Chapter 2 - Typhonus "Typhonus's Study" I think the title's pretty self-explanatory for this one. Impeccably preserved. The globe is circumscribed by a Belville bucket handle. There's a stud at both ends of every shelf. Each "book" is a 2x2 plate, with a 1x2 slope at the end; 1x2 brown panels span the gaps. Gallifreyan display panels? Typhonus must be a Time Lord, and the Venture Koi is his TARDIS. Good evening.2 points -

Alright, here's what we've found so far. Xiron and I have the same version of the game. I've also installed Iran's version, and compared the two installations and contents of the discs with Beyond Compare. For the sake of simplicity I'll call the version Iran's been using version A, and the version Xiron and I have version B, as the latter seems to be from just a day later. Here's the results for the discs. A on the left, B on the right. Files that are red have differing contents: And the installations - here I'm only showing the files that differ so it'll all fit on screen: Curiously, it seems that the disc with the earlier version of the game was actually burned after the one with the later version of the game. Go figure. I extracted the z27TRX and z42BRP archives and tested those against each other. The only differences were trexvol01.par in z27TRX, and flame1.par in z42BRP, which both had similar changes made. trexvol01.par had these lines removed in version B: [EMITS] trexvol02 And flame1.par had these lines removed in version B: [EMITS] smoke2.par So in version B, this particle effect looks different: (The Brickster's in different places there just because I hit him with a pizza at different points) I haven't checked to see what particle effect was altered in T-Rex Racing but it was something similar. I haven't checked to see what the difference between the two manuals is, either. Also, I can change my resolution a-ok on both versions, so that must be a bug specific to Iran's computer.2 points -

Changelog: v0.1 BETA Full support of *.DAT/*.HDR files extraction (one or all files). LZ2K and DFLT Uncompression files support. *.TEX files preview support (and extract as PNG file). Edit of *.TXT/*.SF/*.SUB/*.CSV files, with Color Syntax (Need to Fix Color Syntax). Basic folder explorer to read the DAT extracted files, and try to Preview/Edit them. Many littles options. v0.1 BETA Download Link (No Readme file included). .NET Framework 4.0 and .NET Framework 2.0 needed (I need to fix for just use .NET Framework 4.0). Please, take in consideration it's a beta version so many things are not finish (Like there is no progress bar when you extract all files of a DAT file). If you have any bug, idea, or you want help me, you feel free to contact me at Pakexplorer[at]gmail.com or through this forum in this topic or PM. Thanks. // Old presentation Topic.1 point -
The 2001 version loads GAMEDATA & MENUDATA folders if an emtpy, valid LEGO.JAM file is present
Zeb reacted to Iran for a topic
^^^^^^^^^^^ The 2001 version loads GAMEDATA & MENUDATA folders if an emtpy, valid LEGO.JAM file is present Make sure the LEGO.JAM file is a valid file else it gives you an error messagebox. Seems like the game first loads LEGO.JAM and then loads any missing resources from the GAMEDATA & MENUDATA folder if they aren't inside LEGO.JAM MODERATOR EDIT - Here's an empty LEGO.JAM file ready for you to download and use, courtesy of Xiron: http://www.rockraidersunited.com/files/lego-racers-1/lego-racers-empty-jam-r191/ Alternate link (same file, just on the old file hosting part of the site): http://oresome.rockraidersunited.com/download/349 Just putting this in the OP so people can find it easier.1 point -

"LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens" announced!
aidenpons reacted to McJobless for a topic
No, I don't. I'm the last person to defend Tt Games/Tt Fusion but...what? Do you understand who the target market is at all and why they throw in these exaggerated jokes? Tt doesn't use cutscenes to stick close the source media, it uses them to reward the player for completing a portion of gameplay (or to annoyingly point out an element of gameplay I can already f****ing see thanks Tt). Children love the exaggerated stuff (hell, I thought a lot of LEGO Jurassic World was hilarious as well), but they're not old enough to understand subtext or themes (which Tt chops out anyway since they can't show the entire films in their games). If you don't understand why people die in Jurassic Park, then all you have is a movie about a lot of people getting eaten, and that's not fun for the kids (Hint: Jurassic Park is about survival fittest, chaos theory, the human need for control and so forth, ideas way above the kiddies). If you're coming to a Tt Game to enjoy the "ambiance" of the original story, you're in the wrong place. These games are NOT designed to cover the source material accurately. It's formula-designed entertainment for 5 year olds, but they use licensed material to both give the games credibility and give them content ideas. Yeah, it is just you. Again, the target market don't understand the themes or context. Hell, they probably understood the stories better when there was no dialogue and all the motions were even more exaggerated. The kids are focused on the PLAYER STORY rather than the CONTEXTUAL STORY; they care more about the cool things they did in the gameplay and what they're learning (I remember a specific instance where my cousin couldn't stop shouting at me about some unique character interaction in one of the Batman DS games that he loved). The cutscenes are there to give them a break, as otherwise they might burn out and stop playing because they're tired. "Tonal Dissonance" is not the problem with Tt Games' Design department; that's a side effect of applying a "popular" formula on top of different movies. I got a great laugh out of this one. Your average Tt Episode should last at least 1 and a Half times as long as the original movie, if you're quick player. Kids are going to take hours. They need to be rewarded for retention. Just keep that all in mind. You're not complaining about the gameplay. You're complaining about their representation of source material through the cutscene gags. It's an entirely different area of the design and Tt Games keep them clearly separated. There's nothing wrong with their story side; Tt Game's design department is just absolute s*** at designing engaging gameplay loops for children.1 point -

Definitely, but I'd bet it also has something to do with Lego's present reputation as a unequivocal good in the world. Only us wacko fans actually think they're worth finding any sort of fault with. Us and a few radical activists.1 point -

I will always prefer LOM for its sets and characters, but I can still enjoy MM's storyline too. Just because these builds are neat doesn't mean his opinion needs to change. EDIT: the GTA Brickfilm I posted earlier has its own fake cover!1 point -

Also, there's several places where weird textures are applied to things. Here's a few of them: Another example is the boat in the parachute training minigame, which has a ring UI texture applied, much like in that screenshot from the other parachuting game.1 point -

And what is the excuse for the bad voice acting, weird models and boring plot? Low budget (and the previous voice actors were either dead or "I'm not working on that again, I only just completed therapy), a new modeling program which they were inexperienced with and unknown...I assume they took away the LSD from the developers, and that made everything kind of settle down.1 point -
