The Infomaniac's Intro Speech
Sommanker and 3 others reacted to mumboking for a topic
I'm sorry, but it just bugs me when people repeatedly quote the Infomaniac's intro speech incorrectly... Here's what it should be (Punctuation may not be right, but the words are...): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOUetK_8H6kSkip to 2:06 But you probably already knew that. In fact, I know you do! So why am I telling you!? Alternate ending to this post:4 points -

atdstrings - ATD strings converter
Jimbob reacted to JrMasterModelBuilder for a topic
atdstrings - ATD strings converter Converts the binary strings files found in LEGO Racers 2 and LEGO Drome Racers to and from their binary formats. Downloads Windows Mac GitHub Repo Usage On Windows, you can simple drag-and-drop the file you want to convert onto the "atdstrings.exe" file. On other platforms run "/path/to/atdstrings FILE_PATH" by the command line. Note, if the file you are trying to convert to already exists, it will not overwrite it. You wil need to move/delete the file out of the way manually before converting (when run by drag-and-drop, you won't see any notification of this). Notes The best encoding to open the text files using seems to be either "Western (Windows Latin 1)" or "Western (ISO Latin 1)". If some of the non-English characters look funny, this is the encoding your text editor should use. The ATD strings format allows for single-byte characters and two-byte characters. Two-byte characters are represented in hex in the text format, escaped with the pipe symbol ("|") on either side. For example, the multi-byte character "0xABCD" would appear as "|ABCD|" in the text file. Now you might be thinking, "How can I enter the pipe character?". Oh ye of little faith. Although the game does not use the pipe symbol anywhere (though it appears to be is in the LDR font), you can escape the "|" with another "|". So a single "|" in the binary format would be "||" in the text format. I'm not sure anymore what the multi-byte characters in LR2 and LDR are, but the Swedish LR2 and French LDR strings files have them. P.S. I haven't actually tried MOD-ing in-game text, but it does convert the game's binary files to text and back to binary perfectly, with the files being 100% identical. Let me know if you have any trouble. P.P.S Sorry this took me so long, but this was a low-priority project for me and the encoding issue was tougher that I originally thought.1 point -
How To Replace Character Builder Parts With Any Other Character Parts (Play As Any Character)
pedroj234 reacted to Fluffy Cupcake for a topic
Note: This works for only players, trying to replace NPCs this way will not work (oddly, no change will happen to them). First, make sure you have your files extracted or you won't be able to find them. Locate the following files: GAME DATA/CHARACTERS/BODIES/LEGS.TXT GAME DATA/CHARACTERS/BODIES/TORSO.TXT GAME DATA/CHARACTERS/HEADS/HEADS.TXT GAME DATA/CHARACTERS/HEADS/FACES.TXT In all these files the last 8 entries are the ones that will appear in the character builder, and the files already have a list of all valid characters parts, so you just swap (not replace) out the last 8 entries with the character parts you want to show in the builder! The only exception is FACES, each character has eight expressions, so one character is worth 8 lines, still the same swapping out process nevertheless. It is also important to note in HEADS the last 10 entries in the file NEED to have "store" at the end. Adding additional "store"s does nothing, removing crashes the game, only the last 8 show in the character builder. If you want to change the icons in the character builder go here: GAME DATA/FRONTEND/BODY PARTS If you want to change the icons for the characters you need to look here: GAME DATA/HUD/TEXT BOX FACES Grab a empty slate for them here.1 point -
The unnessessary blog post about how to make toast in secondary school/high school
STUDZ reacted to Ben24x7 for a blog entry
Ever get annoyed by the fact when you arrive at school you either; "Accidentally" brought butter or forgot the ham and cheese then there is a way you can still make the next best thing (well, 'next best thing' for some people); Toast! Here is the easiest way to make toast during school time, wether its lunchtime or that you happen to be in a science classroom at time of realisation; 1. Find a science classroom (unless you already are in one), chemistry will do. 2. Locate the nearest bunsen burner. 3. Set up the bunsen burner as necessary and then grab one of those metal things which hold up the Test tubes. 4. Clamp the toast to the bit on the metal thing which grabs the test tube. 5. Switch on the bunsen burner and begin rotating the toast so all sides are toasted. 6. Oh fudge! The Toast burned up into a crispy black square. Lucky you have an extra slice of bread. 7. Set up again, but remember to put the Bunsen Burner on a low flame when you turn it on. 8. Begin rotating the toast again 9. SUCCESS! The toast is ready to have butter applied! 10. Take the toast off the metal grip thing on the other metal thing. 11. Run to the cafeteria and steal a small knife (they have LOADS of the things anyway) but if they are closed at the mo' then run to the Art Department and take a Craft Knife instead. 12. Open the cartridge of butter 13. Spread the butter onto the toast using the small knife/Craft Knife. 14. Your toast is done! 15. Realise that your Science teacher is glancing over at you. And my doesn't he/she look stern.1 point -

Wonderful new videos. I can't get over how unapologetically silly everything is in the presentation. That trailer for the virtual reality simulator is just flat-out ridiculous, in the best of ways. And David Legoman just signs off the show by singing "Go, go, go go lego" to himself like no one thinks its wierd when you sing to yourself on live television. Also, it looks like the falling bricks intro we all know from the LEGO games was originally animated by the LEGO Wizards, as opposed to Mindscape or anyone else (as might have made sense considering its first official appearance was in LEGO Island). And Kjeld doesn't seem to have a solid response in mind when he is asked why LEGO is bothering to do all of this in the first place. I guess that is a bit of a foreshadowing of the company's misdirection of their energies with this project in the years to follow (though of course everything came out well in the end).1 point -

Thanks for your support and great comments. I've been developing for hours today and the game will now be patched automatically. I can also confirm that all the cars (except one, this one comes tomorrow - it was a long day) can be driven by the software now. Please remember that we're still in a very early stage of development. Besides the missing features, it still contains a lot of bugs. It's gonna be a problem to work with Power-Ups too for sure. But I'm doing all I can to make this project a success so everyone can enjoy this! @KevinVG207: ik snap 'm. (this is Dutch)1 point -
Images Of Minifig-Scale Minecraft Sets
Seaborgium reacted to STUDZ for a topic
A while back, we got a teaser for minifigure-scaled Minecraft sets, and a while before that it was pretty much implied it was going to happen. Today, thethreevirtues uploaded a video with images of two sets in it. (These are the same guys who released the "leaked" BIONICLE 2015 images, which I refuse to post a proper news report on until we get some clear, official, highish-res images. Or at least 101% confirmation from TLG) The video will be posted below for your enjoyment and speculation. The two sets will be 21113 The Cave, and 21114 The Farm. Where TTV got the set numbers and names from remains to be seen. [EDIT: The names and model numbers came from a website called Hamley's in the UK. I apologize for the assumption.] So what do you guys think of these sets? Is LEGO going too far with the Minecraft theme, or should they keep going? Post your opinions below! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBQoUGDYOIo Sources: http://brickset.com/article/12057/images-of-minifig-scale-minecraft-sets1 point -

Hmmm... Those first two images didn't really grab me, but the other box sets are actually quite nice. I just don't like the Steve minifigure. However, it wasn't long after I looked at these sets before I thought... Kids buy LEGO sets of franchises to take part in those franchises themselves, or to build stuff with them related to the franchises. Example: You'd buy a Star Wars set to experience the action yourself, and also to build your own space ships. Yet Minecraft is a game, hence you already play it, and is an infinite sandbox building game, so... Is there really any need for it to be reproduced in plastic with little dots on top?1 point -

I'm apologize for re-awakening a dead topic, but I recently came across something which is very much relevant to this topic and which I thought you guys would be quite interested in. While doing some research on the Darwin project, I noticed that in the corner of one if the shots, there was a "SZM Studios" watermark. Following up on that, I was able to cone across this which was posted by one of the workers on the Darwin project. https://r2---sn-ab5l6n7k.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?requiressl=yes&shardbypass=yes&cmbypass=yes&id=b994e82fa85632d7&itag=18&source=picasa&ip=71.192.10.57&ipbits=0&expire=1412363194&sparams=cmbypass,expire,id,ip,ipbits,itag,mm,ms,mv,requiressl,shardbypass,source&signature=2C91F891810F381D7512BE91F016079FBC16DAFE.28B1B263EB2059A4A3888CC863511390EE4B50B9&key=cms1&cms_redirect=yes&mm=30&ms=nxu&mt=1409771164&mv=m (Sorry for the long link)1 point -

YESYESYESYESYESYESYESYES! Great job JrMasterModelBuilder! This will be quite handy. Also, I just tested it in game, made the MPH text longer than it was before, it works like a charm. The only problem I really have is that if another file exists in the folder already, it won't save over it. Now I can get finished on my next part in my LR2 tutorial series. Edit: For anyone wondering about changing the default "1UP" text. You can go ONE character over the limit of what you can usually enter before the game will crash. Edit 2: Weee, random text editing:1 point -

Axel's Mod 1.5 (Updated, 4/10/2015)
Lair reacted to Axel for a topic
NEW POWER PATHS, MODIFIED ICE-ROCK BIOME Basically, the power paths that the Rock Raiders tend to avoid standing on for too long have been modified to look like you're not supposed to stand there. In addition, any power path completely surrounded by other power paths will now be square. The IceRock biome now has a different floor texture, as well. I'm thinking of modifying the standard Ice biome slightly. And if you noticed, I'm using high-poly Rock Raiders now. The low-poly ones comparatively look terrible. And though it is not visible in this image, I've changed the color of energy crystals slightly to better match their color in the videos and Lego sets.1 point -
