Drome Racers in-game-only models in LDD
emily and 2 others reacted to Toa_Of_Justice for a topic
jamesster, I am pleased to announce that your favorite in-game-only vehicle, the Pulse Concept, has been rendered in LDD! Click any image for a larger picture. LXF File (game-accurate version) In the game-accurate version of this model, it is not possible to install tail lights. However, I made another version in which I modified the structure holding the rear wheels in place, and then I was able to install tail lights. Another (albeit minor) issue is that the corrugated tubes inside the long fairings are too long. (The correct length was not available in LDD.) Each tube is actually three 2L tubes connected by TECHNIC pins. If I were to build this model in real life, I would ensure that I used tubes of the correct length. LXF File (modified version) All of the color variations below (and the white one above) are buildable in real life. (Note that the orange version featured here is actually medium orange, which comes from #8365 Tuneable Racer. As far as I know, the long fairings were never made in regular orange.) These color variations are possible in-game, but not in real life. Do you have a favorite color? I must admit I'm a fan of the metallic green one! MaelstromIslander, I shall get moo-ving on the cow next!3 points -

New version of ROCK RAIDERS - update
coffins reacted to StewartG for a topic
I thought I would share some good news on the remake of Lego Rock Raiders, we were going to call it Block Raiders (due to Lego trademark on the RR name, however the good news is that the trademark has expired and also the extra time they have to renew it, and we have just registered the 'Rock Raiders' trademark ourselves. The name will live on.1 point -
"L'Supervivere": A Steampunk MOC.
Wognif reacted to Ayliffe for a topic
L'Supervivere Over the course of several years during the great industrial age, this mechanical suit was created by the lesser-known Professor Stewart Phoenix out of disused parts scavenged from various scrapheaps and abandoned factories around the outskirts of Victorian London, hence L'Supervivere's rather cobbled together and complex appearance. The original and sole purpose of L'Supervivere was to be used by Professor Stewart Phoenix to protect his family and his estate, Phoenix Manor, from destruction, but over the years this technical monstrosity was also used for several other suitably vital causes, such as fixing leaks in the Manor's roof and rescuing cats from trees. The most notable alternative use of L'Supervivere was during a lengthy voyage abroad, in which it was used to navigate the treacherous rainforests of the Amazon and defend a party of explorers (including Professor Stewart Phoenix himself) against any threats they may have encountered. At the end of Professor Stewart Phoenix's long and fruitful life, he proclaimed in his last will and testament that L'Supervivere would be passed down to his eldest and only son, Dr Joseph Phoenix, on the sole condition that it mustn't be used for any type of criminal activity and that at the end of his life, he should also pass on L'Supervivere to his eldest son, and that this son should pass it on to HIS eldest son, and so on until what is only described within Professor Stewart Phoenix's will as "The end of all days", but so far no-one has been able to fully understand the meaning behind this choice of words. Mysteriously, after being passed down through several generations L'Supervivere and the Phoenix bloodline completely disappeared from public view in the early 1920s. It is still rumored that L'Supervivere still exists in its original form to this day, but the location of the suit itself and it's rightful owner is currently not known... More images on my Flickr. Drome Racers in-game-only models in LDD
ticketstoloservile reacted to Toa_Of_Justice for a topic
Since it's now the story year of Drome Racers, 2015, I decided to play the game again. (It works great on my Windows 8.1 x64 PC with an Xbox One Controller for Windows!) Then I wondered whether anyone ever made the in-game-only vehicles. >Someone else on here asked that question, and I gladly registered in order to see the answers. Unfortunately, I didn't see any rendition of the Torq Racer, so I made one in LDD. As time allows, I plan to re-create these models from Drome Racers in LDD, in this order: Pulse Concept (finished--see >this post; reference screenshots; old MLCAD model) Cow (finished--see >this post and >this post; built per MaelstromIslander's request) Dune Striker (finished--see >this post; reference screenshots) Stealth Roadster (finished--see >this post and >this post; reference screenshots) Tremor (finished--see >this post; reference screenshots) Hornet (finished--see> this post by MvdL95 and >this post by me; reference screenshots) Tsunami Street (finished--see >this post; reference screenshots) If the model you're looking for isn't listed above, chances are it was released as an official model or official alternate model in the summer of 2002. Feel free to use my reference screenshots to make your own renderings and/or real-life models of the in-game-only Drome Racers models. I plan to build one (and only one) of those models in real life. As for which model and which color... that's up to you! You may select the model in the poll above. After I have posted all the renderings, I'll announce the winner from the poll. (In the event of a tie, I'll either add a tiebreaker poll question, or if that's not possible, I'll decide the winner myself.) Next, I'll see which colors I can make the winning model in, based on available parts (I won't paint elements if they're not available in a certain color). Then I'll either add a poll question for the color or decide on the color myself. Finally, I'll post a link to a separate topic for the real-life model. EDIT: I thought I made a poll, but it seems to have disappeared. Please post or PM me your votes, or I can just count the thanks/likes per model. Thank you. EDIT 3/8/2015: In accordance with >this post, I have decided to build the Hornet in Metallic Green. Here it is. Without further ado, here is the Torq Racer! I wanted to use flexible axles (like the model in the game) rather than flexible cables, but due to limitations in LDD, I had to choose the latter. Rest assured that if this model gets built in real life, I'll use flexible axles. I'm not too sure about how the steering mechanism is supposed to be built, so I would appreciate any suggestions. Click any image for a larger one, click here to download the LXF File, or click here for my reference screenshots. Color Variations: All of these, including the white one above (but not the green one) are possible to build in real life according to Peeron.1 point -

That's brilliant. Even if it's a trifle fiddly. Half those bricks look like they'll fall off. How much flexibility do the legs actually have? None? I don't see a single hinge anywhere. But otherwise... that's awesome. But I'm not inclined to think it's yours, as in there you didn't use a single tongue smiley Oh, and as mumboking said, you're going to have some bent katanas. (and the stupid spellchecker doesn't recognise 'katanas,' believing it to be either the fourth most common Japanese surname or the capital of Kazakhstan....)1 point -
Lwo/lws Basics With Milkshape
Lair reacted to Cirevam for a topic
So you wanna be a master of LWO. But you don't have the skillz to be number one. I'm afraid that no one in our lands has perfected the art, but there are a few smithies with the knowledge to forge the most basic of blades. As one of those smithies, I feel it is necessary to pass down the secrets of the trade so that future generations may one day bear true masters. Masters of the Light(wave). Before I show you how to forge a blade of the light(wave), let me demonstrate how to summon an existing piece so that you may study its properties. All pictures will be retained with spoilers. Pay special attention to the import options. You'll want to use the one by CCCP for best results. However, notice how the textures don't show up. This is a problem inherent with Milkshape. If, however, you want to forge your creation for testing purposes, follow these steps: In-game, your creation will be either white, completely black, or some shade of gray. The reason is simple. There is another way to texture models, which is to directly apply color and other properties to them. I call this pseudotexturing. When you are making a material to apply to a model in Milkshape, you will see buttons for Ambient, Diffuse, Specular, and Emissive. Diffuse is flat color and Emissive is glowing color, and only these are supported in LRR. When you export a 5.x LWO with Milkshape, the RGB values of its pseudotextures will all change to be the value of the red channel, so RGB becomes RRR. If you have a hex editor such as XVI32, you can fix the pseudotextures after the export by scrolling to the bottom of the file and changing the COLR values accordingly. Let us move on to a much more powerful Anvil, the legendary Lightwave. Its power is such that you do not need to use importing techniques, and it displays your creations almost as they would appear in Valhalla. However, it cannot always find textures on its own, so you'll need to guide it. Remember that the sword does not guide the warrior, the warrior guides the sword. As you can see, Lightwave is much more useful if you want to see what your creation will really look like. However, the way that LRR handles texture transparency isn't understood by Lightwave, so do not be alarmed by giant triangles jutting out every which way. Let me also show you the Image Editor. This lets you view the textures that are applied to the model and to change some of their properties. Milkshape has a similar tool, but remember that it doesn't show imported LWO textures correctly. If you want to fully edit the textures applied to a model, you will need to use the Surface Editor. PWNZOR has a tutorial that explains the Surface Editor in depth so that you can texture your models correctly. I personally recommend it. Forging a creation is easy. While there is an export involved, Lightwave will handle the settings for you. Note that while the Anvils known as Lightwave are indeed powerful and revered, they were created by man and are not perfect. The one you see here is the Seventh Anvil and cannot remove impurites from the models you forge, so they will appear completely black in LRR. This condition is known as "superblack" since it appears as an eternal shadow in Valhalla, even in the presence of the Light. The Eighth and Ninth Anvils are able to forge your creations to satisfaction, and the The Fifth Anvil reportedly does the same. That Anvil was used by the Ancient Smithies of the DDI Clan, and I came into possession of this Anvil after an archeologist discovered some in a dark crypt. Unfortunately, the crypt was destroyed by bandits shortly thereafter, but both he and I have been consulting the ancient texts so we can attempt to understand it. Thankfully, the export process is the same for all recent Anvils. Just select Export Lightwave 5 and your creation will be forged. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now I will bestow unto thee the knowledge of how the Norse gods sew together the flesh and metal of beasts and blades alike. First open up Lightwave Layout and open an LWS file. For educational purposes I'll show you how the Small Transport Truck is formed. You will quickly notice that many of its pieces seem to be missing. Take note that not even Lightwave can replicate how things truly appear in Valhalla. Go to the object list and scroll through. You'll notice many things that represent the missing parts. These are called nulls. Nulls can be moved around and rotated. They may even have child nulls, as evidenced by the yellow ones that move and rotate in unison. You can choose a parent for the selected null or object by pressing 'm' then scrolling through the object list that appears. Let me show you how you can create nulls yourself. Nulls define where parts of the model are located. This makes upgrades possible in Valhalla, as different objects can be assigned to nulls in an AE file. There are also animation bones, though I do not know if they have a purpose in Valhalla. If you wish to experiment with them, here is how to summon one: This is all I can teach you for now. I hope it will be of use to you. Remember that the teacher never knows everything, so if you learn something that I an unaware of, feel free to become the teacher and I the student. LRR COMPATIBLE MODELS REQUIRE ONE OF THE FOLLOWING: - Any version of Milkshape with CCCP's LWO exporter. Export as 5.x with the settings shown. Textures will not be retained when exported, and pseudotextures will have the red value duplicated across the green and blue values. Alternatively, you can export as a 6.5 model and load that into a compatible version of Lightwave to do the final export. - Lightwave 8 or more recent. Textures cannot be UV'd; they must be applied planarly. Simply export as a Lightwave 5 model. Textures and pseudotextures will be retained. LRR COMPATIBLE ANIMATIONS REQUIRE LIGHTWAVE: - Some Anvils do not export animations correctly, such as the Ninth Anvil. The Seventh does, and I have heard that the Eighth does so as well. I have not confirmed whether or not the Tenth can export LWSes correctly.1 point -

I'd also like to point out what MIGHT be obvious, but should be touched on... "Skull Grinder's" mask looks a lot like the silhouette we got with the North American LEGO Magazine pullout. I'm not sure if this will ACTUALLY be Makuta, but it's too soon to tell at this point. As for overall designs... Well, these new villains are all varied. Like, they're KIND OF humanoid, but very different from one another, unlike the Toa who just had fairly similar builds. I also wonder how these baddies will intertwine with the Lord of Skull Spiders. I'm almost 100% sure that the masks with the villains (other than the Mask of Creation) are all placeholders, and if I'm right then what would the masks be? I'd also like to show you guys some fan art I found of the 2015 Toa... But with a style like the old 2001 comic covers. I thought these were pretty well done! Source is HERE. EDIT: I'm using the latter image as my phone background. It looks surprisingly great.1 point -
