Full gallery and info (it has an interior!): http://web.archive.org/web/20140806004838/http://home.comcast.net/~deadboymgo/site/?/page/Lego_CSS_Chi-Town/ Wow. I didn't even know that LEGO Creator was technically capable of something this big. To the guy who built this: Darn good job. Update - The original webpage is down, switched out with a link to the web archives.15 points -

LEGO Creator Dev Comments
Lair and 4 others reacted to lol username for a topic
I'm sure many people here have seen this video already: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srpXXSA-DnY A kid and his dad playing LEGO Creator on September 7th, 2001... Happily building a house, turning it into a skyscraper, then blowing it up with a destructa-brick... Yeah. Anyway, I was reminded of this video tonight while discussing the game with a friend, and noticed these comments on it, by the same person (a developer), somewhere around a year apart: On a related note, on October 15-16 2011, somebody constructed a pretty specific overview of the development of the entire series on Wikipedia. Here are the bits he/she added: Yes, yes, this is Wikipedia, home to many a load of BS (see below) - but given the details of what was written in this instance, this doesn't particularly smell of BS to me, it smells more like a dev or somebody else involved writing about the process the series went through. (Side note: There are no other edits to any articles listed under that IP, besides that batch of edits on the LEGO Creator article.) Now for that BS - a previous edit to the Creator page claimed that it was to have a N64 port, but after looking into the magazine the edit referenced and edit history of the editor, it seems that either said editor has a bizarre sense of humor or he/she was editing Wikipedia while drunk. There seems to be no evidence for any of his/her claims anywhere - which included saying that LCKK was going to have PS1 and N64 ports, that LI2 had a N64 port that was forcibly canceled by a magazine in anger after reviewing it, and that DDI was "similar to Nintendo", all while sometimes including bizarre and vague insults at things. Ah, the internet!5 points -
Community Project: RRU: The Webcomic
BadDream and 3 others reacted to Ayliffe for a topic
I've been working on this for some time in the background for a while and I've only mentioned it on the Shoutbox recently, but now it's time for me to finally reveal this and ask for some feedback. Basically, my idea is to run a webcomic based around the members of RRU on the 'LMS Observer' trying to get back to earth in one piece. However, instead of me doing every single strip on my own and doing everything, my idea was to have various members do some of the strips, and instead of them trying to do each comic in my own style (which is quite dodgy anyways) they will be allowed to do their strip in their own unique style, as long as the characters are recognizable and aren't completely different (for example, you could draw Cirevam in a manga style, but you can't give him a quiff or a pink raincoat, otherwise he wouldn't be recognisable as Cirevam). If you're interested in joining in please shout at me in a post below or send me a shouty PM. Before we even start with the actual webcomic though, each character that will be in the webcomic will need a Character Sheet. This is basically a drawing of them coupled with a description of their personality and some backstory if nessasary. This is so that when one of us is doing a strip and forgets what a certain character looks like or how they would react in a certain situation due to their personality. So far I've done two character drawings and thought up several descrptions, which I'll post later on when I have time. Also it may be worth noting that I probably won't be putting every single member of RRU to ever exist ever in the webcomic mainly because otherwise we'll get too many characters who are extremely similar to each other and keeping track of everyone would be a pain, so I'll probably limit the amount of characters to about 15 or 20. Anyway, What do you guys think about this? PEOPLE WHO WANT TO DO SOME DRAWING FOR THIS: SOMESWEDISH BEN24x7 CHARACTER DRAWINGS AND DESCRIPTIONS: Chief Cirevam: DESCRIPTION: After an unfortunate incident with the former Chief Cyrem and a rock monster, Cirevam was pushed up the ranks and was deemed a suitable new Chief for the LMS Observer. He is usually quite serious about his position, but occasionally he can be a bit more relaxed. For since reason he has never been seen without his infamous shades and sideburns, and asking for him to remove either of these key features will possibly get you ejected off the ship. Ayliffe: DESCRIPTION: As a member of a mining ship filled with high tech equipment and advanced computing software, you would expect everyone to be a computers expert, and nearly everyone on the LMS Observer is. Everyone except Ayliffe, that is. Him and technology simply don't get on at all, and even the simplest tasks such as sending an email can be the hardest thing in the universe. This may explain why he is the only member of the ship to still use a classic typewriter to send letters. **UPDATE** Sorry for the crudeness of this update, I'm on the mobile site so I can't really do much at the moment. Anyway, when I first set this up I was meant to put the first two character drawings and their descriptions in the OP, but in the end I completely forgot to do this, so I've put them in now. Also, I noticed that some people were very interested in doing some of the strips, so I've added a list of people who are interested in taking part in the OP too. I'm off to Paris for a week today, so I won't be able to scan any character drawings but I'll make sure I have several to upload when I get back!4 points -

Quote by Ayliffe: on today at this time: -------------------------------------- Great! Got any examples of your drawing skills to show us? ------------------------------------------------------------- This isn't in TCAD, but I threw this together in P.N for the anniversary. Notice it's only lines and circles. Not freehand. Also, I drew a minifig in TCAD (I'll link it later cause my phone hates RRU, hence the wonderful quoting above) But anyway that's what I can do.2 points -

Martin Wood, who did Art Direction & Management for Island Xtreme Stunts and Character Models/Textures for Soccer Mania, has his own portfolio website: 11/13/15: Two years after posting this, I finally made an effort to contact him. In my message, I introduced myself and explained how I found his site. Specific questions about the games were not prepared yet, but I told him that they would be composed and asked later. The only question I had immediately was if he had any more images like the ones above. 11/22/15: I finished composing questions and sent them off in another e-mail (See last post on first page).1 point -
Mafia: The Game

WELL THAT WAS ANTI-CLIMACTIC Yeah, Fush didn't even show how the Mafia won. I WAS UNPREPARED OKAY. I WAS EXPECTING ANOTHER DAY TO WRITE THE ENDING, BUT I DIDN'T GET ONE CAUSE I SUCK AT MATH. We should smooth some things out before the next round, in terms of voting, changing votes and all that. I propose: Votes do not count unless marked final. Once marked final, a vote cannot be changed. In the event of a tie, another vote will be taken to allow for players to change their vote if wanted. If, after the second vote, a tie remains, then we will resort to a tiebreaker. Sound okay? If enforced, these simple guidelines should keep things running smoothly.1 point -

Games like Rock Raiders?
Hacked reacted to LimeKiller for a topic
I don't know, there are a lot of similar elements. For sure, Dungeon Keeper isn't based on resource management, but I feel it may have had some influence. The way the player digs paths is similar, and claiming land is a bit like building a power path. Then you have to send your imps out to mine gold and bring it back to the treasure room. It even has a first-person mode where you can play as your minions. Considering the uniqueness of Rock Raiders, Dungeon Keeper may actually be one of the closest games to the concept. Edit for clarity - I'm specifically talking about the 1997 original, not the mobile version. It's also the only version I've played.1 point -
