well, I hate to be blunt, but DDI hasn't exactly had the best reputation when it comes to Wii games. And that terrifies me (in a mild sense of minor terror that one would feel for something otherwise nonlethal and unimportant as a videogame loosely based off your favorite Danish toyline, as opposed to genuine terror in a life-threatening situation, which of course would be silly and inane to be feeling in this case). Do not think of me as being ungrateful for what you are doing. Despite my reservations, I still feel great anticipation towards seeing this spiritual successor, and if you can manage to catch lightning in a bottle twice, then I will be most excited indeed. With that, I wish you the best of luck. However, I just don't want to see the legacy of LEGO Rock Raiders end up as just another piece of mediocre shovelware for a console already oversaturated with mediocre shovelware, and I hope you folks at DDI can understand that.1 point -

New version of ROCK RAIDERS - update
STUDZ reacted to Lair for a topic
They're property of LEGO so no, I doubt it, and if I'm wrong and the trademark covered them too I really hope the game won't anyway. Besides something about things being let rest, it would feel fan fiction-y and uncreative. On that note, I'm going to be the pooper and say that for some reason I really don't like DDI having and using this name now. I'm not really sure why I don't, but I don't. Sorry, Stewart, just ignore me and listen to the happy people. [/overly negative criticism]1 point -

How could I dare ignoring this topic??? A new Rock Raiders with new graphics and ideas we can suggest? A dream comes true! Rewards such as beta-access and level-building would be awesome! I would also offer myself to be a level designer if required. Now here are things I suggest / support: There can be several ore types that are used in different ways, some types with more quality (rare) and some that can be found everywhere (low-quality, basic ore). The idea of refining the ore types to get building materials is great, there could be buildings that refine ore and the materials have to be stored in a huge storage building/on a storage area. The upgrading of buildings could also be done with better material (that was produced in a refinery) so that the buildings look slightly different and have more functions. And because you need materials to build, mining tools to get ore a level could start like this: You start off with a tool store that contains hand-held mining tools and a simple refinery for low-quality ore. When you mined the first walls and refinded the ore to building material, it is temporarily stored on a small pile beside the tool store. Then you can build new buildings, such as a better and bigger refinery that is able to refine better ore to better materials. You can now also build a bigger storage house/storage area for the material. Then you can get better material and so you can go on constructing and upgrading your base (including refinery and storage room). There are several other things that might be useful in the caves: You can create pillars to support the cave ceilings so that cave-ins and landslides occur less often (of course you could create pillars of different quality that do not collapse so quickly --> different ore types) Bridges (already suggested) would be very useful, an idea of how to construct them: If the river (no matter if lava or water) is not very wide, Rock Raiders can build them from land. There are different sizes of bridges you can build: a simple Rock Raiders bridge, a bridge for small and one for large vehicles (of course they cost a lot more material). If the rivers are wide you will have to get water/lava vehicles to build the bridges over the river. The wall-mining system should be a little more realistic: when a single Rock Raider drills only at one place at the wall, only this part on the wall should crush, not the whole wall. With that method there could be several sizes of tunnels between the caves: a small corridor for RR only or a huge hall-like tunnel for vehicles and so on. These are my ideas, all other great ideas have already been mentioned and I didn't have anything to add. I'm really excited on how this will end, I would love to support this project!1 point -
Dumping my RR dream here because.
Car CrazeXVI reacted to Addictgamer for a blog entry
Right kiddies, I want you to listen to this awesome experience I'm archiving here. Last night, I had a recurring dream. And in this dream, were a bunch of rockraiders. It was that one weird level I often end up playing in RR dreams. However, this time, I found several interesting and different things: A) There were two new floor types. The first was a modification of Ice, and the second was some sort of purpley weird rocky? ground. B) There was a big blue crystal/stalagmite growing out of the floor. If I clicked on it, I could tell my raiders to harvest red energy crystals and some weird grey stuff C) There was a big purple crystal/stalagmite growing out of the floor nearby. Clicking on it showed it was some sort of machine/device that was asking for 4 red energy crystals. D) My raiders brought them over and suddenly I was brought to a cutscene of this giant chained thing breaking free. It was some kind of cool rockmonster with armor. Its helmet was red and white. Then it broke out of the armor and transformed into a mostly noncorpeal being that was surrounded in black mist/darkness/poor special fx. Then the cutscene ended and the "boss battle" began in this odd cave with the guy from the cutscene and the raiders who had brought the crystals. D1) I had the premonition that defeating him was the alternate way to win the game since he was supposed to be some kind of secret final boss, as opposed to merely beating all the levels. So, yay. Cool dream worthy of archiving. May this serve as inspiration for me and other people someday.1 point -
LEGO Media Alternate Installers
LimeKiller reacted to le717 for a topic
How did I miss this yesterday... Most likely so. While I would like to rewrite all the classic game installers, I don't own them all, and I usually rewrite the more troublesome installers first (that's why I haven't done an Island 2 or IXS installer yet. Both are 32-bit, and don't have any issues). I haven't had any issues with the Stunt Rally installer, and since I haven't seen (m)any other people have issues, so I haven't started one. That being said, if I feel like writing an installer soon (and don't feel like updating my LEGOLAND installer to match the original, I'll make an Stunt Rally one because you asked. :)1 point -
Rock Raiders for the IPad/Tablet?
ProfessorBrickkeeper reacted to StewartG for a topic
Getting Rock Raiders on ipad is definatekly possible. If it can work on a PS1 then th eipad is technically capable. Creating an interface which uses the touch screen would probably be the biggest challenge. We are planning the new version of Rock Raiders(AKA Block Raiders) and Wii, Android, and ipad are all planned as new formats. You have all kept Rock Raiders alive, so you can help on the new design - how do you think the control system could/should work for the touch screen versions - the Wii controller for hacking and shooting is an obvious advantage. Please let us know.1 point -

Just saying: Are you trying to bump this thread? I believe you've said this quite a few times..... Anyway, I DID watch the show. Noticed that ship they fly in is BIGGER ON THE INSIDE and can travel through worlds (I smell a TARDIS). Basically, it's old-school Doctor Who without time travel... and they stay on one world. The acting is meh, the effects are meh, and it smells strongly of POWER RANGERS. And yet... I'm still watching it. WHY???1 point
