    My (First) Tablet

Earlier this year, my dad agreed to pay half the amount of a tablet of my choice if I pay for the other half. Fast forward a few months and I'm finally getting close to paying my half for a tablet. I decided to choose the NVIDIA Shield. I could buy it now if that's all that I was getting. But since it's a gaming tablet, why not get the controller and cover to go with it? The grand total is $400 ($300 for the tablet, $60 for the controller, and $40 for the cover). My dad's paying for half of the tablet and accessories, as well as the 2 year warranty and the stylus if I ever feel like doodling. I'm really excited about getting this and look forward to using it. The Shield was my first choice for a tablet because it's designed specifically for gaming, and even though I don't PC game that much, it still has a more powerful processor than most tablets, so it'd pretty much replace my laptop for most things (it has a more powerful processor than my laptop too). The screen size is nice, my ideal tablet screen size, and a built-in storage capacity of 16 GB is always nice to have, I'll probably end up giving it a 16 GB micro SD card for extra space. The stand also makes it easier to use for games, watching videos, and listening to music, and the fact that it has a controller to use with it is pretty cool. :)

    The LEGO Movie Franchise

http://www.thebrickfan.com/lego-batman-spinoff-movie-about-if-batman-can-be-happy/ Will Batman ever be able to find true happiness? I like this. Just the premise is out and it's already turning the tropes of the Batman franchise on their head.

  4. I don't get how any reaction is appropriate right now. They're just names! We haven't even seen the sets themselves yet. Objecting to the very idea of a Scooby-Doo theme? I can understand. Objecting to the design of the sets? I can understand. But we've already passed the former and haven't reached the latter yet... There's literally nothing to react to right now.

Insane Raiders [2022-12-29: Occasional updates are still happening!]

Update (2022-12-29): I don't know how often I will use this forum, but I just wanted to write that once in a while I still make Insane Raiders themed comics. They are simpler (more like a sketch) and without colour, but they are still full of dubious decisions related to dynamite and landslides! Since I posted those only in Discord chat rooms etc. so far (where they can go under) I wanted to put them in one place and so I added them to my existing Insane Raiders gallery on DeviantArt. I hope you enjoy them! https://www.deviantart.com/arthuriel/gallery/50994783/insane-raiders Note: It can take a few seconds to load all the comics (depending on your internet connection). Hi, this is a thread, where I will try to continue a comic series every or every second week (note: replace week with month(s)). Usually they are based on my experiences with the Rock Raider PC game and the behavior of the Rock Raiders (including a good portion of insanity and exaggaration). Number 1. Dynamite Number 2. Cavern Run

Rock Raiders: Cavern Run Merry Christmas to everyone at RRU! On this special day, I have prepared a little present for you all: Cavern Run, a web game based on the arcade games of the 80s. Weighing in at just over 3MB (a bit larger than the sizes available back then, but meh), this game places a character designed by you, using the character creator at the beginning, into a long cavern filled with deadly hazards and rewarding Energy Crystals. Jump, shoot lasers and blast sonic at the obstacles in your way to make it as far as possible and gain the highest score, all while your running speed gets increasingly faster. With an excellent soundtrack by @Shadowblaze, an addictive-yet-simple gameplay and competitive working leaderboards, Cavern Run is sure to make this Christmas (and beyond) a special one! Play Now Cavern Run Requirements - Web browser with Adobe Flash Player (please ensure to allow data storage before you play the game) - Keyboard Instructions The game is played using the up, left and right arrow keys. The game will guide you through the menus and gameplay mechanics. At the character creator, pressing Jump while on the Head selection will begin the game. Crystals earn you 10 points each, Slimy Slugs earn you 30 points each and Rock Monsters earn you 50 points each. After you are defeated, you may enter your name using your keyboard (Backspace deletes characters, Delete will not work). Please do not use offensive or inappropriate names or your score entry will be removed. It is recommended that you use your RRU name or similar (there is a 10 character limit) to identify yourself to others when viewing the leaderboards. When you have finished a game, press the orange Reload button at the top-right corner of the screen if you wish to play again. In full screen mode you will need to refresh the page instead. Please note that you may have to click on the game screen a few times during the menu if the keys do not respond, this is an issue with Flash. So apparently water has rubble in it

No, the raider didn't have CrossWater TRUE. In any case, he'd have been walking on the water rather than in it. Also, I hadn't mucked around with the Path.map. But I know exactly how to replicate it... once again, a is up as your prize for guessing it, but the same EULA applies to the one which I gave to le717. (Speaking of that, I'll be updating my avatar soon...ish. Don't worry, it'll be sooner than Ayliffe's blog post. )

    GeoTool

GeoTool Beta 2 - 18 June 2016 A map viewer/editor for Lego Rock Raiders. Currently it can edit most aspects of a map's terrain, and can also convert the heightmap to and from images for editing in GIMP/Photoshop/Paint. It's written in D and OpenGL. Windows only. You can get the source code on GitHub. It replaces the old Heightmap Converter tool, which was ugly and too badly coded to improve any further. Also, I much enjoyed switching to D, it's a fun programming language. Usage Buttons for creating, loading, and saving maps are at the top right. You can also load by dragging a map's icon onto the GeoTool window. The load and save functions automatically detect the map components by their names, so you only need to open one of the map files; the rest will automatically be detected. They do need to be named correctly though -- as in, contain the words "surf"/"high"/etc. somewhere in their filename. You can view and edit the Terrain and the Heightmap with the tabs under the New/Load/Save buttons. Most image formats are supported for heightmaps. Images are grayscale, with black representing height 0 and white representing height 63 (higher than that bugs out LRR, so no point going that high.) You can move the camera with the keyboard or by clicking/dragging on the minimap. Screenshots New GUI to replace the buggy, gray old one: By default, LRR's radar map colors are used for the terrain: Terrain can also use the textures loaded from LRR biomes. Here's level 23 in terrain edit mode, with the rock biome: Heightmap editor: Controls WASD/Click on map = move Home = reset and center view to the center of the map Arrow keys = rotate camera PGUP/PGDN/+/-/Mouse wheel = zoom camera F5/P = save a screenshot F = toggle the FPS/status bar at the bottom Esc = exit You can load a folder containing textures for biomes. Biome folder paths are saved in the settings.ini file, so you don't have to reload them later on. Bmp Files

They're not standard bitmaps. Stop trying to tweak them into being parseable, because it won't work. I've figured most of it out. // all multi-byte types, unless stated otherwise, are little-endian. struct lr1_bmp { byte bit_depth; // the bit-depth of the [paletted] image. 0x04, 0x08, or 0x98 // where bit_depth is 0x98, IDK what the format is. byte palette_length; // length of the palette -1. i.e. For a palette with 37 entries, this would be 36. u16 width; // Width of the image in pixels. u16 height; // Height of the image in pixels. color[palette_length+1] palette; // zero-indexed color palette block[] blocks; // image data blocks. keep reading these from the file until you hit the end-of-file. } struct color { byte B; byte G; byte R; } struct block { u16 raw_length; // length of the decompressed block data. seems to have a maximum of 1000. u16 length; // length of the compressed block data byte[length] data; // block data. If length != raw_length, the data is compressed, and we have yet to figure out the algorithm used. If length == raw_length, the data is not compressed. } if you add together the raw_length of every block, you get the same value as width * height (or half if the image is 4bits per pixel), so we know all this is probably correct. Decompress each block in turn and append the raw data into a buffer. That buffer now contains the bitmap data. All we have to do now is to figure out the decompression algorithm.

Keeping an Eye on LEGO's Future

Imagine a world where you had the power to build LEGO with your mind. Or eyes, which is sort of close. LEGO is already envisioning that world (on a digital level, of course), as they demonstrated at Consumer Electronics Show 2015. The Eye Tribe is a software developer that, as you may have already surmised, is developing consumer-level eye-reading technology. They've partnered with LEGO to apply their technology to digital LEGO building. The LDD of the future? Sources: Brick Fanatics

    BIONICLE RETURNING 2015

In other news, I continue to tinker with my Pohatu set to try and recreate the flipped torso of the original. Latest attempt: This endeavor has made me realise that this set doesn't have that many brown pieces in it. I had to leave a couple out because I couldn't fit them anywhere that looked good, and as a result of using the limb armor to create a pseudo-torso, there's a lot of exposed framework. Though at this point the model is so far removed from the primary set that I might as well substitute armor parts from a different set and call it an original character.

Do you mean the grey gears, Jimbob? The one that isn't directly attached to the wheel system is mounted on a blue friction pin, and as a result it adds friction to the entire system - that way, the set can have its arms posed however you wish without having them flop down due to gravity.

    BIONICLE RETURNING 2015

They're supposed to swing the arm back and forth, just like the originals. At least they do on Pohatu, and I assumed the do rest as well. Are you sure you built it correctly? The way these sets are constructed, there are two sets of shoulder joints, one of which goes unused. I'm thinking you probably attached the arms in the wrong place.

That idea reminds me of Interstella 5555, which is basicly the movie version of the album Discovery from Daft Punk. Therefore I would say, that it is possible to do something in that direction. Only problem though: It's a movie (that consists of several music videos), which is about an hour long and not a whole series. Greetings!

Welcome to our humble abode, Generic Rock Raider #10516. For going beyond the call of duty and actually making a post on RRU - rather than the norm of making an account purely to download something - you have earned the right to be known from this day forth as VentXekart. You have been given your complimentary Energy Crystal already, go spend it on something awesome (I hear Hover Scouts are all the rage these days). We have produced a plethora of awesome mods for LEGO Rock Raiders, and a growing number of mods for other popular games such as LEGO Racers and LEGO Racers 2 too. But more than that, there are a great range of tutorials to teach you how to make your own mods as well! Explore the RRU Tower, uncover all its secrets, delve into its mysteries... Just keep away from floor 1848 (the smell is ghastly), floor 999, floor 7289 (although this matter will be resolved soon) and... Floor 718, unless you're one o' dem brony folk.

I think I just found a solution to my dilemma, and that dilemma is, that I don't have enough actors, and can't act my self. What I do have is music, which is a universal language. So I have decided that I am going to let music be the sound effects, and the story.

It's nice to see someone else has been toying around with some of construction combinations of the sets in addition to myself. I actually did something quite similar for re-engineering Gali over the weekend, finding that flipping around the upper portion of the chest plate help to make her look more feminine in form, and that flipping the position of the gearbox made more sense, seeing as she has fins on her feet. According to LEGO Customer Service Inventories via Bricket, they are all already showing up in a variety of regular Technic sets.

Well we lost two members today which is kind of sad, but i'm still going to push this though and get it done. I think we can still do this even with as few members as we currently have. I have also decided to shift gears and move to using 3DCGI for a majority of the components of the series, including the characters, world, mechs. Some of the textures and other objects may still be drawn though, and I may seek out other modelers and texture editors to help in breaking up some of the more detailed work. In case you're curious, my inspiration for using CGI is this scene from Arpeggio of Blue steel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=23E-YEHjASI Just thought i'd push out an update, i've started to model the basic shapes of various characters and design the Mechs, and other items. I've also been making an Elevation map of the Alien world that's going to be featured on the series, I plan on Modeling the entire planet, including the cities, buildings, streets, and characters etc. It'll be a lot of work, but i'll be easier for me to place and animate everything this way. But anyway, here is a basic Topographical map that i've been working on.

Rock Raiders United Incorporated Research - Help Wanted!

Rock Raiders United Incorporated is a private company, founded, funded and run by Mayor McCheese Cyrem. It was created on the 31st of July in 2008, and was run by Cyrem's father, gmjab. gmjab, being only a poor man, was able to find some free office space in the city of Brisbane, and used that to expand on his finding of the LEGO creation, LEGO Rock Raiders. gmjab died a little over a year later, but his son, Cyrem, created a new building from scratch with the profit his father had made him. Almost 3 years of progress later, the business has expand to millions of floors, becoming it's own entirely new state in Australia (called "Mexicongo"). The business has 1220 recorded employees, almost 65,000 posts produced and has successfully blocked more than 10,000 attacks. RRU's main source of income is from producing and selling forum posts. The building spans over 32,000,000 floors, and every floor contains at least one toilet. All toilets are in-sync, so if one breaks, they all break. Watercoolers are next to every single toilet block. Important floors are documented below; undocumented floors have either been abandoned or remain undiscovered caverns, containing high traces of ore, crystal and Brickonium. Several members have bought out entire floors, but all members sleep in private rooms in the barracks. 1 floor is square in shape approximate to more than the size of 20 A380 wings tip to tip. Every floor has a pants collection bin which automatically empties into the pants chute. All members are required to submit their pants to this bin upon the entering of a level. Staff are exempt. Level -1.340780793×10¹âµâ´ - Addictgamer's secret lab. It's the basement of RRU. The elevator can't go any lower due to it being at the lowest end of the 512 bit integer, and 512 bits is the largest integer the elevator supports. This level cannot be accessed under normal conditions. You must emag the elevator to unlock 512 bit mode. Some say the reason people (spammers, trolls, bots, etc) disappear from the prison is because addict kidnaps them at night, takes them down to his secret lab, and performs illegal experiments on them. They say he used some of these experiments to create force fields that keep spambots out of the building. Level -32,000,001 - Safe Room, in case of emergency all units should teleport here. Level -32,000,000 - Night Club Archon, IceHusky2's second DJ estate. Level -404 - Everything. Level -322: The holding area and private quarters for the Ultimate Life Form also known as Shadow322. Level -29 - Stargate Command. Level -7 - ftgsarge's level for his shenanigans and stuff. Level -5 - Lair's giant volcano robot living in a lava pool. Level -4 - Watering Hole (only area with natural water). Level -3 - Death Course - Filled with barbed wire, mine fields, snipers and radioactive waste. Aim is to open up a safe Level -2 - Gas Room - Funny gas that makes you invincible. Level -1 - Basement, contains several support stations. Most link strangely to Level 16, and the air tanks seem easy to replace. Level 0 (Ground) - Main entry point to the building. Staff here handle registrations, and employees come down here to handle technical support at the HelpDesk Kiosk. Level 1 - Newbie Floor. Members with less than 50-75 posts are only allowed here and Level 0, for safety reasons. Level 2 - Main Floor. Most members work on this floor, doing file research and other things. Level 3 - Office Amenities, including Extreme's DJ Office (radio), the Blogosphere, a secret cave containing the Knowledge Bricks (wikis) which can only be accessed by worthy members and the Search Bar. It is rumoured that seamonster spends most of his time at this bar, getting drunk and searching things, but nobody can determine what. Level 4 - VIP Section. Level 5 - Moderation Office. Level 6 - Prison and Banhammer Holding Cell. Currently suffering radiation leak, but is under repairs. Level 7 - Extreme's Floor. Level 8 - Was the old Shoutbox, but is currently suffering an unfixable radiation leak. Level 9 - Pascalgames Room. Level 10 - Fanfiction Library. A recent fire destroyed the remaining copies of Matter Shift. Level 11 - Devil's Toybox. Accessible to only certain members, contains dangerous secrets. Level 12 - Segatendo's Room. Lots of junk all over the place due to loads of unfinished projects; contains a bunch of Sonic and Nintendo stuff in the gaming corner of the room; there is a mirror that makes every object in its reflection rainbow coloured (except for the walls, floor, and ceiling). There are rumors that this mirror's power can be harnessed to make a gun that shoots rainbows. Level 13 - Storm's Floor. Level 14 - Starship docking station. Styled similar to Star Wars. Currently, Noghiri, Extreme, Cirevam and Lair all have fleets parked in this space. Level 17 - Office of Recorded Speeches and Quotations. Level 18 - The office of Katatonic717. Level 20 - Barracks Level 21 - Barracks Level 22 - Barracks Level 23 - McStudz's Quarters. On the floor, there's a bunch of stray bricks, paper, and half-finished Cups-o-Ramen, as well as a TARDIS that he's been building. There would be a private elevator to Sector G7, so if the need ever arises, I'll be down there in a flash to rip everyone present a new one. Level 24 - Barracks Level 25 - Rock Raiders HQ, serves as a place to create all the buildings, raiders and vehicles. Level 26 - Upload Center. Level 27 - Download Center (currently being deconstructed). Level 28 - Gallery (currently being deconstructed). Level 29 - Minecraft Portal. Level 30 - World of Text Portal (currently uninhabitable). Level 31 - Modification Testing Area. Level 32 - Software Documentation Throwing Room. Level 33 - Woman's Bathroom. Pretty much unused. Research here is being conducted by a subsidiary of Aperture Science. Level 41 - Brickonium Refinery, a dangerous location where raw Brickonium is processed into harmless bandwidth. Level 42 - CireLabs, a place where Cirevam can practice his magic, specifically waving light and milking shapes, as well as creating Infomaniac references. Guarded by CireCams. Level 52 - Alexpanter's chocolate storage, along with a rambling Packard Bell PC which runs Crysis surprisingly well. Level 66 - MAGARE Tracking Station, Action Station's DEFCON Planning Station. In the event that "Action Stations!" is declared, the appropriate DEFCON level is selected, and the war council meets up to discuss and take action against spam attacks. Level 67 - Closed down. Sometimes the sound of explosions, heavy artillery and atmospheric electronic music can be heard inside. Level 68 - Closed down.Sometimes the sound of explosions, heavy artillery and atmospheric electronic music can be heard inside. Level 69 - Lord Zakadia Private Crypt, created and maintained by McStudz. Level 70 - Leased by Incom Technologies for future collaborative projects. Level 71 - The mandatory Noodle Location/Forbidden Area/"That Place" that is sometimes mentioned but never actually seen. Level 72 - The Hiatus room. All members and projects on hiatus live here. Level 80: The speedrun section. This floor contains everything about speedrunning. All the records (and the previous ones) hang on the wall, and there is a cinema where you can view all the evidence-movies and discover some tricks for your own attempts. Dusty due to low amounts of people visiting. Level 88 - Pheonyx's Lab. Accessible only by a resonance door, where he experiments with Einstein-Rosene bridge generators, flux capacitors, Zero Point modules and DeLorian DMC12s, among other things that can rip holes in the space-time continuum. Level 323: 1 single room that is a giant amalgamation of every level and zone of the Sonic Universe combined into the hardest most difficult racing track ever devised for a hedgehog. Level 399: Former office/research facility of Professor Gerald Robotnik. Current office/research facility of Dr. Ivo Robotnik. Level 404 - Doesn't sppear to exist, but was last recorded as Nishliau's Time Rift room. It contained a very unstable time crystal that sent him into a random point into the future. The crystal is linked to him, and became so shortly after the passing of gmjab, however its effect kicked in after moving office buildings. Level 717 - Trianglular Minifigure Floor, owned by Le717. Level 718 (Sector G7) - Brony Community Outreach. Known as "Bald Spot". Level 775 - Alcom's primary suite Level 776 - Dropship Hangar Level 780 - Mech Hangar Level 999 - Button to the level is missing and the elevator will always skip this room even if you press 'immediate stop' while travelling between levels 998 & 1000, no-one knows why. Going past Level 999 the sounds of a Rickroll can be heard. Level 1313 - Noghiri's secret base. Level 1848 The Cheese Room - A room completely and absolutely dedicated to every and all forms of cheese. Level 1991 - apemax's floor. Beginners Guide To Modding Rock Raiders

Getting Started: Development Pathways ( Contents / Previous / Next ) Modding Paths At this point the tutorial splits into two methods. Which tutorial you follow on to read will depend on how you want to mod the game. These two methods are called the WAD and DATA methods. I have listed some information about each method below. WAD Method (Yet to post these tutorials) This is the original way to modify Rock Raiders. This method require that you rebuild new WAD files after you have done your modifications. You will not be able to see your mods until you rebuild the WAD file. The cons of this method is that it's a bit slower to mod however if you intend to create a big overhaul overhaul of the game the method allows you to easily distribute the mod. DATA Method (Yet to post these tutorials) The easiest way to mod. With this method you no longer need the WAD files. You can make changes and launch the game without needing to rebuild WADs like the previous method. However some people have experienced some odd gameplay issues with this method. Neither method is a bad choice, you'll just need to keep in mind what your method requires or doesn't require you to do.
