Yes, exactly. The story is basically about how the various characters met and begin their quest for the 'Red Ruby'. It also tells a few other things like Articus having a pet cobra named 'Cleopatra' or Mr. Hates having lost his hand while stealing a diamond in india.

    RRU Minecraft Server

First of all, my apologies for making so many posts in this topic. But hey, I'm enjoying running this server, and I hope you're enjoying playing it. For those who don't already know, a few new plugins have been installed. You can check out the original post for a list of them (it's a bit messy now...). One plugin of note is Grieflog. It tracks everything everyone does - if you find someone has griefed your creation, stand by it and use the command /glog report. I can then find out who the culprit is. Another plugin of note is Dynmap. The link to it is in the original post. Here's a screenshot from it: Clearly people have been busy Finally, I did look into all the previously requested mods, but feel kinda bad because I haven't installed any for the following reasons: - Custom NPCs, More Player Models, Mystcraft, Portal Gun, Timber Mod* - Rejected as they 1) required Forge, and/or 2) are too game-changing**, and/or 3) are too outdated. - 3DMG Mod - Link wasn't working, and I couldn't find any information about it. *I did search for a Bukkit alternative but that was outdated too. **Several players have said to me they don't mind mods, so long as they don't change the server too much, seeing as it is a Survival server. Happy mining! EDIT: I almost forgot to mention. With so many players now, and because he is frequently online... The Ace Railgun has been made a Moderator!

Actually the overall quality went a bit down in the second year I'm afraid. And actually: what would you expect story-wise from a town-themed TC episode? But don't worry, they didn't jump the shark right yet... Next issue might be a bit better... Have you realized that Town Comic wasn't assembled to provide that story, but is rather just a collage of reused set-box photos or catalogue imagery? It's something that will plague this entire year of issues, just to warn you Also the way they published things changed: The 'Activity Pack' became a physical part of the magazine itself, although in a whee bit strange way. The 'Shop' got shrunken down from DIN A4 to DIN A5, also all the cartoony imagery featuring LEGO characters was cut. A new paperwork was included called 'Mach Mit!' ('Join Us!' might be the closest translation I guess...) A bit earlier than expected, issue 2: http://www.rockraidersunited.org/gallery/album/403-lego-world-club-1998-issue-2/ In case your main interest is the Tim TC comic: The 'Photo' comic mentions the characters. I hope this is general knowledge by now: Joe Freeman=Johnny Thunder Linda Lovelay=Gail Storm/Pippin Read Prof. Articus=Dr. Charles Lightning/Dr. Kilroy Billy Speed=Harry Cane Mr. Hates=Baron von Barron/Sam Sanister Sly Boots=Sam Sinister (they really messed this one up, didn't they?) Ramses III=Pharaoh's Mummy (Inever considered 'pharaoh's mummy' a name, but anyways, the audio drama calls him Ramses IV, both Ramses actually existed in real history... another name that exists for the mummy is 'Hotep' which I consider his real name, though it's a more a mockery of real egyptian names as in Amen-Hotep/Amenophis for example) PS: In case anybody seems interested in that hieroglyphs stuff they mentioned on one page, just be told, I know quite a bit of that stuff and most of what they printed on '98 adventurers bricks IS authentic in a certain way, although most of it reads simply 'RYGO' which is the closest thing one could spell 'LEGO' in ancient egypt ^^ but I guess this is getting a bit off-topic Mergy mergy - jamesster

    And the next day.

Holy crepe, one day has passed since le last entry *gasp* Prepare for a giant moodswing from my last post. Also, I do apologize if my posts become frequent. It's just something I do You know, the kindness of strangers will never fail to amaze me. Even before I came here, where so many of you have comforted me, given me advice and the likes, I'd noticed that people I didn't even know were being so nice to me. Now perhaps some were just using me to get more friends, to throw pity parties or something like that (mostly on Facebook is where I've found this to happen) but others... Others genuinely care. It didn't happen as much on Facebook, but it still did. I met the most amazing people, and made friends literally left and right. Sadly most of them I no longer talk to, due to my inactivity of that site, but that's not really the point. It was brought to my attention what my Christmas lacked, and why it felt so... miserable. Hope. A staple of the human set of emotions. Now we all have certain emotions that are used most often, others that are hardly used and some that we have never felt. Hope is what keeps us going. It's the optimists bread and butter. And that's what I had ignored. I also had forgotten the giving spirit of the season. The one thing that makes this season so special. I had become so self absorbing in what was wrong, that I failed to see what was right. I had lost connection with someone who I have been talking to for months, someone who I seriously can't live without, and that made everything turn grey and awful. My grandfathers illness made it worse. Terrible grades and the end of term swinging in just finalized my depressing state and wiped any hope from my mind. I refused to give presents to those I didn't /have/ to give to. My friends got nothing from me, because I was so selfish. When I did, they were rushed and not well thought out, to be honest. I just didn't care. Now I look back on last week, and I feel so guilty. But also, I found my new years resolution. Even if my life gets hard, and I feel like I can't go on, cling to hope. Give freely of myself to others, make them smile, and help them no matter what's going on. Be a friend, a family member, and someone they can rely on. I wanted to take some time to thank you guys, even if I really don't know you, and vice versa. You took time out of your life to offer comfort to me, when you didn't have to. And thank you to that one person who has always been here for me, even when I was being downright awful. You know who you are. So yes, have my random, out of the blue post. Hooray ^w^ But one thing I plead with you all to never forget, is this. Have hope, and don't you ever, ever give up. Cheers, RRU, and have a Happy New Year. ~CB

    Lego Time Cruisers comics

Thanks once again for doing all of this, Dark_Turtle. It's disappointing that they resorted to stock art of the sets for the comics after 1997. Seeing as 1998 is the year photo-based comics started up for MANIA magazine, I would hazard a guess that the team making them must've moved to the other publication. A lot of the changes in World Club from 97 to 98 seem like they were made to condense it. I wonder if the budget was cut? It's too bad, in any case. Speaking of the Time Cruisers comic specifically, I'm a little surprised that the Time Twisters didn't make an appearance. They must've been restrained to the Jan/Feb issue of Klick, plus maybe the first two pages of the March/April comic, seeing as Klick probably wouldn't have done the whole exposition part in the equivalent issue of World Club when for them comic was already ongoing. The most recent issue doesn't disappoint. I had my money on the Flybo being abandoned, seeing as it was left in the land of a 1997 theme. I was assuming the Microzapper we've seen in the bits we have of later issues was going to replace it here, but I guess that comes later. It is sort of weird that Professor Cyber, who we last saw distraught over accidentally sending Tim somewhere in time and space, is suddenly sending out a search party not to save him, but to have him go help his brother. I'm wondering if there is maybe a piece of the story that we've missed out on from the earlier Klick issues, where Cyber and Tim meet up again and Tim intentionally decides to continue adventuring. It seems Tim's last name has just changed to Timebuster, unfortunately without explanation. All of these little background details on the Adventurers characters are excellent. Slyboots the retired prizefighter- it sure is a far cry from his role as the master planner in the US continuity. And Articus is Cyber's brother. Who would've thought? I could probably go on, but here's a comic for you. Page 1 Page 2 Page 3 Page 4

    Review: #4508 Titan XP

LEGO Make & Create Designer Set #4508 Titan XP Review by RobExplorien It has been quite a while since I last wrote review, or even thought of building up a LEGO set. Since then orange names started to appear in the review list who reviewed the newer LEGO sets, and I felt very discouraged by FlashySnakez's review, knowing that I'll have a hard time trying to improve on any of the aspects he covered. Nonetheless, here is a mighty set from my childhood. Back when I was that impulsive little being, also known as a 'kid', I had accumulated a fair amount of pocket money to spend on LEGO. So we went to the toy store, knowing that I finally had enough money to buy the bigger sets always displayed on the top shelf. I mean, I had 60 euros in my pocket which made me feel like a rich man, and I still would feel that way if I had it in my wallet now. I was sold when I saw the giant robot; there goes the money, here come the bricks. I was a poor man again? I didn't think that way at all, I only cared about the set I just bought. Background information The Titan XP was a Designer Set released in 2004. You could compare the Creator subtheme of today to Designer Sets from back then, both featuring the instructions for many models in just one set. It was sold at a retail price of $49.99/£34.99 (according to Brickipedia), and I believe I payed €49.99 for it in my local toy store . Box In front of me I have a giant box filled with the beautiful plastic LEGO bricks which will later on form this huge mech. It measures roughly 40cm/16inches on all sides and is 6.5cm/2.5inches in depth. On the box is a nice depiction of the Titan XP standing in a lightblue void with a stream of transparent LEGO bricks flowing behind his back. Perhaps the background design is a little dull, but atleast it matches with some of the bricks our mech is composed of. In the right corner you can see some of the functions of this robot, like the removeable 'jetpack' and the many joints the model is composed of. Moving on to the yellow area. In the upper left corner we have the trusted LEGO logo on it's reserved spot. Below the recommended ages which are 9 and up, followed by the set number and subtheme which the set belongs to. In the lower left corner a picture of the manual indicating the instructions for four models and images of 13 ideas (though I've only stumbled upon 12 ideas in the manual). Also, the box is a little pressed due to the set having been stored under other boxes, and there is a ripped price tag in the upper right corner which read €49.99. Here we have the sides of the box. Ofcourse the logo isn't missed out anywhere, or else that'd be a sin for the company it seems. The upside shows one of 4 models that come with instructions, with next to it a 1:1 scale sized sloped brick. Appearing on the left and right sides are the two little robots and again, the Titan XP, respectively. The text on the right side repeats the "4 instructions + 13 ideas". The grey sticker was probably put on by the store for cataloging. The downside is home to warning messages in more languages than there are bricks in the actual set, neighbouring the LEGO Company address and barcode. Reviewed five sides, one more to go. The back shows us the back of the Titan XP, ironically, hopping blithely in the void of blue. The other models take their place next to him. The ostrich-like mech seems to function as a fighter aircraft as well. Some of the broken seals can be seen below, along with the URL www.LEGO.com. Personally the yellow outlines do not really feel fitted with the lightblue. Contents I flip the top open and I am greeted by the sight of a large pile of various bricks, a delicacy to the creative mind. There are all sorts of bricks in there: sloped ones, gears, many joints, an antenna, rasters, the list just goes on. I have not even mentioned the great storage purpose this box offers. Sturdy sides and lots of space to rummage in that pile. No pouring all bricks on the table (especially with this amount), I can simply pick any brick from the box just like that, quickly setting up and clearing my building spot. The instructions don't even have to be folded to fit in the box, and the former isn't a little booklet at all. Anyway, the list the contents: 782 pieces Instructions (102 pages) This set has an incredible amount of bricks for just the price I bought it for. I payed about €0.06 for each brick in this set, which I find very cheap compared to other equal sized comparable sets. Instructions Let's see. I flip the first page and we get a nice table of contents for our models. Like you'd expect it starts with the smaller models, the two little bots, ending with the biggest model. The yellow 1x1 bricks in the corners point out the difficulty level of the build of each model (as described in the text below them). I think they'd better indicated the time you spend on building one of these models (each brick about half an hour), because there literally isn't anything hard about building one of these models with the instructions you receive. The other page gives us a better view of the 'minor' models without the Titan XP occupying half the page. By the end of the instructions for the two bots (and for subsequent models) a few pages displaying the aforementioned 'ideas' indicated by the stereotypical light bulb follow. I posted the builds of these ideas some months earlier in >these >topics. The images offer a good and detailed view of the ideas, which really aided building them. A fair amount of pages later you arrive at the start of the building instructions for the Titan XP, the model we came for in this set. The build is divided in two parts: legs and torso. The steps are nicely lined up to each other and each step is accompanied by a parts list necessary to complete the corresponding step. I am in favor of this method of instructions, especially for the big models, as they avoid the risk of forgetting to include a part in the model and not to discover you forgot this single piece in step 23 when you had already arrived at step 38. The last page, showing the complete inventory list of this set. This really helps out, not only because I prefer this rather than having to look the inventory up the web, but also for aiding me in building the ideas. I can quickly view which bricks I can use for this section or which I have to save up for that other part to build one of the alternate models. Well, on the right page we have the ability to submit our quick review of the set and possibly Win! a LEGO set. It's not really a win if you ask me, but I guess I was one of many unlucky submitters. In the corner are some of the contemporary sets pictured: Harry Potter, a NASA space shuttle (yeah!) and Clickits (meh...). Construction models 1 & 2 Let's just start at the small models, in fact they are the first you stumble upon in the instructions. The torsos of both are pictured below. A very simple but useful design which let's you add pieces on the front and back as well. A little while later when the limbs are built and attached you end up with these foolish hyperactive mech dwarfs. They do not really seem to be a treat, though they can be quite pesky and annoying. Plus, they have a perfect sense for balance. More of these models: Construction model 3 Next up is the ostrich-like model. You start off with the torso, which is composed of these upside-down sloped bricks, plates and these two blades probably functioning as a shield. The head uses a very simple construction by being just one brick wide (with the exception of the eyes). It can only move up and down, which I find surprising for a set that characterizes itself by the flexibility it grants to the models. From this point on you start working downwards to the feet. The legs, other than making good use of the joints, look a little dull (regarding colour). The feet look like they belong to a giant, measuring roughly 16cm/6.5inches long. Lots of plates are stacked here to form it. Similar to the tripod-shape of a bird's foot, this model takes this design to create a necessary stability for it. Lastly you have to mount the lasers on his shoulders. The result, a 22cm/9inches tall menacing mech able to crush a dozen minifigures with his foot. Overall a really neat-looking model, I especially fancy the use of the orange (seemingly glowing a bit) parts. More of this model: Construction model 4 And now for the model you came for. Construction starts in the middle, the lower torso. In the end the upper body will be connected to the lower body with just a single peg. But first you start building downwards, to the feet. The only annoyance in this is that you have to go through all steps twice, but mirrorred. That's just me whining. All bodyparts are very detailed, making good use of the available colours by creating a line pattern on the lower legs. So now the lower body is finished and you are already over 20cm/8inches up in the air. The torso is contrasted with black and orange, with the lighter blue arms around. The headpiece is rather small compared to the body, but with a giant antenna it comes down (up) to about 40cm/16inches in height. Finally the wingpieces are added and then just place the torso onto his middle. And it's finished, what a beauty. Truly one of the best official LEGO set mechs I've ever seen. There is just so much detail in this model (which I will cover in the next photographs). Overall a sturdy model with a rotatable top body and with the legs of pulverized minifigures as his hands. More of this model: Conclusion The Titan XP is personally one of my favorite sets. It just has so much to offer. It leaves you plenty of bricks for creating custom models or to customize the current models, thus making this set a perfect example of the core meaning of LEGO. Pros: Ergonomically approved box design. You can just leave the bricks in the box and pick them from there, instead of pouring it all over the table to get to them. Well explained instructions, lots of images and ideas. Wonderful piece to price ratio, paying (far) less than 10 cents per brick. Amazing mech designs, I love them. Flexibility and sturdiness combined due to the many joints and adjusted to model size contact surface. The black and orange make for a good contrast on colour. Cons: Background of box art is a bit dull, could use a more fitting theme. I'm just not very fond of the light blue tints here. Would be nice if some of the ideas had instructions. Rating Design: 9 / 10 Quality: 9 / 10 Fun: 9 / 10 Price: 10 / 10

See, this is why this forum is so excellent - we have an epic* admin (well, retired admin) to look up to. You should sit on a rocking chair and gather us all around a log fire, then talk through stories of old and teach us your wisdom. *That was a deliberate choice in words, not because I often use the word epic. The definition of epic in this case being: 'heroic...in character', according to the Oxford Dictionary.

    Oh hurrah for the holidays

Hey man that's really sad that he's going through all that. My grandfather had a heart attack in the bathroom and we were too late to find him. He was gone by the time the ambulance came. After that, my grandmother came down with dementia, and she started forgetting who everyone was. She started losing weight and getting old faster in a way that I hardly even recognized her. Then while I was helping my friend move a clock, I got a call from my father and he said that she was bleeding out and they couldn't stop it. They called an ambulance and got her to the hospital, but they lost her in the elevator. Sorry if this makes you feel worse. I was really close to both of my grandparents. It was hard for me when they passed. But for your concern, I'll be here for you and if you need to talk about anything, send me a PM. I will help you get through everything.

You almost make it sound like you have to select it every time, the last profile you selected is the last one you went on. I can't test the plugin now, but I can do so much later today. Whoops, apologies for that, although I'm sure the current members can all work that out. Also, to whoever is griefing the server: several players are getting very agitated about it, and it really needs to stop. Missing items (although these can and have been mistakes), in addition to placing and taking of random blocks, isn't acceptable on this server. It's meant to be a friendly place for the mature people of RRU to meet up, build, play and share their creations together*. I will be temporarily shutting down the server soon and installing an activity reporting plugin. This will monitor every single action that players take (without impacting server performance, there shouldn't be any lag), and allow players to report griefing. If caught, I may have to ban griefers, which I really don't want to do... So please, stop it now, and enjoy the server along with the others, mkay? *Furthermore, I know this isn't about me, but I do pay for this server out of my own money. Not nearly as much as Cyrem pays for this amazing forum, but it's still not fair that I'm paying for something that is being abused.

Also, you've got a pirate mech. What's not to like about a pirate mech? Does anyone still play this? (My LEGO Network)

I got up to rank 7. MLN shouldn't count as a social networking site. The only way you can communicate to others through it is by soulless preset messages. It's closer to a puzzle and teamwork game, where you gather resources through various ways from NPC users and secret NPC users. Like a social networking site, you have your own page, on which you can place modules. Modules can receive clicks from other players. Advanced modules you gain later on allow you to gain specific resources per day, and/or resources per clicks. Clicks are limited though, as each user only gets a specific number of clicks per day. Users have 20+8*rank clicks to spend each day, that accumulate evenly across the day. Rank is determined by the number of masterpieces you have made. Masterpieces are made from gaining a masterpiece blueprint, and gathering the resources the blueprint states. Each rank, from 0-9, has a masterpiece to go to the next rank, so there are ranks 0-10. Rank is the primarily a status symbol in MLN. Each rank has its own NPCs that will only friend you at that rank. By friending an NPC, you can trade with it on its page, or send it mail for hints or items. There are a wide variety of resources in MLN. The most basic are bricks. You start off with red bricks, but eventually have to deal with blue, yellow, green, purple, orange, black, white, grey, and clear bricks as you advanced in rank. You also have to gather an odd variety of items to complete blueprints for masterpieces, modules, or items. Items or resources are also required to click on specific advanced modules. Modules give you plenty of options of how to set up your page. Your page is a 3x4 area, and modules take up either a 1x1, 1x2, or 1x3 space. The main goal of MLN is to get each rank and masterpiece. You can also attempt to friend secret NPCs, or side plots that don't deal with rank, such as the Bionicle Plot. The higher you go, the more complex it gets, and the more teamwork you need. By rank 5 I needed to make a bot to continue, as I was forever alone. Also, I seem to have gotten carried away with this post. I would be interested in working with a team to get to rank 10.
