Rant about Gaildor: Part 1

Not much of a rant, really. Anyway I've never watched the show or played the game but I always liked the Galidor toys. I think the theme gets more hate than it deserves.5 points -

Let's put it this way: Lego, as far as I'm concerned, has never done something so legitimately awful that it deserves scorn. With this not being the case, FOLs start looking for something to comically exaggerate their hate towards, and Galidor makes for an easy target since it wasn't commercially successful and it was radically different than other Lego products.3 points -

The contrast on this one is really weird, I tried to fix it but it just got worse. So, you will not be able to read the upper text! I'm very sorry (not really). I also repeatedly drew Pikachu for some reason. I'm trying to get back into drawing, but I don't like having to choose a model to draw. It's embarrassing.2 points -

Galidor GBA LEGO Test Level
emily and one other reacted to lol username for a topic
While the Galidor PC/console game... isn't exactly known for being a gem, (even with its own lead designer dissing it), its GBA cousin isn't as botched from what I remember of playing it at a friend's house. The GBA version is a sidescrolling platformer, nothing special, but not bad. Anyway, it has a LEGO test level, apparently. Mildly interesting given that the franchise usually stuck to its own... style?... rather than going LEGO-y. https://tcrf.net/index.php?title=Galidor:_Defenders_of_the_Outer_Dimension_(Game_Boy_Advance) Tangentially related - Super Mario Land 2 has a level made out of totally-not-LEGO blocks. Apparently they're N&B Blocks, a clone Nintendo themselves made back in the late 60s/early 70s: http://nintendo.wikia.com/wiki/N%26B_Block2 points -

I know it's fun to mock the theme, but the truth is I find more amusing than anything else. The show is goofy and low-budget, but not outright bad, and ignoring the humans the sets are perfectly fine action figures - just not, you know, Lego sets. The video game is awful though2 points -

Rant about Gaildor: Part 1
Dazzgracefulmoon reacted to ticketstoloservile for a blog entry
There's one particular LEGO Theme that is known to be the worst of the worst. You all know what I'm talking about: If I had to be honest with you all, I did like Gaildor when I first saw it on my older brother's old LEGO World Club Magazines many years ago. Eventually, I watched the episodes from the show on Youtube. After I watched the only two seasons of the show, I wanted to get more Gaildor, and sadly, I did later find out that the theme's sets were bad. Like REALLY BAD... If more hadn't occurred with my interest of theme, I wouldn't even care for anything that was LEGO related at that time. With my 'little' opinion of Gaildor being done, I'd be back with a part two of this rant about the "worst" LEGO Theme. I'll like to hear your opinion of Gaildor in comments below! Cheers!1 point -

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/behind-screen/new-lego-short-master-debut-922834 There's gonna be a Ninjago short playing before Storks in theaters. Chicken's VA is Nya's, and the narrator is Garmadon. But just who is Chicken, anyway?1 point -

Here, have a bootleg! Around six years ago, I made a driver in Lego racers. His name was Oil. At the time, I had a lot of trouble playing the game. I don't know what it was about this racer I made, but I liked him. I started a circuit (I thought it said carecut when I was seven) against redbeard. For the first time ever, I won the carecut. I moved on to the next champion. It felt amazing. I then beat king kahuka the next day. Flash forward 3 months. I was playing with Lego at a friend's house. Digging through his collection, I found Oil's head piece (The one with the white bangs). I traded like, three pirates soldiers for that piece. And it was more than worth it. I don't remember the kid's name, but all I can say is this: Thank you for indirectly making me who I am today. I loved Oil. I took him everywhere with me. I took him on all sorts of lego adventures. While many minifigures came and went, Oil always stuck around. And while I did redesign his appearence, yes, he's still the same figure in my heart. Over time, Oil slowely became more like a person to me. It felt like I always had someone to talk to. Someone who would listen. Someone who would understand. Someone who would encourage me. Agree with me. Do things with me. Someone I could trust. And someone who would smile at me, no matter how bad things get. A few weeks ago, I overheard my sister say "He always carries around his stupid legos. They're like a security blanket to him." And that really hit me hard. All sorts of feelings of embarrassment and shame filled me. I was just a stupid kid who carries around a blankie everywhere. I went up to my Mom's house that day, where there's nothing to do. So I brought some Lego. I was tired and melancholy. I couldn't sleep. I didn't know what to do. So I reached into my travel bag and brought out oil. I looked at his happy yellow face. He made me feel better. Then and there I realised. It didn't matter.1 point -

Hey k-g, the images you posted this time reminded me of some other concept images I found here. (Some people might remember I posted this before) By the way, I'm pretty sure all the world mockups can be seen in the boss intros Actually, it is, kinda. It's regular sample-based synthesis with reverb. EDIT: Oh crap I already posted this XD1 point -

Sorry for the year-late reply. The "more digital figures" were done, like you suggested, entirely digital. We 3D modeled those, animated them and rendered them out. I dug through my old files and found some more random bits 'n' pieces. Several different artists worked on these, so you'll see different styles. These are mostly mockups, exploring how the UI would work. Enjoy! And here are some of the "high poly" in-game cars from the workshop.1 point -
