    The LEGO Movie Videogame Trailer

Oh goody. LEGO Star Wars jam-packed with an absurd amount of hand holding; constant guiding arrows, constant button prompts, and camera pans showing exactly what you need to do and where to go... Just one mindless task after the other. Oh, and some random minigames thrown in here and there. One massive, linear scripted sequence where the player must run around and mash buttons to progress. I'll pass.

    The LEGO Movie Discussion Topic

With the film premiering in US theaters tonight, I thought it would be a good idea to set up a place for us all to share our reactions and thoughts. That does mean, of course, that this thread is destined to contain SPOILERS, so you may want to stay clear until you've had a chance to see the film. My theater is showing it at 10:00 tonight. Not sure why/how they are doing it 2 hours before its release date, but I did a random search and found another theater across the country that is also showing it at 10. So I guess they know what they are doing. I hope you all enjoy watching the film as much as I do (or more, in the case I hate it or something)! I'm looking forward to discussing it.

Creator's big custom AI racers collection

Ok, here's how this is gonna work: Whenever I finish a new AI racer reskin, I'm gonna add a new entry to this topic. This way, you'll be able to download characters you want seperately and I don't have to make a new thread every time I finish a character. I'm making these based on the theme list from JimbobJeffer's Theme Overhaul mod, but I may still be taking requests for custom AI racers. Just send me a PM or post a reply, telling me who you would like to see made into an AI opponent. Power Plant

Actually I wanted to create a mobile power station where you can deposit crystals to bring them to the HQ later, but then my thoughts turned around to this: More pictures can be found here! The descriptions of the parts of the building are also found in the gallery.

    Fuel Station

Oh goodie, I get to critique someone else's model instead of the other way around this time Well first note: I, like many others, have built most of the LRR buildings in LDD and in doing so made note that a power path is roughly the size of a 16x16 baseplate. Now, looking at this model, it would appear to be suing the 12x24 block as a base, which would make it too big to fit on a single power path, but if you intend it to take up two (like the power station does) then that's fine. Second, since I'm on the topic of game integration, is that it has pumps on both sides. Not that this is a fault, just unusual. Most buildings can only be interacted with from one side. This is why most buildings have a space of empty power path next to them, since that space is the space through which you interact with the building and as such has to be left open. As it stands, you would need those empty paths on both sides of the building lest you face one of the pump towards a wall. Again, not a fault, just something to think about. The pumps themselves look really nice. Contrary to what jamesster says i think the teal slopes are really fitting. I'm a little concerned the the nozzels are attached via clips and have no hose leading to them, but eh. It works. The center fuel cell... thing, looks kind of odd to me. I understand why it's there, and it probably should be, but it could be cleaned up a bit. I dunno how, though. I do think it looks way to similar to the one on the Power Station, while not being exactly the same, which bothers me a bit. Since it's 3-by-3 instead of 2-by-2, as the PS cell is, I would suggest replacing the corners with something else. Maybe the round transparent pieces? Also, odd suggestion, but try putting a roof on it. IDK, I think it might work. One last note: This looks oddly similar to the "canteen" building that was removed from the game... Hm.

    The LEGO Movie Videogame Trailer

Somebody is uploading a walkthrough/playthrough, obviously I wouldn't advise watching it if you don't want the movie spoiled for you, or you feel as if a puppy is kicked every time a game designer plays Lord Business: http://www.youtube.com/user/metralhoso/videos

    The LEGO Movie Videogame Trailer

Okay then. I guess I'll just go dump my opinions then. Again, not looking forward to the load times. Loading in LCU was painful as it took a good 8-10 minutes to load the city, and you had to wait through it every time you started the game and every time you exited a level. The load at the beginning is the worst as it takes 3-5 minutes just to load the start screen, THEN another 8-10 to load the city after that. The music is quite annoying, at times. The graphics are decent, but when shown next to the far superior movie scenes they look very out of place. I don't necessarily like hand-holding, but I honestly don't mind it. Sometimes I really just don't want to think too hard, I just want to break things. On the flip side, i look forward to being able to explore the LEGO worlds at my leisure instead of just catching glimpses of them in the movie, and I'm excited about the potential of having characters from many different themes in the same game. And that is what I choose to focus on, and not the weaker aspects of the game. That's just my $0.02

Forums are for discussion of things and exchanging of opinions. I haven't seen any hate, cynicism, drama, or arguing here - just two chaps talking about a game.

Who has this attitude...? Did you read my post? It doesn't look the same; it's a degression. It's stuffed with even more hand holding and linearity than previous TT games, hence why I am disappointed. If you don't mind never having to think about what you're doing in a game, always doing what you're told when you're told to do it, then hey, maybe it's your cup of tea. Amusingly, playing this game directly reflects the life the citizens of Bricksburg live under President Business. Read my post please. Have fun following the instructions.

Where's the cynicism? Unless you're confusing it with disappointment.
