Okay, well I attempted making Lilac's Treehouse from >Freedom Planet. It turned out... eh, alright I guess. Two things annoyed me while making this: The inconsistancies between the inside and outside Only having large blocks to work with, making things look inproper or ugly (One of the things I hate most about Minecraft...). Microblocks mod needs to become a vanilla thing.3 points -

On it. Thank you It's amazing how many people attempt to talk about trending topics like "feminism" and "sexism" and apply it to games where it doesn't actually exist until people start picking on little details. If you pick on everything in small detail, everything will have some sort of problem, but if it doesn't suit the current agenda or have any benefit to them, it won't be discussed. Click baiting is at an all time high with headlines at the moment using these words. There seems to be a new attitudes of, if a woman says it, it must be right and any sort of disagreement from a male with them is seen as an attack and oppression because "misogyny".2 points -
Insane Raiders [2022-12-29: Occasional updates are still happening!]
Starrocks923 reacted to Arthuriel for a topic
Update (2022-12-29): I don't know how often I will use this forum, but I just wanted to write that once in a while I still make Insane Raiders themed comics. They are simpler (more like a sketch) and without colour, but they are still full of dubious decisions related to dynamite and landslides! Since I posted those only in Discord chat rooms etc. so far (where they can go under) I wanted to put them in one place and so I added them to my existing Insane Raiders gallery on DeviantArt. I hope you enjoy them! https://www.deviantart.com/arthuriel/gallery/50994783/insane-raiders Note: It can take a few seconds to load all the comics (depending on your internet connection). Hi, this is a thread, where I will try to continue a comic series every or every second week (note: replace week with month(s)). Usually they are based on my experiences with the Rock Raider PC game and the behavior of the Rock Raiders (including a good portion of insanity and exaggaration). Number 1. Dynamite Number 2. LEGO Racers Online
Ben24x7 reacted to Hoithebest for a topic
It's been a dream for all of us for a very, very long time... I'm proud to announce: LEGO Racers Online! Me and my brother have been working on this very hard for the last couple of days and the result is amazing. Please note that I'm not posting anything yet but a little teasing screenshot, but we are working REALLY hard to make something that we can all use and enjoy this game like when we we're kids! 02/08/2014: New video added. Scroll to the bottom of this post to watch it! 04/08/2014: New status update added. 20/08/2014: New status update and video added. 05/10/2014: New status update added. 12/10/2014: New status update added. 20/10/2014: New status update added. 27/10/2014: New status update added. 05/11/2014: New status update added. 16/11/2014: New status update added. Current status: Currently, the following functions are implemented and working properly: Play online with two players real-time (1 VS 1) - INCLUDING POWER-UPS! Patch the game automatically. However, we do have all the required information to drive all the opponent from within the software (tested and working). We are working on an implementation of playing against eachother with up to five other players right now. We can't say when this is finished, but we don't expect a very long time. Added 20/08/2014: Power-Ups are now working properly. This means, whenever someone uses Power-Ups, this is getting fired on your client too! Although it is now possible to patch the game automatically, this is not a perfect solution and we are working on something that makes it possible to play online "on demand". Added 05/10/2014: Although I have not been developing actively on game functions, I am now working on and completing a critical step to split the software accepting both TCP and UDP network traffic which is required for some functions, for example connecting to a game server. PLEASE NOTE THAT I AM CURRENTLY BUSY WITH SCHOOL AND I DO NOT ALWAYS HAVE TIME TO DEVELOP ON THIS PROJECT! I HOPE YOU CAN UNDERSTAND THIS! The following things must be completed and working before release: Full implementation of TCP and UDP traffic; Starting a new Race; A chat function, if people are interested in this function. Added 12/10/2014: Last week I have not been developing very much and this will continue for a few more weeks due to school. The good news is that Grappigegovert has proven his immensive skills again and developed and gave me the code to disable the loading of AI paths so patching the game can be removed from the software now. Also, he created functions to start a Race from the software so the Server can tell the Clients to start a specific Race. All credits go to Grappigegovert for his massive research and developing. Added 20/10/2014: Due to school, I have not been developing actively on the online functionality again, but Grappigegovert and me made some nice improvement with the API. This API will be released in the open source (near) future and will give developers the opportunity to create mods very easy. Added 27/10/2014: Due to school, I have not been developing actively again. The good news is, the software is now fully compatible with TCP and UDP, more structured and the API has been put into a seperate project which will result in a release of the public API soon. This API will be discussed in another thread that I will make in the near future. Please note that the project is not dead and I am still developing, but unfortunately due to school I just do not have much time for this great project. Added 05/11/2014: Good news. Last week I was able to develop more actively on the software, which resulted in the possibility to start races from the Server, which brings us a step closer to the release! I will create a new video of the current progress in the near future. Also, the API is getting prepared for a release with the last bug fixes and comments above the functions. Stay tuned! Added 16/11/2014: I am currently facing problems with the starting of the game client and additional events regarding to the API. I am still not satisfied with the way the API currently works. These problems must be solved in order to continue with the online functionality. Don't think that this project doesn't gain any progress, it just takes a lot of time. Please note the following things: It's not guaranteed that this mod will be ever online for public since this project has still needs many, many development hours; The Server and Client are both only in alpha stage at this moment. We are working really hard to create something that just works and anyone would understand; It is very hard to find all the addresses and the correct pointers, so this takes a lot of time; Currently our main goal is to make everything work on a basic game copy. This means that mods are NOT SUPPORTED (YET) and will likely crash the game when used! On the bright side: We currently do have something that works and we are working so hard to make it possible for everyone to enjoy this with us. It was our dream for many years and finally we took the step to actually create something, and not just for ourselves but for everyone who just loves LEGO Racers. I will keep you guys regularly informed. Make sure you check this post at least once a week as the project is under heavy development. Special thanks: We would like to thank Grappigegovert for his great help which resulted in massive improvement of the software. Thanks to this guy, a lot of things are now working (like using Power-Ups). Videos: The following videos show a demonstration of the system in action:1 point -

More progress has been made on the B-25 in the past week so here's what I've done. This past week I tried to focus on the placement of the motors for the landing gear and the mechanism to connect them to the actual landing gear. I also added the two main beams where the wings are going attach to. This is the motor for the landing gear on the wings. This is the motor of the nose landing gear. And as usual a picture of the over progress, I'll probably work on the tail section a bit more and get the battery box mounted as well this next week.1 point -

I think maver1k_XVII is right. Even in the .nxg_textures files are I think checksums. And I do not know how to calculate them. So replace files in them might not be easy at all. The .ghg and .gsc files contain realy much data. I had a look in the file you posted but there is nothing really interesting in it. I will see if i can share the results. Today I uploaded the tool I mentioned here: https://ore.rockraidersunited.org/legacy/StreamInfoReader_396752.zip Extract the .zip file and use the console (StreamInfoReader.exe filename.fileextention). You can pipe the output into a textfile. I hope it works too.1 point -

Wot I Fink: What Can I Learn From Zoe Quinn & Depression Quest?
The Ace Railgun reacted to McJobless for a blog entry
Let's just get down to this in dot-point form. I'm barely in the mood for writing, but I want to get my thoughts out now. Depression Quest showcases the entirely wrong way to make a game that is supposed to bring awareness to a significant health issue. Depression is very serious, and it's important people seek treatment options where possible. Normally, just like you would have seen with Coming Out Simulator, the developer makes a nice, small, personal game that is very engaging and relies on the age old "Show, don't tell" principle, so that the audience can come to the conclusion themselves, feel smarter for it, thereby making the message stick. Depression Quest did not do this at all. It is a poorly designed interactive fiction that has attempted to brand itself as a video game, while failing to uphold the tenants of any video game. It is nowhere near engaging, and actually makes me despise the main character and their struggle, as opposed to Coming Out Simulator, where I was VERY moved by the events of the plot. As a common courtesy, do not take advantage of your partner in any relationship for your own game. The fact she cheated on her boyfriend (I'm sure he might not be completely innocent, but nonetheless) with at least 5 other guys is absolutely ridiculous, and it doesn't matter who you are, whether you're some random on the street or a world famous actor. The idea of being in a relationship is that you can trust your partner, and breaking that is a serious breach of any ethical code. If you engage in any form of social media, don't be a f****ing dickhead and use death/rape/other serious threats, personal insults, pull personal information or so on against a target or their family/friends. You have the right to voice your opinion, but you should not (and probably don't) have the right to be an absolute prick to anybody about it. You may not understand this, but there is a person behind that monitor who will read those messages, and just like if you received the same level of hatred, they will suffer from it. If you are a journalist and you know you have any form of bias towards something you are prepared to discuss, unless you're in some form of debate or you make it clear that you have that bias (and maybe let people know where the bias stems from, such as playing a game franchise since childhood or being friends with the developer), you should make it a must to remove yourself from reviewing or discussing the content. We right now are plagued with journalists who have significant biases, are not telling people, and allow those biases to shape the content that is published. It is a breach of free speech, and it is disrespectful to your audience. Furthermore, the developers who rely on the reviews as a means to get feedback on how to improve their games will suffer if you give them straight As, as they will never grow or learn and will continue to make mistakes. If you do not play games, do not study games, or have only the most bare-bones relationship with games, you can only provide a very narrow scope of opinions about games. Until you are involved in any part of the industry (from player to developer), understand that your agendas may not be valid due to misinformation, and that you honestly should be discussing and focusing on issues that are closer to your personal interests, be that music, movies, politics, war etc. Men and Women think about fundamentally different things in different ways. The games industry has been a male-centric industry for its entire lifespan thus far, but we are now reaching a point where more women are entering and bringing new opinions. We absolutely need to have a fair discussion about these issues, but we must remember to be respectful of each other, and know that there thousands of developers out there, making thousands of games, so that there will always be a game to fill every certain niche. We don't need every game to do the same thing, and that's okay. It's okay to have games for entertainment and games for education. It's okay to have AAA titles and indie titles. Let's be mindful that we are a community of many different ideals and interests. The use of parody, deconstruction, humour and sarcasm is generally to allow for discussion of serious issues. It's a way of brushing out the harshness, and allowing for people to look at the issue in a much less negative light, and hopefully reach a more peaceful communication line. We all need to understand that life is not about being safe and ignoring the "dangerous" topics, because if we do not, life will become a more dangerous place. The issues presented by this entire scandal have to be discussed. We need to reach conclusions that will hopefully better the industry. It has pointed out flaws, and it is time to take a serious look at these flaws and reach a means of solving them. Aside from a few egos, nobody has anything to lose from this communication. There has been a blatant stream of miscommunication and wrong facts in almost all areas of this entire situation. Everything from the people involved in the sex scandal to the semi-related Phil Fish/Polytron dox. It is massively confusing for the majority of people (myself included) who don't religiously follow the entire Internet during this time of "crisis" to see a line of "facts" with fictional evidence and no real supporting claims, and this creates a lot of fallacies during the ensuing arguments. If you are going to have a major opinion in this, please do your research. I'm sure I had more, but I'm going to stick with this for now. I've bounced between "sides" during the past 7 days, but right now I'm going to stay neutral, because in the end it doesn't really affect me as much as I thought. I'm going to make the games I want and I know will actually both engage and teach players, monitor and plan out my social communications, and I'm going to keep my professional relationships separate from my private relationships. Those are really the key lessons to take away from this. Be mindful of your actions, be respectful, but also don't ask to sweep the issues under the rug. It is clear that, in the aftermath, problems inherit within gaming media and the player community have become apparent, and we need to work together to solve these issues.1 point -

I'm afraid making a mod won't be that easy. You see, it's not too hard to replace the textures as they are in DDS format, but the models are a completely different story. In order to add a custom model to the game you have to understand the model format completely or very close to it. It is usually difficult enough to grasp the format at least to the point of being able to view basic geometry, skeleton and animation are already a challenge. Putting models back in the game is multiple times more difficult.1 point -
