    Collection of Santa Hats 2013

Now, now. Let's slow down and perform some logical analysis before we jump to conclusions. Santa Claus is a fantasy character with magical powers who works with elves. Fantasy characters with magical powers who work with elves typically appear in fairy tales. Fairy types are super effective against dragon types. By my calculations, Santa Claus is a dragon slayer.

I propose a ground rule: Don't ever quote yourself, unless you are quoting an entire conversation that you had taken part in, and you are not the one providing that 'punchline'. If what you said was funny enough, someone else will quote you. Sound good?

    LEGO Awesomeness

Seeing as we have a massive topic to dump amusing quotes in, I thought it might be cool if we had a topic to dump awesome LEGO stuff in - like, things people have posted on other sites, whether it's individual models, dioramas, 2D or 3D art, or animations. Anything LEGO related you find inspirational. I wouldn't go about posting your own stuff, though, we have a subforum for that - just stuff other people have made. Here's a little something to kick it off.

    Slimy Slug Project

So, I am attempting to make a LEGO compatible slimy slug that can beef up any RR collection. I have carved one out of wood and it turned out pretty nice. The next step is to make one out of clay that I can make a mold for and produce a good number of them. The body is a solid peice with the eyes being levers that have been bent and flattened on the tips to allow for bases on both ends. The model is a little crude as it was painted with acrylic paint (terribly un-smooth) but it means that this may not be as hard as I thought. In time, I intend to make the head swivel, but first I am just going to try it with the head stationary. There will be a few more pictures in my gallery, but let me know what you think or if you have suggestions. It might be cool to have the slugs have a 2x2 platform on their backs to be able to sit rock raiders on there, or maybe energy crystals.

    Quadador

An new machine from RZT Automotive (complete with a really crappy vector badge). Note to self: Make concept art (not even complete) and badge before making the model. Quadador is a concept Motorcycle similar to the Dodge Tomahawk. Like the hawk, it has four wheels, uses chains for the final drive, has a three arm linkage on the front, is moved by a big engine and both are about the same size. But that is where the two stop comparing and start contrasting. For starters, it is made not just to be ridden but to be done so on public roads and if can not be done so legally as is, it should not take much to make it legal. This means it has a lot more lights than the Tomahawk and a windscreen to comply with regs. There is a harness to hold the rider on just in case the screen is not enough. There is no instrument panel. Rather a HUD on the windscreen is used because I found from experience that standard panels are just too far away from the "driving area" to be useful. The engine is in essence, two Wankel Rotatory engines from Mazda RX-8's on a common shaft with two turbochargers, so it should be in the range as a Tomahawk for power. The transmission is a 3-speed sequential with a diff to better preserve the tires. The ground clearance is also greater so getting stuck on a speed bump is a lot less likely.

    Curiosity Rover Set Revealed

The finalized version of the next LEGO Cuusoo set, the NASA Mars Science Laboratory Curiosity Rover, has been revealed over at the official LEGO Cuusoo blog. There's multiple pictures of the model, box art, and creator of the LEGO Cuusoo project (Stephen Pakbaz, a mechanical engineer who worked on the real rover) building the set. Check it out! Losing Man's Best Friend

I remember having to something similar to my cat around three years ago. He was 21 when we had to put him down and literally watching the light leave his eyes. Gyah, it was just plain awful. Our pets grow close to us and we grow together, so when they go it feels like we're losing a part of ourselves. I'm so sorry about Dusty, she sounded like she was an amazing friend to you.

    Losing Man's Best Friend

Sorry for the loss man, I don't really know how it must feel. Though two dogs of other family members died last month which I regularly saw and played with for the last 5 years, but I didn't really feel sad about it. It was better for them to go (due to 'old age problems'). I do have a pet rabbit I take care of every day. He's almost crossing the 12 year border, but surprisingly still very brisk for his age. I could say I can prepare myself on the fact that he (or any pet from anyone) will one day be gone, but that's a lie and I know it.

    Losing Man's Best Friend

You know how to pull heart strings, man. I feel for you. Our dog of 12 years died last year. We has her since a puppy, I was only 4 when we got her. Man, we all loved her and were all crying when we found her, even mom, and she is not a pet person. I'd feel the story, but I can't on mobile. A pet is something you will never forget (even if it was a mean one), and once it dies or is killed or put down, a part of you is gone, and very rarely can that hole be filled. It might be partially, but never completely.

It sucks that we have to see our pets die. I remember when my cat ran away right before a large family sabbatical a few years ago. I never really got closure from that... I hope you feel better soon.

    Review: #4569 Warrior

Review: Review: #4569 Warrior Review by origamiguy Photo Review So I read Review: Review: #4569 Warrior online. It comes with a tongue-in-cheek and humorous review. I'd like the photo a lot, but I have to say, the lack of anti-aliasing on the text leaves my eyes feeling violated! The review is good for kids who are young, as it is only 3 lines, akin to the review it's reviewing! The review is well thought out, and copies the poor writing style of the prior review for comedic effect. The review is like a good skirt; long enough to cover the material, but short enough to keep it interesting. Rating Design: 9 / 10 (1 mark dropped because it doesn't fit on my screen fully)Quality: 100 / 10 Fun: 1000 / 11 (this one goes up to 11.) Price: 10000 / 10 Is it a read it, or a skip it? I would go with read it for anyone who enjoys meta humour, but if you are not a person who likes fun, then it would be a skip it! Total rating: 9.5 (out of 11)

Words Cannot Properly Describe This Game

I dare say, just seeing the last vid, that game is about as bad a game can be. The programming is truly amateur, as are the graphics. Scribbles? Really? Counters overlapping their labels? Vital information being placed BEHIND a wall? Who ever did this did so as a really bad joke or needs to go back to school.

People who've done their research on LEGO Universe will probably have already seen all of this, but here's some concept art for the game. First, some art by Peter Coene: Jerry Meyer: Richard Tran and Jim Stigall: Mike Rayhawk: LEGO Universe had a lot of other concept artists with a ton of awesome concept art, but I don't want to overload this post. Do some searching, and you'll find some incredible stuff! Oh, and as long as I'm linking to Mike Rayhawk's site... BrikWars!

A LEGO Cthulhu. I don't know why, but I like how this minifig and his equipment looks. What's a good story without our intrepid heroes having to cross an old, creaky bridge. Ah, I've seen some of his stuff before, the pizza delivery ones I found pretty amusing. Though when it comes to humor in LEGO stop motions, I tend to prefer more... surreal things. And speaking of pizza and surreal humor, this animation by Keshen8 had me cracking up laughing when I first saw it: And of course, SpastikChuwawa is easily the king of surreal but hilarious LEGO stop motion animations: And 0ldScratch... And ZachMG... ... And so many more videos by those guys, and so many other guys with awesome videos, but it appears I can only embed four at a time. :P
