    Rock raiders sound software

Opening one of the sound files with a hex editor indicates that DDI used a cracked version of Sound Forge. That's just for sounds, not music, but maybe they used it for the music tracks too. INFOICRD 1999-08-18 IENG Deepz0ne ISFT Sound Forge 4.5

I'm curious also, but may I just note that whatever they used has almost certainly been replaced by something easier to use and more powerful. I think the only recourse might be to ask them at this point. That might be tough, who knows. Let's be creepy! I did some digging on the three main credited artists; John Saull, Joseph Harper and Jon Harrison. I might have some leads for you if you want to ask. Here are their video-game portfolios: John Saull Jon Harrison Joseph Harper Yikes, times look tough for these three. You could start by emailing prior employers for contact details, but I think you'd struggle as a number are defunct. If MobyGames is to be believed, Jon Harrison seems to have gone to the digital marketing agency, TAMBA. The linked article says "Prior to that, Jon worked for many years in the animation and games industry with stints at Blitz Studios, Runecraft and Gremlin Graphics.". This is consistent with his aforementioned employment history on MobyGames which cites Blitz Games and Gremlin; so the details match. There's also: "Jon has also worked on several broadcast projects including Spooks and Fightbox for the BBC and major adverts and promotional films for LEGO " so I think that's one found. Boring job, but maybe he likes it. A few more prudent searches reveal his work email, looking for coders for viral games (huh, go figure): [email protected] ..and his Google+ (so relevant): https://plus.google.com/102901351122738596806/posts Anyway, here's Jon now: Now the other two. Here's where we start to take small leaps. Look at this profile: https://vimeo.com/joeharper Well, maybe it's our guy. The location is plausible; DDI were UK based, and in a video, he credits John Saull as an animator, so there's that. Maybe a big coincidence.. I turned to LinkedIn, and found this: https://uk.linkedin.com/in/john-saull-52539022 which links to his Vimeo profile/showreel portfolio: https://vimeo.com/johnsaull Where he identifies as a: Character Animator Softimage, MAYA, 3dsMAX Script writer Sound designer They're definitely friends/coworkers, as the same content features in both their showreels and Joe has liked one of John's showreels too, so that's something. We know from the limited credits on MobyGames that John did animation as well as sound design, so this is also plausible. A quick Google reverse search reveals social media at last; here's our John Saull's Twitter account, we know this from the matching picture, should be easy to ask him casually there! No reverse search results on Joseph though.. Here's Joseph now: And here's John now: I'm struggling to find more. You've got a few accounts to hit there though, so if all else turns up bust, have a go. Please be polite though!

    LEGO Portal Racers

More stuff. UI things for the boards and modules: Some more UI stuff, looks like some of it might be to explain how each part has three versions/can be upgraded: High res logo: Panels for an intro comic of sorts, not sure what order they go in but the text is below so it should be easy to figure out (they were all crammed into one big atlas texture, they're split up here due to imgur turning the full thing into a jpg even with the option enabled to upload high quality images): And here's all the text for the game... Sorta. I used a couple different Unity ripping programs, the one that got text ripped properly didn't get this particular file, while the one that did get it didn't really spit it out in a very readable form. It's all there though: http://pastebin.com/DChF6cMy Here's the interesting-ish bits: Yeah, the backstory is pretty much the same as LEGO Racers, lol.

  15. @HHRoblox: Do you want to know, how the front und the back of the ship look like (e.g. more pictures of the LMS Explorer) or do you want to see a 1:10 model of the ship, too (because I have also built a 1:8 model: @RRDocs: Thank you :). @thetoolraider: I know Lego Lego cuusoo, but according to the cuusoo guidelines there are only original creations allowed (here is the link: http://lego.cuusoo.com/guidelines ). This means, that they don't want another Remake etc. of a Lego series. There's another problem, too: even my 1:8 model of the LMS Explorer contains ~5400 pieces, which means that it would be too expensive as a lego model.

  16. @Extreme: You have forgotten the sharp rocks at the bottom of the waterfall . @Snow Monk: Currently I have no time etc. to continue this project, but the idea with different modules could be helpful (however I have to figure out if this is even workable on such a scale). Maybe it would be more interesting to build just one section (like the section with the bridge on top of it) of the ship with a inner structure in real life, whereas building some rooms etc. in programs like LDD should help a bit. PS: In my opinion MLCAD is faster and better than LeoCAD (e.g.: loading time), but it has more difficult controls. It's like "pick your poison": a fast program with difficult controls or a slow program with easier controls .

  17. Hmm, I don't make animations, but I have built a separate model of the bridge room (a better version than the room (which looks ugly) in my LMS Explorer). for uploading: I think that this is very important, because I would hate it too, if people would tell that they have built this model in LeoCAD. Maybe my first idea is better. That means that I will give it only to people who are really interested in and promise that they will tell that it is my recreation of the LMS Explorer from Lego Rock Raiders.
    1 point
  18. @codsniper: I think that it is possible but extremly expensive. I only built the hull (and the bridge room) and there are more than 55.000 pieces. A whole ship with a inner construction would need 500.000 and more pieces. Maybe it would cost 50.000 euros (minimum) because it's so huge. That means that it would be easier and much cheaper to construct it out of paper etc. . @jg325: Indeed, it would be ca. 8 metres long in reality and in LDView it looks almost white because of the lighting at the light grey bricks. The LMS Explorer files: Hmm, maybe I could give this file to people who want to finish it or use it for animations ect. or I upload it in the download section so everyone can use it

  19. I found suitable door parts (part number is 4511) in LeoCAD and created a 1/2 studge wide gap for them. I don't know, if this would be realistic, but a working real life LEGO evalator in the L.M.S. Explorer will be another story . Hmm, I hope that there are somewhere these weird octogonal slope bricks in LeoCAD. I never found them (not even a normal 2*2*1 octogonal brick), but on the other hand I found the door pieces some minutes ago^^.
    1 point
  20. Okay, I have solved the problem with the pictures (I have figured out this stuff with the image link etc.). Yes, the shape of the evalator entry is different. I think it doesn't matter which one I take. for the evalator door: Now the real "fun" starts : Exactly where is the door?^^ In the extended Rock Raiders intro are two interesting scenes (http://www.youtube.c...h?v=xgzYIw5vu7Y): 5:25 and 5:39 Here is my analysis: 5:25 5:39 scene 1: door is on the row where the 1*2 grille tiles are scene 2: door is in front of the 1*2 grille tiles row summary: happy guessing. It's totaly random . Maybe it's a magic door which changes the position itself and doesn't need any space^^

  21. I had some problems with the front dish, because in my opinion it looks like that : transparent-blue + a bit transparent purple + grey = WTF?! (Maybe I should play dice to determine the color ) I also compared the bridge room from LEGO with my recreation and I think that my one is 2 or 4 studges too long. If it is 2 studges too long, I can build a smaller shaft. If it is 4 studges too long, I don't need a shaft (aargh, too many contradictions^^). PS: Hmm, there are only 27 views on the site of my LMS Explorer project on mocpages until now. I hope that more people are going to watch this thing : http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/289436 PPS: Help? Yes, I need a program, which is stable, can handle ~57.000 bricks and is very fast. I can do all this changes at the LMS Explorer, but LeoCAD is extremly slow at this brick number and MLCAD is a bit faster, but it has ugly controls. It's easier (and faster) to build this ship in reality with an inner construction than building this thing in a program . PPPS: I built just for fun the bridge in a new file, because I wanted to know, how fast LeoCAD can be and after ~25 minutes I had contructed the following thing (the speed difference overwhelmed me ? Problem: I made this screenshot, because the program crashed at this moment PPPPS: Okay, I have build the bridge and it contains 1049 bricks. Lair, we were both wrong, because the evalator is 7 studges deep and not 6 or 8^^. The base of the chair looks in the extended intro (1:56 - 1:58) more like dark grey, but in the real life version like light grey. The shell seems to be light grey (there are also some dark grey pieces) and the quality of the pictures is a bit low. Maybe it is the intern screenshot programm from LDView, which causes that (I took JPEG, because BMP etc. would be too big).

  22. @Lair: Okay, this is the prove for the bridge model . ( I hope that there are more pictures from TLG ). Now i will modify the bridge, because there are some mistakes (wrong colors etc.): P.S.: Aaargh, LeoCAD is really slow and MLCAD has complicated controls . P.P.S.: Hmm, I was coloring the floor tiles (~15 bricks) when the program crashed. In general that means a really slow advancement and lots of "fun" (changing 5 -10 bricks, saving, changing 5-10 bricks, saving, program crashes etc.). Maybe I should make a break or I will continue this with a slow speed. The best solution would be, if I already had the whole bricks in real life, but that means that I need a sponsor (TLG^^?) or lots of money. for further explanation of "fun" I recommend the following article from magmawiki (it's a wiki for the game Dwarf Fortress, which I sometimes play): https://dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/DF2014:Losing @antilles: Thank you. I am glad that there are many people who like my project .

  23. There were waves six bricks high! THat sounds about right... or maybe not, I don't know. The red and green panels make it feel like it's eight bricks deep, so I'm not sure. It's got a flat brick as a roof though. Here's the model. It shows bricks I've never seen before. If we can get someone from LEGO to show us all the photos...

  24. I already wrote in the first post that I am going to add some things like the teleporter etc., because the ship isn`t finished yet. I found two scenes which shows the elevator: 5:28 and 5:40 in the extended intro. I think the evalator is 6 studs deep, 12 studs wide and ~6 bricks high.

  25. @Lair: Okay, you are right . There is Turqoise in LeoCAD. I don´t know, why I used the wrong colors. Maybe I thought "Hmm, I had build 10.000 pieces yet and used the wrong colors... ...aargh, I´m too lazy to recoloring the whole thing. I will do this later" Jeah, I can do this now and recoloring is easy, but there are ~57.000 bricks in wrong colors. for the bridge: Here is another problem: Maybe it is more logical if there will be 11 windows instead 12, but in the outro it looks like 12. The low resolution of the video can be a reason. And yes, there are round elbowed pieces... .... which I dicovered after finishing the bridge . I searched shaft parts in LeoCAD, but I didn´t find the original ones. Summary: Thanks for your constructive critisizm and your comment. The general problem is that LeoCAD gets really slow with a higher piece number and adding or changing pieces can be really annoying, but I will try to realize the following points: [x]find and destroy atlantis;) (just a joke, but some people will remember this point from Homer Simpson´s to-do list ) [ ]adding the teleporter [ ]recolor the whole ship [ ]correct some flaws etc. [ ]adding other things ( e.g.: Chief´s chair) [x]watching the extended version (I think it was August 2011). This is a good tipp, because the video show a lot of details in higher resolution etc. (e.g. the teleporter etc.). [ ]adding other tasks to this list P.S.: My crew number is just a long guess and my Rock Raider manual have been broken after a few years and I lost it later, so I don´t know, where I can find a reliable source for this information. Maybe you got this information from the manual, but I really want to know the crew number of the whole ship . P.P.S.: Changing the colors in MLCAD will be easier (there is a list with every single piece in the model), but it´s a crazy task too . @Toot etc.: Thank you . The main problem is that building the L.M.S. Explorer in real life means: lots of parts--->lots of money ( 20.000€ and more) or sponsoring Maybe I should try to contact the LEGO Company, but I don´t know, if they would be interested in this project. P.S.: LDD crashed at 18.000 piecesand the price at this point was around 2500 until 3000 €

  26. Actually, I'm more mad that I wasn't the first to build it, and that my estimation of 100,000 bricks was twice the actual size. Oh well. Anyways, wow. This is a true masterpiece. Except the color is all wrong. The teal things are green for some reason. Don't give me that garbage about LeoCad not having teal, it does. Also the hull is light grey aside from a few stripes (the giant flat parts of the bridge), and you colored the silver bricks white unless it rendered like that. Could you get more pictures of the close-up areas? If you can, add Chief's chair in. You even got the size right. The minimodel I made was too long and skinny. ...Well. I don't really have anything to say, Just...epic. ALSO Watch the EXTENDED Rock Raiders intro on youtube. Mmm... you've got a small flaw in your bridge at the base, it only has 11 windows instead of 12... oh well. Edit again: You used green flat bricks where a green elbowed pipe should be used in the bridge, which does exist in leocad. Also in the back of the bridge the elevator shaft is seperated from the slope. Your bridge design is a little messed up in places (well I'm apparently blind lol, but really I think the shaft is different? Please correct me if I'm wrong). I'm being critical of small flaws, but that doesn't mean I'm complaining. I'm just trying to help. The fact you even made this yourself is just epic. [removed because I'm a dipweed who doesn't even know where he got info from] I give you a :af: :af: :af: :af: x9001
