    LEGO Awesomeness

    Gary

I had a little spare money and went to my local LEGO store. Fushigisaur had >convinced me >enough to go buy some Mixels, so I bought all three black ones and two of the yellow ones (sorry, I don't know the names ). They had nine racks but chose to spread those five across them all, rather than stock the whole series. Anyway, after building the standard models, I was inspired by the awesomely crazy appearances and their lack of symmetry. So I broke 'em all apart and built... Gary. I had no plan at all when building this, other than the initial "He's gots to hav lots of teh eyez, leik EIGHT EYEZ WOOOAAAH". I just stuck one part together after another and improvised the whole thing, so there were few occasions when I had to take something apart to build it differently. Oh yeah, he farts electricity. He's pretty poseable, particularly his head. And his main two eyes spin around, while his jaw opens and closes. Little things like that to add life to it. Gary's the first MOC I've made in a long time (since before entering the 'Dark Ages') that I've actually been really proud of . I don't want to change him in any way. He's gonna sit on my desk 4everz and be my l'il buddy. Hence I got a little overexcited and wrote a whole essay about him that you probably skimmed through. EDIT: Ah, my 1,111th post! A nice way to remember this.

    Xiron's LR2 Modding Tutorial Series

Hello all. So some of you may have heard that a tutorial series was in the works. Yes, it has been. Although I've been stalling for the last two-three months, I've finally been picking it up again, so after many revisions, I'm deciding to release part one of my series. Let me know what you think! Here is the menu first for easy access to any tutorials though. Tutorial 1: Getting Started Tutorial 2: Textures Tutorial 2.5: Animated Textures Tutorial 3: Audio I have not forgotten or gotten too lazy to do the remaining tutorials, they are just too complex due to the lack of modding programs.

    RRU Minecraft Server

Well for one thing, I know you can't read rules which is a bad enough start as is. You see, the first post in the topic says: "In order to sign up to this server you must have at least 10 posts and have been a member for at least 4 months." And you clearly don't meet either of those requirements.

New version of ROCK RAIDERS - update

You keep DOUBLE posting and bumping with bad ideas. Stop it. Either edit your old post or keep quiet. Depends on how large you want to make these maps (hopefully not incredible to the point of stupidity). Map downloader *could* be cool...ish... Ehh. You're changing the entire game type, then. LegoRR had the advantage where each biome had its own tactics and rules, and you had to try your best to over the course of the game adapt to each one individually. If they're all shoved together, you lose that. Also, an active volcano would be a stupid thing to do because there's so many ways it can fail. Cool. I think you've been huffing too much Sims powder, mate. That adds levels of complexity FAR greater than the game requires. I don't like the last two sentences, but okay. That's because the game wasn't necessarily designed to be a flying game. Air units have their purpose, and it's not being the central unit. The f**** is a cliff location? And no, don't bring up the elevator again. Fine, but I believe you are still trying to add far too many big concepts to this game. I'm sorry, but what the actual f**** is this? This is probably your worst idea. Since when did a LEGO game feature realism?! Quick Update: NEVER. This is a bad, bad idea. I disagree with this as well. The idea of priorities is you're assigning the priority of autonomous decisions when you're micro-managing another thing off in the distance and they run out of work. It's not meant to be a complex planner of all actions.

Spaceship moc build out of legos

It looks pretty nice, even though it hasn't got many bricks. I would have made it less tall though and I would have put a black 2x4 slope brick as a simple cockpit. Oh, and here's a protip: Don't ever use the word... ughh... "Legos". I said it, I'm sorry RRU . The word "LEGO" is never plural and it's usually completely capitalized.

    Bad Translations

Original text: "This is so much more hilarious than that pesky internet thinker... This is so much better and one hundred percent not a waste of your time!" ...35 translations later, Bing gives us: "Stimulate and 100% discount." Ooh, a 100% discount? On what? Translations? Original text: "That last translation was one of the best I've seen and the best for a long time. It really made a great start to my day." ...35 translations later, Bing gives us: "The long version is better than most. It was a good article." Original text: "Mad Pain Points after being beat by Xiron at LANDSLIDES... *sad face*" ...35 translations later, Bing gives us: "Sherwin-Williams deranged crazy sick, because I fell in love with in one fell swoop." Xiron, I am not taking any responsibility for what happens after you see this. EDIT: Original text: "What... why and how... is this shout box empty with shouts from yesterday in it?" ...35 translations later, Bing gives us: "... Many years later. When a small chest and scream." Original text: "Stop giving me bad translations! Have you ever translated something correctly? I think not, you daft fool worse than the infamous chicken that crossed the road." ...35 translations later, Bing gives us: "A good translation, you need to get started? Means, not just the chicken." Indeed, I do need to get started.

    Lava Ant

I felt like rebuilding my Mixels into an ant. So I rebuilt my Mixels into an ant. I can't stress enough how great those sets are. I hope to get some better pictures at other angles but this thing is surprisingly unphotogenic

    Ninjago Movie Announced

Well, this is interesting. The trailer for The LEGO Movie was just revealed, and already LEGO has announced another one, this time based on Ninjago. The movie will be written by Dan and Kevin Hageman, who also write the hit TV show Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu (which airs on Cartoon Network) and have contributed to The LEGO Movie. Dan Lin and Roy Lee, producers of The LEGO Movie, will also be producers for Ninjago. Jill Wilfert, who oversees all LEGO movies, will be the executive producer, and Courtenay Valenti will oversee production for Warner Bros. No director has been decided on yet. Interestingly, while the movie has the same writers as the TV show, it will actually "feature a new take that diverges from the TV series", though no further details have been revealed yet. Lego Time Cruisers comics

Oh you silly, silly, people. When will you ever learn how to use a real translator? Page 1 Page 2 Page 3 Page 4 Seriously though, I ran the entire comic through Bad Translator on various settings, and that was the result. I have absolutely no idea how it came up with some of these things.

On the topic of Lego Battles

How can you not love a series of LEGO games that can involve classic space astronauts and 90s space androids and Exo-Force robots fighting pirates, ninja, and dwarfs on Mars? I've played both games, and yeah, they're pretty awesome. I've played through most of LEGO Battles (still have yet to finish the Imperials story arc), and I also played through the first act of the Ninja story in LEGO Battles: Ninjago. I love the LEGO Battles games mostly for the sheer awesomeness of the concept: An RTS game involving tons of LEGO characters and themes, from the 70s to present day, duking it out in a bunch of different environments. Another thing I love is that the series is chock-full of classic LEGO stuff - Islanders, including King Kahuka? Classic Ninja? Governor Broadside from the 80s/90s Pirates theme? 90s Space androids working alongside Mars Mission astronauts? Forestmen/Dark Forest? Imperial Armada? Western? CLASSIC SPACE? YES. And while LEGO Battles: Ninjago doesn't quite have the roster of classic themes as the first game, it did sure pack in a ton of non-Ninjago stuff, like Atlantis, Power Miners, Agents, Collectible Minifigures, the main heroes and villains from the first game... Oh yeah, and it still had classic space. YES. And while the games were published by TT, they were developed by Hellbent Games, and aside from a couple concepts for collectibles being carried over from TT's licensed titles, the games are pretty unique compared to the other modern LEGO games. That combined with the mish-mashing of various LEGO themes, plus appearances of several classic characters, really makes the series feel like something out of the pre-TT days of LEGO games. And despite using the same engine, LEGO Battles: Ninjago introduced a lot of new stuff that made the gameplay quite different from the original game, almost feeling like an RPG-RTS hybrid at points. I really only have two big gripes with the series: 1, why the heck is it DS exclusive? The games would be a hundred times better on PC. 2, the pathfinding AI is terrible, at least in the first game. The Rock Raiders units had rather stupid AI, but at least they could move across the map without trouble. Oh, and the music. Even though the composer seems to be quite copyright-obsessed as far as YouTube uploads of it go, and the DS doesn't have amazing sound quality, there's some really good music throughout the series. Some other odds and ends as long as we're discussing this series... A LEGO Battles artist put some pretty darn awesome stuff on dA: http://emosktr.deviantart.com/art/Lego-Castle-125964452 http://emosktr.deviantart.com/art/Lego-Pirate-Painting-125964358 http://emosktr.deviantart.com/art/Lego-Space-Painting-125964194 Also, a while back I ripped apart the ROM for LEGO Battles (mainly to get at the original music files, which I successfully converted to a usable format thanks to some tools found on the 'net), and along the way I noticed there seems to be an unused test map in the game. I haven't tried it yet, but I imagine playing it could be as simple as swapping it around with a level normally playable in the game, then packing up the ROM again, loading it into an emulator, and loading the level you swapped it with.

    The Return of Ninjago

This is pretty much along the definition I was using, though maybe a little earlier. In no way does that mean later times were worse, it's just a comparison. I think is started to go down hill when they started using those taller minifigs that had more human features and didn't come apart. This means nothing to me due to my experience with people saying a game is good just because the graphics look amazing and the games I play are less good because they sometimes have sub-par graphics. You should play Minecraft. The gameplay is far better than the graphics. I don't get what people like about it. It was basically trying to cram in everything it could (ninjas and pirates and zombies and robots and mechs and snakes and aaaaa) You forget that they split that over two seasons and about three to five arcs. They did fine with the amount of content they put in.

    The Return of Ninjago

True, but you have to admit that it helps a bit. I mean, do you really want to watch a poorly animated LEGO cartoon? I think the story was awesome (IAs I've already said in my last post). LEGO went all out with Ninjago. A TV show, online games, YT, iOS games, advertising, LEGO Universe, LEGO made a big leap toward the new generation with mass amounts of digital content. Heh, Ninjago is the #2 show on CN (It was #1 when it was still new). To pull Ninjago now would be a major mistake for LEGO in multiple ways. And an epic soundtrack doesn't hurt either. :P

    The Return of Ninjago

He was saying the 90s were NOT a golden age. Often cruddy set design, small themes, juniorized bulky pieces... Now don't get me wrong, I like some 90s stuff (the 90s gave birth to wonderful things like Johnny Thunder), but you can't deny that most of sets had a lot of downfalls.
