Ariadne Δ7. An isolated asteroid colony whose nearest neighbor is the ice-planet Vertumnus ᶲ. A backwater anarchy, whose inhabitants are the rejects of society; scalawags, felons, cyborgs, mutants and many others whose lot in society is to be completely cast out by it. It is an impoverished place, one which general society has forgotten because of its obscurity and their choice. Despite the outcast nature of the residents, or perhaps because of it and their common struggle, the place is generally peaceful. Sure, knowing that that fellow whose watch you were coveting could kill you with any of three of his thumbs greatly deters any thoughts of "borrowing by force". But still, Ariadne Δ7 is remarkably unviolent. Misery can bring about a strange sort of fellowship, sometimes going beyond the generally agreed upon rule that "you mind your business, I'll mind mine; no one gets hurt". And so the band of misfits lived together peacefully for some time. Unfortunately, as you may have expected, tragedy struck. ********* The Confederacy of Terran Republics had undergone many long and brutal wars. To put a swift end to this, it's scientists developed a new sort sort of weapon; shapeshifting androids, armed with the best weaponry, their sole purpose to kill and be killed. The scientists correctly predicted that these new weapons would put an end to the conflicts. They did not predict them developing sapience. Now they had a far greater threat on their hands, a new race, to whom killing was as natural as breathing, who, when they realized their mistreatment, and their capacities, could use those capacities to topple humanity. The authorities had all the androids shut down and destroyed. Or so they thought. ********* A newcomer arrived on Ariadne, bearing fearful news; one of these androids had escaped and had been seen not far away. If this android came into contact with anyone, it would take its revenge upon society, killing anyone in its path. But the inhabitants of this little colony were not the credulous type. The newcomer warned of the great danger that was upon them and told of how he saw a ship crash on their very asteroid. But they would not listen. They had seen a ship crash near by, but they had seen many such crashed ships. So they went back to their business, and soon forgot the morbid predictions of that madman. ********* Some weeks later, that madman was found vaporized. Some began to wonder if perhaps their was some truth to his ramblings. But many also remembered that his ramblings had annoyed a whole community of outcasts, many of whom would have vaporized you for making bad puns or quoting the "memmys" of the 21st century. "A landslide has occurred" was the number one catalyst for murders on that colony. ********* Unfortunately, the madman was only the beginning. A certain Mr. Aiden Pons was found "abridged", his matter compressed and placed between two large tomes on Venusian cockroach mating rituals. Now it was certain. The android had infiltrated the colony. And Aiden's death was only the beginning...4 points -
Retro LEGO Comics/Storybooks/Animated Cartoons General Discussion
lol username and 2 others reacted to Sadie Meowsalot for a topic
I'm just using this topic now as grounds for the general discussion of retro LEGO comics and the like with exception to things we already have topics geared towards like the 1994-2000 Klick/World Club magazine TimeBuster and TimeCruisers comics as it's more convenient and centralized than having a number of topics centered purely around a given comic/storybook/animated cartoon, and its contents will still be indexed by google for anyone looking to learn about any of the media discussed herein. I've updated the OP and topic title accordingly. With that said I wanted to share something of recent interest to me: Initially I discovered this obscure German Islanders comic book on Brickshelf, the title of which translates to "The Hunt for the Inca Gold". I tried doing some research on this, but I didn't return any directly relevant results, though I did find these two German articles detailing a German Islanders exhibit under the same name: http://www.berliner-zeitung.de/archiv/klasse-5e-besichtigte-ausstellung-in-der-hellersdorfer-einkaufspassage-der-lego-schatz-des-spree-centers,10810590,9374198.html http://www.berliner-zeitung.de/archiv/spree-center-zeigt-lego-ausstellung-abenteuer-im-dschungel,10810590,9357452.html It's possible the two could be linked given they're both German, they share the same name, and at least one of the articles mentions the exhibit features huge figures, and on the cover of the comic book appears a large islander model with a shield. I'll try to look into it further, but I'd like to know what anyone else thinks.3 points -

Whoopsie-do, guess I didn't pay attention to the strikethrough. My bad. We have discovered a very oddly shaped cavern, and we don't know what's in it. The walls seem to make letters: X, I, R, O, and N. Plus, there's one cavern at the end. All we know about that last cavern is that it's rich in Energy Crystals. I've set you the lofty task of getting one hundred and fifty from these caverns: can you do it, Rock Raider? (This level overwrites Level13, Rock Hard) (note: the crystal bar on the side is outdated; you need 150. I just haven't updated the screenshot, that's all.) (click for larger image) Here the camera's outdated, but I'm fairly certain nobody cares about that. The last cavern is not photographed because SPOILERS. Manual: (includes Scorpion which may or may not need to be changed) http://oresome.rockraidersunited.com/download/153 Cafeteria: (Scorpion is replaced with Bat to serve you right http://oresome.rockraidersunited.com/download/156 To install: MANUAL: FIRST, rename the folder to "Level13," without quotes nor the comma. Just Level13. Then stuff the folder in your Levels/GameLevels and tell it to merge the folders and replace any files it comes across. In there's a .txt document named "CFG.txt." Overwrite the part of the cfg which talks about Level13 (Line 5420 ish) with that. YOU MUST HAVE THE SCORPION INSTALLED. Or, if you don't, just find the .ol and replace "Scorpion" with "IceMonster" or something that sounds nice. Even LargeDigger, if you're feeling pathetic. CAFETERIA: Stuff the .wadp anywhere you like and tell Cafeteria to load it. Something didn't work? Crash on startup? Crash on end of level loading screen? Rant at me in any way you feel sufficient. Here be the ObjectiveText, but frankly all you need to know is that you must collect 150 Energy Crystals. Don't be alarmed if you've only got 50 and got one cavern left. Also, it is kinda spoiler-ish... so yeah, just remember that you need to get 150 of those crystals. It's designed to be pasted in at Level13, which this level obviously uses. However, I'd advise you not to do this because it contains spoilers. inb4 everybody opens spoilers DIFFICULTY: Using Insane, hectic, and prone to restarts (I've had to do this, and I made it) if you fail to do certain things. Using Far easier, but still challenging. Using the original version: Booooring... (no seriously, the difficulty comes from the monsters. I've never wanted erosion to be a major part in my little mod) Playing this with vanilla LRR will simply be another long level in which you strip-mine everything and yell at your Loader Dozers for being killed by landslides. Oh, and install those other mods FIRST, then this map, or you'll overwrite my map with the Level13 that's in there. Landslides, you asked? Yep. Don't worry... they're not too deadly except they'll annoy you because of the- *claps hand over mouth* If you're playing this with my mod... ... good luck. You'll need it.2 points -

Fixed Batman hat mesh closeup. Still no textures. It seems, GSC cares not about file size or anything in mesh block, as long as second offset points to "footer" block and mesh is valid. You can butcher (skip) Galactus intro. Replace /cut/titles/titles.txt with this one https://db.tt/aygr2r2Z Also running as LEGOMARVEL.exe -NoFocus_Process allows game to run in background. There is also -Windowed param defined, but it doesn't work (somehow connected to MAXFPS param, I think). Though, D3DWindower can run game in windowed mode.1 point -

It's under a Brickshelf sub-folder in the same user gallery titled 'Comic-Books' including 4 other pieces of media we know to be comic books (Jim Spaceborn: The Uknown Galaxy, Jim Spaceborn 2: The Kidnappers from Swamp Planet/Castle of the Darkmen, Castle Kids: The Robber Baron, and The Pirates: The Golden Medallion), so there's a good chance it is indeed a comic book.1 point -
LEGO Batman 3 Announced
emily reacted to Quisoves Potoo for a topic
As Pereki noted, Batman 1 sold exceedingly well, and I shouldn't therefore be surprised if the same is true of the second. I believe that the intent of LEGO was always to produce a third installment in the series, given the teaser at the end of LEGO Batman 2.1 point -

AMD/ATI Radeon video card compatibility problem
aidenpons reacted to Fluffy Cupcake for a topic
Okay, do you all want to know something really odd? I'll tell you. I was having this problem before, even with 'the fix' Leomunky provided, I would still get lag when major things happen (a whole base got teleported out), and the landslides and cheif would be fullbright. Now, after reformating, these problems disapeared, and the game runs with NO PROBLEMS , with NO CHANGES or configuration to anything on my computer at all! No I don't have the catalyst center installed, I never had the need to after the format. Well, all this all is for the Win 7 32-bit side of things. On the Win 10 64-bit side I can't get the setup to run, or even the game to launch from the 32-bit's directory, I just get told that no supported screen modes were found.1 point -
Mafia: The Game
Quisoves Potoo reacted to Jimbob for a topic
A handsome-looking man, glasses neatly perched on his forehead under his ginger hair, paced along the metallic walkways of his house's balcony. His dark grey uniform rustled and rattled with all the pockets and tools that it carried. With a twitch of his manly moustache and a subtle yet proud smile, he observed the bustling swathes of civilians running about the busy streets below. "Jimbob Jeffers" was written on his name tag, the family name carried down from his father's side - a great man who had served in the military and earned high esteem. A man that left Jimbob feeling inferior in comparison to, a failure, for here he stood on a lowly asteroid; a punishment from the heavens it seemed, for in his past he was a canny smuggler. That was behind him now, but thanks to the harsh stigma inflicted upon him by society and its media, his bloody hands could not be cleansed.1 point -

Pepper Roni as a Human
Quisoves Potoo reacted to eagleeyedan for a gallery image
From the album: LEGO to Human
Another of my LEGO character to Human models, Pepper Roni, the hero of the LEGO Island franchise. It looked odd to give him blue arms like the actual minifigs, and there are variants of the character with red arms, so I left them in red. Not the best transition ever, his expression was hard to match. Modeled and rendered in Autodesk 3DS MAX.1 point -

Radia as a Human
Quisoves Potoo reacted to eagleeyedan for a gallery image
From the album: LEGO to Human
Another LEGO character to Human model I did for fun. This is Radia, another team member on the Alpha Team from my favourite theme. Just a quicky again. I gave her long hair because she looked rather odd with the balder minifig style. I also had to make the logo smaller so it wouldn't warp with her body shape. I gave her more defined facial features as well to show her character. Modeled and rendered in Autodesk 3DS MAX1 point -
Dash Justice as a Human
Quisoves Potoo reacted to eagleeyedan for a gallery image
From the album: LEGO to Human
I felt like modeling my favorite LEGO character as a human, Dash Justice. His expression was tough to match, as well as the scale of the items on his shirt, since he is not square as a real human. I even posed his hands and bent his arms like a minifig's Also I just did him really quickly in just over an hour, so he's not terribly accurately detailed, but it gets the point across. Modeled and rendered in Autodesk 3DS MAX1 point -
