A bit of a random post. Here are some images that we were sent by LEGO just for reference/inspiration I believe, plus some prototypes for the Stunt Rally character minifigs.4 points -
Some minifig faces: Tim from Time Cruisers + 2 skulls + other stuff
Rock Monster and 2 others reacted to TheStranger for a topic
Hi! I'm new here I can't believe there's a forum where people still talk about Lego Racers. I felt like playing this game again after years and decided to google it to see if there were any mods for it and found this forum filled with cool stuff. I made a few skins textures that I thought I'd share: Tim from the Time Cruisers Lego Series: He has a different face for each emotion like the others in the game. And I made these 2 skulls from some Lego sets: Download link (all in one file): I made them on MS Paint and then used some online tracing/vector thing, and for the last skull I realized I could use IrfanView to save it in 256 colors properly. Still they aren't terribly good Idk if any of these has been made already by someone else, sorry in that case, I must have missed it. I hope you like them EDIT! I made these 2 new skins: Spritle's shirt from the Speed Racer theme and the Actress jacket from the Lego Studios theme. Maybe making the shirt yellow like the original was a bad idea though And I made this rim texture to replace the default old white ones with these that are meant to be those the Tiny Turbos had. Texture quality set to low by default

Still, no matter if there is or isn't an improvement regarding the texture quality, you might agree with me that the arms still look awkwardly lighted.1 point -

The levels are stored in LegoRR0.wad, each with its own folder in \Levels\GameLevels\. They're made up of multiple binary map files, 1 for each aspect of the map (Surf_##.map for the terrain, High_##.map for floor height, etc)... the formats were fully decoded and documented on the wiki, I think, but it's gone. Maybe someone has a backup of those pages?1 point -

Two years ago, a day after RRU's 6th anniversary and 9 days before my birthday, I first shoved my ugly mug 'ole in the general direction of this site, and joined because - Well, actually I've never said on here the real reason why I joined in the first place. Mainly because it was so downright silly. I joined to look at... a topic with a nyan cat mod for racers. Really. When I first navigated my way here as a member of the LMBs (that stopped very soon after), I was a bit of a n00b to be honest. Okay, I wasn't as extreme a n00b as some members (jamesbrick and delle come to mind), but I wouldn't exactly call my early posting habits outstanding, to say the least. To be honest, my posting didn't really become decent until the beginning of 2014, when I started drawing again for a community project that sorta went nowhere (and I still kinda doubt it would, but I'd be interested to see it go somewhere). It was a bit weird picking up my pencil again after so many years of not drawing, but now I'm really happy that I'm back to drawing again - And yeah, I've sorta gone off on a weird tangent of talking about my history here on RRU, haven't I? Yep, I should do that less. Anyways, I guess the main reason I wanted to make this post was to thank all of you for making the last 2 years of me being here so enjoyable. Yes, every single one of you. Even the spambots and the n00bs and the 20 different accounts that were dellepack. All of you have contributed in your own unique ways to my online life, and helped me gradually through my real one. I've made a ton of mates through here, and hopefully I'll make more over the next umpteen years here. So yeah, here's to another infinity years here. You ain't getting rid of me that easily - Ayliffe/Jay/Bayleef/Mr Phoenix1 point -
LEGO Worlds News And Discussion
aidenpons reacted to le717 for a topic
First up, developers posted a picture of the first island ever generated by Worlds. We've come a way, folks. Secondly, most likely due to the constant whining, complaining, impatience, criticism of the developers and attitude of entitlement that plagues the Elimbies Annex (and has gotten on my nerves waaaaaay more than it should have, as many people can testify), a "What we are working on" post has been published. These things won't all be in Update 2, but rather this supplements the planned features list on the store page. Some notable points: Underwater exploration is coming, starting with the camera going underwater with you, also "when you dive down you get blue hearts and limited time to explore, while underwater vehicles will have no such problems!" There will not be a separate gameplay mode, AKA Survival à la Minecraft. The reason? "We feel strongly that the identity of the game would suffer." That being said, they "do aim to draw inspiration from modes and mechanics we’ve seen elsewhere, just not in a packaged story or survival mode." Obviously the camera will continue to be tuned (no mention of first-person mode) They are currently making small tweaks the GUI, but in the longer run it will be overhauled (hopefully for the better) "Also tying in to making exploration and discovery better, we are working on a procedural system for generating towns & settlements." The biggest news here is more details on multiplayer. Starting with the obvious, their engine was initially designed as single-player, local co-op, not online play. Worlds is thus having them reconsider and rewrite a lot of their engine to work in online multiplayer. Maybe this means we can except online play in future TT games, but who knows. They are also adding local co-op with splitscreen. This one is interesting to me as I kinda expected this to be present already. It seems they were actually going to cut it out completely and replace it with online multiplayer. The problem now is such co-op brings performance issues, which have always been present, but by the nature of Worlds, I can see that being a bigger issue now. Update 2 info will be coming out next week.1 point -

Creator's big custom AI racers collection
TheStranger reacted to Creator for a topic
Ok, here's how this is gonna work: Whenever I finish a new AI racer reskin, I'm gonna add a new entry to this topic. This way, you'll be able to download characters you want seperately and I don't have to make a new thread every time I finish a character. I'm making these based on the theme list from JimbobJeffer's Theme Overhaul mod, but I may still be taking requests for custom AI racers. Just send me a PM or post a reply, telling me who you would like to see made into an AI opponent. Racers Upgrade Pack
TheStranger reacted to Olivus Prime for a topic
Over the past week or so, I've been attempting to make a pack of skins that not only features texture corrections for two of the game's characters, but also features several classic minifigures to replace the more boring body parts (i.e. the racing suits, Majisto's body, the regular moustache/sunglasses/skeleton heads). The pack provides a corrected chest texture for Commander Cold, and textures for Black Knight that match the actual Black Knight minifigure (no more mish-mash Fright Knights and Dragon Knights parts...). This includes a new face, chest and swapped helmet colours. The MAP has also been modified for Black Knight (Commander Cold doesn't need one). Meanwhile, here's the list so far for the additional characters, check out the spoiler at the end of the post to see them in action: Señor Palomar - Amazon Adventurers Sheriff Deputy - Western Spyrius Agent - Spyrius Space Port Astronaut - Space Port (Rocket Racers homage ) ??? - Castle character The last figure brings me to a question - I wanted to use the black Castle helmet in a figure, so do you guys think I should do a Fright Knight character or a Black Falcon? I'll try and get the textures up by next week! Señor Palomar (expressions and corrected face needed): Sheriff Deputy (complete): Spyrius Agent (expressions and retextured helmet needed): Space Port Astronaut (corrected face and Space Port chest needed): Corrected Commander Cold: Corrected Black Knight (Expressions needed):1 point -
Star Wars: Chancellor Palpatine (Clone Wars) Minifigure (+ different faces)
TheStranger reacted to alan for a topic
Credits go to this page for the basic textures Palpatine Texture For Minifigures including different snapshot faces for the license Here's my Palpatine Texture for Lego Racers! The head will replace Commander Cold's face (of course you can choose another, but I thought that CC's voice would suit best) and the torso the blue body with a grey bag at the side. The leg color replaces the light grey legs. I made the different faces myself with Paint.NET. I also know that some of these faces are more like 'fun' faces and not very real. Here are some pictures for those who want to see it before he downloads stuff: Download link: https://ore.rockraidersunited.org/legacy/LR_Palpatine_Minifig_244840.zip Installation instructions: After you decompiled the JAM you put the following files into LEGOMENUDATAPARTDB : CC_ANGRY; CC_BLINK; CC_DFLT; CC_HAPPY; CC_SAD; CC_SUPRZ; LEG_LTGR; MJ_CHST You will also have to copy CC_DFLT; LEG_LTGR and MJ_CHST into LEGOGAMEDATACOMMON , so that the driver also looks like a palpatine during the races.1 point
