So this isn't really a Tool as such, rather a code library upon which tools can be built. If you're a C# programmer, this is a goldmine for you It's still very work-in-progress but it's largely functional and I've used it in several tools. https://bitbucket.org/WillKirkby/liblr1/src6 points

Thought on Animal and Human DNA exchanging
Seaborgium and 3 others reacted to noghiri for a blog entry
It was only recently discovered that brain cells aren't just present in the brain, but all over the body too. When people have organ donations from others, they sometimes experience weird changes in behaviour. This is now known to be a result of those brain cells being found everywhere rather than just the brain. So, it stands to reason then that mixing a human with an animal will produce similar issues. Will a person starting oinking if they are given a pig's bladder? I doubt it, in fact I think we've already had organ donations from animals. But still... Not a nice thought. Those occurrences often need a big, fat, [CITATION NEEDED]... at least the ones I've seen. In some cases, it is not reasonable to believe it's not the result of a placebo effect, which can be quite powerful. If you inject someone with something and tell them they should have a raised heart rate and start getting visual distortions soon, they often have those symptoms despite only being injected by saline. We have already had organ donations from animals... sheep and pigs, mostly, iirc. However, Ben appears to be talking about actual recodes of the human genetic code, not transplants of fully formed organs, which is different. We have the technology to make such things as glowing humans (glowing ghouls from Fallout, anyone?), although it's only been done on small test mammals, as well as fish, and has the chance of going bad ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GloFish and http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2002/01/0111_020111genmice.html ). We probably will soon be able to do a lot more than that. However, at the current stage of technology, we'd be modifying at the foetus level and even at the raw genetic material level... not on full grown creatures. To modify full grown creatures, you'd use a highly modified version of HIV to recode things... and you'd still have to wait for cells to die and be replaced with new ones, leading to potentially harmful, deadly, or painful intermediary stages if your modifications are larger than just, say, coding a glow in the dark gene into cancer cells using a highly targeted delivery system. This is also assuming you put in the right code snippet, there's no conflicts, and... the code makes sense... because we don't yet fully understand how the coding affects development. This is also not something you could ever do at home, at least, not for at least 200 years. It would require medical supervision, and a buttload of tests, and it's not like you could just code in so you replace human ears with mouse ears just for the heck of it.4 points -

Honestly, most attempts at changing DNA will result in cancer. You know how when you write a program, sometimes it won't work the first time? Well you can just keep trying. When you rewrite biological code, the "syntax error" is tumors and cancers. So if at first you don't succeed, you die a slow, cancerous death.4 points -

It looks like I managed it. This is the test track. The red triangles are the ones with vertices at the end of the previous vertex range. I could handle them also the last time. The blue triangles are the ones that did not work. Now they work. The reference vertices at the beginning or the previous vertex range. I tried to replace the test track with a very huge quad but the game (and the explorer and my pc) crashed. I think I will have to change small things first. FRACT OSC is a music based first person puzzle/adventure game in which you explore a forgotten city reconstructing the city's musical machinery. The main "hub" One of the puzzles (spoiler free) The thing that sets thing game apart is that it's got it's own built in functioning synthesizer, which you can use to make some electronic tunes. The main synth One of the synth controls It's pretty darn easy to just start making music on this thing, and the puzzles are very fun to solve, as you get a sweet tune once you reconstruct the various pieces of machinery.3 points

So I was mucking around with the NULL's in the Pilot.ae, and I thought 'It really annoyed me when you saw these floating arms while driving a truck. Hmmm... *replaces NULL with hptorso* Except... while running, he looked like something from Veggie Tales. Especially because when they run they kind of bounce up and down - their height isn't constant. O.T. I liked the first Veggie Tales; the ones that were played on a VCR; the newer ones just seem to have been taken over by Disney. EDIT: Debug Key 'X'.2 points -

Banana Pananic v1.2.1
Ayliffe reacted to Cyrem for a topic
Banana Pananic Banana Pananic is a mini Andriod mobile arcade game released a couple of days ago about... well, punching bananas and downloading files... and what could be better than that?. It was actually based from an insanity chat with Cirevam and Addictgamer... and by the next day, this game was born. Screenshot: Currently Avaliable For: Andriod - Google Play iOS - Not Yet In-Browser: Not Yet Windows - Download If you do not have access to the Google Play store, you can get the game and install it manually by downloading this file. I would greatly appreciate any feedback/ideas/videos or reviews on the App stores. As far as casual games go, the stores are flooded and it's quite hard to get games noticed unless you're making the 500th flappy bird clone. So it would be great if you could show the game to a friend or something. Thanks. Yes, George does not own furniture and is Mr.Fantastic.1 point -
Avatar - Na'vi
Seaborgium reacted to Jimbob for a topic
I've wanted to do this for a long time now, but it's only five years after the movie's release (and a few before the sequels) that I've had a go. I... I dunno. I'm not really happy with it. A Na'vi averages 10ft tall, so should be just less than twice the height of a human. Can anyone please help me improve upon the model? Note: There shouldn't be any gap between the 1x2 jumper and the body, LDD just won't let me put the technic pieces all the way in.1 point -

Strange Behaviour... The Story of Angel and Tony.
le717 reacted to Jimbob for a topic
I've been casually building my own LOCO village, but discovered these two characters (whom I named Angel and Tony - I guess not your average name, but few people in the village do have normal names), who continuously strive to be with each other at exactly the same spot, disrupting traffic. It's rather odd behaviour so I thought I'd share it with the community - maybe someone can explain it? I've put all the images in spoilers as there are quite a lot: Can anyone explain this behaviour? It was funny at first, but after it's happened two dozen times - literally - it's getting a little annoying. The reason for all the eggs and such is it's April Fools day, so the game is holiday-themed. However, this isn't an April Fools joke, these two minifigures are seriously constantly finding each other.1 point -
MNOLG-Style Animation Series
Ayliffe reacted to emily for a topic
This is my big project. I cannot even begin to describe how much Templar's work on BIONICLE has meant to me, but suffice to say what they created is perhaps my most cherished story. I want to be able to pay homage to Templar, as a way of saying thanks, and this is how I am doing it. These animations are made to complement the ones Templar produced for BIONICLE in 2002. It may not be apparent how they are connected yet, but eventually they will fill in the blanks left by Templar's animations. Templar's work was, of course, perfectly functional as a story, but they covered so much ground in so little time that not everything could be shown. This project is sort of going back and looking at the things skipped over. I'm not completely satisfied with these animations (especially the first one, that one's awful), but I am new to Flash and I've intentionally used this first, three-part arc as a testing ground for my animation abilities. Future installments will have a greater focus on plot and character development. Episode 1 Episode 2 Episode 3 Episode 3.5 I appreciate any and all feedback. Even if you know nothing about BIONICLE, I'd love to know if the animation looks any good. The assets (art and sound) used are taken from Templar's animations.1 point -
