UPDATE: I now have transcriptions for four more songs. It's not that much, but I figured I should post an update since I haven't posted anything in a while. Whip: Witch: Magma: Docks: Let me know if anyone wants me to upload any other elements of these, such as the audio, Sibelius documents, XML files, PDFs, or anything else. So far, the audio for these is just played by Sibelius' piano sound. As a side note, these songs are so weird! I never noticed how many crazy things happen in them until I started transcribing them. I believe they were composed by the main developer of the game, who might not have had that much musical training and mostly just a good ear.3 points -

Lego Racers music project
bobsayshilol and one other reacted to J Reggie for a topic
I'm working on a large-scale project involving the music from LR1. This project has four ultimate goals: 1. To create note-for-note transcriptions of all of the .TUN files in LR1 (PC version). These will not be playable on any instrument, but will form the basis for the rest of my work with the music. I plan on posting these here in case anyone wants to create their own reductions or arrangements. 2. To create playable piano reductions for all of the music. I will be using my own judgement as to what to change or not to include to make these playable. I can also add fingering suggestions if people so desire. The reductions will probably end up requiring around an intermediate level of skill to play up to speed, but I'll try not to make them too crazy. 3. To arrange all of the music for the instruments it was originally scored for. This will be both just for the fun of looking at the full score and also in the unlikely event that anyone wants to play any of these songs in a band (if this ever happens, please send me a link to it!) Note that some of the instruments I will be scoring for are transposing instruments, so it might get a little confusing if you're not used to reading full scores. This will also help me in my final goal, which is: 4. To reproduce all of the .TUN files using high-quality samples and synthesizers. That way, anyone can use the same songs in Lego Racers without the cheesy 90s MIDI samples (nothing against those personally, but it would be nice to have more realistic-sounding music). I'm not sure how long this entire project will take, but I will keep you posted on my progress. If anyone has any of the songs which they would like to have sheet music to sooner rather than later, let me know and I will try to get to them first. Here are samples of the first three goals for this project, all of Rocket.TUN (the theme from Rocket Racer Run). Transcription: Reduction: Orchestration:2 points -

....It's mainly been just the classic game's posted in here so far though.. One day someone decided to contact me asking for some IXS rips. I proceed to do a few. While doing a couple vehicles I decided to take a few mini-render pictures of the alternate colours, but in doing so, I got carried away and did much more. With that being said, enjoy all the renders I have done over the last week! All renders (except the last which is larger) are 1920px X 1080px. As RRU scales the images down to fit in the post width, click on the image for larger version of it, or simply go to the DeviantArt page! (highly recommended!) 1. Motorbike Mayhem Airport One of my first renders, the airport on Motorbike Mayhem. It's quite cool to see what the level looks like at a different angle I must say. 2. Duckies! 3. Pier Viewing Beautiful day to hang by the pier eh? Oh wait... the ships are causing WAY too much of a racket to enjoy anything! 4. After a long day's work.... ...the studio is empty and everyone is taking a nice restful break. 5. Copter in the Warehouse While making this picture I wanted to make an image within the warehouse, but I wasn't sure what to do. Sure I could of just done a render of one of the minigame's levels, or even my own custom one, but I wanted to be a bit more original than that, so here you have it, the copter being shown off in all its galore inside the warehouse! 6. Sunset on the Island The sun is setting (FINALLY!?) on the Island. You'd almost think they never get nighttime here. Anyway, this is my first test at doing a time of day aside from the full bright day time, and as well as being a first for adding a minifigure, with a bit of a pose on top of that (raised arm and slightly rotated head). The image didn't turn out exactly how I wanted, but I'm satisfied enough with the results to stop messing with it and show it off. 7. Main Island Northwest Isometric Press the "Download" button on the art's page for the full size of the isometric image, which is 7680px X 4320px Warning! Make sure your computer won't explode from such a large image before opening. =P Q. Tools? Programs? Etc? A. 3D Ripper DX (for ripping), Windows 7 32-bit (for ripping), 3DS Max Student Edition (2010 for import and 2015 rendering). Q. Will you be doing other classic LEGO games? A. Maybe. I've already tested one other non-LEGO game with success. Just keep in can only do what I can rip after all, which to say is not all LEGO games, and even then the whole process takes a while. The large isometric image took 3 hours in rendering time alone. Q. Will you do requests? A. Maybe, but not highly likely.1 point -
LSR developer needs your help (getting to run the game again)
aidenpons reacted to k-g for a topic
Hello there! I'm one of the original developers of LSR, and I found this site while looking for a way to get the game running on my PC again. Before I post my question, let me say I'm really chuffed to see so much enthusiasm for this old game. I've seen some really cool stuff on this forum. I'll happily chime in on some of the posts with some development trivia. I should also have some development artwork lying around which I'm guessing will interest you too. Anyway, I'm trying to get the game to run on Windows 7, 64-bit. I saw another thread about getting it to run on Windows 7, and I followed the instructions there, but still no luck. I've not been able to run the installer properly. After clicking the install button, the buttons go grey and nothing happens after that. So I tried extracting the cab files using the Universal Extractor, and so I've got _msr.exe and all the rest. When I ran that, I received an error about MOTO.rtb missing from c:\windows\system32. After copying the file there (and rebooting), I no longer get the error. However, when starting _msr.exe now, I get the splash screen, then a black screen, and then the game crashes and I'm back in Windows. I'd be very grateful if you can help me out, and I can get the game running again. Many thanks in advance. KG1 point -

This might sound weird at first, but if you weren't running it as an administrator before (Right click on _msr.exe or the shortcut > Properties > Compatibility tab > "Run this program as an administrator" check box), do that. Then try launching it, maybe it'll be back in 640x480. (I'm sure you know how to run programs as admin and all that, I'm just being thorough in case anybody else with similar problems come across this thread later) The game saves stuff to the registry. If you run it as an administrator, it should be under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREWow6432NodeLEGO MediaLEGO Stunt Rally" (that's where it is for me, anyway). But if you aren't running it as an admin, it's saved to some other weird path I'm not sure of. I'm thinking that maybe if you run as admin, when it uses the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE path, it'll have the default values in there instead of your customized options, which were saved in the VirtualStore or whatever it is... If it didn't go back to 640x480 while running as admin (or you were already running as admin when you changed the resolution), open up regedit, go to that HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE path I mentioned earlier, and change "Resolution" to 0. (0 is 640x480, 1 is 800x600.) Uuuuhhh... I'm not sure. Mine is only in English. Maybe you could swap out the SPEECH0001 and TEXT0001 RFD/RFH files in the res folder for English ones? Here's mine: https://www.dropbox.com/s/v1gss71aw9610ek/LSR%20English%20Files.zip?dl=0 Looking forward to it.1 point -

Cave Raiders (Rebuild of Rock Raiders)
Pixus reacted to Packer for a topic
Short answer: Nope. Long Answer: I don't have access to a Mac machine to compile a mac version, even then I wouldn't be quite sure if had the technical knowledge to do so. If I gain access to a mac, I will give it a try. Big news blab below, I wrote this at 3am so it might not be the most professional post I've done. Some of the information is distributed weirdly. So I've started from scratch in terms of coding, I'm leaps and bounds better at it than when I was working on it before. I've coded the cave system almost completely, works almost the exact same as the original game only with improvements! With that said I still need to code ground pieces such as paths and lava/water. However that will be A LOT easier than the cave walls which took me a solid week of coding. What I'm aiming for: I'd like to create a similar but different experience to the original game, similar as in the same everything minus the RTS element and bots. What the hell does that even mean? So the idea from the get go was to more or less recreate the first person experience from RR into a fleshed out game, that is still the goal. The gameplay will be adjusted from the originals to better suit a team player driven experience than a RTS mindless bots running around eating sandwiches while being attacked. The game is and will be Online Multiplayer and I'm aiming for a individual player progression as well as team work to build structures and gather resources to be used to create vehicles. Talking about the individual player progression, so far I've been designing it and haven't implemented anything as of yet. RR each of the raiders could hold 2 items (from memory), the same applies to this games players though the more tasks a player completes such as mining walls, shoveling rubble, they gain XP or a type of currency, with this they can choose from a small list of things of upgrades that allows them to do more. Examples would be allowing the player to use light/heavy vehicles or increase their inventory capacity. What about the single player experience? I am keeping it in mind. I haven't worked with RTS bots before, let alone ones that path find around a ever changing cave system. I've thought of having "guards" that the player can spawn in to help protect the base but bots mining is a whole new level of programming and time. Risks and challenges: My number one risk is that I don't get the time to work on this or I loose interest altogether, I'm a full time student learning programming for the next 2 years and constantly looking for games industry work. As always, work comes before these things, but in my case my work will be developing games in one way or another and coming home to do more of it is taxing to say the least. The cave system was one of the biggest challenges of restarting development on this game, I can safely say 80% of it is done, I just hope I don't run into code breaking problems with paths. Next challenge will be implementing buildings, so rather than just having an entire base, you'll get to choose locations for your buildings or even paths, I'll be allowing all players to do this. The risk being players might waste resources on doing unnecessary things so a bit more thought needs to go into it, I'm likely going to set limits so you may only have 1 Power Station, this would need some balancing. I plan to have an interactive system where you press a 'use' button on the structure and you'd gain access a menu that would let you change your inventory or purchase vehicles etc. While I've done similar things before I haven't quite hit this scale. Updating the art, I did everything originally for Blockland and I was trying very hard to keep everything low poly (Which was a good thing!). However circles are horrible with only 6 sides. I need to update everything which takes roughly 1-2 hours per building/vehicle and there is a lot. This is a low priority but I want to do it. I am considering a "leader" role, where by the players vote a leader into power and they control the placement of buildings and use of the global resources. This is a huge undertaking, its almost a game within itself in the large scale of everything. This is why I'm aiming for individual progression so each person can do what they want rather than be dictated on what to build or do next. But it would be nice to have. Vehicle testing so far has ended in vehicles clipping through the cave and falling off the 'world', I hope I can fix this... My next to-do is to make a to-do list, I've just been working on random things thus far so I might need to get onto a task list. Additional: I've ported over the Power Station and updated components on it so it looks more like the actual thing. I've also ported and redid a heap of the tool store, I had to keep it thicker than the original games just so the collision would make sense to players. Still a fair bit I'd still like to update on these. So I hope this have given you guys a bit of insight to what goes through my brain direction I'm taking this project in. I used to be very hush hush about features and goal but with these hobby projects I'm now becoming very open with them. I may even open my game design document to the public but don't hold your breath. I will not be adding land slides to this game.1 point -
