Evil is a Giant Robot Swivel Chair

I've been staring at the cup for days now and just can't work out how to do the scissors! Anyone have any suggestions?! I think they are using part 4595 x 2, but how they are getting them to oppose I have no idea!!! HELP!

Evil is a Giant Robot Swivel Chair

I linked to that McDonald's cup with a canned Lord Business mech/office chair that never appeared in the final version of the LEGO Movie. It looked like a fun model so I tried my hand at constructing it digitally. Reference picture! I couldn't figure out how the two arms in the back were attached for the life of me, so I just omitted them. Someone on BZP said that 20 minutes were stripped off of the LEGO Movie to make its length more reasonable for release. given how finalized this chair design (and the render of it on the cup) is I think it is safe to assume it appeared in that lost time. 5. "Will Arthuriel ever stop to annoy the world with posts about the L.M.S. Explorer and will he finally create something else (actually I did^^)? Then tune in and find out next week. Same Arth Channel. Same Arth Time." The topic is based on this blog post, that I originally made in back in 2013: https://rockraidersunited.com/blogs/entry/1105-list-of-probably-every-lms-explorer-moc-on-the-internet/ I created this list, because I wanted to know, how many MOCs of the L.M.S. Explorer (or ships, which are based on the LMS Explorer) can be found on the internet. Maybe some of you are also interested in this. Therefore I made this originally available via a blog post. In almost every case I've found a picture to proof the existence of a MOC. In each category the models are sorted after the year of their release. Overview (2013-Oct-10): this list contains 29 entries (Update 2015-07-31: in some cases the links don't work anymore. In other news: I haven't found any new MOCs so far). (2021-11-26): time for another update. Some new MOCs enter the list and I add new working links for some of the older entries (sadly some entries don't have a working replacement). Summary: LEGO MOCs (16 entries) Non-LEGO MOCs (10 entries) Unfinished/ WIP MOCs (10 entries) Finished/ unfinished MOCs without pic proofs (3 entries) Random other L.M.S. Explorer (probably?) related stuff I found while updating this thread (2 entries) Lego MOCs (digital and real ones) 1. Explorer Rooms by Arthuriel separate rooms of the spaceship made by me based on sources like the Intro or Outro of the Rock Raiders computer game year of construction: 2013 (bridge), 2019-2020 (hangar bay and teleport room), 2020 (reactor room) Do they have an RRU thread? Kinda, the bridge can be found via my 1:1 L.M.S. Explorer thread (including download), but the other rooms aren't complete (especially the reactor room since the scales are all over the place) and I only made them as a basis for baraklava so he could further modify them for his game Manic Miners (it's a really good remake of Rock Raiders btw). bridge: https://rockraidersunited.com/gallery/image/5429-lms-explorer-bridge-12-picture-1/ hangar bay: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/580269696369164301/756224976020963468/hangar_bay.jpg teleport room: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/580269696369164301/756225018110935060/teleport_hall.jpg the other side of the hangar bay and teleport room: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/580269696369164301/756225046183280770/teleport_hall_opposite_wall.jpg reactor room (attempt): https://rockraidersunited.com/uploads/monthly_2021_03/large.reactor_room_scale_differences.jpg.0486e32160e225112f7a08a86715f107.jpg 10. L.M.S. Explorer model/manual by Thomkok23 currently the RRU user Thomkok23 is trying to make to make a new Studio 2.0 model that also serves as a step by step manual. Fixing bugs and misplaced bricks is also part of the process. project start: 2019 and ongoing Does it have an RRU thread? Kinda since Thomkok23 posted the progress of the project in one of my threads: https://rockraidersunited.com/topic/3082-11-scale-lms-explorer-ldrawstudio-20-file-downloads-2021-10-21-oh-hey-this-thread-is-10-years-old-and-still-going/page/7/?tab=comments#comment-138962 Finished/ unfinished MOCs without pic proofs (maybe this category is a bit dubious, because basically everybody could claim to have a finished/unfinished LMS Explorer) 1. LMS Explorer by kris220b year of construction: unclear (long gone now according to kris220b, which could mean anything since the first version of LDD till maybe 2008 or 2009) In one comment under a youtube video (link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKX-ZHYb09I) this user claimed to have build the LMS Explorer in LDD on an old laptop, but sadly the save is long gone now. 2. LMS Explorer by wordsarecool year of construction: 2008 I recently (2021) found this archived Roblox thread while updating this thread: https://archive.froast.io/forum/3342321 3. LMS Explorer scaled to human size in Minecraft by Arthuriel year of construction: 2012 Basically I started to build the LMS Explorer on the server from CTXXTC, but one day the server wasn't available anymore and therefore the ship is left unfinished. Random other L.M.S. Explorer (probably?) related stuff I found while updating this thread 1. 3D fanmade models that remind me a bit of an entry in this thread that it broken now (I don't know, which one though, lol). I found these models and they remind me of another entry. I don't know, if the people who uploaded the model, where the original creators. L.M.S. Fleet from Michael Godzina. link (based on the source code I found two years/dates: 2007 and 2014): https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model/b1c48faf4693ec7da131491eebff98b/LMS-Fleet L.M.S. Explorer from Blue Phang (originally Nateel) from 2007 (based on that I think that the previous entry is also from 2007): https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model/14897ecc169179a6ce70586e8c088da/LMS-Explorer The last link I found via a 3D model search engine called 3dmdb: https://3dmdb.com/ 2. lockedmc Minecraft server from 2021 (since it's version 1.16.5) I also found a minecraft server/world and one part of the map reminded me of the hangar bay from the L.M.S. Explorer. I could be completely wrong though. link: https://mcl.ist/server/lockedmc.com:25565 Note: There are probably more MOCs etc. from the LMS Explorer out there, that I don't know of, because the users keep them privately and don't make them public. One counter argument to this could be, that in most cases a user would make a LMS Explorer model public, because... ...well... it's TEH LMS EXPLORER and if you question it, Chief will hit ya in da face ; ). Okay, jokes aside. It's just my theory and therefore it's unknown, how many MOCs are out there, but this list is a small attempt to archivate them : ) I hope, that there will be more versions of the LMS Explorer in the future, which will look even more awesome.

How To Install LEGOLAND on a 64-bit Computer

As most of you may know, LEGOLAND is one of those annoying games that is perfectly 32-bit in every regard, except for its installer -- it's 16-bit, which basically means it's impossible to run on a 64-bit computer, regardless of what you try. For the longest time, most people believed the only way to solve this was by installing it from one computer and copying the files to another, but you lose the registry values in the process. I thought about writing an alternate installer, but I can't figure out how to extract any of the files manually. Thanks to the guys at ReactOS though, I found a simple way of doing it. First, you must copy all of the files from your disc to the hard drive. Now download this file. Extract and place it in the directory where you copied all the game files to, and launch via it. It's basically a 32-bit version of the InstallShield V3 setup program. Install as you typically would, and the game should be good to go! Word of advice though, this is also one of those that ignores the default installation directory and just puts it into C:Program Files instead of C:Program Files (x86), so you may want to fix that. I don't know if that's a quirk with you, but it is for me. Enjoy the game!

Hello all, Since my last post four more models have been ripped. Much to my surprise, these models came in many more pieces than I expected. I was also surprised to find the toll that ripping has already taken on my hard drive, despite the low number of characters that have been ripped, my folder where the rips are stored already totals 625 MB. It seems that the number of textures used in the cantina are to blame which each texture costing about 1-4 MB. There is also an issue with the battle droids where some of the parts of their legs are missing. I also need to fix the bartender as for I realized I have the wrong head piece (the current one has a different facial expression). In my next post, I will be discussing and diving into the structure and format of the unusual GHG models that The Complete Saga uses. GHGs are painful, dsdude123

The Sins of LEGO Island 2

LEGO Island 2 is a hilariously strange beast under the hood. Here's some fun things I've noticed while poking around. First, the game is hardcoded as hell. All the assets themselves are stored in the bob/bod files, but absolutely all of the information linking them together in any way is in the exe. The exe is filled with huge lists of file paths for every asset in each bob/bod file. The exception seems to be textures - these are stripped of meaningful names and referenced by number (like, say, text420.tga instead), and all the info on what textures go on what models, where those models are located, etc is all in the exe. But each level in the game seems to be pretty much entirely isolated from the rest. There's a small amount generic assets shared around, but 99% of the time, if an asset - a texture, model, whatever - is used in multiple levels, it's just duplicated, saved in each bob/bod individually. You know all the different hats the NPCs have, and how you can swap them around in any level with NPCs? And how trees/plants/sign posts can be swapped around in the same manner? And how there's usually 3-5 levels of detail (LODs) for each of these? Those are hundreds and hundreds of models, collision files, and textures - and that's fine, but all of that is entirely duplicated for every scene that uses them. Duplicated in the bobs/bods, taking up hard drive space (and what was likely not an insignificant amount in 2001), and of course that means a lot of duplicated stuff in the exe too. This also means the game wastes a lot of time re-loading assets that already had their duplicates loaded for the previous level. But wait, there's more silly duplication of assets! There are some exceptions like the standard minifigure model, but generally, if two models are identical, but merely have different textures, the meshes and collision files are duplicated anyway. So for example, every minifigure has a unique model for their head, as they have unique face textures... And each of those has several LODs... And alllllll of those are once again duplicated per level they're used in. Minifigure heads alone account for hundreds and hundreds of duplicate files. But there's sillier examples. There's two switches you flip in the Brickster's Palace minigame - and they account for four models. Wait, what, four? Yep - switch 1 up, switch 1 down, switch 2 up, switch 2 down. Because apparently sharing a model and then changing its rotation when it's flipped is too hard. There's plenty of other silly things like this, but I think one deserves special mention... Every single asteroid in the Asteroid Belt minigame is its own 3D model. I'm serious. There are 235 3D models for asteroids, and 235 corresponding collision files. They're divided into three sets/variations - 66 copies of asteroid variation A, 70 copies of asteroid variation B, and 99 copies of asteroid variation C. But it gets better, variations B and C are identical! (Thanks to Will for using a tool of his to automatically check which of the asteroid files were identical to each other.) So instead of just having two asteroid models (with collision files) for a total of four files, there are 470 files being loaded to achieve the same result. There's also a lot of inefficiencies in the models themselves. Excess polygons, using a bunch of smaller textures instead of a larger atlas... But here's my favorite. You know that skeleton in the desert on Adventurer's Island, holding a gem? It's a pretty low poly model (though it could be lower poly and look identical), with 1416 triangles... And 3065 vertices. Wat. Let's take a look at the UV map... The face is the only part of the model that's properly UV mapped. The rest is just given the plain white texture (text027.tga if you wanna try swapping it out), and while it's UV mapped, it's done in a pretty horrible way. If you're curious about the details, read this article, originally published in 2003 (two years after LEGO Island 2 was released) but still relevant today: http://www.ericchadwick.com/examples/provost/byf1.html http://www.ericchadwick.com/examples/provost/byf2.html The bits relevant to the vertex count are explained in part 2. In short, splits/seams/breaks in UV maps split/duplicate vertices... And the UVs for the skeleton's body are doing more splits than a masochistic gym instructor. What you're seeing in the first image there are all the triangles for the body UV'd on top of each other. If you lay them out separately (and I've moved the face elsewhere as it's not relevant), it looks something like this... This is a UV map straight out of hell. Just by fixing it up I got the vertex count of the model down from 3065 to 1686. And as you might expect, that's not an isolated case... Lots of models are like this. More coming, maybe. I think the point has been made.

    100% Completion

I'm sure somebody else has. I've heard people reference specific levels where 100% is impossible and what the requirements are but I could just never find a list until now so I really appreciate your help. I was messing around trying to edit the .cfg file to make 100% achievable. By setting the importance of the ECs to 70 and the timer to 0, I was able to get 100% pretty easily, but for some reason, with that change, the % of RRs teleported was always less than 100, although I was doing the exact same thing. The percents on the score screen starting from that 28% you asked about and going clockwise from there are: Rock Drilled, Base Size (Number of buildings, not sure tool store counts), Ore (which may refer to only the ore that has already been revealed because I've gotten 100% on that without drilling all walls), Air Supply (Always 100% in levels where you don't lose oxygen), Energy Crystals, Defense Record, Caverns Found (higher one), Rock Raiders Teleported (not exactly sure how this is calculated). I was trying to get 100% for everything I possibly could and so I decided to just set the value of the timer quota a lot higher. I tried to estimate how long it would take to get everything (drill all walls, get all ore, etc.) and figured it would take about 30 minutes or 1800 seconds. I worked it out that if there were 72,000 seconds in the timer quota to begin with and 1800 were used, I'd have 97.5% of the total available seconds left and since the original importance was 20, I get 19.5 points for the timer. This would mean a total of 99.5 points which would round up to 100%. You can see in the picture below that I made a mistake and accidentally set the importance to 10 meaning that there is only 90 total importance points instead of the usual 100 and I grossly overestimated the necessary time as you can see it took me closer to 15 minutes than 30, but this edit did allow me to get the 100% for every section except defense record which makes since because there are no rock monsters or slimy slugs in the level. Cirevam beat me to what the percentage asked about counts for but I've included the other percentages too

    LEGO Rock Raiders Map Design

I think the principles that make a LegoRR map fun do not depend too much on the map design itself. It is rather the atmosphere produced by the textures, the interface and all that. A map just has to be irregular so that it really looks like a cave, not like an artificial room. There should also be irregular terrain: when you make up the map in your mind, also form a special terrain (e.g. a mountain in the west, river canyons, lava valleys, ...). If you know how, you can make really interesting level objectives. One thing I found out was - I guess no one has ever done that yet - that you can make walls crumble if something special happened. By that you could create an objective that is actually finished easily but suddenly a row of walls disappear and the level goes on! (If you want to know more about that, PM me ) These are the things I pay attention to when I created all my maps (for examples have a look at my maps in the forum).

Things We Know About Modding LRR

I've been having those modding delusions at night again. I guess you can disregard my post...
