Vintage Licence "To drive a Motor Car"

Hi, I'm (relatively) new here. I've been following these forums for about a year or so without a profile, and I decided to finally do something with my profile. So, without futher ado, here's the first mod-... thingy that I created: As you can probably see, It's unfinished, but I wanted to hear some opinions about the general Idea. If you see something (except for the Font) I could improve, please let me know. The backdrop is a test, it is intended to look like an 1920's garage.

Alpha Team press release from NDL

Found this on archives of the website for NDL, the company that made the NetImmerse/Gamebryo engine, which Alpha Team runs on. (Fun fact: LU runs on it as well.) Nothing too interesting but I thought I'd post it anyway. http://web.archive.org/web/20010201192800/http://www.ndl.com/LEGO.htm http://web.archive.org/web/20010406143344/http://ndl.com/news/0011a.html

Undertale + Conway's Game of Life

Links Undertale + Conway's Game of Life Repository About I still have no idea if Undertale's combat system uses some sort of collision geometry for collision-detection, or if it uses a per-pixel method. I think the game is perfect for a per-pixel method. From an efficiency standpoint, checking the 186 pixels behind that adorable little heart should be faster than comparing its position and size to a bajillion fireballs. From a development standpoint, there wouldn't have to be any fiddling with bounding boxes or radii. From a game-play standpoint, false positives are icky, and per-pixel collision has none of that nonsense. So Undertale and per-pixel collision are perfect for each other. I've never developed a per-pixel collision system before, I'm on an HTML Canvas binge, I love Undertale and have been fantasizing about making my own Undertale fights, so I decided to get experimenting over this week's vacation. I made a little scene with a resolution, bullet board, text, and assets to match Undertale's, implemented movement and per-pixel collision detection for the player, and a Conway's Game of Life segment to test the collision. I even made a little game out of it where the player must survive until the Conway's Segment stops evolving. I'm very happy with the results and am scheming to expand upon the idea to make a full Undertale fight segment, probably with a giant robot monster. Not so sure about the architecture of the whole thing. I'm very new to JavaScript and their are so many weird options in it for object-oriented programming and organization.

    The Brickster-Center

So, I was building some of the houses from the GBA version of LI2, and as I was goofing off, I started building the observation deck of the Info-Center. Then, I got the idea for a sort of brickster Info-Centre; a more conventional fortress for the Brickster. Unlike the Info-Center, the Brickster-Center is larger, darker, full of vents and shafts, and guarded by Bricksterbots. I didn't bother putting in any minifigures because I don't like having to compromise with other decals when making a minifigure in LDD which is why I sometimes use custom decals in my MOCs. Anyway, here it is Extra Pictures: Credit to Pranciblad for suggesting the color palette to me. I guess you could say I kinda "cheated" a little by using Toggle Physics Test to do the curtains and the front window, but I couldn't find any other way to build them without using Developer Mode. This is, actually, one of my most detailed MOCs ever built: It took about a day and a half to make, and its a bit boxy on the sides and back, but it looks pretty much fine to me. I wanted to add some fish-like details to it and have a fish head at the front with the mouth being the entrance, but I don't think I'm skilled enough to do something like that yet. Anyway, enjoy. I won't upload a .LXF because not everyone has developer mode and so if they load it without said mode some of the "cheatsy" bricks will be removed, but I might upload it if enough people want me to.

    The Brickster-Center

The colours you've used for this build would fit better for Blacktron (with the exception of no yellow) than for the Brickster. But then again, the colour palette you chose is much better than the seziure inducing multicoloured mess that is the Brickster's tower on OGEL Island.

    The Brickster-Center

I wanted to, but there wasn't any room for it. I don't know what you mean when you say "Ostentatious"; Its definition is characterized as vulgar display to attract attention. I'm assuming this is supposed to mean how the brickster's structures are random bricks, composed of whatever he could find making them look a bit ugly, causing them to stand out from other structures. I wanted to try the whole "Random Color" thing, but LDD doesn't have any "Random" option, so doing that would be harder. Because of this, I asked prance if he knew what I could do, and then he suggested this color palette. Its dark, not ostentatious, yes, but at least its a simple palette of colors that I could easily place into the model unlike the random color thing where you'd have to select the right colors, make sure they look right, put them in the model, don't make any sequences so it looks like its random, etc. Quis, Mael's not trying to make the Brickster-Center look like something out of the Cool Creations. I see your point... but frankly, MOCs like that suck and Mael wanted to make something good. Which you have! I think random colouring would spoil it; it would look gaudy or eye-bleeding. And bad. The color scheme is good, in that it makes it look like the Brickster without being garbled.

    Lego Time Cruisers comics

Hey thread! It's been a few months. Almost half a year, actually. But good stuff is happening! I happened on some 1995-96 issues of Klick being sold on an Austrian classifieds site. Got in touch with the lady who listed them, sent over some Euros and now they should be coming to me in the mail. Unless the same disaster as last time befalls us, this will be our first look at the original run of the Time Cruisers comic, which we know had at least a slightly different, possibly more story-oriented approach than the 97-onward issues we have. The change was done because the comic kept getting added to new countries where new kids couldn't be left confused. But in the time these issues come from, the comic was only in Austria (or at least, that should be the case). Also some of these will definitely predate the launch of the Time Cruisers theme. Fun stuff! I also came across this, which (incredibly bizarrely) appears to be a complete backup of the Austrian LEGO website in 1997.

You see the thing on the left of the picture on the desk with the monitor? That's my computer. And it's trapped behind a Christmas tree. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaay. :P
