LEGO Studios Soundtrack: The Mystery of Missing Music

Some of you may remember 1349 Steven Spielberg Moviemaker Set, which came with a camera and program allowing its users to make their own brickfilms of dubious amateur quality. I know I certainly made my own fair share of movies with it, including the ever-so-creatively-titled Temple of Doom. Because I never got the audio-importing features to work, I largely relied on the music that was provided in the program itself, especially the four tracks "Action Music", "Hero Music", "Scary Music", and "Radio Music" (this isn't even getting into the software's extensive Smart Sounds music library, which I'm sure is a tale for another day). If you've seen the three example animations included on the CD (Jewel Quest, Fetch T-Rex, and Shark Bite), then you've already heard these songs. But did you know that these songs did not originate from these animations? Getting back to Temple of Doom, I uploaded it onto YouTube way back in 2009. Some time ago, it was hit with a copyright notice by FirstCom. Don't worry, it's still available on YouTube, but it's now monetized by FirstCom. Through this copyright claim, however, I discovered something very interesting: the composers and original name of the "Action Music" heard in Fetch T-Rex (or Jurassic Bark, as it was called on the LEGO Studios website). "Monsters Playground", composed by Ian West, Michael William Vickerage, and Stephen North, is part of the Connect 2 The Movies (CNCT125) album, which is surprisingly obscure on the grand cosmos of the internet. Fortunately, after some relentless digging, I was finally able to find the whole track (and album) on the Miles of Music company website, which I'm linking to below: https://milesofmusik.com/music_catalog/album-1016497/ From the same album, I discovered that the "Scary Music" from the Shark Bite animation is on the same album, under the title "Cliff Hanger". I took the liberty of downloading the two tracks from this website (direct MP3 links here and here) and uploading them onto YouTube. Unfortunately, I have not yet found the "Hero Music" and "Radio Music" from the Jewel Quest animation, as they do not appear to be part of the Connect 2 The Movies album. FirstCom has already claimed monetization on the two CNCT125 songs, but to my surprise there hasn't been a copyright claim on either of the Jewel Quest songs yet. "Hero Music" certainly sounds like it could be the same composers, but unfortunately the Miles of Music website has a horrible search engine that doesn't let you search for specific composers. Therefore, I'm opening this up as a challenge to whoever wants to try looking around the website (or any other website) and seeing what they can find, akin to what jamesster did previously with the search for Beat Revolution.

  2. I think you guys are focusing on the wrong issue here. It's not like this guy is making money off of use of the Lego brand, and I doubt TLG would object to someone raising money to buy Lego products. The issue here is why do you feel the need to buy TWO MODULAR BUILDINGS AND AN AGENT CALENDAR for this project? Why don't you try building what you need with parts from your own collection? And if you don't have the parts needed, I'm sure you can get enough to build a reasonable façade for far less than the price of three $100+ sets

    PS1 version longplay

thanks for letting me easily relive my nightmares of playing this through to the end without a memory card, leaving the console running overnight, and having it accidentally unplugged multiple times

    Which Lego Set are You?

Nah there were seriously just millions of useless accounts on the forum at one point due to a misconfiguration/bug/something I don't remember exactly. Normal members couldn't ever see them and Cyrem deleted them anyway, but "fixing" it completely (getting rid of the gaps in numbers) would involve re-calculating the whole forum database or something else that'd be a hassle and not really worth it, from what I heard.

  7. Haha yeah, collision gets reeaaaally messy in this game when you kill the framerate (as if it weren't messy enough at 60), I threw together a compilation of stuff like this a while back:

The Brickster Returns - Lego Christmas Special Animation (Kickstarter)

That's exactly what you're doing with kickstarter though, you're asking people for money to work on a project that as a true fan film would be worked on with one's own already gained money (not through kickstarter). Doing it this way could make LEGO have to shut the project down.

The Brickster Returns - Lego Christmas Special Animation (Kickstarter)

I'm prettttty sure you can't use Kickstarter this. LEGO is trademarked by The LEGO Company. You might be able to do this since people gain money from playing videogames, but I don't know. I still think this can't be done.

Part of the reason I didn't want to reply was because it was "Not [meant] to be taken seriously" jsyk.

The ultimate purpose of this topic is to test how good people's joke detectors are. I've seen several passes and failures so far.

Mega Man 3 Top Man Stage (Shadowblaze Remix)

Metal + Electronic! I didn't try to get the notes right from the original, I tried to get them the way I liked them, so technically you could say that this isn't a remix. I still can't upload on SoundCloud, but that might change in around a week.

    Low Framerate Glitches

Forcing LI2 to run at low framerates (in this case, 5 FPS) causes some weird stuff. 0:14 Clipping through the level geometry in the Skate Park. 0:51 Out of bounds in Mr Hates' Camp. 1:56 Animation bug(?). Not impossible to see without low framerates but definitely easier. 2:05 Out of bounds in Pepper's House. I've done this at normal framerates but it happens much more rarely. 2:58 The physics in Desert Speedster totally freaking out - flying across the level and eventually exiting the skybox. 4:58 Getting into the cut desert tomb area simply by clipping through the wall. Also, some screenshots of things I didn't get video of. In the Brickster's Palace, it lets you fall for long enough to let you briefly land on the rest of the tower below: Also makes it very easy to get out of bounds in, say, Dino Park: (This is already known, but the islanders don't have dialogue if you get past the gate early) ALSO: It wasn't until now that I noticed you can zoom in on the map in Pepper's house by pressing shift next to it, even though there's no prompt. AAAAALSO Valerie doesn't have hair in the Skate Park, and there's a few developer characters(?) I hadn't really noticed before. AAAAAAAAALSO got a screenshot of Boney Hawks/Gnarly Bones - check out this audio file, _data\sounds\z01BPK\boney_SMACK.wav. Maybe he was gonna have more of a role than just standing there? http://vocaroo.com/i/s0u6e4AUACag
