Lego Island Behind the Bricks
grappigegovert and 8 others reacted to Cirevam for a topic
Mysteries 200 Italian Fathers Golly gee what have I gotten myself into this time This will be a series of one-off comics. Throw ideas at me if you want. I have several lined up and I'll be able to create them more quickly as I load in more of the island and characters.9 points -
Walk speed varies with camera pitch
aidenpons and 8 others reacted to lol username for a topic
The topic title is simplified a bit... But that's the most noticeable effect, anyway. First, in case you wanna try this yourself, it might be handy to know that the X and C keys control the camera pitch - you don't have to use the mouse. What's happening here is the game is taking the direction the camera is pointing, and trying to move Pepper in that direction by a certain amount. This amount actually changes depending on the FPS, such that Pepper's speed won't increase/decrease if the game's framerate increases/decreases... But let's just say it's trying to move Pepper 1 unit in the direction the camera is facing. If the ground is flat and the camera is facing straight forward, this will just result in Pepper moving forward by 1 unit. But let's say the camera is facing mostly downwards. This also means the game wants to move Pepper mostly downwards - but there's ground in the way. So what happens? Welp... This. He doesn't move as far/runs more slowly. Of course, the ground in LI2 isn't perfectly flat, so the same happens when Pepper starts climbing slopes. And as you can see in the second video, some slope + camera angle combos are enough to not only make Pepper slow down or stop, but start going backwards while still walking forwards. Needless to say, this isn't really the best way to calculate these things.9 points -
Skateboard tricks outside the skate park
emily and 5 others reacted to lol username for a topic
When I mentioned this and posted pics in the shoutbox apparently a whole bunch of people didn't know about it. So yeah, this is a thing you can do in LI2. Jump, then press shift, ctrl, or space along with arrow keys. They don't give you points or anything. And yes, it works wherever you can skateboard as far as I've seen.6 points -
Skateboard tricks outside the skate park
Wirza and 5 others reacted to Lair for a topic
i like the move where pepper holds the skateboard over his head and uses his satanic powers to float over to darrel's or whatever the bald guy's name is house and give him a spook. rob will later come home to find the house dark and secure, and when he walks into the kitchen he doesn't have time to turn the lights on before darrel attacks him thinking he's the spice boy demon come back to haunt him. no one hears the screams, as the skatepark was temporarily converted into a rave club since Red Greenbase's house wasn't big enough, and everyone in there is partying to loud music and is high on molly. Red himself got bored and went to the garage to smoke a blunt with Nubby; he kinda regrets ever starting this club. It was fun when it was just him and his pals, Shiny, Poly, and Bradford. But then they moved away, leaving just him, and his parties started being filled with people like Rhoda and Snap. They were fun, but they didn't compare to his old friends. Now it's all teenagers and twenty-somethings with their weird synthetic drugs, and these creepy reanimated skeletons. He keeps up his friendship/possible-sorta-dating with Rhoda, but in actuality Nubby feels like the last person on the island he can really relate to. Poor guy. Maybe he could've saved Rob from the accident. By the time Nick arrived, it was too late. But let's be honest, anyone who signed on to work on this piece of s*** game was damned from the start.6 points -
[Open source] LEGO Racers Online + LEGO Racers API

I'm still here sometimes, but currently I'm just too busy with other things and apps. I'm currently learning C++ which is a lot more low level which will definitely makes things I made a few years ago a lot clearer when I dive into this project again. I still hope sometimes that I will pick up this project and finish it.4 points -

Large tool store
Ben_R_R and one other reacted to Wirza for a topic
When boredom strikes, I need to build. I had some rock raiders stuff laying around, and I decided my chrome crusher needed a base. I built this in a few minutes. To the right is a small bucket to keep collected energy crystals. The front has a control panel, explosives storage, and a radar. To the left is a small tool rack. The back has a large bucket for storing ore before energy crystals are harvested from them. On the top is a button. It activates the radar, as well as a warning light. I hope you enjoyed a look at my moc, it was cobbled together in a matter of minutes.2 points -

Think you've got that backwards - I've tried them both with the standard framerate cap (60) and uncapped (debug mode) and they play at the same speeds on both (or so close I didn't see any difference), and said speed is usually too slow for the animation to even complete (or for some, hardly even begin!) before Pepper hits the ground and they stop. There's one or two where the speed is slightly higher than it seems it should be, but nothing too crazy.1 point -
Your Strangest Dreams
Wirza reacted to Fluffy Cupcake for a topic
So I entered a dream in spectator mode, and for some reason I was next to and looking at an anonymous person in a car. What happened next was the person slowly turned their head to look at me whilst giving me a very creepily evil smile. This shot me wide awake because not only was that freaky, but it also was like a completely uncalled for 4th wall breaking; being seen when I shouldn't even be part of the scene.1 point -

LEGO.jam File Extractor
aceman0000099 reacted to lol username for a topic
Are you trying to extract it while the JAM/the extractor are in your program files? (There might be problems with permissions there.) If you are, try copying the JAM and the extractor to somewhere else, like your desktop, and try there.1 point -

Recently I noticed that Toa Mata kanohi are held on using a system stud. Today I was trying out ideas for integrating them into regular system builds using this. I ended up making this little guy out of a Pakari. Here's the internal structure: I'm quite proud of it.1 point -
