    Papu and Rangi

Pretty shortly after Christian Faber posted this video documenting concepts for the original Voodoo Heads that eventually became BIONICLE, someone threw up a topic on Eurobricks offering brick-built versions of the iconic heads. GK733 took the idea and ran with it, using a modified version of one of the heads in this awesome MoC that he dubbed a Great Being. That really fueled my imagination, and now I've built up something of my own based on his design. As you can see, the core of the designs are taken straight from GK733's MoC. What I did was switch things up to bring in more of the Voodoo Head aesthetic. The heads are also completely custom - I feel like the Islanders theme had a strong influence on BIONICLE's earliest conceptual art direction, and made Papu and Rangi to be siblings to Kahuka in design. Together Rangi Side Back Head Papu Side Back Head For those who don't know, Papu and Rangi are easily the most mysterious of BIONICLE characters. Their names are derived from the Mother and Father gods of Maori, Ranginui and Papatuanuku, which is more than likely why they only appear in passing conversation in the Mata Nui online game - once the Maori lawsuit hit LEGO realized they needed to cover up the evidence they were actually using Maori gods in their story fast and had the only places they had appeared thus far, those vague mentions in Mata Nui, struck from the record. I personally believe that they were conceived as the original Great Beings of the BIONICLE mythos, to later be replaced by a bunch of bumbling idiots who decided they were better than everyone else because they had super cool powers. Either way, they were definitely god-tier - Nokama speaks of how they plan the fates and Jala says that they named Ta-Koro as the village of fire. Papu is the blue one - I envisioned her as the warrior of the two and gave her a more dynamic pose to convey that. Rangi is the balancing avatar of knowledge, taking a more hunched and wizened stance. Their attributes are reflected in the Toa Kaita - Akamai of Valor, and Wairuha of Wisdom. Sorry the photos are only okay, I don't have much to work with. Oh! And while we're here, here's another thing I made.

Retro LEGO Comics/Storybooks/Animated Cartoons General Discussion

Hello again! Popping back in to say that all the pages have been scanned and uploaded to Brickshelf where they are now waiting to be approved and open to public viewing! But in the meantime, I went ahead and uploaded all of the scanned pages to a Dropbox folder, here and also included a .zip file within the dropbox of all the pages! Let me know if there are any issues viewing the folder or pages Again, it's all in German, but still neat and exciting to have all the pages online now I think! I could try my best to translate... But I'm not sure if I would do a very good job beyond minimal understanding of the language and google translate but I could always try! :'-) If anyone wants to take a crack at it, you're awesome please do! I will edit this post again once the Brickshelf gallery is up online and public (I will be checking on that periodically)! EDIT: The gallery is public! Here's the link to the Brickshelf! Enjoy!

    Hello!

Hello, Rock Raiders United community. I've been on-and-off lurking these forums for a while, and decided to join. I used to be fairly active on BZPower under the username "Tacku" too. I'm a fan of classic LEGO video games, particularly LEGO Island, LEGO Racers, and LEGO Alpha Team. So, hello to all of you! PS: By the way... yes, I am the same Tacku who made the not-so-good LEGO Island fangame...

    LEGO Worlds News And Discussion

So over on Eurobricks, this intriguing teaser image was found on the back of an instruction booklet for 60097 City Square: It's extremely vague and the URL doesn't work (yet), but could this be the sandbox free-building lego game we've all been waiting for?

The project to emerge from the flames this round is Labyrinth Marble Maze. A very nice choice if I do say so myself. In addition, the Star Citizen F7A Hornet is still being looked at. Apparently this is a video game that hasn't even come out yet? There must be a lot of hype for a model from it to reach 10,000 votes, then.

AHA! I KNEW IT! KING KAHUKA'S BROTHER AND SISTER WERE ROBOTS! OF CO- oh wait a minute This is some really cool stuff Pereki. Much more tribal than the original BIONICLE and really has that Voodoo Heads feel to it.

    Hello!

I did do this thing as a fourth, but it's not really a game. Then again I'm not sure the others are either... Edit: I just got the joke you made now. Three hours later. I feel dumb.

    Hello!

Six years?!?! Expletive redacted, how time flies... By the way, the Legos in Space series might be the greatest thing ever. I know you made three of them already, but you should really make a fourth and call it Legos in Space 3.

    Hello!

Hah, didn't expect this. You're responsible for getting me into the LEGO community beyond the message boards, and getting me into making gamey thingies. Oh geez that was six years ago.

    Hello!

Welcome! Followed your LEGO Island 3 topic back in the day with great interest, even though my parents wouldn't let me download it to play. It may not be fantastic but it's an interesting part of the history of LEGO Island.

Scans would be great. We don't allow full scans to be uploaded to RRU's gallery/file hosting, but you can host them somewhere else (Brickshelf? Or a zip on Mediafire or something?) and link to them here.
