LEGO Creator Harry Potter CoS Model Viewing (Maybe More)
le717 and one other reacted to lol username for a topic
It's 3something AM and I haven't really explored all of this myself so here's a link and some screenshots. I trust you can figure it out. http://web.archive.org/web/20041228201034/http://qdn.qubesoft.com/index.php?main=downloads That page now 404s, hence the web archives, though the downloads themselves still seem to be up on Qube's site as well. I've only tried 1.1 stuff so far. QStudio just hangs when I try to launch it but the model viewer works mostly fine (except for crashing on chars.q, maybe others I haven't tried). There's other stuff, like Max and Maya export scripts for the Q format I think, but I haven't toyed with very much of it. Fun fact, this game and LDD/LU share some DNA: http://www.qubesoft.com/index.php?main=consultancy.html Creator model on the left, LU brick icon on the right. Same brick IDs - both drawn from the same official 3D LEGO library.2 points -
Rock Raiders 2 Main Theme
Rock Monster reacted to Shadowblaze for a blog entry
A couple days ago StewartG asked me to make the main theme for Rock Raiders 2, so I decided to upload it so that everyone can hear it, as a preview. Feedback and suggestions for improvement are very much appreciated. So yeah, I might be making the music for this game. It depends on what Stewart decides. http://youtu.be/2ohQ6J-1rbo1 point -
Rock Raiders 2 Main Theme
StewartG reacted to Shadowblaze for a blog entry
Yeah, maybe naming it Main Theme wasn't a smart idea. I made this thinking about the title music, I named the video like this just because "Main Menu" seemed kinda unattractive. My bad. I already have an idea for the main theme, a funky thing like the first game's one. The music loops, in the video it fades away just because putting the plain file in wouldn't sound very nice to the listener. I think that music should stay one for each level, and maybe change depending on situations such as your oxygen supply being almost finished, or a big swarm of enemies approaching the base. Still, I wanted to make the music more or less tense, or have different feels depending on how the level will be, making the alternatives I mentioned above unnecessary. Sound effects and drones should fix the remaining issues. Also, I have nearly finished two musics already: they are very atmospheric, with lots of melodies and sounds but put in a way that they aren't invasive. That's how I think this game's sountrack should be, energetic but very ambiencey.1 point -

The Lego Movie; Has it lost it's magic?
noghiri reacted to Ben24x7 for a blog entry
This Blog post is about two of my recent thoughts on TLM. Do note that if you haven't seen TLM (which, I would be surprised if you didn't) then be careful, because THE FOLLOWING CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR TLM. So, with that noted, here are my thoughts: I think TLM has began to become a bore. People have seen it around once or twice (maybe even three times if you have any siblings wanting to watch it for the second or third time only to notice when the Movie ends that there is a skeleton wearing your clothes sitting where you sat before the movie) and all the suspense (what the story will be, what sets will come out, etc) has kinda washed away. Even with new 2015 TLM sets it still feels like a lame attempt to keep TLM's excitement going, and failing in the process. We all memorised what happens; Emmet is mistaken for The Special when he finds the Piece of Resistance after a normal day of work, He's taken on a wild goose chase to get to the Octan Tower while being chased by Lord Buisness's armies of Robots and eventually Lord Buisness finds his good side, "Everyone is special" moral is explained and then after that the film ends after the arrival of Duplos who 'came tow destrow wou'. I don't even think the second movie will be any good or help with bringing back the excitement that the first brought with it, especially since the movie will take 3 years to work on. Even with the possible addition of Johnny Thunder and a better Gender balance between characters I still feel the second film will not be worth the wait.1 point -

So, after looking back and noticing that some of my recordings were excessively quiet, I realized that there was something dreadfully wrong with my mic. I know nobody requested a change, but given that we're still waiting for people to submit their lines, I thought I'd take the time to redo some of mine, and I think you'll find that they sound much better. I'm still going through and re-recording these, but for now, a bit of a preview, so you can understand the difference: Never really noticed how occluded the originals sounded until I had tried redoing a couple. (Also, I don't think I can embed these here, RRU doesn't support iframe tags...)1 point -
The Vending Machine

You get a stampede of Minecraft's fanbase breaking down the front of the vending machine and running you into the floor. *Inserts Green and Red Lego 2x4s, but can't because the vending machine's front has been broken off*1 point -

still have my copy of this by the same author lying around. 6/10. left a lot out, the minifigs looked pretty bad (as you can see by the cover), and the backgrounds were pretty subpar.1 point -
The Lego Movie; Has it lost it's magic?
Jimbob reacted to emily for a blog entry
Different strokes for different folks. I've got a bunch of LEGO Movie stuff sitting in front of my face nearly all day and I haven't gotten bored of the franchise at all. The story really spoke to me and everything about the movie has been extremely endearing. I'm super excited for the new wave of sets and happy to wait out the years to go until the sequel comes along. That's not at all to say that everyone should feel the same way as I do, but I've gotten the impression that a fair number of people are still interested in the movie, ergo there is a market for the new sets and film and what have you. Think in terms of Toy Story 3 (I keep using it as an analogy for this movie, I should probably think of something else). It came out years after the first two films, but still drew in an audience and was by virtually any count a success. The trick isn't to keep people's interest over time, but to renew it when the proper time comes. It's a little early to say whether The LEGO Movie will have the cultural permanence that Toy Story has, but I think it is safe to say it has made a large enough impact to ensure there will be people to renew the interest of in 2017 (it was 2017, right? I don't remember).1 point -
LEGO on the Shelf

Hey folks! Putting your LEGO sets on shelves is totally fun, right? And I'm quite happy with how things turned out when I set up the sets I brought to my college dorm, so I wanted to share some pictures. Sorry for phone photos, but I can't really justify buying a proper camera when all I would ever use it for is pictures of small plastic people. TLM and miscellany Cloud Cuckoo Land Protagonists! Ogel attempts to preempt Where are My Pants with Dr. Cyber falling onto the set and probably shouting about time or something Max is watching Ogel approvingly. Does Johnny notice that Mr. Pollywana appears to be eating his map? Lord Business and the Super Secret Police (apparently caught in a nasty fog) Dropship Micromanager (thanks Lucina on BZP for reverse-engineering the film model and producing and LXF of it) MY PARENTS ARE FROZEEEEN A whole mess of Tohunga Kustom Kahu Cultural gap They're stealing the disc! Robot vs. Dragon smackdown quick shoot arrows at the robot that will probably stop it sneaky sneaky Enchanted Island Detail shot, I guess? Neptune Discovery Lab check out all of the dust on this dome If you're curious, here's my full collection on Brickset.1 point
