  1. What do you do when you have only two Classic Spacemen and Photoshop? >This, apparently. The kitchen in my house has a little light that looks a bit like a flying saucer...I thought it'd be fun to take a picture of two LEGO astronauts exploring the vast kitchen counter, and seeing the lamp from below. It didn't turn out quite as well as I liked, so I tried to spruce it up by creating a magazine-style LEGO ad. I'd like to do more in the same style, probably featuring Pirates since I actually have those sets, definitely using actual magazine dimensions. Thoughts? TC

Rokreder, you don't have to apologize; Extreme is the last person you could possibly offend Your concern was commendable and your intentions in the right place. Whether due to culture or simply personality you misunderstood. It's OK. Everyone does that from time to time. Just learn from it and continue contributing to this fantastic community.

Or they would, but they'd absolutely suck. As McJobless said, discussion like this separates good ideas from bad ones, and gets people thinking about even better ones. In the end, good, fun ideas remain, which will hopefully influence the game this is all supposedly discussing and improve it. This isn't a place where you should just throw out any idea and defend it tooth and nail because it's yours. This isn't a place where people picking apart your random ideas means they're personally attacking you (see above). This is a place where we try to figure out what might make a good game. Start thinking in terms of community collaboration and discussion instead of you/your ideas being special snowflakes, and you might get somewhere. As for the game, on Facebook:

At what? If you thought I was laughing at the suicide thing, you're highly mistaken and that would be completely out of character for me, knowning s*** that I do. I'm laughing at your ridiculous and over-the-top response to a conversation you're not involved in, with two people who clearly don't care. aidenpons and I both aren't taking this personally. If people take comments they read on the internet from random strangers they'll likely never meet personally, they should get right off the internet. You just contributed nothing to the subject, derailing it with a useless post. You've been here for maybe a few months at the most. I've been here for years. Even aidenpons knows more about the community than you do. Don't just assume that one instance of a situation occurs every single time. Things are treated differently here. I won't respect those who don't show respect and act like they're already top of the block. I have no clue what accusations you're making, were we're simply going back and forth over argument points. I'm giving my opinion on why those ideas are bad. If aidenpons or anybody can prove they're good ideas, they're welcome to, and then an even better comes forward. That's called a proper DISCUSSION. That's what forums are at the core. Everybody only being positive all the time would mean many of the things you take for granted wouldn't exist. ONTOPIC: I haven't seen any progress on this in a long time. I'm still unsure if I'd have interest in it at this point. Until I get a proper idea of what changes are likely to be pushed forward, I'm going to remain critical.

Creator's big custom AI racers collection

Ok, here's how this is gonna work: Whenever I finish a new AI racer reskin, I'm gonna add a new entry to this topic. This way, you'll be able to download characters you want seperately and I don't have to make a new thread every time I finish a character. I'm making these based on the theme list from JimbobJeffer's Theme Overhaul mod, but I may still be taking requests for custom AI racers. Just send me a PM or post a reply, telling me who you would like to see made into an AI opponent. How to get Rock Raiders running in Wine/CrossOver on Linux

Well it finally happened, I finally got LRR to run on Linux using Wine 1.7.11 and CrossOver 13.0.1. The two main problems seem to be d3drm.dll and playing the avi video files. Neither the inbuilt d3drm.dll or the native d3drm.dll would work however the d3drm.dll that came with my copy of LRR does work if put in the same directory as the game executable. I'm guessing it's a issue with newer versions of it that for some reason don't like Wine+LRR. A simple way around the video issue is to delete or rename the two avi intro videos located in the data/AVI folder. This also means that it won't run if you have the game disc in your drive as it tries to run the intro video from off the disc. Obviously this means that non of the videos will play. I haven't tested to see if the videos that you get in between the levels work but I would assume they don't. More testing is needed there. Another thing to note is that it only works in RGB Direct3D emulation mode however it runs much quicker compared to it running in a XP VM on my machine. (A Core 2 Duo E7400 at 3GHz.) One more thing to note is that there are a few graphical glitches mainly to do with the effects and lighting. Nothing major but noticeable. I'll see if I can't figure out whats going on there. To make sure your using the right version here's the md5 and sha1 of d3drm.dll. MD5: 7e4541c04a1678c656875596db13599d D3DRM.DLL SHA1: 77709ddd4963426c8c6755d160c31af35144faeb D3DRM.DLL

Managed to lower the tread housings by 1 plate height, the shape is nicer however it took a hit in stability. The dish behind the light is good, I'm keeping it. I had to redo the entire body practically to make the changes work, though.

And I take offence in that. I won't go into further detail, but it does not feel very great when someone tells you it would be best to kill himself and then logs off, leaving you as the only one knowing... Regardless of the chance it might be a joke, there is also the chance he might be speaking the truth. Enough of this, as this is a completely different discussion. All I am saying is that I would like to see a bit more respect and an end to the accusations, as well as not instantly gunning every new idea down by saying it is wrong.

Everyone relax please I sense a lot of negativity in this thread. I have been through something very similar with a different community. Starts out as a friendly discussion but soon the community is divided. Someone writes a long post on something, those who don't agree rip the post to pieces and write an even longer post back full of quotes and why OPs opinion is wrong, including a couple of insults. This post is again ripped apart by the guys supporting the idea.... and repeat. It went as far as death threats by PM and someone almost attempting suicide. Please don't let it get that far. Please.

I will call this 1.3, however it's sort of, well, kind of a prototype I guess? I don't want to commit to this design but I want to see what you guys think. Basically the biggest difference here is I made the front wider. i also took all that concentrated yellow at the front and dispersed it a bit as per suggestions.

Didn't seem like it. What. So MOVE THEM YOURSELF. I'm sure if they didn't have weaponry their AI would also make them move automatically if a monster got in range. Vehicles still operate as entirely different units. You can verify this with a one-way ticket to the CFG and the .ae files. Or you could not change anything, since the electric fence is pretty balanced as it is. Your main threat is never the monsters, they're just a temporary distraction. The biggest problems are erosion, air depletion (which requires power), landslides and trying to find the resources. Electric Fences are designed to stop Monsters from attacking the main base, so you can focus on completing the map objectives faster. Remember, this is a kids game. But how could you tell which ones can and which ones can't? You're completely nerfing their purpose. They are a DEFENSE WEAPON. This was confirmed by their introduction in the tutorials. I don't want to go walk my guys after some stupid rock monster breaking my electric fences, I just want the fence to deal with him so I can focus on killing everything else on the level and get my resources back in the fastest time possible. You're absolutely incorrect. The death animation was never made, so instead when they reach low health, they automatically move back to a slimy slug hole. You can confirm this yourself by going to the CFG and .ae. And where's this wall idea coming from? Yous aid it up there like it's a great idea, when all you've done is suggested a block which would stop Rock Raiders as well. Meaning, they can't access the base either. Fantastic. You've now made gameplay overly complex and not fun. Thank you for being a brilliant game designer. In future, I'll take all my design lessons from you, since you're clearly well ahead of me. Leave them alone, SINCE THERE IS NO PROBLEM. The Electric Fences work as was printed in the manual, and serve their purpose well. You're making a big fuss over things working as they should, and it's absolutely ridiculous. What? Earthquakes and dams, two things that don't exist in the game. I was wrong about the above. THIS is the worst idea I've ever heard. I could deal with the shop, but this is just ultimately ridiculous, even for LEGO. O.T. Yeah, and now your smug attitude has completely killed that. Good work.
