LEGO Universe Version of Rocket Racer's Car
Alcom Isst and 2 others reacted to emily for a topic
Not too terribly long ago, in 2011, a contest was hosted on the LEGO Universe website challenging entrants to design their own car based on the standard chassis used in the game. Being a fan of the original LEGO Racers game, I had the idea to build an adaption of Basil the Batlord's car from it to fit the LEGO Universe car chassis. The result didn't win the contest, but I had such fun building it that I resolved to build the rest of the LEGO Racers circuit leaders' cars on the Universe chassis. Some of the results turned out better than others, and when I reached the final car, Rocket Racer's, I decided that it wouldn't be viable for me to construct a reasonable facsimile of the the original with my collection. So I skipped it. Recently I decided on a whim to try anyway. The result was not nearly so terrible as I had imagined, although I still feel that the sloping portion at the front is perhaps just a little too long. More images: Another angle Front Side Back Back Angle Top The modular pieces: The chassis. I cheated a little and altered it from the standard form to make the finished design possible.3 points -

The End of an Era

Sorry for the delayed reply. I haven't given anything away that I had very fond memories with, (not that I can remember) but the things I do have, I will have a hard time parting with. It started with the nintendo system that my parents had. Me and my brother started gaming on it, mostly with Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland, and others (LoZ and FF). We'd play and play until bed when allowed. We had a lot of fun with the NES. Then we leveled up to the W98, with games like Croc and Frogger, and HT WoS, Midtown Madness. (can't forget about Pajama Sam and Putt Putt). We had so much fun, on the small monitor that we owned. In reality those games and consoles are buried away now due to lack of compatibility with modern technology. They were great machines and served there purpose to the extreme. I don't remember exactly when, but we got GBC's and would play Pokemon through the cable link. Then GBA's and games, then I got an GBA SP, but my brother had fallen off the Nintendo train and I stayed on. Then one day Christmas morning came around. We woke up to see what Santa had brought us. We rushed into the living room to see a huge green box with a red bow. We dragged our parents into the room. They told us to lift up the box together, and as we did, A brand new TV and PS2 were revealed. This was our most cherished console for the longest time. Tak and the Power of Juju, ATV, Tomb Raider, LEGO Star Wars to name a few games we had. Of course, getting older led to games like GTA 3 and CoD and soon our PS2 finally slowed it's self down in it's old age and began to not read memory cards or discs, and slowly found itself packed away. Then, my uncle across the street stepped in and saved the day. He had bought an Xbox 360 (the original white) and brought his Xbox and all his old games over for us to have. That move sparked something I love the most in games. Yep here it is. Halo. I had actually started Halo 2 first because my uncle couldn't find his Halo CE copy. Of course I loved it. A lot. It's me and Halo. I played 2, and then got CE from a friend at school (borrowed). Then my uncle found his copy and so on. Of course Halo wasn't the only games we had. There was more Tomb Raider, my brother found Forza 3, I rage quit on Morrowind cause I stole a staff from a house and died (derp). Good memories. Sadly, I wanted more Halo. I played CE and 2 enough to know everything about them. Enemies, vehicles, I was quoting the cutscenes. I wanted more. Needless to say, I was finally able to play Halo 3. Unfortunately, it was in Kentucky when we stayed at my cousin's house for my grandpa's funeral. I played it the merely to keep my mind off things at the time. Insert random I got a DS Lite and Pokemon SS here. Another Christmas came, and my brother and I opened another box. (Also a flatscreen for the living room from my uncle when he bought a 3D TV) And it was the sleek black Xbox 360 with a game bundle with Skyrim, Halo Reach, Forza 4, and others. This has gone on too long as is, so short ending. Played Halo Reach, aquired all Halo games and all matching soundtracks. Skyrim stuff. multiplayer with my bro. Insert I got DSi XL because Lite broke here. Pokemon black 1 and 2. Laptop for Graduation. random gaming blah blah blah, hope for 3DS and Pokemon X this Christmas. blablablab Too much typing. fingers hurt. I know we won't be on this site forever, I can't, with life digging into my shoulder, trying to kick up my music career, my game idea, and other things, and it will hurt to let it go, but I don't plan on doing that any time soon. I will make the most of this site in the time I have with it, with you guys. Thanks for being here, Ben. I've had fun, I'm having fun, and I will continue to have fun with you around. Feels all around. I can't continue any more. Sore hands. The End. Edit: GOOD GAWD #WALLOFTEXT #GREATWALLOFCHINA WOW SUCH WALL SO TEXT!1 point -

Nice, sorry I couldn't get back to you on this myself until now, been rather busy as of late. But yeah, I just used a hex editor add-on for notepad++ to copy the binary bits personally, seeing as these files are about half binary, half plaintext, but as you know, the method you used works just as well.1 point -
"Classic LEGO Games" Getting Mobile Release In Early 2014
aidenpons reacted to le717 for a topic
Now, I must compromise. The first Star Wars game, it was a good game. I never played the full thing myself, but I did play the PC demo once. It was different, a break from the previous LEGO games. LSW 1 could very well be called a classic LEGO game, not on the same level as the true classic ones, but an actual classic because it was (at the time) a unique game. It's only in hindsight when they've reused and improved the same formula over and over again does the originality of the original game becomes boring, redundant, and almost shovel-ware, leading to disappointment over this news.1 point -

Bad Translations
Quisoves Potoo reacted to Arthuriel for a topic
I translated the sentence "Chief is one of the six main Characters from Rock Raiders. " dozens of times, because I wanted to know, how many weird translations are possible. Here are the best examples (I had four open tabs with the bad translator to get more translations in the same time. Sorry that I have so many translations, but I couldn't decide, which ones were better): ...8 translations later, Bing gives us: "Stone is one of the six main characters, General Manager of the pirates." Comment: Best job description ever. I hope, that Pirate General Manager "Stone" will appear in Rock Raiders II results with 35 translations and Bing: "The six main characters die, how many people." "The stone is an important part of the President of the Republic. Hunter 6" "Rock Raiders is the sixth sign of the Governor." "Pirates of People's Republic of China is one of six characters." "Kennedy in part 6 of the Israel Army Commander." "Geology of Indonesia: philosophy, Zhang Jing." "This is a 6, a former Bush virus." "President George w. Bush's sins." "The six main characters: bandits" "List of Presidents of the hijackers." "The robbers and one of the main characters in a line to success, as Chairman of the meeting." "6 four main characters are 2 thieves." "The main character was one of the six walls." "Sign up for the theft of the stone 6." "The cross was stolen. Two big 6" "One of the first female President of India 6: Jones is amazing." "Hollywood Hunter 2-6" "Hands of Stone, one of the participants in the market." "Rock band 6" "Genre: pop rock Raiders 6 Sunday." "Rock Raiders 6." "The key was stolen."1 point -

Seeing the 1973 brickfilm stop-motion reminded me of a series of other pretty old (looking) LEGO stop-motion videos. The fun thing is, no actual minififures are used here. Here is my favorite video of this series: LEGO Sports.1 point -

Dude, those kinds of things. They're like my lego dreams come true. Ah, one of my favorite chiptunes. Those aren't cool. Those are awesome. Now to share my own: What's better than a Cthulhu? A LEGO Cthulhu. I don't know why, but I like how this minifig and his equipment looks. What's a good story without our intrepid heroes having to cross an old, creaky bridge. I'm sorry, those last two are the LEGO adventurer in me.1 point -

Ah, I've seen some of his stuff before, the pizza delivery ones I found pretty amusing. Though when it comes to humor in LEGO stop motions, I tend to prefer more... surreal things. And speaking of pizza and surreal humor, this animation by Keshen8 had me cracking up laughing when I first saw it: And of course, SpastikChuwawa is easily the king of surreal but hilarious LEGO stop motion animations: And 0ldScratch... And ZachMG... ... And so many more videos by those guys, and so many other guys with awesome videos, but it appears I can only embed four at a time. :P1 point -

If you've never heard of Rymdreglage, allow me to introduce you to them. They make chiptunes and excellent LEGO stop-motion videos. Great combination. A 3D animated LEGO Pirates video with some cool LEGO water effects: ... And a half-hour-long stop motion animation!1 point
