2013 Grand Prix Octan Racer

As seen in set no. 60025, Grand Prix Truck. It needs some tweaking, mostly color blending. Tell me if you want a release. I have no intentions of making alternate expressions.

PAC Extractor 2.0 (now with -all option)

I recently found a couple of bugs in my old PAC Tools, so I've gone and re-written a new version of my PAC Extractor program. You may ask why I haven't re-written the PAC builder program. Well, the answer is that I have discovered that Alpha Team will read files directly from the program's folder (all files must be in the same folder as the .exe). This is great for modding possibilities, since if a modified version of a file exists in the 'LEGO Alpha Team' folder, the game will read it INSTEAD of the one in the .pac archives. It also means that to mod the game, no .pac builder is required (I also can't figure out how to properly rebuild a .pac file, so that's your real reason ) Anyway, here's a link to the file: https://www.rockraidersunited.com/files/dl-r207/ It can also extract ALL of the games .pac files at once. Just extract 'PACExtracter2.exe' to your 'LEGO Alpha Team' folder and run it with '-all'. Example: "PACExtracter2.exe -all" (without the quotes) NOTE: When using '-all', It will extract each pack file into a folder of the same name. If you modify any of these files, you'll need to move them into the same folder as the 'LEGOATeam.exe' file to make the game load them. EDIT: As requested by le717, here is a utility for rebuilding .pac archives. https://www.rockraidersunited.com/files/dl-r208/ To use it, extract the exe to your hard drive and run it from the command line. You'll have to pass it 2 parameters: the path to an existing copy of the .pac file you want to rebuild, and the path to the folder that contains all the extracted files. The program should bundle all the extracted files back into the .pac file. NOTE: If the program fails for some reason, it might corrupt the .pac file it's working with, so make sure to BACK UP your .pac files before trying to rebuild them.

    Training Mission: The Maze

Here's my new mission: Training Mission: The Maze by alan Back Story: You are here to train yourself in orientation and the right use of vehicles. Find the base using the different vehicles spread out in the cave. Map Objective: Guide the Rock Raider back to the HQ Difficulty: Easy/Medium Installation Instructions: This level will not replace any other level. Put the level folder "Maze" into DataLevelsGameLevels (DATA method) or LegoRR0LevelsGameLevels Then add the level configurations and the custom level setup to your own Lego.cfg (see description in the cfg). When you have done all that correctly, the level should appear at the left side of Frozen Frenzy. IMPORTANT: 1. The Raider at the beginning of the level must be trained as pilot and driver! 2. Because it is not possible to make undiscovered rivers flow into discovered caves (at least without a wall glitch) you must have the Tunnel Transport installed. The Tunnel Transport must be usable and it must be able to carry vehicles just like the Cargo Carrier. Note: Because I'm not that good at npl scripting the level ends very quickly. I tried to insert a short time loop but it seems to be more complicated than I expected. If there's anyone who knows how to write a simple time loop, please contact me! Anyway... Have fun with that map! (if there are people who want to play it) DOWNLOAD

    Training Mission: The Maze

I'll have to try this one out, if only to see what you did with the NPL. I also like the anti-vehicle corner paths in the screenshot.

New version of ROCK RAIDERS - update

Despite my earlier excitement about DDI registering the Rock Raiders trademark, I've started to think about it and I think Fushigisaur summed up my thoughts nicely. Based on what this game sounds like it will be, Block Raiders might be a much better title. Dams are a fantastic idea. Seriously, sounds awesome. Just as long as I don't hear "A dam break has occurred!" every 10 seconds.

    Blockland!

Well, regarding this game coming on Steam (for anyone who cares). I believe it will be happening. On the greenlight page it says "The community has shown their interest in this game. Valve has reached out to this developer to start moving things toward release on Steam." (and yes that colour came with the copy-paste. : P)

PAL PS1 game released a year early?

Both games have such odd differences between them that it's hard to tell which one came first if you don't know the history behind them, which jamesster just added as I was typing this. Here's a list of some obvious differences.
NTSC PAL No jetpack meter Jetpack meter Can squish creatures Creatures block vehicles Items respawn Items do not respawn Fewer levels More levels Can detonate dynamite on command Must wait for dynamite countdown Slide puzzles when loading Mission briefing when loading Not many slugs Too many slugs Six months of work Ten months of work Final level is in a rock biome Final level is in a lava biome
Why did the PAL version remove some of the nice things that the NTSC version has? The world may never know.

PAL PS1 game released a year early?

*ahem* http://www.rockraidersunited.org/topic/4102-lego-interactive-producer-located/?p=85183 The NTSC version is the first version of the game that was made. The PAL version was revised, as Europe rejected the first version, but the US accepted it.

PAL PS1 game released a year early?

Do we know with absolute certainty that it was the NTSC version that was developed first, or is it possible that a few people just got the two versions confused? The PAL version has what seems to be a little more thought put into the missions. If they were really given 3-4 months for to redo the game a second time, I imagine that things would be a little less polished, like the levels in the NTSC version. I've always thought that the idea of them making the NTSC version first seemed a little odd, anyway. It has extra features like the sliding puzzles during mission load times, and the squash-able enemies. It seems strange for them to have removed things that seem like improvements when they developed the PAL version. If the NTSC version was second, then the timeline makes a little more sense. The PAL version would have been developed in six months, and launched in late 1999. The game would have been rejected in the US, leading to the development of the NTSC version, with the inclusion of a few extra features that they didn't have time to finish for the PAL version. I have a US catalog that slates the PlayStation game for release in November 1999. Maybe they decided to push the release to around the same time in 2000 to capitalize on the Christmas season, since the extra development time had taken up to midway through 2000 already. Just a possibility.

    The Great Kanohi Project

I did the Great Huna because I'm running out of this series of masks, so I can't work in reverse order anymore. I noticed that its coloration made it look remarkably like a cough-drop. Cough-Huna anyone?

New version of ROCK RAIDERS - update

Have a few things to chip in at this point. I know my opinions have not been the most well-received yet but... oh well. ABOUT THE MUSIC: I actually wasn't advocating for 'similar sounding music' at all, sorry if there was confusion. I meant that it would be nice if a few songs from the original game got reworked in the style of the new game's music. For example, I'd love if the credits music (PS1, 'results' music in the PC version) returned, or if a PS1 track got reworked as a sort of 'danger' theme for when you are in risk of something bad happening (say, your base is under attack, or about to be engulfed in lava). For normal gameplay calm, ambient music would be nice. ABOUT THE NAME: I have begun to warm up to the 'Block Raiders' name, personally. For me itdepends on how much relation the game has to it's predecessor. If you were to call it 'Rock Raiders 2' and then not have any ties to the original game besides similar gameplay then I wouldn't be pleased. If you're doing a TRUE sequel, same characters, setting, and everything, then go ahead ahead and call it RR2, but if it's just a spiritual successor then Block Raiders in better. ABOUT BUILDINGS: I fully admit, the more I think of it, the comm tower was a terrible idea and I regret suggesting it. Maybe there could be a comm tower for a less frustrating purpose, but I can't think of one. I do have another suggestion to make, though: DAMS. I remember in the original, during one brief Chief mentions that a dam broke and flooded the base and I always wished you could actually build dams in-game. Be able to re-rout water so you have more space for your base, maybe uncover hidden resources. And (forgive me for suggesting this, we can't have it too easy) I would prefer if they occasionally broke. NOT FREQUENTLY, and NOT WITHOUT REASON, maybe because of a monster attack or seismic event, but have the risk there. So there's my thoughts on the matter, feel free to disagree.

    Working on new textures

    From the album: RobExplorien's images

I'm working on a Futuron astronaut's chest/torso. I had some trouble with the zipper, but I worked it out in the end.
