Recreating LEGO Island Progress Update - Week 2 I was hoping to get a little more than just this done on the island over Easter weekend. But Mechwarrior Online had a challenge event this weekend, so I spent most of my free time playing that.

    Reskinned Vehicles

How would you feel if I brickified some of the custom vehicles I've made and painted them with LRR colors? Modding has pretty much stopped until an ORR branch that will let me do what I want is released. I'd have to learn how to use Patchman unless people don't care about adding the files manually. Here's something that would be easy to add; the Bulldozer is a few new animations and models and replaces the Loader Dozer entirely. I would improve it a bit before an official release, so please let me know if you want me to do this. Maybe someone will get inspired and develop some stuff too, who knows?

A Review of the LEGO Island Trilogy

Hello everyone! I recently completed the latest episode for my show called Forgotten Games, a series of comedic video game reviews that cover games that not many people may remember. My latest release focuses on the LEGO Island series of games. While they may not be forgotten (especially when it comes to those who use this site), I had received several requests to cover more LEGO games on the show, and my love for them was enough to get me working on another episode. I'd appreciate any feedback you may have. Reviews on more LEGO games from the late 90s and early 2000s will be coming soon! Thanks!

    The LEGO Batman Movie

I like these villain designs a lot because they are so much more "what if we made X, but as a lego" as opposed to "we must recreate X in exact detail, and then print it onto a minifig"

    The LEGO Batman Movie

Somebody on reddit pointed out that Killer Croc (between the Riddler and Catwoman) has the head of the classic lego crocodile. That's absolutely hilarious. Also, check out Clayface. Gonna be super cool to see how they animate him. Mr. Freeze in the background on the right too.

    LEGO Island REDUX

Let's see what's knew at the info centre today. Is that the score cube I see? Let's get a closer look! Why, just look at that glorious score room! It's so beautiful I could almost cry. Anyhow, I'm sure I'm not the only one who noticed that the door we entered through wasn't around before. Let's go back and take a look. Rotating doors, cool! We can have lots of fun going around in that! On a more serious note, this is what I've got new to show so far. The rotating doors room is still a WIP, and for the record those doors are 100% custom, it was too messy trying to merge 4 LEGO doors. You may or may not have noticed that the ceiling is considerably low in the rotating doors room in comparison to the other two rooms you've seen. Why is that? Well, because I'm attempting to stay true to the original. I'm still working on the transitionals from low roof to higher roof, so I won't show any wider views for now. Do you guys think I should add the arrow signs to the rooms? I didn't put them in because well, they will be rather pointless.

I don't think we'll need those arrows anymore, however, I think they could be put in as a decoration, paying tribute to the original.

Wouldn't it be simple to make those both options? one is the modern and traditional WASD, the other is a myst-like control scheme.

How to get Lego Island working foolproof in Windows Vista and Windows 7

I'm not sure the core game was actually altered for those - I've got three copies; one from 1998, one with files dating from 2000 but released in Encore's 2001 LEGO Adventure Pack (the disc printing has both 2000 and 2001 copyright dates), and another from 2001 (the promotional Cheez Mania thing). The core game files on the first two are the same and from 1997, the only differences and new bits are other things like launchers/installers. The third one's disc seems to have warped a bit, so I can't read it, but it's just the standard game with a tacky launcher that advertises snacks.

Recreating LEGO Island Progress Update - Week 1 I started by flattening an island, 5 bricks above sea level, into a very rough shape of LEGO Island. Next I worked very carefully to recreate this square of roads near the bank to be as accurately sized as possible. I'm going to try and post an update like this every weekend on my progress. Stay tuned!

    LR2 Custom Car Unpacker

A few days ago, I was alerted, thanks to Firedude34, to a conspicuous, yet easily filled, gap in the LEGO Racers 2 tool library. It is thus that I present, for your entertainment and edification, the LEGO Racers 2 Custom Car Unpacker ("CCDU.") Download Instructions Download and extract CCDU.zip Locate your LEGO Racers 2 "SaveGame" file, which is normally situated in DocumentsGamesLEGO Racers 2Saved Games. Drag the file to "CCDU.exe", and voila! All your custom cars (.CCD files) have been extracted. You will find them in the folder "[save-file name] Car Files" Notes: If an Adventure Mode car is present for a particular world, a duplicate exists (last among the car files for that world.) This is a peculiarity of LEGO Racers 2. I deemed it most convenient for the program to overwrite any preexisting custom car files, should they share their names with those being extracted. Thus, if you intend to unpack your save-game once more, and want to save an already-unpacked car for later, you must either move it to another folder or change its file-name. Program written in Python and compiled via Py2EXE. And special thanks to Xiron, for listing the offsets of certain .CCD files, thus making the naming feature a synch.

why not make it a "do not touch" sign on the box?

    LEGO Island REDUX

It was extracted using QuickBMS. For the signs, so far I like Dazz and Yajmo's ideas the best. Even if the original controls aren't implemented for the rest of the island, classic interior mode can still be a thing to enable & disable in the options. Perhaps there can be two states to the info centre, if you enter the centre while classic mode is activated, then they are there, if disabled then they would just be sitting in a box.

pun? Maybe there could be a crate full of the old arrow signs sitting in the corner of the room or something as a call back?

I think he's talking about the interiors being orthographic. The current setup is the same as the original LEGO Island where you click the arrow posts to turn (to face the elevator/score cube/etc). But with Xiron's 3D models, it would be a perspective first-person setup where you can actually walk around the interiors and interact with objects and such. As far as controls go, I'm considering adding the option to switch between FPS controls and original controls. However, if original controls were implemented, you'd lose the functionality to look up/down and also the functionality to look left or right without actually turning.

This is incredible. I love the look and feel of it all. Where did you get the images for the score cube? I couldn't find any in the game's files that weren't super low-res. Also, I don't think it needs the arrow signs anymore considering that they would be pointless, but it's your call

How to get Lego Island working foolproof in Windows Vista and Windows 7

Are you running CONFIG.EXE, ISLE.EXE, and LEGOIsle.exe all as admin? In my experience, if you don't, the settings changes you make in CONFIG.EXE may not actually apply due to weird VirtualStore stuff. You can make them always run as admin by going to Properties > Compatibility, and checking the box for "Run this program as an administrator"

I still have the other 3 rooms (although it is kind of one room now...) on the 1st floor to do, but they shouldn't be as complicated to do. As well, it's a long weekend where I'm not busy, so I should have some time in there to get them done.

Unity and Unreal can be very similar and very different. However, Unreal uses C++ and Unity uses C#, and I'm much better with C# than I am with C++. Also, we use Unity at my job which is why I'm relatively proficient in it. I think Unity has a lot to offer and more when it comes to a relatively simple game like this one, but Unreal would be the better choice for a AAA game or a game that needed better graphics or lighting. Whoops, gotta fix this... These are all good suggestions. I'm hoping to have actual underwater terrain for the next update so hopefully that issue will sort itself out. I'll check out the pizza throwing in the other games and see how I can improve it. Also, it's weird because the car physics seemed a lot better when I was testing it compared to the v0.9 build so I'll have to see what happened there

    BIONICLE RETURNING 2015

It looks like even adding green doesn't get people to buy brown sets. Targets and some Walmarts aren't carrying the full range of sets. Even some LEGO stores aren't. Also, the books and graphic novels are discontinuing after the presently announced third installments. Of course, it's really hard to say anything for certain, but it sure looks like BIONICLE is burning out again already and I can't say I'm disappointed if that really is the case. I'd be quite happy to see 2017 truncated to a small winter wave and call things good - just so long as we get our Makuta. I was actually rather horrified when the leaks first dropped the news of the theme's return in 2014, and only the Legend short that premiered at NYCC swayed me the other way. But that was a two-minute thing released far in advance of the toyline. It was supposed to be a primer for the greater things to come. Instead its the best thing to come out of G2 and everything afterward has been a slow-dawning disappointment, dead-ending in Journey to One. Sometimes the best thing you can do for something you love is let it rest in peace.

How did you guess!? I've only got a few (just 2, unless you want to count all the 6? 5? versions of that one house you can click on to change it) buildings left to build from LEGO Island. But I think I'm going to wait till later to build those, and start working on the actual island now.

Thanks for posting this and supporting my videos! I have to admit that my Lego Racers 1 and 2 reviews weren't as good as they could have been. My newer reviews are a lot better. I will get to reviewing a TON more Lego games like Stunt Rally, Rock Raiders, Creator, Island Extreme Stunts, and others. Thank you again Cloudstrife987!
