JamesBrick's Introduction 2014!
MaelstromIslander and 5 others reacted to Arthuriel for a topic
And thou the fourth age of middle earth began an era ended. One of the many occurrences during this wonderous age was the sudden appearance of the ruler JamesBrick, who founded several HQs cities dedicated to the development of very specific industries to improve the nation's economy. Sadly he disappeared after a devastating event, which the historians called the "Big Crap of spring 2014". Some theories say, that the king had some anger issues, which lead in combination with numerous revolts due to his revolutionary policies to the end of his short reign. Other theories are based on the notion, that the sewage system of the kingdom was disfunctional due to low maintenance. Nonetheless the citizens of this land remembered their beloved and glorious leader and raised him to the status of a god. Therefore they built several temples in his name, which tourists can visit for a nominal fee to the present day. P.S.: Sorry for that. It was just too tempting.6 points -

LEGO1.DLL Documentation
Quisoves Potoo and 2 others reacted to Noneatme for a topic
Sorry for the double post, but I've got some updates, Some guy I know helped me reversing the lego1.dll, and we finally got something reversed. The .SI files will be parsed in this functions: (The green ones are decompiled) Lego Island / Mindscape uses his own engine, all engine functions have the "Mx"-keyword in their name. (MxFile, MxOmni(Sounds)) It seems that the game reads the first 12 bytes of the .SI file in order to get the .SI file version. (It must be 2.2, otherwise the game will exit) The problem is that it doesn't make sense at all because there is no number in any .si file, so we think theres an archive format located between the files. (RIFF) We managed to decompile some functions, but we are still working on it.3 points -

Hot Wheels Mechanix Modding/Open Media Toolkit Utilities
Yajmo reacted to lol username for a topic
I know some other people here have/had this game, and we're a modding community, and it looks like modding this thing would be significantly easier than other games we talk about here - we wouldn't be starting from scratch. I don't have the time tonight to explain everything on my own, but check this stuff out: A presumably later version of game's engine/framework/toolkit on Sourceforge (it went open source): http://sourceforge.net/projects/openmediatoolkt/ And a project by other people involving another game built on the Open Media Toolkit, with documentation and downloads for various programs that can manipulate the toolkit's various formats: https://pacer.ischool.utexas.edu/bitstream/2081/20153/1/Redbeard_Project_Report_20090506.doc (.doc download with lots of goodies) https://pacer.ischool.utexas.edu/handle/2081/10679 https://pacer.ischool.utexas.edu/handle/2081/11700 https://pacer.ischool.utexas.edu/handle/2081/11003 (readme for the tool download) (from the doc) I've been playing around with the various utilities tonight, but haven't really gotten anywhere on this time bomb of a Windows 8 laptop. As these things were compiled for Windows 98, and on top of that they seem to be quite clumsy to use even if you can get them running. I would be interested in seeing new, modernized tools for working with Open Media Toolkit formats, but I'm not the guy to create them. Anybody else here interested in taking a stab at a project like this?1 point -
◄[LR2] Voiced Scripts►
bradleybrand reacted to Fluffy Cupcake for a topic
That's right peeps, a mod for LR2 that makes NPCs talk without the need of subtitles to understand! A test I did just to see how it would work out can be found here. People working on this mod: (ordered by when members joined project) Xiron JimbobJeffers le717 Rioforce (le's bro) Quisoves Pugnat (QP) McJobless Ben24x7 ShadowBlaze Oboe Shoes (OS) Ayliffe kajeuter Nintaga (Xiron's Sister)* Captain Kiwi (Nintaga's Friend)* Chonsy* Asterix means the person is from outside RRU. Anyone can join, so long as the following guidelines are followed. Guidelines: Recording should be in 44100 Hertz or higher (remember, just because you can record in that hertz, doesn't mean the sound quality is equivalent to it). Recording should be no less than 192 Kbps Preferred file format: .wav; Secondary preferred is .mp3. You can voice as many characters as you like. You have two weeks to voice the character after you pick it. If you need an extenion let me know with reason why. I'm not going to stop you from picking a character someone else already claimed, in the case two or more people want to do the same character, they will have to compete by uploading a voice clip of the character, with a line said from the game (I'll pick if multiple), and the community can choose who's voice they like better for the character. Please think responsibly and know if you would have a proper voice for the character before going: OHMAGAWSH I WANT TO VOICE DAT CHARACTER!!! List of Characters + Actors (yes, I pulled this from >my post in the Racers wiki topic. ) Questions and Answers: Q. What is XXX? And how do I deal with XXX when voicing the line? A. Be creative. XXX is where the player name use to be. Do your best to make sound great, and ask here for suggestions if you need any. Q. How will you deal with player references? A. We will use gender-neutral surnames instead of the name you choose for your character. Example, Sparky may call the player (XXX) buddy, and challengers may call the player newbie, and other higher rank as the game progresses, just to name a few. There are a lot more things that can be said than just these. Please avoid using "player", if you can. Q. Do I need to own the game to help? A. Nope! I can provide the lines you need to say. Just use the images linked with the character so you know what the character you are acting for looks like. Q. Can we expand or improve the lines if they are too shallow? A. In short, yes. You will have to use part of the original line though, and the majority will need to approve of the change. Note: You also have to keep within the game's targeted audience, so don't use any words you wouldn't hear them put in the game. Q. When will this be released? A. When we are done. There might be alpha & beta releases as the mod progresses on though. Q. Can you keep me updated of progress? A. Sorta. We have a completion list doc right here! https://docs.google.com/document/d/1PZpHzQHTX33U31ePO4I18n-P5jxid7J-ZCTS_MshzX4/1 point -
le717 Reads "lego island: the warm day"
Ayliffe reacted to le717 for a topic
Recorded December 3, 2013 in a Skype call (which I don't join often) in another (read: not RRU) group I'm was formerly in known as the LUR. For some idea, I started reading the truly awful LEGO Island fanfic "lego island: the warm day". I had to stop as my parents came home, so chapter 5 (the last chapter) is not present. I am considering rerecording this some day (maybe soon). This has been sitting on my hard drive in the raw Audacity project since I recorded it, and tonight I had the notion to edit and publish it. Pardon the quality. I never need to use my laptop's built in mic ever again. LEGO1.DLL Documentation

I did some experimenting with LEGO1.DLL recently, and here's the results. Only the swaps that did work are listed. Objects that can be used as hats: Buildings, which can be hats, (and plants!) : Head textures: Chest textures: Body colors: Hats: Some interesting things I found while viewing LEGO1.DLL in a program called DLL Export Viewer (not listing all of them, because some I'm uncertain about what they are) : class LegoEntity * __cdecl PickEntity(long,long) 0x1003ddc0 0x0003ddc0 84 (0x54) class LegoSoundManager * __cdecl SoundManager(void) 0x10015710 0x00015710 112 (0x70) class LegoVideoManager * __cdecl VideoManager(void) 0x10015720 0x00015720 123 (0x7b) class MxBackgroundAudioManager * __cdecl BackgroundAudioManager(void) 0x10015730 0x00015730 34 (0x22) class MxDSObject * __cdecl CreateStreamObject(class MxDSFile *,short) 0x100c0280 0x000c0280 40 (0x28) class MxEventManager * __cdecl EventManager(void) 0x100acf40 0x000acf40 50 (0x32) class MxMusicManager * __cdecl MusicManager(void) 0x100acf30 0x000acf30 77 (0x4d) class MxNotificationManager * __cdecl NotificationManager(void) 0x100aceb0 0x000aceb0 78 (0x4e) class MxTransitionManager * __cdecl TransitionManager(void) 0x10015900 0x00015900 120 (0x78) public: __thiscall LegoWorld::LegoWorld(void) 0x1001ca40 0x0001ca40 3 (0x3) public: __thiscall MxDSAction::MxDSAction(void) 0x100ad810 0x000ad810 8 (0x8) public: __thiscall MxDSFile::MxDSFile(char const *,unsigned long) 0x100cc4b0 0x000cc4b0 9 (0x9) public: static void __cdecl LegoAnimationManager::configureLegoAnimationManager(int) 0x1005eb50 0x0005eb50 124 (0x7c) public: static void __cdecl LegoBuildingManager::configureLegoBuildingManager(int) 0x1002f8b0 0x0002f8b0 125 (0x7d) public: static void __cdecl LegoModelPresenter::configureLegoModelPresenter(int) 0x1007f660 0x0007f660 126 (0x7e) public: static void __cdecl MxOmni::DestroyInstance(void) 0x100b0690 0x000b0690 41 (0x29) public: virtual __thiscall MxDSAction::~MxDSAction(void) 0x100ada80 0x000ada80 25 (0x19) public: virtual __thiscall MxDSFile::~MxDSFile(void) 0x100bfed0 0x000bfed0 public: void __thiscall MxDSObject::SetObjectName(char const *) 0x100bf8e0 public: void __thiscall MxTransitionManager::SetWaitIndicator(class MxVideoPresenter *) 0x1004c470 0x0004c470 111 (0x6f) Some of it seems obvious, such as the Sound and Video Managers. The MXTrasitionManager seems to be what controls the transitions that occur when entering/exiting a vehicle or building. I'm not quite sure about the MXDS file(s) it mentions.1 point -

The Totally-Not-Eris figure looks like a LEGO Friends mini-doll, Chima character, and anime character rolled into one hunk of plastic. Also, the wheels on the model on the back of the Italian Wannabe's box are pointing in two different directions. I'd love to see how that would work.1 point -

Popcorn Arcade was a budget Wii range. This is for PC (AFAIK) and they have been motivated to do this because of the fans of LRR and the fact that they are trying to work with us to create a game we all like is quite simply the best thing I've heard a developer do. I'd also like to add that because it's their own title, they aren't being pressured by deadlines and they can decided what happens with the game instead of them.1 point -
