No, Cirevam, that would have been way too obvious and you know, that my comics are well known for their subtle humour and complex storylines . Nevertheless: Thanks to your post I have a new idea based on the path finding issue. btw: Shall I redo some of my older comics? I have only redone No. 1 many months ago, because the original looked really bad, but I am not sure about the other ones. (Oh no, I turn into George Lucas! Special Edition Comics everywhere ! Just kidding, but maybe I will bundle all comics into one pdf-file one day and want to make them in the same style for consistency's sake).2 points -

Academy of Flight?
Quisoves Potoo and one other reacted to emily for a topic
That's certainly strange. Even stranger that it's called just "Academy of Flight" when all of the other titles in the list use 'LEGO' (Galidor excluded since it followed the same branding rules as BIONICLE). Seeing as the press release is from 2001 and advertises 2002 games, it seems fair to assume it is a concept that got scrapped. Also note that it doesn't say anything specific about Soccer Mania, just a LEGO Sports series of games. In tandem with the fact that they were attempting a (rather ridiculously ambitious) 30 total titles 2002-2004, it would seem that Soccer Mania was originally only the first in a line of many Sports games. The second one may even have gotten some way into development, like LEGO Racers 4. If they really were planning 30 games, I have to wonder if a LEGO Island 4 or even 5 was on the table.2 points -

For the last couple of months or so I have been collecting people for a massive project called Project Hane or in English, Project Wing. We currently have 6 members who specialize in various places, from weapons design, to Character conceptualization. Now however we are looking for more members to fill positions, and if you want to join or know somebody who would be interested in an available position send me a PM with your Skype username and you'll be given more info through the chat. The genre of the sereis is going to be Sci-Fi/Noir/Mech Available Positions: Actors (15) Animator (2-3) Director of Animation (1) Background Scenery Artist (1) Current positions filled: Actor: Drill Master, Jason, McJobless Director of Music and Sound: Drill Master Concept Artists: Sven(Humanoid characters), Katie(Non-human characters), Dev(Weapons) I really don't want to give away the plot as we are in early Pre-production and planning mode right now and all of my members follow a Non-Disclosure agreement. If you want more info either PM me or Drill Master Below is some great concept art done by my wonderful humanoid character concept artist Sven. I'll update this thread with more art and info as we continue production. Guniko Fuku1 point -
Wot I Fink: What Can I Learn From Zoe Quinn & Depression Quest?
The Ace Railgun reacted to McJobless for a blog entry
Let's just get down to this in dot-point form. I'm barely in the mood for writing, but I want to get my thoughts out now. Depression Quest showcases the entirely wrong way to make a game that is supposed to bring awareness to a significant health issue. Depression is very serious, and it's important people seek treatment options where possible. Normally, just like you would have seen with Coming Out Simulator, the developer makes a nice, small, personal game that is very engaging and relies on the age old "Show, don't tell" principle, so that the audience can come to the conclusion themselves, feel smarter for it, thereby making the message stick. Depression Quest did not do this at all. It is a poorly designed interactive fiction that has attempted to brand itself as a video game, while failing to uphold the tenants of any video game. It is nowhere near engaging, and actually makes me despise the main character and their struggle, as opposed to Coming Out Simulator, where I was VERY moved by the events of the plot. As a common courtesy, do not take advantage of your partner in any relationship for your own game. The fact she cheated on her boyfriend (I'm sure he might not be completely innocent, but nonetheless) with at least 5 other guys is absolutely ridiculous, and it doesn't matter who you are, whether you're some random on the street or a world famous actor. The idea of being in a relationship is that you can trust your partner, and breaking that is a serious breach of any ethical code. If you engage in any form of social media, don't be a f****ing dickhead and use death/rape/other serious threats, personal insults, pull personal information or so on against a target or their family/friends. You have the right to voice your opinion, but you should not (and probably don't) have the right to be an absolute prick to anybody about it. You may not understand this, but there is a person behind that monitor who will read those messages, and just like if you received the same level of hatred, they will suffer from it. If you are a journalist and you know you have any form of bias towards something you are prepared to discuss, unless you're in some form of debate or you make it clear that you have that bias (and maybe let people know where the bias stems from, such as playing a game franchise since childhood or being friends with the developer), you should make it a must to remove yourself from reviewing or discussing the content. We right now are plagued with journalists who have significant biases, are not telling people, and allow those biases to shape the content that is published. It is a breach of free speech, and it is disrespectful to your audience. Furthermore, the developers who rely on the reviews as a means to get feedback on how to improve their games will suffer if you give them straight As, as they will never grow or learn and will continue to make mistakes. If you do not play games, do not study games, or have only the most bare-bones relationship with games, you can only provide a very narrow scope of opinions about games. Until you are involved in any part of the industry (from player to developer), understand that your agendas may not be valid due to misinformation, and that you honestly should be discussing and focusing on issues that are closer to your personal interests, be that music, movies, politics, war etc. Men and Women think about fundamentally different things in different ways. The games industry has been a male-centric industry for its entire lifespan thus far, but we are now reaching a point where more women are entering and bringing new opinions. We absolutely need to have a fair discussion about these issues, but we must remember to be respectful of each other, and know that there thousands of developers out there, making thousands of games, so that there will always be a game to fill every certain niche. We don't need every game to do the same thing, and that's okay. It's okay to have games for entertainment and games for education. It's okay to have AAA titles and indie titles. Let's be mindful that we are a community of many different ideals and interests. The use of parody, deconstruction, humour and sarcasm is generally to allow for discussion of serious issues. It's a way of brushing out the harshness, and allowing for people to look at the issue in a much less negative light, and hopefully reach a more peaceful communication line. We all need to understand that life is not about being safe and ignoring the "dangerous" topics, because if we do not, life will become a more dangerous place. The issues presented by this entire scandal have to be discussed. We need to reach conclusions that will hopefully better the industry. It has pointed out flaws, and it is time to take a serious look at these flaws and reach a means of solving them. Aside from a few egos, nobody has anything to lose from this communication. There has been a blatant stream of miscommunication and wrong facts in almost all areas of this entire situation. Everything from the people involved in the sex scandal to the semi-related Phil Fish/Polytron dox. It is massively confusing for the majority of people (myself included) who don't religiously follow the entire Internet during this time of "crisis" to see a line of "facts" with fictional evidence and no real supporting claims, and this creates a lot of fallacies during the ensuing arguments. If you are going to have a major opinion in this, please do your research. I'm sure I had more, but I'm going to stick with this for now. I've bounced between "sides" during the past 7 days, but right now I'm going to stay neutral, because in the end it doesn't really affect me as much as I thought. I'm going to make the games I want and I know will actually both engage and teach players, monitor and plan out my social communications, and I'm going to keep my professional relationships separate from my private relationships. Those are really the key lessons to take away from this. Be mindful of your actions, be respectful, but also don't ask to sweep the issues under the rug. It is clear that, in the aftermath, problems inherit within gaming media and the player community have become apparent, and we need to work together to solve these issues.1 point -

It's time for something completely different and unexpected from me. A giveaway competition! What's the competition about you may ask? Well, since this forum is about games, I thought, why not do something related to gaming? What you'll be doing for this competition is getting the best run you can on stage one of Freedom Planet, aka Dragon Valley, aka the only stage you have full access to complete on the demo. If you hate time trialish things, read what I have to say in the Q&A for a full why explanation. How to compete: What do you have to do you may ask? Well, first, if you don't already own the game, download the demo here: http://freedomplanet.galaxytrail.com/index.htm (Windows and Mac only). Secondly, as both Lilac and Carol, post your best times! Times for both characters will be added up for your total time. Don't worry, the game records times by character, not by best run by any chracter on the stage. You can submit as many times as you want, no limits! *Any speedrun times you've done before the time of this post is not a valid entry. Deadline: Saturday, September 13th 2014, 12:00 AM Sharp (Midnight), Mountain Time (UTC -7) If you win: I will need an email or Steam account to send the stuff to. So when I contact you, be prepared to hand out one or the other. *If no response within 48 hours, you lose your prize to the next person in line. Rules: Final results are required to be in video format (if you aren't on some video site like Youtube, just upload it to a file sharing site). If you have any issues where you still can't do this, contact me, amends can be made. If you try to pull a fast one (pun not intended) and cheat time, you'll be banned from competing. If not time is not final, you can post a screenshot. If you play on Easy difficulty, you will receive a +30 second penalty. If you play on Casual, you will receive a 50 second penalty. No penalty for other difficulties. Full Game + OST *Choice of Steam or non-Steam version. Full Game *Choice of Steam or non-Steam version OST *Choice of Steam or non-steam version (not 100% sure on this one, I can't think of any better prize at the moment because prints aren't available for the official artwork, and the one t-shirt merchandise costs more than the game itself! If you have any better suggestions, please throw them my way!) Additional Notes For First Time Players Regarding Gameplay: Don't try to tackle this all in one day, play a little bit (or a lot, whatever suits you), take it slow and gradually get your times down. You do have three weeks afterall. (How do you think >aidenpons and I got so good in a week?) While not required, a game controller is recommended for the game. Also, while time trial is the only thing you can do in the demo, you don't have to think of it as one while playing it to see if it interests you, it plays pretty much like the regular level, without the important bits, like cutscenes. Perhaps check a video on Youtube to see if the game is more interesting to you in the adventure mode aspect, and if it'll be worth fighting for if you still aren't sure. Since I've showed it to several others, I'll show it here. This is one of my better times for speedrunning with Lilac.(Though it's still not my best. ). And here is another attempt with the same time but with alternate routes. Also, here is a good Carol run by me as well:1 point -

Mafia: The Game
Fluffy Cupcake reacted to aidenpons for a topic
Three raiders left. Mael, who had just finished his sandwich, had to cast the deciding vote to find the Mafia once and for all. *heavy drumbeats* Mael looked up and said "Seaborgium. And that's final." *boomm boomm* Seaborgium was told to leave RR HQ and see how, if at all, Xiron was doing. So he left and went into the tunnel, armed with a drill, a scanner, and not enough sandwiches. What he didn't know was that aidenpons had secretly placed dynamite buried half a stud down into the soil. So he waited... until ever so faintly "Unit Teleported Safely." Checking up in his personal Chrome Crusher they found nothing. Except that there was a little hatch where the shouldn't have been. Inside the hatch was found bottles of poison, large quantities of dynamite, energy crystals with a note 'For luring monsters,' and a piece of dynamite reskinned to look like a Sonic Blaster. Seaborgium was the Mafia. Seaborgium, you deserve a round of applause. This is your first game here, and probably the first in your life or else you'd have joined sooner. Congratulations on dodging blame, placing blame, cleverly lying, on a first round. *can't be bothered finding a confetti gif* But what I do have is my Chrome Crusher set around here... and there's a green laser... CONGRATULATIONS END ROUND... 9? 8? Yah, I think it's 8.1 point -
IXS Cheat Codes
Cirevam reacted to lol username for a topic
Wait, LI2 had physics? Seriously though, the first thing I noticed upon first playing IXS was the character control as compared to LI2. LI2 was twitchy, kept clipping through things, there was no slope detection, etc. Jumping was absolutely horrible, but at least you didn't ever actually have a use for it so you could stay clear of it. Oh wait, it's as if they couldn't decide if they wanted to be Mario (jump at the press of a button) or Zelda (jump when walking off of a ledge) so they did both, and the auto-jumping was broken as well... IXS feels much nicer to me. Instead of being able to climb up 89 degree steep cliffs except for where the devs had put invisible walls, you just slide down if it's too steep. Jumping isn't just not broken, it's useful. The only quirk with it that comes to mind is a bug where the game sometimes doesn't notice you've stopped sliding until you move in the direction you were sliding, but it's far from a game breaker - I'll take that over the various features in LI2 such as randomly getting stuck inside of buildings and flora, and somehow even getting caught on acute corners of walls. I also found the arcade-y Wave Catcher physics to be a lot of fun, and wished that they applied to boats on the main island as well. Were you playing IXS without v-sync enabled by any chance? The game gets progressively glitchier as the framerate gets higher, particularly the physics, and even more particularly the Wave Catcher physics. This was fun.1 point -
