LEGO Star Wars Unused Models
Lind Whisperer and 6 others reacted to ticketstoloservile for a topic
Hello Everyone! As I was successfully trying to find some unused models for LEGO Star Wars The Video Game, I found these little things: That's Zam from the game! Cool, huh? And a jawa! Buzz Droids are good (though not animated). Spaceman is interesting - Classic Space design by the looks of the chest decal (not sorted animation-wise yet though), and it looks like the Boga was abandoned early in the piece design wise; Let me know if you want more of these unused models. I really like finding these hidden extras.7 points -

I'm sure people understand that project managers aren't usually the best at PR, and that can be good, because their job isn't PR, but to get things done. This is why PR is usually handled by specific employees. As @Polaris said, ignoring comments in order to let things "cool off" won't necessarily make things "cool off". In this situation, a big reason why things are heated is from the lack of prior responses. So as you would understand, this is like keeping the coals hot. My suggestion is, is to simply acknowledge peoples concerns and complaints. They write because they want their feelings towards this heard, not because they want to argue; and I'm sure that's how you feel also, you want your feelings heard by the community. You would like to talk about positive, productive things... and thats good, but, you must first thoughtfully handle and acknowledge the negative. This may mean you have to take some steps back and go: "ok, maybe I didn't handle this the best, maybe I could have done xxxx and in the future I will try to xxxx" (This is an example, I'm not directing this at any particular raised issue). This acknowledgement is what will make things "cool off". This does not mean you are wrong and this does not mean that criticizers are always right, it just means you are willing to listen and not quick to deflect negative feedback. I say these things to assist you handling this situation from my perspective, not to be demeaning or to say you don't know your stuff or sound above you, but to genuinely help you mediate. As a side note, I am interested in which two people who worked on the original LRR were wanting to work on the second and if they were going to be involved with discussions for the new game (because we'd really like all parties involved with the project to actually be involved). In fact, it would be great to be kept up to date on the whole team and what their roles are for LRR2. As previously mentioned in emails to you, I am very happy to open up this forum (Sections etc..) to help get things done, to alleviate questions and more. I can setup topics, pages, private development forums for internal project organization... If you want your own forums for the project, fair enough, I have over 10 years experience working with forums and can help you get that set up. Whatever is needed to get the project on track. Have you begun putting together a Project (Management) Plan? If so, can we see it? (With confidential information removed).5 points -
BIONICLE RETURNING 2015
Dazzgracefulmoon and 2 others reacted to emily for a topic
This poster is really neat! I feel like it has a lot more purpose and gravity than the last one. Also it's purple, which, let's be honest, should really have been the main color for the year of Makuta's mask all along. Also also, there appears to be a new mask up in the clouds. People are guessing it might be the Mask of Ultimate Power. I guess we'll see!3 points -
Rock Raiders Wave Two?
liquidelectricity and one other reacted to emily for a topic
I was strolling through a Eurobricks thread on unreleased sets and came to this curious post. So I thought to myself "yeah, okay, big talk. Did you read that on Brickipedia?" But then they went on to say this: Suddenly the post is sounding a lot more credible. So I look back up at the post and what really strikes me is that he says that wave 2 would have had "other underground creatures." And then I remembered this guy! It's a slimy slug that was on the cover of a catalog packaged with big box LEGO games in 1999. It's not a model from the Rock Raiders game, though - in fact, it looks like it's design to be produced as a buildable figure, with a single-piece rigid body that has some eyestalks and studs stuck on. Seems a little excessive to design all of that just for promotional renders, no? So yeah, I think this guy may have been designed for that 2nd wave. What else could have been in it? There are at least a couple models in the PC game that would have worked as sets if they had chosen to produce them...2 points -

After the 4th, could you please post a sort of state of the union, rundown of what's going on with the project? A lot of the recent criticism boils down to we have no idea what the current plan is, and stuff that we had pointed out might not be the best approach for various reasons seems to be in a confusing mix of in the plan, out of the plan, on neptune, and running rampant on the streets of Tokyo. As a side note, I disagree strongly with not making gameplay demos and prototypes, even if they only exist internally. My favourite games, and the most successful, out of the indie games I've done QA for, all shared a few things in common: Clear planning, testing early and often, and a willingness to change the plan if you find out that an idea that looks good on paper turns out to really suck when you're actually play it.2 points -

Custom Bricks for LDD
Pixus reacted to polymaker for a topic
I just wanted to share my progress on creating custom bricks for LDD. As you can see by the following images, I've succeeded at what many thought impossible: importing custom models into LDD. I have cracked the structure of the .g file format but I still have problems with a section that has to do with the outlines/borders of the bricks. I am now working on an editor to create the xml that goes with the model which specifies the collision and connection information.1 point -

Retro LEGO Comics/Storybooks/Animated Cartoons General Discussion
spacepals reacted to emily for a topic
Coming back to this, I found a fourth issue on Bricklink. Considering there are four installments to the web comic, it seems likely they're one and the same. And considering the web editions are lost, that's good! Those are definitely something to get a hold of and scan at some point. Also, this isn't new but I just noticed it: vroniefan2000, who uploaded the second Time Cruisers audio drama, also uploaded the third one. So nothing missing there, now!1 point -
Rock Raiders Wave Two?
Quisoves Potoo reacted to BobaFett2 for a topic
Given the level of complexity of sets back then (excessive juniorization), I find it unlikely that they would have had too much environmental stuff. If they did have one that showed off the underground nature of the theme it would probably just have utilized BURPs/LURPs, a rock with crystal inside, and a few pieces to help make the BURP/LURP feel more like part of the scene. My guess is that wave 2 wouldn't be entirely, or even largely, models from the game. They probably would have expanded the theme a bit and given how other the other multi-year action/adventure theme from that time, Adventurers developed, probably changed scenery. They didn't really keep any themes in the same place from year to year - stuff like Space, Aquazone, Time Cruisers, Castle, and so forth (with slightly earlier/later releases) always saw significant shifts between years. The only real exceptions are Star Wars (sets came from all episodes to start with) and BIONICLE (2001-2002 didn't have any real palette shift). This would probably mean some degree of palette shift (see above). All just speculation, of course, but it would fit the patterns I've noticed from the 90's through the early 00's.1 point -

And why shouldn't they? Their core demographic is largely children that are satisfied by playing as their favorite LEGO-fied characters with bricks flying everywhere. There's little demand for TT to up their game designings.1 point -
Travellers Tale's Level Design in a Nutshell
BobaFett2 reacted to McJobless for a topic
Tt (both Games and Fusion) place too much effort and focus on their cinematic design, rather than their game design. Their puzzle design stagnates quickly since it's just simplified point-and-click moon logic, but at least it's better than their completely out-of-place combat design. It's almost as if none of the design team know basic pattern theory and how to keep design elements consistent. They're so happy to break their own rules WITHOUT informing the player first.1 point -

Modding Lego Star Wars the Complete Saga Wii
Lair reacted to The Ace Railgun for a topic
You know what, you can believe whatever the heck you want to believe, but most people aren't going to call that modding, unless you were adding brand new content to the game using custom code that replaced a model, or added a new model, added new gameplay, etc. Those are still just cheat codes of a different variety.1 point -

tomfyhrToday 4:14 PM @Ringtail So you are discriminating persons with autrism? They are the people who take things with total literal sense. Just to clarify, I do not have autruism. WOW edit: noghiriToday 4:20 PM As someone with both autism and altruism, what on this sweet blue-green treeball is going on in this chat? tomfyhrToday 4:22 PM Bingo. A person with autism on the forum who has witnessed this chatroom. By stating that all persons who are taking things with literal sense are bots, you are essentially degrading persons such as noghiri, which is a form of harassment. Therefore, you have just broken one of the rules, which states you cannot hurt someone else. TerrevToday 4:22 PM wAT1 point -

Custom Bricks for LDD
Quisoves Potoo reacted to polymaker for a topic
The last part I was working on got added in the last LDD update... So now I'm working on this one: The models are almost finished (I convert LDraw files to obj but they have a lot of gaps and need cleaning-up). For the collisions and connections I haven't started yet, I'm still working on my software to help create the xml file and I don't feel like doing this one by hand.1 point -
LEGO Portal Racers
Lind Whisperer reacted to lol username for a topic
F1, F2, F3, and F4 seem like they're intended to load the four worlds, but in reality it seems to be random. They count as going through a portal though, so that's an easier way to easily unlock all the racers. Also, in a pit stop, E turns the timer to 0 and lets you go without repairing your hoverboard. If you hit one of the buttons to load a world and K at the same time, your hoverboard will be destroyed, but it'll load the pit stop. If you add modules there, you'll continue racing with only a floating minifigure and the modules. If you don't add modules, you'll just continue playing as a floating minifigure. Crashing in this state freezes the game. Also, the pirate hut right there is the captain's hut model from LEGO Universe:1 point -
