    RRU Quotes 2008-2013

[10:51:00 PM] jamesster: And the hippie dressed as a wizard is voiced by Morgan Freeman [10:51:34 PM] jamesster: The directors said the basic idea for the character was to have a hippie version of Gandalf voiced by Morgan Freeman who sounds respectible but is utterly looney [10:53:11 PM] Sophie Mewsalot: I'm not sure how to respond to that.

New version of ROCK RAIDERS - update

One thing you need to remember with minecraft is you have a massive world but you have ridiculous amounts of common resources (coal and iron). If you don't have mods you might as well start making buildings out of iron blocks. You need to balance expansive landscapes with the amount of resources in a given area. Needing to refine resources would also help to some extent. Just something to keep in mind.

    LEGO Racers Recreations

UPDATE: If you'd like to build these models yourself, check out the part lists and instructions I've made here. LEGO Racers Recreations The characters in Lego Racers are so great, that after seeing many pictures of people's recreations of them, I decided I had to have my own. Not just the bosses though, but all 24 racers in the game. Using jamesster's great LDD boss racer designs he uploaded, as well as my own LDD opponent car designs, I have collected the first 12 of the 24 racers in the game - all character's for circuits 1, 2, 4, and 5. I'm very proud of them, and in my excitement thought I'd share them with you First, here are pictures of them all together: More detail on the Circuit 1/4 cars: Captain Redbeard I think Captain Redbeard is pretty epic, although unfortunately due to his peg leg he doesn't sit down very well. Ann Droid This guy has the black car that several opponents share, but is still quite fun. Governor Broadside A bright character, at some point I'll replace the back flag with a 2x2 plate and a printed decal to be more like the game's one. Pharaoh Mummy I think this guy is pretty cool too, his car just seems to work nicely. Robin Hood Ah, Robin Hood, one of my favourites from the game. As his centre sloping section isn't available in green, I had to do some DIY. At first I tried dyeing it like Jamesster suggested, but unfortunately melted the bricks and the dye barely started to work - instead of trying again I figured I wouldn't waste money when the colour was darker than I wanted anyway. So I painted the parts, choosing to do all the green ones for consistency. The flash makes the brush strokes more obvious... And also the minifigure arrived with a split leg and scratches on its back, despite being described as 'good condition', but I guess that's to be expected from Bricklink every now and then. Johnny Thunder And finally, Johnny Thunder, another of my favourites. I think the game designers did well to make his car look so cool. More detail on the Circuit 2/5 cars: King Kahuka Ook-ah-ook-ook. Ook-ah-ah-ook-ah, ah-ook-ook-ah-ook. Ah-ook-ah-ook-ook-ah-ook. Achu Grrr, a chipped face (not visible here)! Well, his car is still cool. That green clip at the back, which King Kahuka also has, is only available in two sets so had to be shipped over from two different sellers in Canada and the USA, these racers are a mixture of USA, UK and Canadian blood Commander Cold Brrr, this guy's so cool. Islander Another of the black car owner's, but still epic. I kind of want to hug him. Wait, I'll be right back. Okay, next up... Royal Knight All hail the king! This guy defends royalty with a rather interesting blend of blue and red. Baron Von Baron He probably has one of the (if not the) biggest cars, suiting his villainous personality. I wonder what that replacement wheel at the back is for, it's a little too small I also have designed some dioramas to display them on, which fit nicely into my cabinets. Credit to jamesster again for the boss models: Circuit 1 Diorama The space at the back will have a tent in it, and the palm trees obviously leaves on top, I've just never owned one so don't know how they fit on Also the models won't be supported by those stands, it's just for LDD to hold them in place. I was looking for a way to have bricks floating, and this seemed the best to me, but if anyone has any suggestions involving transparent bricks I'd be happy to hear them! Additionally, the bricks will be from the original desert Johnny Thunder sets where possible (e.g. the printed tower things). Circuit 2 Diorama This one isn't as dynamic, but I wasn't sure how to make it so. The castle walls will have the brick textures. So, what do you think?

    Mafia: The Game

*Door opens* *Door closes* *Footsteps* Ah, I love this kind of cold weather, even more thanks to the low humidity! Now if only it were warmer in here... *People stare* Oh, hi guys! I'm Lee (no, and I'm not Stan Lee either). I'm going to be stuck down here with you. I uh... feel asleep on the airplane ride here and the pilot just spotted me a half-hour ago in the back, still sleeping. O.T. It's 41°F with 84% humitidy here where I am IRL. New version of ROCK RAIDERS - update

I'm just going to voice my thoughts on several small things that I'm sure at least some people agree with. I've had enough with the constant Minecraft comparison. Minecraft is good and all, and like what was said before, several elements would work wonderfully, but let's not recreate the game. If the game will be so much like Minecraft, just go develop a mod for Minecraft and be done with it. No need to reinvent the wheel. The game should have its own mechanics, either having a unique combination of mechanics, have a new mechanic, or reuse existing mechanics with great improvements. Something to make the game different. LRR did the first one, combining survival elements with RTS and simulation elements. I don't want a reskin of an existing game - I want a unique game. I get tired of seeing all the Minecraft clones out there. Don't make this another one. That's the impression I get from the Facebook page. I understand all the things we've discussed in this topic, I've even contributed. But the way the Facebook page presents the idea, along with your dismissal of opinions about the game, it seems like a Minecraft recreation (at least in some respect) is being thrown at us. The Block Raiders stylized as 'BLock Raiders' - Cirevam nailed it here. When I saw the page, I thought it was a typo with the shift key - it was the forum post here that showed me that it was indeed intended. I don't like it - a nifty logo would do good, even calling it BR would be better. But BLock Raiders just seems like a typo to me. I do however like the recent stuff on the Facebook page. The concept art, the 3D models, the ideas post - all these are good things. It should be filled with these things rather than Minecraft screenshots. LRR stuff is good too, though the vast majority should be stuff that pertain to the current game.

    LEGO Racers Recreations

I haven't got any more photos of new racers/dioramas yet, but I thought I'd share this little gallery I made of circuit 1/4's racers. Basically, I wouldn't have built any of these models (let alone got back into LEGO Racers) if it wasn't for RRU, so I really want to be able to share them with you all as best as I can. Like the 360-degree rotations I made of my other two recent MOCs, I have taken a bunch of pictures of each model and turned it into a 360-degree gallery. The amount of pictures I took of each one varied as I started off taking loads with Captain Redbeard and gradually got more and more impatient Unfortunately, Ann Droid's photos got a little messed up in the processing so aren't great. Anyway, view the 360 degree rotation online here! (Or in the OP). System Requirements: 1024x768 screen resolution minimum (if this is your screen resolution, set your browser to full-screen) Adobe Flash Player 11.2 or higher (should be automatically updated in Chrome) You may need to wait for the images to download depending on your connection, if the screen is blank on a model's gallery then wait for a minute Click on an image to select its model, rotate the model with the left and right arrow keys, and click the yellow back arrow to return to the main menu. Enjoy! Oh, also, I scratch built myself a mini photo studio which I used to take these photos. I stupidly forgot to take a picture but will do a.s.a.p.
