Modding Bionicle Heroes
STUDZ and 6 others reacted to maver1k_XVII for a topic
So, I recently discovered this forum while searching for something and I decided to contribute some interesting information. I hope it's okay to use this topic even though it's 2 years old. Some time ago I decided to take a look at the resources of Bionicle Heroes to see if I could find anything interesting. I've extracted the main archive and found the files that I assumed were models. After a week or two of effort I managed to make a more or less working script for a tool called Noesis that is able to open the models from the PC version of the game, but without the skeleton structure. Here is a bunch of pictures: ' alt='' class='ipsImage' > ' alt='' class='ipsImage' > ' alt='' class='ipsImage' > ' alt='' class='ipsImage' > ' alt='' class='ipsImage' > ' alt='' class='ipsImage' > ' alt='' class='ipsImage' > Beside that I found out that there is a number of unused models. Those are the 3 matoran models mentioned in the first post, silver rahkshi and masks of Toa Metru. Unfortunately they have a slightly different structure from the rest and I still can't get my script to work properly with those models. However it's possible to get their textures (dds) with the exception of matoran who lack any. Here are textures of Toa Metru masks for example: And here is a picture of Whenua's model: I tweaked the script so it can open the model above, but it's still doesn't work for other Toa Metru masks and the UV coordinates are missing. I also took a look at the models from the GameCube, PS2 and NDS ports. All three of them use different model format, but the ones for GameCube and PS2 are more or less similar to the one for the PC. DS port has a completely different format and on top of it the models and textures are aparently compressed.7 points -

So Mythrun/Ariistuujj made a nifty program thingy that I personally call the LEGO Universe Anti-Anti-Haxinator. It generates the string(s) the game uses to determine if a file is "legitimate" or not, thus allowing you to add/change the live game's assets... Er, dead game's assets. It's fun.3 points -

Yeah, I agree with you. It becomes boring quite quickly and collectibles don't really feel worth the time, but at least it was better then Bionicle: the Game as for me. And by the way I forgot to mention that the matoran models look really weird. I could only view them as a bunch of points, but they looked like some sort of vehicle . I made a picture, but I guess it's hard to tell anything from this point cloud. The thing at the bottom is the only part of the model I was able to view with vertexes connected correctly. There are probably more then 10 parts, not sure.3 points -

Well there doesn't seem to be a topic for this yet, so I may as well get the ball rolling. There is quite a bit of content in Bionicle Heroes not seen by public eyes. I'm not just talking about the developer trivia and bug lists, but also things like unused NPCs, (or I think they are anyway..): And debug/test levels. The latter of which actually contains multiple test levels, one of which I was able to get partially functional on the Nintendo Gamecube port. The only problem is that when you look in a specific direction, the game will always crash. Is there any chance somebody can help me figure out why the level is doing this? If nothing else, it's something to get the topic rolling. I'd also be very curious to see those Matoran files in game or otherwise, unfortunately I can't find anything capable of unpacking the .pak files which in this game I'm almost certain contain model data. Another thing I was trying to do yesterday but failing to do, the demo for Bionicle Heroes had superior Hero Mode mechanics, requiring a button be pushed to activate it, and giving you a time limit to use it. I was hoping to try to port this into the final game, but I'm not sure what files reference it. Any ideas on that?2 points -

I had actually built the alternate models from the Rapid Rider and Kabaya sets, but forgotten to post them! For the most part, they match up with what you have (although, for the first Rapid Rider model, I used the 1x2 slope bricks included in the set in place of the 1x3 slope bricks pictured on the box). However, I must respectfully point out that your alternate model for 1277 Drill Craft is slightly inaccurate. The saw pieces are what attach the "headlights" to the craft, like so: Yes, those holder bricks hang off rather haphazardly, but according to the official image that's how they're supposed to be, blame LEGO, not me. So the Rock Raiders Kabaya sets have combiner models? I suspected as such, Kabaya tradition and all, but I can't find any good pictures of them, or else I would have loved to try building them myself. In fact, the only picture I could find is this one... which, I suppose, if I squint my eyes enough, would be manageable, but first I'm curious to see if there's a better image available. Also, while I'm here, in addition to the Rapid Rider and Kabaya alternates, I also had the three alternate models for the Hover Scout sitting around on my computer. Seeing this topic pop again made me feel motivated enough to post them:2 points -

I've had these sitting on my PC for a while now but I just now got around to uploading them because Sadie asked. First, the three models from the Rapid Rider box. NOTE: This model requires parts that are NOT INCLUDED with the set in question, specifically the 1x3 slopes (some pictures of the set show it with 1x3s, but the set itself has 1x2s in their place) And next, a small, unassuming hovercraft from the Tunnel Transport box EDIT: Kabaya sets. The image includes both the standard models and the alternate models. I started to build the combiners but LDD crashed and I didn't feel like restarting.2 points -

What the hell, jamesster. I was wearing white pants. Then I saw that video. And now, I'm wearing brown pants. I wouldn't have been able to handle not soiling my pants non-stop for the next six hours if I saw even just one skeleton in this video. Just the sight of one skeleton is spooky enough, but an entire universe of them? Look at them popping out, so spooky and scary. There are not enough toilets in the world to contain the amount of poo-spewing fear that I'm going through right now. It's a good thing skeletons aren't real.2 points -

Mafia: The Game
The Ace Railgun reacted to Fluffy Cupcake for a topic
Game Rules Found Here ~See bottom of post for roles. The Minimal amount of players required to play is 6. Current Game Status: N/A Sign up list: Round 13 Registration Open Xiron Yajmo chromecrusher aidenpons Fushigisaur(?) Narration Queue: le717 Fushigisaur JimbobJeffers MaelstromIslander *Narrator's Note: Don't name all your PMs the same. It makes your job very tedious. Auto-registered players Spoiler Fushigisaur Xiron Previous Rounds: If you are interested in narrating, here are some template messages to send people at the beginning of a round. Day/Night A core part of the game. The game starts out mid-day. Introduce yourselves, and talk amongst others. You are free to accuse on this day if you find someone's introduction suspicious in any way, but a vote count cannot be gathered. Night then follows. Night is when you sleep, and the baddies come out to play. Important rule: Revealing proof of your role to anyone privately (i.e. screenshot), even out of desperation, is NOT PERMITTED. If someone does this, report them to the game moderator in a Private Message immediately. ROLES: The innocent; Who make up the majority of the people, basically go into the game knowing nothing, not even the "other roles" (because then the mafia would know... and then they would kill off the special roles). The only thing they can do is make a vote (WHICH ALL ROLES DO) on who to kill off the next day and scheme talk with the other players. Once everyone votes, the day ends. You can also decided not to vote if you so desire. The mafia; Depending on the amount of players, there may be one or more of them. The goal of the mafias is to kill off all the rest of the players and to not be killed themselves; The mafias can do one kill per night, and the mafias know who each other are, so they don't have a chance of killing each other. The moderator/narrator; There is only one of these, and this person takes the role of getting the information on who to kill from the mafia and the other stuff from special roles in a PM, and dictate the results (and may be in a story like fashion if so desired) the next day. They also are responsible for counting the votes on who the citizens decide to vote/kill off. Special/Secondary roles; There is no limit as to how many different roles can exist at once, meaning it is possible for everyone in the game to be special for extra chaos. The Doctor: May protect one player per night from getting killed (so if the mafia tries to kill that person, and the doctor is protecting them they won't die!) There are a couple other roles special, but I won't get into them now unless there is a overwhelming amount of players. Detective/Police/Seer: May investigate one player per night. The narrator then tells them if the person is innocent or mafia, they do not get to know if the role is special or not. If they discover the mafia, they can't reveal it (actually they can, because a lot of people might be voting while fakingly saying "THIS PERSON IS THE MAFIA! KILL THEM!"), but they should try and persuade the citizens to vote for the mafia. Be careful though, or they might mistake you as one! Seer's Apprentice: The seer and apprentice do not know who each other are. If the seer gets killed, the apprentice takes its place. Spellcaster: Mutes a player for one day. The muted person isn't allowed to talk. Hunter/Vigilante/Bomb: This person is on the innocents side. One night they choose a player to kill, hopefully it is the mafia! The narrator can choose to put a halt for kills between nights for this player so they can't be used their ability every night. A variant for this player is that they can drop a bomb and a person will die mid-day instead. 'The drunkard': The drunkard is like a normal innocent, but they can only reply with grunts and noises. They are not permitted to speak during the day, should they do so, they will die at night. Witch: The narrator tells this player each night who the mafia aims to kill. This player can either save the person, redirect the kill to someone else, or choose not to do anything this night. The witch can only save/kill another person once per game. Cupid: The narrator pairs two players together (at random). If one dies, the other dies with them. These players know who each other are with. Cupid cannot be paired with another role. Traitor: This person is not on anyone's side, but they aim to save the mafia, because if they win, so does this person! Mafia trainee: They know the mafia, and the mafia knows them. The trainee helps the main mafia decided who to kill off. If the big boss mafia dies, the game still goes on, and this player will take over as the main mafia. Due to their lack of skill though, they won't have a 100% kill rate. Mafia's Child: An alternate to the above, although he game will not go on when the mafia dies. When this person dies the mafia gets to kill TWO people in one night out of rage for their lost child. Siblings/Twins/Friends - These two know each other! They know they are innocent, but they CAN'T tell anyone or else they die (because of a curse put on them, let's go with that). The village idiot: Always votes yes to all accusations. The depressed: This person hates their life. They win the game if they die. THEY WANT TO DIE. You try not to make this obvious though, because if you do, everyone will know this is who you are and won't want to kill you. For more info on the game and additional roles: See here or Wikipedia. If the mafia equals the amount of other players remaining, the mafia wins.1 point -

I'm glad you did, I very much hate inaccurate information being spread. I want these models to be as accurate as possible, and that includes being corrected when I do something wrong Eventually I'll organize this thread and when I do, I'll be sure to use the correct version. Sadie pulled some strings and got a better picture from someone who owns the sets. And here it is edited with the names in English: Hot Air Pelican really threw me for a loop- it doesn't even make sense! But I'm 90% certain it's correct. In addition, here's a (very low res) picture of the instructions to build the Hot Air Pelican1 point -

d3drm.dll problem with Windows 7 (not what you think)
Rootbeer128 reacted to TheDoctor for a topic
There are three reasons this could be happening (in order of most to least likely). You've installed the game wrong and it doesn't work. You've managed to get a bad version of d3drm.dll, which can be found here: [Link] You're system is weird and we have no idea why it's doing that. I made a java tool to manually install the game from the disk a while back. If you have the disk this will work for you, otherwise you have a unique problem. [Link]1 point -

only things I can think of is to make sure your d3drm.dll is the correct size of 342kb (thats what mine is) and if that doesn't help maybe see if it is possible to run on a virtual machine in 32 or 16 bit mode. (not sure if it is possible to run at lower bit than your pc though) EDIT: I just double checked and my D3drm.dll is in the system folder NOT system 32 or the installation directory so maybe try putting it there instead as well.1 point -

Just a quick update today as I haven't gotten much building done in the past week. I did a bit of work on the tail section and I think I've come up with a design that should be quite strong once it's finished. It's also now getting close to how long it's going to end up being once finished. I have actually run out of 1x16 studded beams so I might replace some in the tail with 1x14 studded beams. And thats it for this update. Hopefully I get a bit more building done this week.1 point -
