Cafeteria 1.0 BETA 7 - Launcher & Mod Loader for LRR
Crystalyzer and 5 others reacted to Cyrem for a topic
New Version 0.8! Ok so it's been a while since the last version and I've had to come back and regather where I was, so I'm a little unsure about 0.8. Changes: - You can now start in Windowed mode ( requires your display still be 16bit) - Cafeteria should request Admin privileges on start, this is to avoid rights problems. - Debug param setting was removed because I found it doesn't work ATM with windowed mode on some computers. (You can still do this VIA CFG) - "No Menu Animations" does what it means now. - Added No FLIC Animation param. - Removed copy protected/not copy protected switch, I hopefully don't need this anymore. - Removed 'Apply Res Only' button, not really needed if the next point works as intended. - Cafeteria will wait until the Mode Selection screen appears before applying resolution instead of guessing, this should mean the window may only appear for a moment now instead of a few seconds. Download in OP. Hopefully it works.6 points -
IXS CE Hacks; Increased Viewing Distance
emily and one other reacted to Fluffy Cupcake for a topic
Thanks to a talk and idea from jamesster, I've managed to increase the viewing distance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49BL3qr3IOM It sucks because the water is a plane that follows you, so when you view past the size of the water's object, you see things in white space.2 points -
Small Transport Truck
Jimbob and one other reacted to alan for a topic
I recently went through several files because I was looking for the files in which the chassis are saved (by now I know it). I also went through CHASSIS.CMB in MENUDATAPIECEDB and found some interesting things (though it wasn't enough so that a documentation would have been necessary). For example you can change the player's and the opponents seat position. Example: k_27 "rrchas0" //Rocket Racer's chassis { k_28 { k_35 "rrjmw" k_34 "rrjmw" k_36 "rrjmw" k_37 "rrjmw" k_38 "rrjmw" } k_2B //This is the interesting part for you. The seat position (float)0.000084 // when increased, the driver will sit more at the front (float)0.013271 //when increased, the driver will sit more left (float)0.805 //when increased, the driver sits higher k_2C (float)2500 k_2A (float)-1 (float)0 (float)-0.5 k_2F (float)0.96 k_2D (float)4 (float)10.89 k_2E (float)8 (float)9 k_30 { (float)1.2 (float)1.2 (float)3.482084 (float)-2.681895 (float)0 (float)3.482084 (float)2.708729 (float)0 (float)-3.490916 (float)-2.681895 (float)0 (float)-3.490916 (float)2.708729 (float)0 } k_31 { (float)1.5432 (float)-1.9889 (float)0 (float)1.5432 (float)1.9889 (float)0 (float)-1.4383 (float)-1.9889 (float)0 (float)-1.4383 (float)1.9889 (float)0 } k_32 0 k_33 0 } I hope this will make it easier for you2 points -
LEGO Island Ripper Tool by Supper
LegoLoco7 reacted to Mr. Eight-Three-One for a topic
I'm not sure if this is redundant compared to this, but considering we haven't made a whole lot of progress since that posting, I figured I might as well bring this up here. You all remember Supper, right? If not, he was the one who uploaded this video. It naturally got a lot of attention but he was surprisingly quiet about it despite all the comments y'all bombarded that video with. Turns out this was the result of a little extracting tool he hacked together. After being impressed with his work on his Humongous Entertainment rippers, I thought I'd ask him how he got it. His response: Here we are nearly two weeks later, and here it is. It's not quite as nice as the Riff tool as it doesn't rip files by their actual names, but I thought you would want a look at it anyway. He's included the source code (this one is coded in C instead of Python) so I thought that would be a help as well. This works as a command line -- you simply stick whatever SI file you want in the same folder as the exe, and run it as "lierip [filename].si". For a list of parameters, simply type "lierip". Thus far, it only rips sounds, videos, and bitmaps. Again, I don't know how much further it gets us, but I thought you would at least like to give it a try. Don't expect anything great -- again, he outright admitted he didn't spend much time on this, but seeing how the source code is included, maybe someone else could pick up the project and push it a little further. DC Superheroes Textures
RocketRacer123 reacted to Jimbob for a topic
Inspired by AcePilot90's Basil the bat...MAN?! (I hope you don't mind!), and using decals found at LEGO Superheroes and MORE!!!, I have created textures for some of the main DC characters. To add them to your game (assuming the JAM file has been extracted), extract the file and copy all the bitmap images it contains into GAMEDATACOMMON and MENUDATAPARTDB. Enjoy! I have some screenshots in the spoiler below.1 point -
AI Racers - Strongest, Weakest, favourite and least favourite...
Rock Monster reacted to Creator for a topic
Well, as most of you probably know by now, AI opponents in Lego Racers are kind of my thing. So, yeah, I'm just interested in hearing your opinion on those guys. My personal opinion: Strongest: Gypsy Moth - High speed, good paths, 95% turbo start ratio, fast power-up activation Weakest: Commander Cold - Slow, path ignores most useful power-ups, hesitates before activating bricks - in fact, I never saw win a race. Pharaoh's Mummy, Alpha Dragonis and Achu have each at least one track they're good at (though not necessarily the one that fits their theme) Second Weakest: Gail Storm Favourite: Basil the Batlord, because his car looks cool and the Alpha Dragonis voice fits him really well, for some reason, and Pharaoh's Mummy, because that one's cute and has a scorpion on its hood. Least Favourite: Baron von Barron, because he usually wins simply by virtue of possessing stronger rubber-banding than anyone else, even without activating any power-ups. Also Captain Redbeard for spamming Cannon Ball. So, yeah, those are my thoughts. What are yours?1 point -
Dragonball Z/Dragonball Live action Web series
Aokpisz reacted to The Ace Railgun for a topic
Anyone remember that piece of S*** known as Dragonball: Evolution? Well we're apparently getting a Live Action web series that actually follows the storyline of Dragonball/Dragonball Z from a group called RobotUnderdog. Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCblFrD_cjM It looks pretty epic so far, so I hope they can keep up the quality.1 point -

Tutorial: 3D Modelling
Quisoves Potoo reacted to Jimbob for a topic
I used LDU (LDraw Units) to get an idea of how the width of a stud relates to the height of a plate, and hence a brick. Then I kept adjusting a block in-game until its width fitted perfectly to an in-game car's brick width, and used that to decide the stud width. Then I just converted that to height using LDU. I said it was approximate though, although it seems to look alright on my STT.1 point -
Installing LEGO Racers In Windows 7
Rock Monster reacted to Cyrem for a topic
As far as I'm aware, most people don't have problems running Racers on W7, it's a little more forgiving then say LRR which will crash for every reason conceivable. There's just a few oddities that appear every now and then.1 point -

Classic LEGO Games Ported to Garry's Mod/SFM

I saw someone post a LEGO Island 2 map and a LEGO map partially inspired by LI2, I guess that was you, anyways, good stuff, and I have a suggestion, since you cannot do ragdolls just yet, you should instead do separate models of minifigs (props) doing different poses like o/ /| / and o/ | / or something like that.1 point -

The New LEGO Club
Rock Monster reacted to emily for a topic
So the LEGO Club site just underwent a much-needed overhaul. Check it out. The previous version was modern enough, but it reflected the unfortunate trend in LEGO Club content towards directing you to LEGO products and not much else. Like, obviously, the LEGO Club will always and forever be a glorified advertisement, but 2006 onward the non-Brickmaster Club has been, if I may make a sweeping judgement, extremely bare-bones. Another way to get a look at LEGO sets, no fun in it. It's done its job, but it doesn't hold much interest if you're an teen or adult fan looking for unique content (exceptions like the Adventures of Max excluded). But this new website has a lot going on. The core of it seems to be interactive missions, in a vein somewhat similar to MLN. I've yet to delve too deep into things, but I'd like to think this is a good sign that the Club is getting back toward generating some engaging new content. So, take a look and discuss! EDIT: Thoughts now that I've looked at it a little more: Not as much as I was hoping for, definitely not on the scale of MLN, or even really much like it at all. Just multiple-choice quizzes, and only a few at that. Maybe they'll build on this foundation in the months to come.1 point -

LEGO Racers HD (mod project, WIP)
Fasamanda reacted to Jimbob for a topic
Ah, I just realised there is no tutorial for it. I may write one soon Anyway, for now PatchIt! is probably the easiest method, but this mod doesn't use it. For this reason you will need to extract the .JAM file in your game directory using this tool, then merge the mod folders with the extracted game folders, and finally recompile the folders with the same tool.1 point
