Lego Racers music project
bobsayshilol and 5 others reacted to J Reggie for a topic
I'm working on a large-scale project involving the music from LR1. This project has four ultimate goals: 1. To create note-for-note transcriptions of all of the .TUN files in LR1 (PC version). These will not be playable on any instrument, but will form the basis for the rest of my work with the music. I plan on posting these here in case anyone wants to create their own reductions or arrangements. 2. To create playable piano reductions for all of the music. I will be using my own judgement as to what to change or not to include to make these playable. I can also add fingering suggestions if people so desire. The reductions will probably end up requiring around an intermediate level of skill to play up to speed, but I'll try not to make them too crazy. 3. To arrange all of the music for the instruments it was originally scored for. This will be both just for the fun of looking at the full score and also in the unlikely event that anyone wants to play any of these songs in a band (if this ever happens, please send me a link to it!) Note that some of the instruments I will be scoring for are transposing instruments, so it might get a little confusing if you're not used to reading full scores. This will also help me in my final goal, which is: 4. To reproduce all of the .TUN files using high-quality samples and synthesizers. That way, anyone can use the same songs in Lego Racers without the cheesy 90s MIDI samples (nothing against those personally, but it would be nice to have more realistic-sounding music). I'm not sure how long this entire project will take, but I will keep you posted on my progress. If anyone has any of the songs which they would like to have sheet music to sooner rather than later, let me know and I will try to get to them first. Here are samples of the first three goals for this project, all of Rocket.TUN (the theme from Rocket Racer Run). Transcription: Reduction: Orchestration:6 points -

Basically, your main objective is to kill Antillies.4 points -
Just a tip, but saving them as standard bitmap (.bmp) files might be wiser, as LEGO Racers can parse them and read them natively. This avoids the tedious task of having to convert the .pngs to .bmps and also helps to preserve the alpha channel of the textures. As a texture modder, I cannot wait to see the release of this tool, which will bring us forward in modding LR1 by leaps and bounds.3 points

During the previous section of RRU Pictionary, I had to go have dinner, which is why there was a bit of a gap where I hadn't posted anything. In the aftermath I was surprised there was a KSP related suggestion, so here is my later than late reply to this suggestion;1 point -
Game will install, but not run.
Kutsus reacted to RobExplorien for a topic
I also had this problem, and I still kind of have. Right now I can get the game running fine in windowed mode with altered width and height (though still prone to freezing at the start on my end), which would make me guess something about the (default) video settings is not in order for full-screen play. So the method I'm using to mimic full-screen is: Create shortcut of "LEGO Racers 2.exe". Right-click shortcut, select Properties. Look for Target field and after the last quotation mark, add the parameter /windowed, separated from the path with a whitespace. At this same field, you can add more parameters (separated by whitespaces) to alter the width and height of the window. So add /width -x /height -y with x and y as your preferred resolution. One note though, getting a good window size may take a little bit of trial and error. Interested in more of such parameters, look here: '?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>>1 point -
Hello to all!
Drill Master reacted to J Reggie for a topic
Thank you all for the welcome! I think what makes the most sense for me is to post all of my updates in a member project, and then post in the LR modding discussion when I have something that can be added into the game. Just as a clarification, I know that double-posting is discouraged in discussions, but am I allowed to post in a member project whenever I have a new update, or should I simply add to my original post when I have more material? le717, thanks for the offer, but I am also rather busy right now, so I don't think now would be a great time for me to try to get started with programming. And Drill Master, I have a YouTube channel, but that's mostly older stuff. I have more of my recent music on my Soundcloud. (Also, how do you make it so that someone's name links to their profile in a post? I wasn't able to find that in the help topics.) Nevermind, as you can see, I figured it out.1 point -

le717 LP's Some HTML5 fan-made LEGO-themed game
Ayliffe reacted to le717 for a topic
This game literally has no title, so I had no clue what to call it. It was @WillKirkby that linked this *ahem* game in the Skype group on 31 January, and upon seeing it I knew I had to do an LP. Apologies if it is not the most entertaining LP I've done. Homework restricts me greatly right now. Hopefully a better one can occur soon. Also, after the audio fiasco with Lego GTA, I reported I would be recording the game and my video in two difference tracks and mixing them in. While it took a bit more editing, I think it came out well, otherwise this LP too would have had audio leveling issues. "Enjoy".1 point -

Bmp Files
Cirevam reacted to Sluicer for a topic
I have wrapped my head around the compression. And it was a hell of research for me. But I made first progress. I am able to decompress the smaler files. For now I only get the color indices. I still have to surround them by a classic file format. Did anyone created an 'real' image out of an uncompressed block? I will show you an simple example (MENUDATAPIECEDBSQUAREZ2.BMP): 04 04 10 00 10 00 FF 00 00 00 FF 00 00 FF FF 00 00 FF FF FF FF 80 00 24 00 44 80 0B 01 41 11 11 14 43 33 33 70 34 00 08 16 0A 38 0A 05 40 00 00 04 0E 42 22 22 24 00 08 16 0A 3D 00 00 04 - BitDepth 04 - NumberOfColors 10 00 - Width 10 00 - Height FF 00 00 - Color0 00 FF 00 - Color1 00 FF FF - Color2 00 00 FF - Color3 FF FF FF - Color4 80 00 - UncompressedSize 24 00 - CompressedSize 44 - First two ColorIndices 80 - BlockHeader (0x10000000; 0 -> direct values, 1 -> RLE definition) The BlockHeader[0] is 1 -> RLE 0B 01 - RLE (go 0x01 byte back and copy the next (0x12 - 0x0B = 0x07) bytes): 44 44 44 44 44 44 44 The BlockHeader[1] is 0 -> direct value 41 The BlockHeader[2] is 0 -> direct value 11 The BlockHeader[3] is 0 -> direct value 11 The BlockHeader[4] is 0 -> direct value 14 The BlockHeader[5] is 0 -> direct value 43 The BlockHeader[6] is 0 -> direct value 33 The BlockHeader[7] is 0 -> direct value 33 70 - BlockHeader (0x01110000; 0 -> direct values, 1 -> RLE definition) The BlockHeader[0] is 0 -> direct value 34 The BlockHeader[1] is 1 -> RLE 00 08 16 - RLE (go 0x08 byte back and copy the next (0x16 + 0x12 = 0x28) bytes): 41 11 11 14 43 33 33 34 41 11 11 14 43 33 33 34 41 11 11 14 43 33 33 34 41 11 11 14 43 33 33 34 41 11 11 14 43 33 33 34 The BlockHeader[2] is 1 -> RLE 0A 38 - RLE (go 0x38 bytes back and copy the next (0x12 - 0x0A = 0x08) bytes): 44 44 44 44 44 44 44 44 The BlockHeader[3] is 1 -> RLE 0A 05 - RLE (go 0x05 bytes back and copy the next (0x12 - 0x0A = 0x08) bytes): 44 44 44 44 44 44 44 44 The BlockHeader[4] is 0 -> direct value 40 The BlockHeader[5] is 0 -> direct value 00 The BlockHeader[6] is 0 -> direct value 00 The BlockHeader[7] is 0 -> direct value 04 0E - BlockHeader (0x00001110; 0 -> direct values, 1 -> RLE definition) The BlockHeader[0] is 0 -> direct value 42 The BlockHeader[1] is 0 -> direct value 22 The BlockHeader[2] is 0 -> direct value 22 The BlockHeader[3] is 0 -> direct value 24 The BlockHeader[4] is 1 -> RLE 00 08 16 - RLE (go 0x08 byte back and copy the next (0x16 + 0x12 = 0x28) bytes): 40 00 00 04 42 22 22 24 40 00 00 04 42 22 22 24 40 00 00 04 42 22 22 24 40 00 00 04 42 22 22 24 40 00 00 04 42 22 22 24 The BlockHeader[5] is 1 -> RLE 0A 3D - RLE (go 0x3D bytes back and copy the next (0x12 - 0x0A = 0x08) bytes): 44 44 44 44 44 44 44 44 We reached UncompressedSize By this we get: 44 44 44 44 44 44 44 44 41 11 11 14 43 33 33 34 41 11 11 14 43 33 33 34 41 11 11 14 43 33 33 34 41 11 11 14 43 33 33 34 41 11 11 14 43 33 33 34 41 11 11 14 43 33 33 34 44 44 44 44 44 44 44 44 44 44 44 44 44 44 44 44 40 00 00 04 42 22 22 24 40 00 00 04 42 22 22 24 40 00 00 04 42 22 22 24 40 00 00 04 42 22 22 24 40 00 00 04 42 22 22 24 40 00 00 04 42 22 22 24 44 44 44 44 44 44 44 44 That is it for now.1 point -
