CrystalCore is a rewrite of the classic RockRaiders game so it can run in high resolution on modern systems. Yeah, I know what you are thinking. Not another RockRaiders clone that will never get finished. And you are probably right. Development has slowed down because of bugs and badly written code. I should rewrite bigger parts of this project if I ever want to finish this. I'm not sure if it's worth continuing with this project. So I've decided to post the current status of the project and let you decide whether it's worth or not. Currently it can load Maps and Models of the game and has some basic gameplay implemented. This is a snapshot taken right out of development so some debug information and tests are enabled. Also includes a number of bugs. To run it you need to copy "LegoRR0.wad" and "LegoRR1.wad" into the CrystalCore folder. This is really cool, even better that it uses actual game assets! You should keep going. I've been looking for an OpenRR branch that's suitable enough for a long time since I got fed up with the limitations of the stock game. I'd love to see this get fleshed out enough to become a real LRR replacement for modern systems.3 points -

Weeeeeelll.... in addition to my hauls of Lego and games... ... I also have a laptop. Considerably better than my old one - it is a hand-me-down (which one? Both ) as my sister got a new laptop and I've been given her old one. So yeaaaaah... I've been given a lot (Note: I'm writing this post on it. The advantage of family hand-me-downs means you only need to delete anime pics and everything else is good to go ) Also, I got given AOE3 by Xiron. Thanks! (And is it any coincidence that FP's updates were updated and announced for Christmas Day - okay, I'll shut up now before I degrade into nonsensical scribbles of hype )2 points -

Looks really good and probably the closest remake to the original I've seen. Props for making it load original assets from the WAD files. If you're worried about it not being finished, the best thing to do would be to release the source to the community to work on as well. Definitely keep working on it mate.1 point -

Astro-Space-Guy reacted to spacepals for a blog entry
Hello! I've been gone from RRU for so long! I'm back now though, and going to try to make more of an effort to be more active on these forums; life's been so wild and busy! How was everything been here on RRU? I have not been able to check in or browse much while i was away. Anything big happen or events of note? :-) I'm excited to be back though! I'd like to make an effort to get to know some of the members here! Hope everyone is doing well, See you soon!1 point -

GHz isn't everything. Generally, newer processors can perform more instructions per clock than older ones. More performance at the same or lower GHz. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Megahertz_myth1 point -

Unitron Deep Space Defender (remix of set 6973)
spacepals reacted to IncogM for a topic
I'm a pretty big fan of the extremely short lived Lego space theme Unitron. The theme only got 4 sets total and 3 of them were only released in the States. They were the original counter-parts to Spyrius, but for whatever reason they didn't stay around anywhere near as long. Since the theme only got 4 sets, it ended up lacking a really big spaceship. Since I'm not really a fan of the Ice Planet theme, I decided to take the awesome big ship, the Deep Freeze Defender, and build it in Unitron colors. I also modified it to better fit in with Unitron's other sets. I've dubbed it the Deep Space Defender. I built most of it in LDD first so I would have an easier time ordering the bricks. I couldn't just swap colors because Ice Planet uses a different balance of white/blue/trans than Unitron uses blue/gray/trans. Heres the actual test build I did to finalize the design. The middle received the most change here. Finished product: I managed to not take a good picture of the middle section. So heres the LDD. Its got a maneuverable star-fighter vibe to it in person. Satellite dish in the middle section All three segments Rear engine compartment houses the same spiffy auto-launching little scout vehicle that the original set had Front pod attached to rear engine, kind of a gunboat feel to it Next to prototype1 point -

This is quite an old thread but with the help of RobExplorien's descriptions I was able to create the following image: In the background you can see the IGCOLLID.BVB from the RACE0R1 folder. The red line is the AI path from the file R1_F_0.RRB. There were all three rounds in one file. I used only the stating position and the first three values from each k_27 structure. x and y are short divided by 256 and z is byte divided by 16.1 point -
