A Complete Mess.
aidenpons and 6 others reacted to McJobless for a blog entry
Human life is obsessed with patterns We strive to learn patterns so we never have to relearn them again Games are about patterns Good games teach how to solve patterns, not just give answers to patterns Games therefore are teaching devices [can be described as art] Games therefore should be about things important to humanity We need to get over conflict, fighting etc, as it costs us resources including lives, money, food, etc Therefore, shooters are a waste Humans unfortunately still enjoy cheap thrills (WHY?) Furthermore, people enjoy nostalgia (HOW?) Many other art forms have high quality art [like Game of Thrones] and low quality art [like South Park] Movies started off for years as minor experiments and sketches How come people still haven't recognised the trends between movies and games? Games need to be personal Personal self is quite chaotic atm 7 billion people in the world 1/7,000,000,000 chance of having an original idea and implementing it before somebody else does Most games now are just clones of other games with little variation Means that we're on the verge of some massive changes Skill level nowhere near high enough for industry standard Chance of successfully building popular games: 0% Therefore, new goal required Chance of modifying current education system: 0% Chance of mocking people in charge of the current education system to the point change is considered: 0.01% Still sounding ridiculously crazy As crazy as those feminastys? Gotta prove education > just yelling about social justice on Tumblr/Twitter Gotta makes educational games that don't look/feel educational that can become popular to satisfy ego To do that gotta obtain necessary skills Unfortunately, reached "peak efficiency" Brain at point where it's putting minimal effort into everything == not having to do work, therefore meaning it's "successfully" living life Need to disrupt this somehow Mind way too distracted What is beauty? Holy hell, clouds are 3D...I can actually see their dimension... A short snippet of a train of thought (about 30 seconds - 1 minute) I had about a week ago. Now I'm trying to record these in full so I can turn them into a giant mindmap of all the crazy stuff that goes on in my mind.7 points -

Sandwich marketing: Be proactive
Lind Whisperer and 2 others reacted to le717 for a blog entry
Imagine if you will that someone has stolen your sandwich. How would you like to have prevented it? In the first scenario, Chief notices some suspicious behavior from a fellow Rock Raider and teleports you safely aboard the L.M.S Explorer and asks to watch out for this Rock Raider. The crime is suspected early on and never occurs. In the second scenario, you only become aware of the stolen sandwich several minutes later when you open your sandwich bag. You drop whatever you were doing and stubbornly insist on being fed a replacement sandwich. Most likely, you would prefer the pressent scenario over the second one. That's because in the preventive, Chief reacted proactively to prevent the crime. In the second, your response was reactive. This example highlights an important truth about Sandwich marketing: hungry Rock Raiders prefer a proactive marketing. Why Rock Raiders like proactive marketing According to the field of plastic psychology, everyone has a need to eat sandwiches. The reason most of us would prefer the first scenario above is that Chief made us feel like a valued and important Rock Raider. When a boss, or any other individual for that matter, handles a situation proactively instead of reactively, it makes our job easier. Rather than pitching a stubborn fit when there's been a food emergency, they reach out and feed us sometimes before we realize we might go hungry. It's much easier to trust an old man who's been your boss for 14+ years when they take the proactive approach. Why Chief likes proactive marketing Rock Raiders aren't the only ones who appreciate proactive marketing strategies. Chief likes them too. For one, they reap the benefits of having not as incompetent Rock Raiders as a result of his proactive approach. But even more importantly, a proactive approach gives Chief the ability to take charge of a situation. When a monster emerges, a proactive approach involves activating Action Stations and using laser guns. A reactive approach involves waiting around for the monster to destroy the entire mining operation or for the Rock Raiders themselves to do enough jumping jacks to scare it away. A proactive approach gives Chief some control over the mining operation, a reactive approach does the opposite. The key to proactive Sandwich marketing When it comes to Sandwich marketing, there are a number of ways to be proactive. It's not a strategy limited to Chief and black holes. The goal is to use sandwiches to handle problems and make Rock Raiders' stomachs fuller. To maximize the effectiveness of Sandwich marketing, businesses need to think about how sandwiches can be used to benefit Rock Raiders. Don't make it all about Slimy Slugs and landslides occurring. Make it about never-go-hungry employees and the meager progress will come. Sandwich marketing: Be proactive
aidenpons and 2 others reacted to Arthuriel for a blog entry
@le717: Great parody, le717. I also have a proposal, how to solve the go-hungry-problem: Making Rock Raiders out of sandwiches. Why? Well, they only eat food, because they need it, but if they were food themselves, they wouldn't eat themselves (yay, the day, where Arthuriel killed logic). Hmm, wait. I think, that the result would be devastating, because they would eat each other or themselves. I guess, that I invented a new Insane Raiders plot right now. P.S.: Woa, stupid Plot twist: Rock Raiders are actually made out of old pizza bricks and because sandwiches are the natural enemies of pizzas, the Rock Raiders eat a ton of sandwiches to wipe them out (in which they would never succeed (?), but I haven't claimed, that Rock Raiders are smart). @aidenpons: I thought, that there are only two parodies of spambots here. P.S.: Because it's funny^^3 points -
Bananaman Movie in 2015.
Ayliffe and 2 others reacted to Quisoves Potoo for a topic
On one hand, a live-action film based on an obscure and absurd 1980's cartoon could be quite amusing, given a healthy dose of under-graduate humor. On the other hand, given that this is a feature film, I suspect, alas, that the humor will be of a broader and a blunter sort.3 points -

True, it could be this. Maybe, but it looks like Frankenfish is a modern day B-Movie. Stupid, but at least some one was entertained, if nothing else by the stupidity. Apparently it 3 million to make. Failed box office adaptions of cartoons such as Underdog and Rocky and Bullwinkle have cost 60-76 million. Remember that really good and successful adaption of a cartoon a while back? Nope, me neither. With cartoon adaptions, producers aren't just make stupid films, they're throwing money down the toilet.2 points -

Hi! I'm mostly into Drum 'n' Bass, although I'm not much of a producer yet. I'm still practising. Do you like Comic Sans? It's a nice font-family, that works out quite well on occasions. But, personally, I'll use the new Comic Neue when I'm in need for a "casual" typeface. And thank you for the warm welcome, everyone. And for the irony and the rabid weasels, of course. Hola, welkomen, and salve! Given your username, I take it that you are fond of oxymorons. You should, then, appreciate the irony of a site devoted to, among other things, modding being named after a notoriously uncreative and drone-like kind of worker (in video game form, at least.) Anyway, enjoy your stay here. Just remember to be vigilant in spotting false Thunders and to never be afraid to plumb the depths of madness. I look forward to seeing you around.1 point -

BZPower Plays Rock Raiders

So, BZPower has decided to go back and play an old classic LEGO game, and three guesses as to which one. "Raiders of The Lost Rock" will update twice a week with some pretty funny commentary. Rhyming Game
Quisoves Potoo reacted to Seaborgium for a topic
I am sensing a battle of an epic scale, where mad rhymes are swingin' like a battle flail, so I hope I don't have to wear no battle mail, because this rhyme war is as big as a whale. THIS IS AN EDIT AN ADDITION PERHAPS THERE I HAVE SAID IT SO I WON'T NOW LAPSE Yo drillmaster, you are all Hubris like, thinking you always are having teh greatest rhyme when you should know that "term" and "burn" don't work no time not even for a foo', not for a little tike. Now you see what I did there was A B B A It's a rhyme scheme more interesting than some repetitive stuff which you claim is the best, of which I've had enough, so show me some good rhymes or get on your way.1 point -
The LEGO Ninjago Movie
Quisoves Potoo reacted to le717 for a topic
Meanwhile, the news media says the Ninjago movie is a "spin off" from TLM despite having no citation to back up that claim and the offical press release not saying such (thankfully, they have not picked up this teaser trailer). Just because WB produced the amazing movie known as The LEGO Movie, some of the directors of TLM are working on this, and the fact they do mention the success of TLM does not mean Ninjago is a spinoff. Some may say this teaser is proof it is, but it really isn't. Both TLM and Ninjago is, well, LEGO, and what better way to announce your upcoming LEGO-themed film than by advertising it alongside your still-popular previous LEGO-themed film? I've read that press release multiple times. I see nothing that would suggest Ninjago is a TLM spinoff. What I do see is WB capitalizing on The LEGO Movie's success by officially announcing a new LEGO movie that has some of the same people who worked on TLM working on this (yes, I know we knew about this last year. I've taken that into account). Just like the Apple rumors, one fire feeds another until it has grown into this. I recall seeing articles around TLM's release saying one thing that, when traced back to the source, said nothing of the sort. *sigh* EDIT: I just noticed the Dan and Kevin Hageman (writers of the TV show) are not listed in the press release. Interesting...1 point -
The LEGO Ninjago Movie
Quisoves Potoo reacted to Seaborgium for a topic
Ninjago is like a buffalo that was shot with arrows and is still dragging along west. It's made it to Denver already amazingly, but really, just let the poor thing die. It should have died years ago. Heck, people speculate that it actually did die after three years and has been raised from the grave by some heinous to continue as a undead cash-not-cow-but-similar-enough.1 point -
LEGO1.DLL Documentation
Quisoves Potoo reacted to Noneatme for a topic
Sorry for the double post, but I've got some updates, Some guy I know helped me reversing the lego1.dll, and we finally got something reversed. The .SI files will be parsed in this functions: (The green ones are decompiled) Lego Island / Mindscape uses his own engine, all engine functions have the "Mx"-keyword in their name. (MxFile, MxOmni(Sounds)) It seems that the game reads the first 12 bytes of the .SI file in order to get the .SI file version. (It must be 2.2, otherwise the game will exit) The problem is that it doesn't make sense at all because there is no number in any .si file, so we think theres an archive format located between the files. (RIFF) We managed to decompile some functions, but we are still working on it.1 point
