Something a little different...mock LEGO Space print ad from the 80s...

What do you do when you have only two Classic Spacemen and Photoshop? >This, apparently. The kitchen in my house has a little light that looks a bit like a flying saucer...I thought it'd be fun to take a picture of two LEGO astronauts exploring the vast kitchen counter, and seeing the lamp from below. It didn't turn out quite as well as I liked, so I tried to spruce it up by creating a magazine-style LEGO ad. I'd like to do more in the same style, probably featuring Pirates since I actually have those sets, definitely using actual magazine dimensions. Thoughts? TC2 points -
The LEGO Movie Sequel
PindaPixel reacted to lol username for a topic
The LEGO Movie's theatrical release is only days away, and early reviews have been quite positive from both film critics and LEGO fans lucky enough to attend early screenings. The projected success of the movie, combined with the directors saying they much more story material where it came from, leaves it as no surprise that a sequel is already in development, with Jared Stern writing a script. Oh, and don't forget that Ninjago movie coming sometime in the next few years, too! And probably video game tie-ins. Weeeeeeee. Sources: The Wrap1 point -

Tutorial: Make Your Own 360 Gallery

1) To paraphrase Fushigisaur, I don't know if it might work better, but it'd more much more cross-browser. As for why I defenestrated ( ) the idea, I have too many projects as it is, and I have to complete my work in order to see TLM on Friday. Maybe once I finish another small project I'll look into this. 2) Arrow key binding is rather easy using jQuery, and simply detecting a key is even easier. The image links don't have to be hardcoded. Simply use relative paths to them. That way, you can move the site to any host and the links work as long as the proper folder structure is present. 3) It seems there are a number of ways to preload images with jQuery, so aside from figuring out which works best/at all, that doesn't look too difficult. If the images are not too large it may be possible to not preload them. If one wanted, it most likely would be possible to display a loading indicator while the images loaded, then on $(document).ready(); fire a command to hide it and display the page contents. I noticed you changed background colors between the two pictures in step 4. Did the darker color look bad or something?1 point -

After I read this (yet another) excellent tutorial, the first thought in my mind was "How can I recreate this using HTML/CSS, XML, and JavaScript/jQuery?" But then I threw that idea out the windows ME. :P1 point -
The LEGO Movie Sequel
BerixMaster2010 reacted to Jimbob for a topic
Not sure whether the overall reaction here is positive or negative, but I'm certainly excited. As Rokreder said, if this movie is great (and by the sounds of things, it really is), I'm sure the sequel will be too. The only downside for me is that they're doing it so soon, I very much hope it's not going to become a churned-out thing like Marvel movies. I enjoy waiting a couple of years for a good film, rather than having them pumped out like a TT game. I give no less attention to your news posts that jamesster's, it just happens that in many cases I happen to have something to say about the news topics that jamesster has posted. It doesn't mean your posts are any less valued, though.1 point -

1) Yes! You can add an invisible monster to the ice biomes and use that as a dependency for the vehicle. You can name it something like "Snowy Conditions" so you will see that a requirement of the Snow Shredder is snow. 2) Theoretically yes but I haven't tried it. Adding a RubbleCoef and PowerPathCoef (or PathCoef?) should do the trick, but I would not be surprised if nothing happened. 3) Nope, you can add vehicles without too many limitations. There is almost certainly an upper limit but I doubt any of us will hit that. I can't do much with LXF files so I can do this by hand and even add treads in. Maybe this will give me some motivation to keep modding.1 point -

You know, that may be exactly what's missing from this picture...I tend to think LEGOs ought to be lit with warm, yellowish hues, but that's probably due to my obsession with Pirate ads like this one. I'll have to play around with it a bit more. I do! Adventurers is the only other theme besides Pirates that I've committed to collecting in its entirety, so as you can imagine, I actually have a lot of Johnny Thunders. I even took an >Adventurers inspired picture for a class back in college, but I wasn't completely happy with it. The original idea was to have Johnny, Indy, and Jake Raines from Pharaoh's Quest in the picture, but it was just too cluttered and Indy was hogging the spotlight with his iconic silhouette. Adventurers is a great choice for a future follow-up, since I have many of those sets too. The only question is whether to stay in the 80s or aim more at the 90s...I kind of like the idea of creating an alternate set of ads where LEGO continued making all the sets we know now, but never dropped the LEGOLAND banner and style... Excellent! As jamesster said, I'd never have thought of something like that, and you've executed it very nicely. I Look forward to what you come up with next. Do you have a Johnny Thunder minifigure by any chance?1 point -
