The Great Kanohi Project
Guurahk204 and one other reacted to Prototyke for a topic
I am back far too long later with a mask I have been saying I'll make since the start and haven't yet. It was because of the demonic forces of mega-bloks, mechs, Brocks, goats, umbras, toadstools, mega-bloks, disproportionate eternally-youthful Japanese cartoon characters, bots, dumpsters, dumpster divers, and the mega-bloks in the dumpster-dove dumpster. (Try saying that three times fast.) I present the mask, not of timeliness, but of Light. Avohkii2 points -
Dol Guldur Front Gate (and the Witch-King of Angmar)
Seaborgium and one other reacted to aidenpons for a topic
I made Dol Guldur's front gate, complete with bridge, gargoyles, and bats. (If you want dramatic stuff I've shoved it down to the end) (You can't see the gargoyles in this picture) (nor in that one) (The sand brown stuff is my generic baseplate*) This is a close-up of the gate. I thought I did well to not make it look bland. I had to reinforce that gate SO HARD. As you can see, I had to resort to Technic. While I was there, I thought that I could hang some bats up there A dramatic view looking out of the gate... ok, I'd said I'd leave the dramatic stuff 'till the end. You can actually see the gargoyles. They're a little like this: Doing the bridge was fairly easy, with a MASSIVE amount of 6x12 plates (there's 8 on the bridge alone, plus two for the doors) and then six 14x1x1s with holes in them, which I then attached studded plates to by putting one stud in each hole, and for the part between bricks that had no hole I put 1x4 plates with the assistance of these bricks, hence the occasional light grey filled-up hole. However, the width of 12 studs gave me a problem. The gate was also 12 studs wide, and having the parapet end where the gate swung out to didn't look... right. Eventually, I decided to make the bridge widen at that point, conveniently offering me to put something decorative (in this case, burnt-out torches) in front of the gates. For the last bit of the parapet, I used a normal 1x10x1 brick without holes in it. While I'm on a structural (but not dramatic ) rant, the bridge holds together veeeerry nicely thanks to this: You'll see it's very fluffly (different to fluffy, semi-like mucked around but not so heavily, pronounced fluff-lee) by the gate - that's because the aforementioned widened parapet didn't exist when I made the bridge. The gate occasionally comes off from its floor, but that's not too common and one goes without the other, meaning it's easy to fix. If you take a look at the hinge design and back of the gate (which I didn't take a picture of, clever me ) you'll see the hinge isn't attached firmly. (You can sort of see the hinge design on the close-up of the gate - it uses these two pieces. It has four of these such hinges, two for each door (did I really need to tell you that ), one at the top and the other at the bottom ( ). The bottom one comes off rarely, but the top one never comes off. Back onto the hinge design, it only has the top two studs on the gate - albeit firmly. I would have liked to make it stronger, but then it wouldn't shut properly due to the fact that it shuts perfectly at the moment and putting a brick up the top would hit against the roof. Oh, and here's a nice view of the entire thing: I also said that there was the Witch-King in here. Well, here he are! (Yes, I know that's horribly butchered grammar, but you'll see why as soon as you click on the spoiler... click on the spoiler... click on the spoiler... ok, I'd said I'd leave the drama. The one on the left is the Witch-King armed with a Lego-confirmed (you'll see what I mean by that) Morgul Blade and a morning star. The morning star is of my own design, consisting of a 1x1x1 with studs on all sides, except the bottom. Then I put teeth on it and a short chain on the bottom. The one on the right is the Witch-King as he appears in ghost form, either attacking Radagast (which I did take a photo of ) or stabbing Frodo (which I would take a photo of as soon as I can find a couple of 'missing' bricks which with to build Weathertop). He is holding a non-Lego-confirmed Morgul Blade that I thought looked a lot like a Morgul Blade. (It was in fact, NOT a Viking sword but Vladek's (in minifigure form) sword. The helmets are indeed from Vikings. A smiley to anyone who spots the difference. All right then, it's drama time! The ruined fortress of Dol Guldur stands towering into the mist, its braziers long extinct since the Witch-King of Angmar, a dreaded foe, took this fortress alone and scattering its residents. But any fortress has to have a gate before a tower, and this combines both (ok, it's a small tower ). The gates of old still hang from the hinges, anxiously waiting for the moment of their return when they will swing shut against any besiegers and sit proudly in the gateway. But the only person who has ever entered this fortress of late, excluding orcs, is Radagast. But he is not alone... ** As he looked around the abandoned courtyard, Radagast heard something click. More worried than usual, he looked up... And what he saw might be the last thing he saw. He strained to lift his staff upwards against the weight of the Witch-King, so bent on defeating him ***. This stalemate had to end somewhere. Sweat rolled down his forehead as he thought of his little rabbits on his sled. He muttered a curse and thrust upward, forcing the Witch-King to retreat at least a small - but necessary distance. As the Witch-King dropped his sword on the stony ground, echoing around the courtyard, Radagast decided there would never be a better time to leave. **** RANDOM NOTES: The skulls make it look more Dol Guldur-ish and not so much of Barar-dur (can't be bothered finding a circumflex ). The entire model is 54 studs long. This contains four animals - two bats and two T. reges. Originally I had the torches with a straight flame piece in them, but then I thought that it didn't suit a ruined fortress. The bridge is only this long because I thought this was long enough. It could easily be made longer. * Our family are very lucky to have a holiday batch, which paradoxically is only an hour's drive from home (It's NZ). There I keep nearly all my Lego (nearly meaning everything except Hobbit and LoTR stuff, and the early Bionicle). I made this at the batch, then took it home. The reason for the sand baseplate was that I don't have any at home. **The statue I nicked from Dol Guldur Battle, which [url='?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>>]I did a review on. I also nicked Radagast from that set. ***As I type, he's still in that position by the statue ****Actually, the longer he stayed there the better it would be for him to leave. P.S. No, not all my MOCs have a description this long. EDIT: Found that piece.2 points -

Its early and it a double post, but I'm going to be unable to access the internet until Tuesday, so deal with it. I haven't had time to prepare a mask, hopefully i'll post one mid-week next week, but in the meantime I have some Easter-y (as in commercialized Easter) recolors of my favorite masks. Enjoy They were all recolored into red, blue, yellow, and green only. Disclaimer: We are not responsible for any eye or mental damage caused by these masks. Any other damage caused by them shouldn't be able to happen anyway, so we are not responsible for it. Please enjoy the rest of your day.2 points -

Baz's Mod V1.5
Vintech reacted to Baz for a topic
Baz's Mod v1.5 (Released September 15, 2011) Short Description: This is a large scale overhaul modification for Rock Raiders (for PC) by me. This mod has been under development off and on since 2008, and it's taken a while to reach this point so I thank everyone for their patience on this. This is the newest and most likely final version of the mod. Two years ago I released v1.0 which was more or less a beta for the current version. I've worked out most of the kinks and all of the levels are in working, improved condition. (Download link at bottom of descriptions.) The point of this mod was to bring the game to its full potential, by improving the weaker aspects of the game and making it more challenging for older players (older than the original target audience of 8-12 that is). I've done this by tweaking many different aspects of gameplay, making adjustments to the vehicles, buildings, and rock raiders, and so on, as well as redesigning or expanding many of the existing levels. 8 new levels have been included in the place of the old tutorial levels, all of which have more challenging "bonus versions" in the bonus level menu with added monsters, slimy slugs, and also in a different terrain type than the original. This isn't intended to diverge from the canon of the game, and is meant to be more or less an unofficial update to the original game. Extended Description: The following can be found on the Baz's Mod page on the RRU Wiki: Gameplay Modification The Gameplay has been modified so that: Some Levels are rearranged on the mission-tree depending on how their difficulties have changed since the original game. All Levels include improved Objectives, mainly to increase the number of crystals players must collect to complete the mission. All forms of Mining Lasers can now be used to kill monsters. That goes for both vehicle mounted lasers and the Mining Laser Building. Weapons now do more damage to Slimy Slugs, while doing less to Monsters. Levels with Rock Monsters and/or Slimy Slugs have many more emerging or hidden throughout the level than they used to. Level Modification For a complete list of levels and their descriptions, see Baz's Mod Levels. The Pre-Existing Levels: All contain more Hidden Caverns, Energy Crystals, and other content Some contain new or changed layouts. The Eight New Levels: Contain unique and original layouts with plenty of caverns and crystals. Have alternate "Bonus Versions" that have been made more difficult and use a different Terrain than their normal counterparts. These can be accessed from the old tutorial menu which has been appropriately renamed in the main menu. Interface Modification The Game Interface has been changed to include: A slightly darker style and rusted texturing. Parts are a modified version of Drageon's Grunge Interface, and others are of my own creation. An improved in game Camera that can now zoom in closer and zoom out farther. Fixed Erosion textures for Ice Maps and higher resolution world textures overall. Unit Modification The Rock Raiders have been changed to: Be able to upgrade to an extra level that improves their drilling, shoveling, & running speeds, and also improves their ability to endure damage from rock slides and other hazards. Have fixed faces when viewing them in 1st person or shoulder view (to make them appear more like Sparks, as they appear in normal camera view) The Buildings have been changed so that: The Upgrade Station now has another upgrade level UP2, which allows it to perform upgrades four times as fast (twice as fast as UP1). The Mining Laser can now mine rock much more efficiently and do damage to Enemies (with the same stats as the Large Mobile Laser Cutter). The Super Teleport now has another upgrade level UP2, which it needs to upgrade to teleport down the Chrome Crusher and the Tunnel Transport. The Geological Center now has another upgrade level UP3, which will increase its scanning radius to 16 squares. The Tool Store can now upgrade Rock Raiders faster when fully upgraded The Ore Refinery can now be upgraded to UP4, which only takes one Ore to make a Building Stud Major changes have been made to improve the: Hover Scout Small Mobile Laser Cutter Large Mobile Laser Cutter Other Vehicle changes include, but are not limited to: Decreased Hard Rock drill times Enhanced and new vehicle upgrades The addition of the Tunnel Transport as a usable vehicle. Increased/decreased crystal requirements for the teleportation of some vehicles. For a complete list of specifications for the vehicles, see Baz's Mod Vehicles. Changes between versions 1.0 and 1.5 Many changes have been made and bugs have been fixed since the initial (beta) version of the Mod for the final official release. Bug Fix for Tunnel Transport so that it carries other Vehicles properly. Resolve the various inconsistencies with the Mining Lasers, particularly with the Large Mobile Laser Cutter. Bug Fix of Run the Gauntlet to make it completable and add a crystal count to objective. Bug Fix of Back to Basics to make it completable by adding more energy crystals scattered through level and a few recharge seams. Also added tons of Ice Monster emerges and Sleeping Ice Monsters to keep it challenging. Increase number of crystals required to make certain vehicles, particularly the Chrome Crusher and Tunnel Transport Rapid Rider now only requires 1 crystal to teleport. Fix typos and mixed up mission objectives for mission, success, and failure statements. Minor redesigning of Water Works to separate caverns and modification of heightmap. Addition of Monsters, depleting Oxygen Supply, etc. to Bonus Levels where they were not already present. Fairly large changes and fixes to Don't Panic!, adding areas & monster spawns, which are now Coordinated properly. Addition of Lava Monsters to Erode Works. Fixed spoken level names to correct levels (assigned new levels to the old tutorial spoken names). Small fixes to a few levels, where the level's open cavern extended to the border of the map, which caused random bugs such as turning ground into water and solid rock into ground. Moderate changes to Water Lot Of Fun, including working monster emerges. I've also made changes to the caverns so that it is much more difficult to reconnect cavern across water to base now. The height map is restored and improved. Minor changes to Lake of Fire to include Recharge Seams and sleeping Lava Monsters. Made it so the safe cavern is only accessible through the clever use of Mining Lasers. Increased crystal objective from 100 to 150 crystals. Added emerging Rock Monsters and Bats to Fire 'n' Water. Ice Monsters can now cross water. Bug fix of Hot Stuff to fix emerge file with correct spawns. Also added some more sleeping Lava Monsters and did some small changes to the caverns and heightmap. Addition of Bats and sleeping Ice Monsters to Air Raiders. Added Cyrem's improved Biome textures. Addition of more sleeping Monsters of all kinds in Rocky Horror, as well as tons more emerges. Caverns changed slightly to make the seam reservoirs harder to get to. Removed buggy crystal reservoir near the lake of lava (Lava Monsters sleeping there now). Crystal objective fixed to the correct number (was 349, now 350 as it's supposed to be). A Note about Bugs & Stability While I have gone through a lot of work to fix any problems with the mod and the levels themselves, the engine itself is not only dated, but is unstable even on those standards. I have been able to complete every level without crashing, however I did encounter a few (not many) crashes along the way. They occurred mainly when I was either teleporting something down, shooting something with a mining laser, or opening a cavern, particularly one with sleeping monsters in it. While all the levels should work fine, if you encounter a crash one or multiple times, I'd try to avoid doing whatever it is you were doing before the crash, whether it be teleporting down way too many rock raiders or buildings or trying to upgrade a certain building, or what have you. Rocky Horror in particular, because of the multitude of monsters and slugs, is very sensitive and will probably crash if you teleport down a full 2-3 support stations worth of rock raiders. This being said, the most stable running mode is 16-bit Windowed, and I'd recommend playing in that if you are having any problems with crashing. > Download Link <- 37.2 MB Download, 89.3 MB once installed (via Installer) Enjoy! The mod replaces Rocket Racer's body/face textures with modified versions of his textures from LEGO Racers 1, and replaces his head/helmet model with an altered version that uses two new textures and a new skybox (for his solid black visor). Can also replace player character models/textures if you rename the files (see the Veronica Voltage mod for example). Download Original post:1 point -

If you can successfully copy all the file on the CD to a folder on your hard drive, you should be able to burn them to a recordable CD or make an ISO from it and mount it, then install.1 point -

Well, its more like the disk is mutilated with scratches, I wasnt the best at keeping them in the case back then. Sucks, I already bought the game twice. I cant find my 2007 disk. There's actually a known issue with installing the game on computers with specific amounts of RAM. If you haven't tried the comatibility settings yet, you shoud. You could also try copying all the files from the CD to see if you can read the CD or not.1 point -

Very nice! I have two criticisms, but I hope they are constructive. Firstly the beat is a bit distracting. I really like how you blend different styles of music, but the beat needs to be more subtle. Secondly: it ends rather abruptly. I was enjoying it, and then suddenly it's gone. But wow, in one hour? Gosh, that's good. You really ought to consider trying to get a job making music for game developers. I am not exaggerating, you really should.1 point -

Hello, I just want to say, I made an account just to post on this. I think the original RR was far better looking than the one in LR2. Even as a 6 year old kid, I though "He looks so un-detailed" and "WHY CANT I PLAY AS ROCKET RACER AT ALL?" You should have seen my face when I couldn't play as him or have his car after beating him. As of right now, of course im older but sometimes I get the urge to play by childhood games. However my Disk wont install past 7% If however a texture for the original Rocket Racer's car comes out, I will most likely re-buy the game off eBay or something. Rocket Racer has always been my favorite minifigure, even if no official one came out, I Used to make my own drawings of his clothes and paste them on my own minifigures. Thanks for posting this texture!1 point -

Update time! I've finally built all the circuit 3/6 cars, and am pretty excited Just six racers left to go. Check out pictures of the individual racers in the spoiler below. Complete with TNT mounted on the back. Unfortunately the back side-dot bricks which hold the TNT aren't available in old dark grey. Black Jack Hawkins The red and blue colours work nicely, I think. Plus he has a cool parrot. Willa the Witch Another generic black car is used here, but oh well. Willa's black skirt was swapped for the legs she has in-game. I love her toothless smile Alpha Dragonis Alpha Dragonis' decals are so epic. To tell the truth, I didn't know his head was trans-orange until I bought the figure... Basil the Batlord Haw haw haw... Basil's such a legend. He and his car... so mean-looking. Gypsy Moth I'd say this is the biggest car of the lot. Rocket Racer and Veronica Voltage aside, Gypsy Moth is definitely the don. I took a couple of group shots too. Oh, last thing... I hope the photos are an improvement on recent ones, I got a new 'studio'1 point -

So, the Rocket Racer helmet from his normal LR2 appearance is wonky - the decals are not one, but two separate textures, and the main body of the helmet is actually the basic white texture, but the model sets the material to be darker, more of a light grey. I toyed around with it for a while, but wasn't able to get it to look quite right. So I got rid of the original Rocket Racer helmet model, took the model for the white helmet for player characters, put it in the place of the Rocket Racer helmet (the UV map for that helmet doesn't allow for decals either, though, so that's still out), opened it up in a hex editor, and edited the file paths to make it use different textures. Then I found that the visor material needs to be given a skybox to reflect, so I had to make a new solid black skybox to get the proper effect... Phew. I'm done for the night. Only step left is to add the other facial expressions. Then I'll put the whole lot up for download. It replaces the original textures for Rocket Racer's legs, torso, and head, replaces his head/helmet model, and adds several new files (the textures for his helmet, visor, and the skybox the visor material reflects). None of the existing minifigure pieces are replaced or modified besides Rocket's, so you won't have to worry about it messing up any NPCs or your avatar.1 point -
