BIONICLE RETURNING 2015
Jimbob and 3 others reacted to ProfessorBrickkeeper for a topic
https://www.flickr.com/photos/66138404@N06/ Brigs just linked to these impressive pieces of fan art in the RRU Skype group, but I'm just posting them here to preserve the link. These wallpapers nicely replicate showcase the new Toa animation style while making plenty of references to the classic Bionicle line at the same time. I liked them quite a bit, and figured some of you guys also might.4 points -
My top 5 favorite Shiny Pokemon designs.
Rock Monster and 2 others reacted to Zephyria for a blog entry
So, as some of you are aware, I'm a pretty big fan of Pokemon, having started all the way back in Crystal, and playing almost every Gen mere days after they release. And what's one of the rarest things ever, to a Pokemon fan? Shiny Pokemon, also known as Alternate Colored Pokemon. These monsters have a 1/4096 (1/8192 prior to Generation VI, X and Y) chance of being a different color to their normal pallete, and this is known as Shininess. So what are my personal favorite Shiny Color Palletes? Well, it's time to make a top five, isn't it? 5: Buneary/Lopunny So, shiny Lopunny. I'm not really sure what there is to say here. It's pale tan fuzz becomes a very bright pink, while it's normal fur just darkens ever so slightly. As reference Here is what Buneary looks like normally. 4: Giratina Ah, Giratina, the Renegade Pokemon. The area you live in, the distortion world, is an entire reverse of the nornal Pokemon world. So how fitting is it that your shiny form is also a reversion of your normal color scheme? (Bonus points for the Blue, as Blue is pretty much my favorite color) 3: Porygon-Z Porygon-Z, one of my favorite normal types of all time. You have such a beast Special Attack stat, while your speed stat is such a...almost terrible base 100! Regardless, Porygon-Z has a pretty cool shiny, pretty similar (without the Gold) to Giratina's shiny, while it's default coloration is just plain ol' Blue and Red! 2: Hydreigon You know, despite disliking shiny Espeon so much, I find myself really weirdly compelled by shiny Hydreigon. I'm not sure if it's because I really, REALLY love Hydreigon how it is (probably my second favorite dragon type of all time) or because the purple goes really well with the green, but somehow it just looks...right to me. Unlike Espeon. For reference, here is what normal Hydreigon looks like. 1: Flygon For those of you who have talked Pokemon with me for any amount of time, you all should know that Flygon is pretty much my favorite Pokemon of all time. So, it should only be fair that it gets one of the best shinies of all time, too. In-game, the light blue works so well with the light green of it's skin and works to create something that's pretty much one of the most beautiful things to see in the games. Normal Flygon doesn't look too bad, either. (If you guys want, I can buff this up into a top 10, as well. Just wanted to do a top 5, to see if you guys liked it)3 points -
LEGO Island 2 buildings recreated in LDD
Zed and 2 others reacted to The Brickster for a topic
I've recreated all of the LEGO Island 2 bulidings in LEGO Digital Designer. Some of them are not very accurate because LDD lacks a few pieces. The Information Center and Pepper's house are rendered in POV-Ray.3 points -

Thankies. Before anyone gets major on Ben's back. I did say in the Sbox that it would be nice if someone posted. I was not thinking that kind of post he did though. I think you mean quadruple post though. mumboking picks up ringing phone. Xiron: Hello Mr. mumbo. This is Xiron's Portable Services. Your car is ready. You can come and pick it up at the garage anytime. mumboking: Great! Thanks. I'll be there shortly. Xiron: You're welcome. Thanks for choosing Xiron's Portable Services. You have yourself a great day. *conversation end* This was the longest I ever took for a model. It was ripped from LEGO Racers 2. There was a lot of pieces to apply textures to, and I had to due a bit of a guessing game with some look-a-like materials. I didn't rip it from LI2 because 1) Ninja Ripper doesn't work with it. (No, outdated 3D Ripper DX is not comparable with the program) 2) The msh2obj converter we have doesn't preserve UVW Mapping2 points -

Tutorial: Change the Brick Colors
Quisoves Potoo reacted to CaptainGolem for a topic
Hi. Here is a tutorial how to change the colors of the bricks you use to build a car.I hope it will help someone. 1.Extract your LEGO.JAM using one of the JAM extractors 2.Go to MENUDATA->PIECEDB 3.Now you see some files. You care only about the ones that end with "CSET.LEB".The first 2 or 3 letters are the names of the bosses example: CR_CSET.LEB = Captain Redbeard's car set 4.You open one of the CSET files with Notepad++ and find a color (black, green, ltgray etc.) and replace it with a different color. After you are done save the file. 5.Build a new LEGO.JAM using a JAM extractor 6.Play the game1 point -

What...? Do you mean UV mapping? I don't recall there being anything to do with UVW in LEGO Island 2 (or any retro LEGO game for that matter), and the msh2obj converter preserves UVs just fine. I got multiple versions of the speedster out of LI2 with msh2obj quite easily a few months ago. [Dead Majost Image Link] I didn't bother applying the proper textures to everything as it turned out I didn't need the speedster for what I was doing, but as you can see from the textures I did apply, the UVs are fine and dandy. (Also, the speedster on the left is a single model, the wheels aren't separated for animation. The speedster on the right has the wheels separated, you can see they've ended up at the model's origin since msh2obj doesn't do deal with with animation/separate bits within a model. The textures and UVs are also different - the one on the left mostly uses a single texture for the grill, wheels, etc, the one on the right uses separate textures for pretty much everything. The geometry is also a bit different, the bits on the side of the engine are slanted on the left one, and the whole front of the vehicle is taller on the right one. I think there might be another or more variations of the model, but I didn't look into it too much - as said, it turns out I didn't need the speedster for what I was doing.)1 point -

Classic LEGO Games Ported to Garry's Mod/SFM
Ben24x7 reacted to aidenpons for a topic
Ben and Xiron, I think you misread something in the Global Forum Rules. The edit button exists for a reason, Xiron. It's precisely so that you avoid this sort of thing. I honestly have half a mind to report Ben's posts as Spam. They are off topic and don't even contribute anything, anywhere. I'd accept them if they had even the littlest of feedback, such as "great job Xiron, keep it up." Half a mind? Three-quarters of a mind. [/backseatmoderating] EDIT: Forgot to say that you can't double post anyway. Cyrem stuffed in a little bit of code that just merges the two posts. It still comes up as a new post on the "newest replies" section on the Community Index. As I was discussing with Xiron, I can't really say much on this as it isn't all that relevant to me. What I do want to ask is: How usable are these in-game? Can you drive the car and sail the boat?1 point -

Already knew about the LI2 guy. And... hey! He gave me the source in 10 minutes! @Peabody Sam; Thanks. Knew about them ages ago, and I've already looked in partially in-depth about porting maps, so I know quite a bit already what can and can't be done. @LUModder; Okay, I'll check it out! Yeah... I know I said I'll hold on to it for a bit until I get more, but heck, I'll just post it now, making it available to everyone. https://www.dropbox.com/s/rner7vl69q6iyfs/Torq%20Racer%20(Gmod).zip?dl=0 Also, I fixed the low texture quality. Okay guys admit it, you never could get enough of throwing pizzas at people. Someone needs to take this model and make a throwing pizza weapon out of it. Edit: Well, it's a start, but at the current stage it won't go far. As you can see textures like the arrow and stripes have no mapping done, and this took quite a while just to get all the textures right alone. I used Karsie's HP model for this. I tried to export this trying both .obj and .3ds for usage in 3ds Max because I'm more familiar with it... but for some reason Max just hates exporting these files as SMD and crashes every time.1 point -

Tutorial: Setting Up/Installing a LEGO Racers Mod
RocketRacer123 reacted to Jimbob for a topic
As well as trying mumboking's suggestion (a quick tutorial on that >here), did you try using the default unmodified JAM file? If I were you, I'd install a new clean installation of LEGO Racers (so, actually put the disc in the drive and set it to install again) somewhere on your desktop or in your documents. Run that and see if it works. If it does, follow mumboking's suggestion above, and check if it works before modding it. If you get that far, then try installing a mod, but don't recompile your JAM archive as you won't need to.1 point -
