    Lego Island Walkthrough...Classic PC Edition!

Well, it's been quite a while since I've been active here, hasn't it? I actually do hate to be a bit of a self-promoter on my first post here in forever (I may try being active again if it's any consolation), but some of you probably know I did a small handful of Lego game walkthroughs on my channel, primarily my alt Humongous Fan Soundtracks. More recently I've been able to record footage off old computers rather than having to emulate them, so I thought I'd use the opportunity to capture Lego Island off an era-appropriate computer. I never had the latest and greatest until about 2005, where before then I was stuck with an old Pentium II that ran Windows 2000. However, this also worked in my favor, as I got to play Lego Island closer to how it was intended to play; see, the game has a lot of issues when played on modern computers, including but not limited to the incredibly sensitive turning controls, animations that are too fast (the shelf switches are the worst offenders), a nearly unplayable helicopter chase, and many others. Because a lot of these issues lead to confusion on many of the game's "problems", I thought I'd at least try to remedy that by making this video. It's a full walkthrough of Lego Island, played on the exact computer I used to play it on! Obviously not everyone is going to like the low frame rate (you spoiled kids...), but it's there to give a bit more accuracy to how the game originally played and clear up confusion on some of the issues people complain about. Why they never bothered patching the game in the 2001 and 2002 releases is honestly beyond me, but whatever. Enjoy! And if you want, here's my other walkthrough that I made a few years back as well more akin to how most of you are familiar with the game.

    The LEGO Ninjago Movie

I'm glad they aren't afraid to shake things up. Interesting that they're recasting all the characters. I'm worried Jackie Chan's voice isn't really gonna read as anything but "Jackie Chan," though, even if the words are coming out of Wu's mouth. I guess we'll see. The new figs are a lot more interesting, though! Shifting Cole over to brown so Nya can have her own color is a good move in my book. Making her colors red+blue in the first place was a sort of awkward choice, defining her by the two guys she's directly tied to (Kai and Jay). Plus its just a weird combination. New hairpieces are interesting too. EDIT: also now the six ninja are the same colors as the six Toa. huh.

    I got a job!

Today I accepted a co-op internship with Entre Computer Services as a Co-op developer working on a variety of apps and projects. The co-op serves as part of my graduation requirement. With 6 months of co-op experience programming or developing games, I can finally graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Game Design. Also it gives me money. Money is nice. I start on the 6th of July. Also the place has tons of apartments which are like a kilometer away or closer. Yay.

LEGO MOTO (Stunt Rally) Executive Summary

It always automatically displays the current day. This doc is from December 16th, 1998, as said at the beginning of it and as you can see by the metadata. Anyway, most of the images in this doc were already posted by a dev here, but there's some new info. Networked/online multiplayer was planned, with up to four players on an IPX or TCP/IP LAN network. In a simple multiplayer lobby, players would have been able to review potential races, prepare their cars, and issue challenges, taunts, and chat. Custom tracks could be shared via the internet as well. Game modes besides racing were planned - goal posts and a ball were to allow for football/soccer-esque gameplay (like in this set) and timed gates were to allow for time trial challenges There were six world themes instead of four, and you were to be able to combine them There were going to be different modes, starting with assisted/auto steering, and ending with a free driving mode as players advanced in skill The camera was planned to move in closer to cars during dramatic moments, such as collisions, and the starts/ends of races Only PC was planned at the time, but future portability was considered possible

A Lego/Terratech inspired space exploration game

A few months ago, I joined on to help develop this game after being really interested in the modular/lego-like ship building feature. Story goes, you're an average Joe working shifts at a frontier outpost until one day when you've stockpiled enough cash to get an old rusty command pod and see where the solar wind takes you. But the outer reaches of the galaxy can be a scary place. Corporations have been around for years, and have been monopolizing resources and benefiting from their ill-gotten gains. Also, it can be tough to track down criminals who are traveling at relativistic speeds, so naturally many of them have joined up to have a space pirate tea party out there... complete with guns, anger, and unreasonably high opinions of themselves. So back to the ships. It's your job to equip yourself with means necessary to make a living out in these parts, and that means fast engines, a well built vessel, and guns. Lots and lots of guns. You will receive transmissions to your space dock for quests to help fund your new fun-loving lifestyle. You will run into pirates who would love nothing more than to pick their teeth with the broken shards of your spirit. But if you're lucky, you can loot their remains for your own gain. All of this to say, your goal is to build the best damn ship in the outer reaches, and here are some considerations for you. * Ships rely on real (or close to it..) space physics. Your mass and weight distribution are key factors in your ship designs. You will need to balance how much armor you have with where your important ship components are placed. * You don't have to watch for engine placement that much as all of them will puch your ship foreward perfectly, but they need to be protected from enemy fire so consider that before lunging forward. * Your guns will fire in the direction that you place them on your ship. Side guns shoot to side, front guns shoot to the front. You get the idea. * You can heal your ship by going back to your space station. There, the healing arm of life will dispense green nanobot goodness all over you - for a price. We're currently looking for testers and feedback, so let me know what you think!
