    Chief's Command Vehicle

This started out as a serious MOC - I was going to have a whole story written about it and everything - but then I just kept adding to it and it got a little ridiculous. So, I hereby present to you the monolithic six-wheeled behemoth that is Chief's Command Vehicle, his personal over-modded vehicle with all sorts of awesome lights and flashy bits. I built it using various parts from one of each set (well, most of them), with a few of my own spares added, constructing it all around a single vehicle base with an additional pair of wheels added in front. Overview Details I had a lot of fun making this, and it took 5-6 hours (I didn't realise I hadn't eaten lunch until I looked at the clock and it was 4pm...). I can't see it legitimately fitting into the game though.

    LEGO Racers Online

Thanks Grappigegovert. This is just exactly what I needed and this will give the project a real boost since I got stuck with the NPC racers. I hope to find some time to play with this project again (school starts tomorrow). Edit: I have just tried this out, and it is really just a really big missing piece that I can now implement into the software so we can create a real natural experience. Thanks again, this is incredible research. Thanks to Grappigegoverts awesome work, we've made some massive improvement in the project. Please check out the following video:

    LEGO Arctic Diorama

As with the Rock Raiders theme, the original Arctic theme released by LEGO in 2000 was one of my favourite themes growing up with LEGO and toys in general. So when it was re-released in a shiny new less-blue-more-orange outfit, how could I resist making a new diorama?* This diorama contains all five main sets, as well as one of the two limited releases, packed into one tight space under my other dioramas. The floor is made from foam rather than LEGO, in fact I think it was some kind of non-irritant insulation foam or something from an attic that was cut out and spray-painted (a couple of bugs were caught in the spray unfortunately and had to be dug out). Additionally, I added some of my own parts that were mainly bought from a Pick-a-Brick in my local LEGO shop. Here's the main view of this awesome snowy scene: And spoiler'd below are additional pictures. *Someone can probably quote me saying that, after seeing The LEGO Movie, I was going to stop making dioramas. Well, I enjoy dioramas. And I enjoy LEGO. So I figured I'd just take the best of both worlds - I don't stick big 'NO TOUCH' signs on my displays, rather I'm happy for other people to fiddle and play with them, and for me to just look at them.

    Construction Workers

Would you like to have generic construction workers running around your caverns instead of generic Rock Raiders? Do you like the construction worker outfits used in The LEGO Movie? Is LEGO Rock Raiders an awesome game? If you answered 'yes' to any of those questions, then this is the mod for you! It replaces the textures and colours of the standard Rock Raiders to make them into construction workers. The face textures are unedited so you can keep them generic or add your own. This mod also makes use of PWNZOR's awesome ?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>>Helmets V2 mod. Previews There are a couple of places this doesn't quite work, for instance the teleportation animation, but other than that they should work fine. Download Construction Workers Installation Instructions This mod requires a bit of editing to install, so this tutorial will make it as easy as possible for you. 1) Firstly, set up your game for modding using the beginner tutorial >here. It doesn't matter whether you use the WAD method or the DATA method. 2) This mod makes use of PWNZOR's excellent Helmets V2 mod to give the construction workers their helmets. Download both files in the topic ?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>>here. 3) Extract the RockRaider_For_Helmets.zip file first, placing the Pilot folder in the following location (overwiting all files): [Your extracted LegoRR0.WAD]/LegoRR0/Mini-Figures/Pilot 4) Then extract the HelmetsV2.zip file, open it up and enter the Bandit folder. Copy the VLPhead.lwo file and paste it into your Pilot folder so that it replaces the old file. Voila! The helmet is installed. 5) To change the colour of the helmets, open up the VLPhead.lwo file you just pasted into the Pilot folder in a hex editor (e.g. HxD). Scroll all the way down to line 20A0, at the end of the file, which is preceded by Material09..COLR... Highlight the three pairs of 3s (so 33 33 33), which define the current black colour of the helmets, and replace them with EE 11 11 to give the helmets their red colour. You can alternatively replace this with any colour you choose, just find its RGB value and convert it to HEX. 6) Now copy (and replace) over the new textures and files into the Pilot folder. They are: Pback.bmp Pbody.BMP Pbodyarm.bmp PlegRLower.bmp VLPbicepL.lwo VLPbicepR.lwo 7) If you are using the WAD method, recompile the WAD files, and finally launch the game to have your new construction workers ready! EDIT: If you'd like to fix up the Rock Raiders face so that it doesn't look so awkward, Cirevam has provided an alternative that looks much better here.

    RRU Minecraft Server

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hello all. I bring some news. I was able to get a hold of Jimbob Jeffers, The Server Admin yesterday. For those who are wondering, he is doing fine and all is going well. We had a nice chat for a while just sharing what we've been doing. After a bit, he asked how the server was doing, which it has been going rather well with no problems. I then proposed an idea to him. He agreed and gave me the green light. He has enabled Command Blocks (Mods only) and allowed me to build this. I call it a Gamemode Station. Now, what it does is it allows players to enter Creative or Survival Modes depending on which door they go through, seen here. Here's the deal, though. This is a test. If all goes well and we don't have any problems, I'll keep it up. If things start to get out of hand, I'll take it down and we'll go back to before. JJ liked the idea of freebuild as he put it, where the Survival and Creative worlds are as one. So you can go build a city somewhere and then switch to Survival to live in it. Basically, it's to give players more freedom. Now, with that being said, there are the rules, seen here. If Ace, Xiron, or Fush would like to add anything, or I have missed something, let me know. By the way, this station is just outside the Player Village. I would like to see how this works out. See how we grow from this. Also, before you ask, JJ did not say anything about updating to 1.8 yet. I can ask him later if I can contact him. I'm just not going to hound him about it since he still has some things on his plate. Anyway, that is the news. Enjoy the Creative Mode.

    LEGO Racers Online

It's been a dream for all of us for a very, very long time... I'm proud to announce: LEGO Racers Online! Me and my brother have been working on this very hard for the last couple of days and the result is amazing. Please note that I'm not posting anything yet but a little teasing screenshot, but we are working REALLY hard to make something that we can all use and enjoy this game like when we we're kids! 02/08/2014: New video added. Scroll to the bottom of this post to watch it! 04/08/2014: New status update added. 20/08/2014: New status update and video added. 05/10/2014: New status update added. 12/10/2014: New status update added. 20/10/2014: New status update added. 27/10/2014: New status update added. 05/11/2014: New status update added. 16/11/2014: New status update added. Current status: Currently, the following functions are implemented and working properly: Play online with two players real-time (1 VS 1) - INCLUDING POWER-UPS! Patch the game automatically. However, we do have all the required information to drive all the opponent from within the software (tested and working). We are working on an implementation of playing against eachother with up to five other players right now. We can't say when this is finished, but we don't expect a very long time. Added 20/08/2014: Power-Ups are now working properly. This means, whenever someone uses Power-Ups, this is getting fired on your client too! Although it is now possible to patch the game automatically, this is not a perfect solution and we are working on something that makes it possible to play online "on demand". Added 05/10/2014: Although I have not been developing actively on game functions, I am now working on and completing a critical step to split the software accepting both TCP and UDP network traffic which is required for some functions, for example connecting to a game server. PLEASE NOTE THAT I AM CURRENTLY BUSY WITH SCHOOL AND I DO NOT ALWAYS HAVE TIME TO DEVELOP ON THIS PROJECT! I HOPE YOU CAN UNDERSTAND THIS! The following things must be completed and working before release: Full implementation of TCP and UDP traffic; Starting a new Race; A chat function, if people are interested in this function. Added 12/10/2014: Last week I have not been developing very much and this will continue for a few more weeks due to school. The good news is that Grappigegovert has proven his immensive skills again and developed and gave me the code to disable the loading of AI paths so patching the game can be removed from the software now. Also, he created functions to start a Race from the software so the Server can tell the Clients to start a specific Race. All credits go to Grappigegovert for his massive research and developing. Added 20/10/2014: Due to school, I have not been developing actively on the online functionality again, but Grappigegovert and me made some nice improvement with the API. This API will be released in the open source (near) future and will give developers the opportunity to create mods very easy. Added 27/10/2014: Due to school, I have not been developing actively again. The good news is, the software is now fully compatible with TCP and UDP, more structured and the API has been put into a seperate project which will result in a release of the public API soon. This API will be discussed in another thread that I will make in the near future. Please note that the project is not dead and I am still developing, but unfortunately due to school I just do not have much time for this great project. Added 05/11/2014: Good news. Last week I was able to develop more actively on the software, which resulted in the possibility to start races from the Server, which brings us a step closer to the release! I will create a new video of the current progress in the near future. Also, the API is getting prepared for a release with the last bug fixes and comments above the functions. Stay tuned! Added 16/11/2014: I am currently facing problems with the starting of the game client and additional events regarding to the API. I am still not satisfied with the way the API currently works. These problems must be solved in order to continue with the online functionality. Don't think that this project doesn't gain any progress, it just takes a lot of time. Please note the following things: It's not guaranteed that this mod will be ever online for public since this project has still needs many, many development hours; The Server and Client are both only in alpha stage at this moment. We are working really hard to create something that just works and anyone would understand; It is very hard to find all the addresses and the correct pointers, so this takes a lot of time; Currently our main goal is to make everything work on a basic game copy. This means that mods are NOT SUPPORTED (YET) and will likely crash the game when used! On the bright side: We currently do have something that works and we are working so hard to make it possible for everyone to enjoy this with us. It was our dream for many years and finally we took the step to actually create something, and not just for ourselves but for everyone who just loves LEGO Racers. I will keep you guys regularly informed. Make sure you check this post at least once a week as the project is under heavy development. Special thanks: We would like to thank Grappigegovert for his great help which resulted in massive improvement of the software. Thanks to this guy, a lot of things are now working (like using Power-Ups). Videos: The following videos show a demonstration of the system in action:

    LEGO Racers Online

I took a look at it today, and I think the best option would be to delete all RRB files (AI paths). The needed address pointers are in this cheatengine file: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/30638624/LEGORacers.CT Only AI 1 and 2 are included, but you can easily add the rest by adding 4 to the 3rd offset in each pointer. Also, DRM and NO-DRM versions have different memory addresses.

LEGO Racers Instructions & Part Lists

After building most of the LEGO Racers myself, and receiving a couple of requests for part lists for them, I've put together both Bricklink-compatible part lists and PDF building instructions. This way, you don't have to search through Bricklink for hours (as I unfortunately did) to find all the parts, and can build them with proper step-by-step instructions. Downloads Part Lists Instructions Both are organised into circuits, with notes and ammendments where necessary - LDraw doesn't have all the parts in their library required to build these models so I had to use replacements. Also, the parts lists are both in XML form and Brickstore files, which I used to make them, so if you have Brickstore you can open the originals in that. How To Upload Parts To upload the parts lists to Bricklink and make a wish list, do the following. 1) Log in to Bricklink. 2) Click the Wanted tab on the main nav bar. 3) Under Manage My Wanted List, click Upload. 4) Open the XML file of the circuit you wish to add, copy all of its contents, and paste them into the text box. Then click Verify Items. 5) Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click Upload File. 6) Done! The parts should now be uploaded to your main wanted list. How To Purchase Parts To purchase parts from your wanted list in as few orders as possible, do the following. 1) Click the Wanted tab on the main nav bar. 2) Click the By Shop tab on the sub nav bar. 3) Choose 'My Main Wanted List' from the first dropdown box, and sort by 'Lots (Unique)'. Click Go!. 4) Bricklink will then find the seller with the most parts in your wanted list for sale. The higher the number in brackets, the more parts they have. For instance, Circuit 7 contains 100 unique lots, so a listing of 70 or greater is good, however be aware that some sellers may charge more for your parts than others. 5) Go on to purchase your parts as normal. Enjoy!

  14. Ever get annoyed by the fact when you arrive at school you either; "Accidentally" brought butter or forgot the ham and cheese then there is a way you can still make the next best thing (well, 'next best thing' for some people); Toast! Here is the easiest way to make toast during school time, wether its lunchtime or that you happen to be in a science classroom at time of realisation; 1. Find a science classroom (unless you already are in one), chemistry will do. 2. Locate the nearest bunsen burner. 3. Set up the bunsen burner as necessary and then grab one of those metal things which hold up the Test tubes. 4. Clamp the toast to the bit on the metal thing which grabs the test tube. 5. Switch on the bunsen burner and begin rotating the toast so all sides are toasted. 6. Oh fudge! The Toast burned up into a crispy black square. Lucky you have an extra slice of bread. 7. Set up again, but remember to put the Bunsen Burner on a low flame when you turn it on. 8. Begin rotating the toast again 9. SUCCESS! The toast is ready to have butter applied! 10. Take the toast off the metal grip thing on the other metal thing. 11. Run to the cafeteria and steal a small knife (they have LOADS of the things anyway) but if they are closed at the mo' then run to the Art Department and take a Craft Knife instead. 12. Open the cartridge of butter 13. Spread the butter onto the toast using the small knife/Craft Knife. 14. Your toast is done! 15. Realise that your Science teacher is glancing over at you. And my doesn't he/she look stern.

    Warhammer 40,000

When I first joined this forum, I remember there were a few fans of Warhammer 40k. I used to be a part of a large dedicated Warhammer 40k forum, but it was just filled hourly with rants about Games Workshop (the company that produces W40K), so if there are any members here who enjoy it then I guess maybe some more 'mature' discussions could be had. Also, I found it difficult to post pictures of my models on dedicated forums as there were so many top-notch quality painters out there, and often the only advice newbies would get was the classic 'THIN YOUR PAINTS'. I guess I'll start with a picture of the latest models I've been painting, some new Eldar troops of Ulthwé. This is what I have so far - it's not much, but I somehow manage to spend 2-4 hours on each one, so it's taken a while! The Wraithguard feature a little freehand work, as each one in the squad will have a part of the Ulthwé symbol on its face (and also the symbol of the Wraithguard on their cloths). The detailing isn't so clear in that image, so here's another I took about a year ago when I first painted the farseer: I paint the black colour differently to the conventional black-and-highlight, using some method I found online (but can't remember where). The model is basecoated black, then layered with dark grey, highlighted with a lighter grey and drybrushed with a near-white at the lightest points, before finally being washed down in black to darken all the colours. It gives a nice weathered effect, too.

    Images Of Minifig-Scale Minecraft Sets

Hmmm... Those first two images didn't really grab me, but the other box sets are actually quite nice. I just don't like the Steve minifigure. However, it wasn't long after I looked at these sets before I thought... Kids buy LEGO sets of franchises to take part in those franchises themselves, or to build stuff with them related to the franchises. Example: You'd buy a Star Wars set to experience the action yourself, and also to build your own space ships. Yet Minecraft is a game, hence you already play it, and is an infinite sandbox building game, so... Is there really any need for it to be reproduced in plastic with little dots on top?

    Chief's Command Vehicle

Awesome work JimbobJeffers, this MOC fits perfectly in the Rock Raiders theme. You mixed the colors just like the real ones and there is absolutely nothing* I could think of to be improved! It might be too bulky to navigate through the caves but still it is a real RR set! I would love to see more details on how it is built! I especially love the way the twin drills are mounted and I love the 'engine' that looks like a part of the teleporting system aboard the LMS Explorer. As a pure Rock Raiders fan I can feel its power by just staring at the screen - and there is hardly anything apart from the real RR sets that gave me the same feeling. *I would only recommend you to turn all the black RR logo plates so that the drill's heads face the front. I just don't like them going into various directions... never liked that

    LEGO Racers Backgrounds

After building all the LEGO Racers characters in LDraw to make building instructions, I thought I might as well render them too to make some nice backgrounds, just like my Rock Raiders pack. These were rendered in from LDraw rather than LDD, however, so the quality is a little worse, but it shouldn't be particularly noticeable. Preview Download LEGO Racers Renders These are all 1080p. Unfortunately, LDraw doesn't have all the parts and decals that LEGO Racers uses... This means some figures are not included. I have edited some of them to add the correct decals in (I had to use Paint.NET rather than PhotoShop as I was on holiday, so it may not be great), and may eventually do the rest at some point too. But most of the favourites are here.

    LEGO Racers Online

I've been withholding from posting on this, but I think it is now time. I will admit, upon first seeing this topic, I was a bit skeptical. I linked this topic to Will, and he gave a theory as to how this might be happening. Sure enough, the next time Hoithebest came on, he said exactly what Will theorized. From that, and watching the conversations, I could tell this was a real, albeit early, project. When Hoithebest released the video showing it off, I could tell it was real, no question about it. How do I know? Because even though Rob has done a fantastic job of learning about the binary format that controls the AI path, and we have a visualizer for it, we do not have a tool to record AI paths. Further more, the movements Redbeard made, those are not possible in LEGO Racers. He was making turns on a dime and flying all around that area. Such turns and speed are simply not possible to perform in-game. And since we do not have a tool to visually record AI paths, the only way for Hoithebest to have faked this was to spend a super long time manually writing all those coordinates, and even then, I doubt it would come out the same way as shown in the video. That video clearly demonstrates the all pointers for the racer have not yet been found, and because many are still missing the player moves in erratic motions. This is clearly a real modding project Hoithebest and his brother is undertaking, no question about it. Almogzxp, it would appear you and maybe a few others are the only ones who really think it is fake. Yes, I get your being cautious because of past experiences, but have you noticed how many times Cyrem, the founder of this forum, the guy who wrote the book on LEGO Rock Raiders modding, the guy who has also been instrumental in other game's modding, do you really think he would be posting on here saying this is a real project unless he thought it was real? Cyrem has done a lot of modding over the years. I think it would be safe to say (yes, I know we are all human and make mistakes, but aside that) that if Cyrem, though all his wisdom and experience in modding, says this is a real project, then we can believe him and Hoithebest. I'm inclined to agree that a client/server UI can be faked more than this video, especially given the movements Redbeard made. If it came down to it, and I hope it does not, I would second Xiron's idea for Hoithebest to send a copy to Cyrem or one of the staff. The staff are in that position for a reason, because they are trusted, trusted to keep the peace on this site, to remove any spambots, to be a guarding eye. Any report that came from them about this project, I'd be inclined to trust that. If I did not, then I might have trust issues. As for Hoithebest "just joining to post this", might I remind you this has happened before, that someone joined and made a first post about something modding related. "Joining and making this their first post" is no reason to immediately disqualify anyone. Almogzxp, I'm not trying to hurt you, I'm trying to help you see this is not a fake project. I'm also not one to be excited at the first Bionicle 2015 modding project I see, especially one as ambitious as this one. Even now, I am still not "getting my hopes up", but I am very interested in seeing this project succeed. Being wary of things is fine, all of us should be that way, but when our skepticism gets in the way of seeing what other are saying and the significance of it, then trouble can occur. @Hoithebest, I know you may be a bit unsure of this project right now, but go right ahead and work on it. Don't let anything bother you. You have the support of some of the most respected, trusted and experienced members here. You could not ask for anything better than that. I've seen your discussion, and you clearly know what you are doing. Keep doing it, and don't let skepticism get you down. Remember, there will always be people like that. I sure there were people who thought it was impossible for man to go to the moon. Look what happened. :)

    LEGO Racers Online

According to Wiktionary, capability is "the power or ability to generate an outcome." If we are not able to do anything like it right now, then we lack the ability to generate that outcome. But I digress. My point was that, even if we are not currently capable of such a feat (and I rather think that we may be capable,) we are still close to being capable. So it is not implausible that Hoithebest and co. are slightly ahead of previous efforts in the LR modding department. True, but I was referring to something as basic as Cartesian coordinates and physical rotation. Those elements won't really differ between the two games. All you need to know is their location in memory. But all that you need to produce are the outer trappings of a client and server. All you need is an interface that will produce a semblance of functionality. A person viewing a video of such a thing would not be privy to its internal workings, only to something which says "connected to server," etc. If Hoithebest claimed that he was working on something extremely ambitious and unheard of (e.g. custom maps) I would be skeptical, but what he is proposing is something quite simple in essence which seems very plausible, given the work of grappigegovert, RobExplorien, etc. Also, it is worth noting that something being unfeasible does not mean that everyone is aware that it is. Take all the LEGO Universe spiritual successor projects that are bandied about. Almost all, from my experience, are doomed to failure, and yet people still earnestly try to produce them. As for Hoithebest posting here, I don't see what's so unusual about that. He is, as he has said, seeking help, and is also no doubt looking for a focus group. People do that all the time. I don't see what's so suspicious about wanting to impress your target audience. The display of an interface that is too crude can be discouraging to people, since they see it as reflective of its creator's standards.
